Change from branded to generic? - Xperia Z5 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Discovered that my new Z5 Compact is Telenor (norway) branded.
That might set back the date for receiving Marshmallow, plus that there are apps I really don't need.
How easy is it to flash a generic nordic, which one should I choose, and where do I find it?
Edit: found this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-compact/help/z5c-unbranding-stock-firmware-downloads-t3227344
So just delete if you want to

Tell me please what have you selected in flashtool drivers from the list, because i cant find z5 compact and i have version 0.9.19.8?

What windows version are you on?
Xperia flashmode driver (the one on top) was the one I chose. After booting in the windows mode that allowed nonsigned drivers in win10 x64

Im using win 7
Sent from my Sony Xperia Z5 Compact

There's a patch to 0.9.19.10 here: http://www.flashtool.net/downloads_windows.php
But the driver should be able to install anyways.
https://www.raymond.cc/blog/loading-unsigned-drivers-in-windows-7-and-vista-64-bit-x64/
Try the first win7 option and see if you can get drivers installed then
Z5c is not in the list, you should just use the "flashmode driver" and "fastboot driver".
Post any error messages here and I'll try to help.
I had most trouble getting the phone to boot in flash mode. Took me 15-20 tries. Changed usb ports and held on the end of the volume down when plugging in the cable and voila

[Q] X10 debug drivers for Windows 7

I have looked for debug drivers for my Xperia X10 on Windows 7 but can't find any.
Windows sees the phone and I can use the USB storage option.
However, I can't get it to connect to ADB for debug in Eclipse.
Have no problem on my (old) XP machine.
The drivers on the Sony-Ericsson site don't seem to support Windows 7.

[Q] Flashtool drivers problem

I am trying to flash cyanogenmod 10 onto my xperia x10i. When i select the file to flash in the flashtool, it tells me to go to flash mode. When i hold the back button and plug phone in it says drivers not installed. So i went to the flashtool drivers folder and installed the drives for my phone. It still says i need the drives. Any suggestions? Maybe a youtube video of some one flashing a rom on there xperiax10 or a noob-proof guide? That would help very much, thank you

Do me a big favor and see if installing the driver following the steps in this post help. If not check out this thread.
Also ports must be USB 2.0, USB 3.0 won't work, so if you don't have USB 2.0 ports look at the BIOS if you have option to change it from xHCI to EHCI.
I dunno how I got in this forum, but drivers are drivers I guess.

[Q] Fashtool 0.9.13.0 problems with XU

Hi there,
I have problems with Flashtool version 0.9.13.0 (Latest) , so i tried to plug my phone with Fastboot mode / Flashboot mode and Windows says : "USB Device not recognized"
NOTE: I am using Windows 8.1
I tried going into advanced boot mode and i disabled that driver thing , installed drivers, still nope.
I tried front USB ports and rear USB ports (2.0 USB PORTS)
Still Windows don't recognize phone.
I Bricked phone and now i am frustrated that i cannot access flashtool and flash kernel. (I KNOW HOW TO UNBRICK IT)
Can anyone help , before flashtool worked like charm, and now i don't know why it won't work.
I am downloading Windows 7 and i will try it with Virtualbox , sure it will work but this is not solution.
NOTE: In 0.9.11.0v Flashtool on Win8 it worked.
NOTE: I searched on google but everything leads to that driver thing.

Xperia Companion doesnt work with Z5 Compact

Like i said above. I wanted to update to 32.3.A.0.376 by using Xperia Companion but holding Volume Down while plugging in the USB doesnt do anything at all. Is it not working with the Z5 Compact or am i doing something wrong?

Your device must be powered off before doing so. Wait a bit, when it works the Notification LED is shinning.

I found out what was the problem. I used an usb3 port which doesnt work for it, sadly its not mentioned anywhere which made it hard to find out what caused the problem. If anybody else got that problem, try to change your USB port.
I also had serious connection problems between my (linux) computer (having only USB 3 ports) and the z5c running the 1st version android 7 (32.3.A.0.372). I was not able to flash any rom. Later I was not able to connect to Xperia Companion (from VirtualBox).
But my friends windows PC did work, so he was able to recover it quickly with Xperia Companion - and here comes the catch - using a USB 3 port. :cyclops:
FlashTool did not connect well on my linux laptop to the z5c @ 32.3.A.0.372 , but after upgrading to 32.3.A.0.376 it seems it does.
What version android do/did you run?

M4 Aqua not recognized by PC, Constant Red LED

Hiya,
My M4 doesn't boot, recovery and fastboot don't work, no LEDs at all except for when i connect it to a PC or a socket, where only a constant Red LED is seen. It just stopped working one day. I've tried taking the battery out and putting it in again, but no luck there.
Thanks in advance!

Try to install fastboot drivers like in this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/m4-aqua/help/how-to-install-drivers-sony-xperia-m4-t3831514
And a question, have you enabled debugging in the developer settings?

I've tried to install fastboot in 101 different ways, I'm afraid to say. The drivers work perfectly for another M4 Aqua I have, so it's not that. Regarding your question about USB debugging, I received this phone in its current state and forgot to ask about it, so I'm not completely sure.
Thanks,
Samyam25
