[Q] Z2 Baseband Change - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Guys, how you've been?
I've been looking for flash my Baseband on D6543 model. I've flashed Custom ROMs too many times and now I have D6503 baseband installed on my cellphone.
Anyone knows where can I find Baseband models, or how to extract them fom FTF files? The last time I did a factory reset, I did through PC Companion, and the Baseband does not changed and still the 6503.
I Wanted BB from D6543 to flash again and restore my 6543. Does anyone might help me?
I'd like to thanks in advance for those who might help me.

Just download firmware from xperifirm for your device and use flashtool to create ftf with selected components.

Downgrading Xperia Mini Pro to 2.3.4

Hello,
I updated my Xperia Mini Pro to ICS 4.0.4 last week. But there are lot of problems here. Also buggy and laggy.
So, how can I downgrade my mobile to original stock rom? without loosing the warranty. Because I bought this last month and I don't want it to lose warranty.

Just visit a Sony service centre... Itseems they downgrade the Rom to gb if u want.
Or you can flash ftf firmware file using flashtool. I don't think that voids warranty:good:

Correct they wont know the difference between flashtool downgrade and normal gb from before. So for warranty you will fine.
use flash tool .. it wont void warrent , because you will flash OFFICAL ROM .. so wont void warrenty
But im a newbie. How to use flash tool? my phone is not x10 mini pro. It's SK17i Mini pro.

But the rom is modified. Isn't it? I need the original 2.3.4 build 4.0.2.A.0.58 rom... Please can u find me a link?
If you do want to keep your warranty, you need to go to a service center. If not it's more than easy on Android.

you can search for official rom for GB at the development area
be sure you install flash tool too
it wont loose your warranty
If I were you I would look here and go to XX.Downloads. At Number 2 there is xperia mini pro.
Download the 4.0.2.A.0.42 rom (for SK17i) and install flashtool, then click on the flash ,select flashmode and select the ftf from 4.0.2.A.0.42.
But install the drivers from the drivers folder of flashtool before.
Then click flash and power off your phone. Press and hold volume down and put usb cable in and connect to pc. The green light will shine.
Then flashtool will do everything automaticly and will flash the rom. (Btw all your data will be wiped!)
If you are on .42 then you can root with flashtool (just enable debugging and unknown sources on phone) and click the open padlock to root. Then connect to your wlan and search for updates on phone. Then update via ota to .62 firmware!
Thats the best way and it's the official firmware and it's like you never have been on ics before!

Thank you so much dude! I will do that. But i need to know that firmware is "world" one or is that a firmware made for a mobile company like AT&t or something else? Because I don't need to see a company logo when my phone is starting.
Also if I do this, am I able to update my OS to newer firmwares if SONY release it? Like ICS or JB?

Yes, you can download from here and if your bootloader is locked you can still upgrade over the air (wlan) to newer versions of your os!
Yes you can install upgrades from sony, to ics or jb (if it's out).
I think it's polish rom or something like this, but you can choose your language and it's like the generic world, only the crap by sony (like things that are preinstalled, like mcaffee or whatsapp, playstore now, etc ) is different (whatsapp is on some sony roms preinstalled, but you can also download in playstore, it was just an example!!)
So just flash it like I told you and then you are on stock sony rom, you can root it (cause .42 you can root easily: just enable usb-debugging and unknown sources on your phone with 4.0.2.A.0.42 and click the open padlock next to the flash). Then you can update (if your bootloader is locked, otherwise your phone will brick) to .62 firmware, the latest gingerbread firmware by sony. ( I don't know excatly in which countries, but in Germany there is a .69 firmware, with no changes on the software, I think, compared to .62)
Greets!

