rca cambio w116 v2 touch screen doesnt work in android x86 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
any help would be greatly appreciated.
i have a rca cambio w116 v2 11.6 inch windows 10 2 in 1 tablet.
specs are as follows:
intel atom z3735f
32gb with 64gb sd
i cant get the touchscreen working in android x86 (ive tried android-x86 5.1-rc1 EFI image (64-bit OS) and remix os)
about to try 6.0
it works perfectly in windows, but when i boot into android, the touchscreen doesnt work at all.
the windows devices are:
HID-compliant touchscreen
kmdf hid minidriver for touch i2c device
the driver seems to be by silead
So..android boots fine, and is usable with the keyboard and mouse.
once again, any kind of direction on this would be great. ive read about similar issues, but no resolutions.

Ive found the android drivers for my touch screen.

Im just not sure what to do with them. There are three files with single letter extensions.
If anyone can succesfully help me with this, id happily pay.

Bradgunn84 - I also have not had luck getting the touchscreen to work. I only had success getting android 4.4 kitkat to boot to the GUI. Android 5 & 6 hand at the Android banner. Did you have success getting either to boot correctly. I'll kick an additional $20 if anyone can help with getting it to work.

I booted remix os, 4.4, and 5.xx, with rufus. All booted fine.
But no touchscreen on any. The mouse and keyboard work fine, if the keyboard is connected when you boot. If its disconnected, its really laggy when you reconnect it.
I have the driver files themselves for the touchscreen, and im slowly learning how to add them to, or compile a new kernal for x86.
But for now, its just a lot of reading. Still pretty lost.

ok, so i booted to the most recent version of 4.4 x86. it boots up fine, and is completely usable with mouse and keyboard.
after messing with the calibration app i found out the touch screen IS working, just not accurately at all.
It will register touches, just in the wrong place. i dont know how to calibrate it. none of the calibration apps on the play store work either.
Paulgall - As a live OS mine boots up and runs perfect(except touch screen of course). But it will register touches. just need to figure out how to calibrate it.
Once again. any help would be appreciated, happy to pay.
just need to get this thread a little more attention. 11.6 inch tablet for $160 with dual boot would be fantastic(whole reason i baught this, lol).

4.4 is the only rom ive had any kind of success with, which wasn't much.

Thanks Bradgunn84 - I'll continue to work with 4.4. and see if I can do anything with the touchscreen. 5 and 6 never get to the GUI, they just get hungup in the loading process. Did you have to change any BIOS settings? Are you running a SD card?
I had the same hopes for a dual boot. I had a RCA Viking and loved it, but didn't like that 5.0 didn't support apps on the SD card. They have it so locked down that it had no hopes of upgrading to 6.

Now the latest 4.4 won't boot. Maybe I messed up my Rufus settings. What settings do you use when creating the USB stick? Thanks It's probably obvious I'm a newbie to this whole thing.

I used 4.4 r5 with rufus. I set it to .iso first, find the 4.4 file, then change the settings to dd mode. Hit start and it works fine. Im using a generic 4gb i had no use for. I didnt have to change anything in the bios. And i have a 64gb sd card(class 10) inserted.
I havent had any issues with any version booting up. They all work (for me).
Im going to work on it more today. Ill post any results.

Okay, thanks. Not sure what I did, but working now.
Touch screen orientation
After working with it some more, I think the touch screen is 90 degrees out of phase from the display. When the display is display in landscape, the touch screen seems to be limited to a narrow width and long height (portrait dimensions). Touchpad also has the same issue, up/down movement moves cursor left/right, and left/right moves cursor up/down. Are you experiencing this on your tablet?

6.0 x86 wouldnt recognize touchscreen at all. Im about to sell this thing, lol. Not sure what to do.

Hmm, I suspect there are different versions of this tablet out there. The touchpad x-y is also backwards when I'm in the BIOS screens. Not happy.
Wondering if anyone knew how to solve this issue?
Any more work going on with this project. I'd love to get the cambio with the extra gig of memory and the win 10 lic for just $10 more than the similar android viking model. Then dual boot. What a deal that would be. If anyone got it working.
It looks like the current viking is coming with android 6. Is that build available to see if it will load up on the cambio.
OK I know this isnt on-topic with ANDROID developement, but i have NO drivers for my Cambio W116v2. Can anyone back up their windows 10 drivers with powershell? I know how to do it, i did it before, but somehow lost the zip i created in the shuffle o.o If you need the steps i will gladly sent them. mainly sound and touch is needed but since you will do a backup, might as well do the whole process so others can benifit. RCA had NO drivers uploaded to their support site o.o Thanks in advance...

I am about to receive my new archos 101 later this week. I am reading the forums, and so far i have gathered i will need to put android 2.2 on it, and also the android market. what other tweaks should i do when i get it? Apps i need to know about? This will be the first android i have owned so i do not know where to begin. If there is a thread that addresses this question, please point me in the right direction. my search didn't come up with much as to a list of things that are essential to getting the most out of the archos 101. thanks!

For my Archos 70, when I'm at home I have the screen brightness set to low. When I'm out in the sun I have to turn the brightness up all the way.

Click to collapse Agreed. I've been very happy with my 101. And I tried several popular alternatives before this. Like the Viewsonic, Nook color, Huewii/Ideos S7, and some knock off chinese clone. The 101 beats them all.
thanks :-D any news on what i need to do once it is out of the box? On my touch pro 2 it took me forever to realize that the first thing to do was flash a custom rom and other tweaks like OC'ing it. any thing i should do to the archos 101?
well...plug it in and charge it... If you want root and ability to OC, etc...I think you need to jump down to the UrkDroid threads. I'm very happy with stock and hoping for some way to root it. If you don't upgrade the stock I think z4root works though...as well as some additional codecs, but then you are on Eclair. Upgrade brings Froyo. Can't give you much advice beyond that...just load the market apk and start installing stuff.

(i dont have enough post yet to post an external link.) but under the top thread gen 8 devices there is a post titled newbie tips, and some general set up info. Something that i have done to really help is upgrade to froyo, then go into the power management and set it