[Q] Modem from FTF to CWM

Firstly, sorry for bad english. Although I'll try to do my best here, I'm not american, nor english and I'm not very used with your language. My problem is simple and have been asked here before. The problem is that they guy who asked help wasn't very specific with his problem.
I have a ST25A, a latin american version of our Xperia U, which differs from your ST25i in its baseband (the modem). The ROMs we find here are all for ST25i and the baseband included is for the ST25i. Actually it kinda works with the ST25A model, but the signal is weak (even worse if you're not richie enough to pay for the best mobile service, which is my case).
Then I tried to flash the original ROM baseband for the ST25a, but for some reason, I wasn't able to boot my cellphone in flashmode. I tried everything I could try all around xda and other forums. Nothing worked. So, I couldn't use Flashtools to flash the baseband.
In another attempt, I tried to convert the original ROM from FTF (Sony format), to CWM, but I wasn't able to do that by myself (I'm not pro at this stuff and a friend of mine who knows about it a little better than me couldn't help either).
So I'm here creating this thread as my last attempt to have my ST25a with a CyanogenMod ROM, because without the right baseband it won't be possible. Below is a link of Sony's ST25a stock ROM:
http://sdrv.ms/1fDwMh1
(It's uploaded in my Skydrive account, so it shall not be a problem to download it)
I'm here to ask someone to convert it into something I can flash the baseband in my Sony Xperia U without needing the flashtool. To open the FTF file I used WinRAR (that actually seems to open every container format).
I don't know if I made myself clear, but it's not only a problem of mine, it probably is a problem all latin american owner of a Xperia U will have. If someone can help to extract the baseband and give me a tip on how to make it work in my Xperia U, I would really appreciate. If I didn't make myself clear enough for you to understand my problem, don't hesitate asking.
Thanks for your time and sorry for disturbing, oh, and Merry Christmas, ppl!
Peace,
Eduardo Barth.

You realy should explain what the problem is and how it is related to CynogenMod which for what I know change the system only.
What do you want a ST25i rom with ST25a modem? just copy the modem from the i ROM to the a ROM.
You do not realy need WinRAR or any other program, FTF is just a zip file, if you rename it to .zip you can just copy the files in windows explorer then rename it back to FTF (in command line)
Or you can just exclude the modem from flash when you flash ST25i RON and flash the modem only from the ST25a ROM.

The problem is that Sony's files have .SIN extension, which is not compatible with CWM recovery. I tried to convert it to CWM zip and had no success with that.
The main problem is that my cellphone doesn't recognize's the Flashtool, because it have a problem with it's USB connector. I can't simply flash the baseband, I need to convert the baseband form .SIN (sony) to CWM files. There are some tutorials that explain how to do that for the system partition, but I tried to do the steps for the baseband and it didn't work. That's why I'm here, trying to find help to do that.
My advise to you is, if you cannot flash with flashtool don't mess with your phone because if something will go wrong, abd something will go wrong, you lose your phone.

Yes, I know. The problem is that my phone currently is with a wrong baseband (modem) and the signal is always poor to gone, so I already have a dead brick in hands...
Anyway, thank you for your attention.

[q] very big problem on my xperia z ultra!!!

I need your help guys!
Just yesterday, i was looking for a custom rom for my xperia z ultra. The reason why i want to install custom rom was to get rid of the NFC and BLUETOOTH problem that i was encountering. So i have successfully installed a rom from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2800414). but it was like a disaster. THERE IS NO MESSAGING APP so basically i cannot send or receive messages, the NFC is still not working and still my bluetooth cannot detect anything, and the Model number of my device changed from c6833 to c6806. I dont know where to start now. All i want now is to go back to its original state. I am willing to pay/donate to someone who can help me bring this device back to its original rom/build/model/etc.Thanks in advance.

you flash the .ftf with flashtool.
That's right, enable usb debugging in developer settings and then use flashtool to install the ftf. There's a link to a tutorial in the link that I posted earlier and a downloadlink for flashtool and the ftf file too.
Yes for messaging app you will need to download Hangouts app from playstore. Its strange because I use the same ROM on my C6833 and everything works as it should. Perhaps you have a hardware problem.

[Q] No Signal in Lollipop D6502, any way to fix?

Hey, so I was impatient of waiting for Lollipop on D6502, so I went to XperiaBlog and saw some people asking if they can flash the D6503 FTF to D6502, they said it was okay but your phone is from now on D6503 and you won't have 4G, but everything else will work. So I flashed it, my phone worked perfectly, only that I can't get a signal on my phone. WiFi works fine but cellular network has no signal. I am aware that there is a zip to flash to fix the modem issues on D6502, but that requires recovery and I haven't rooted to gain recovery nor will I plan to. Is there any way without rooting to flash the D6502 modem zip? I just cant stand it because without cellular the whole name called "phone" is just diminished. Thanks =)

That does not really help. Surely there has to be a way.
I forgot to mention I DID download the baseband patch but the D6503 ROM had only .sin and .ta files, while the patch had multiple folders and files with .b00, .b01, etc.
Is there a way to put the patch in the baseband folder then flash the ROM again? Thanks =)

There is a way root, install recovery and flash the zip.
If you don't want to that you could try and unpack the ftf, open the ftf replace the files and repack the ftf. I have no idea if that possible though. Google it.
Install some custom kernel that has recovery (that won't allow you to boot lollipop), flash the fix (eventually also root your device) , flash the original lollipop kernel and you should be done.

Couldn't I just wait though for the D6502 ftf for Lollipop to come and flash it? Would that fix the baseband problem?
If you're already on lollipop you won't get any update soon, only if you downgrade back to kitkat.

No, what I meant was I flashed D6503's lollipop. D6502's will be out in a week. I downloaded the D6503 ftf from XperiFirm AND CAN download the D6502's ftf when it comes out soon. I was asking if it was fine to flash 02 over 03 and not get any more problems. Thanks =)

Yeah sure, that'd work. Just make sure it's a clean flash. (Everything deleted on internal sd)

Z2 proximity,touch,display issue

Hi,
My Xperia Z2 is facing problems after problems. it all started with disappearance of Xperia Home. I was instructed by xda members to change the ROM i had reinstalled stock rom and this issue was fixed. then came then next issue, proximity sensor stays ON always and hence the in call interface became inaccessible. got another tip form xda to use Xposed framework to disable proximity sensor. this ROM also had a display flickering on grey colour (only) which was fixed by re-installing the same ROM. Reinstalling the ROM helped to fix the display flickering issue but the Proximity sensor issue still persists, ( temporarly fixed using Xposed Framework). After reinstalling the ROM, started another issue, the touch panel stops responding, ( except touch, all other keys will be working ie, Volume, power, camera, etc ). after a reboot the touch would work as normal. since its not feasible to change ROM every week, Please help me with a permanent solution. Thanks

Not to say, but it was a very common hardware problem in even brand new xperia z1's. I think they got rid of it in z2, but maybe your phone is an exception. If you have warranty then send it back to repair if the problem still persists even on a clean stock rom.

clean stock rom means the one downloaded using XperiFirm ?
also Z2 launched with Kitkat, now latest update is lolipop 5.1.1.
So which should i try ?

Sry, for a late answer.
Yes, stock rom means non-rooted ftf (so mostly files downloaded from xperifirm).
You may try both, but I think that kitkat has less errors.
ok thanks..let me try...
I am new in this field. so can i ask you one doubt?
My z2 is now rooted and bootloader unlocked and with philz recovery. so when i install the stock rom using xperifirm i will loose all these isn't?
I had downloaded the 5.1.1 Rom using XperiFirm. Can you pls tell me how to install this, since i have unlocked bootloader?
Unlocked bootloader won't change anything in terms of installing os.
The easiest way to this is just to use flashtool to flash the file, but it will also wipe your internal storage.
If you don't want your internal storage to be formatted you have to uncheck "wipe data" in Flashtool before flashing.
Btw it is preferred to wipe data in philz recovery before proceeding with flashtool (this will only wipe user data, not internal storage).

just run Flashtool, shutdown your device, select firmware in Flashtool, click start and follow the instructions
After that your device is purely stock without root and custom recovery.
If you want a rooted 5.1.1 ROM with recovery just do the following:
- dowload Sony firmware D6503_17.1.2.A.0.314_KK_4.4.2_UK+Generic (google for it) - this is the latest which can be rooted
- download rootkitXperia_KK4.4.2_20140719 (google for it)
- flash the firmware with flashtool
- root the device with rootkitXperia
- download any ROM you like and copy it to your device
- reboot into recovery and flash the ROM
now you have a rooted ROM with custom recovery and unlocked bootloader
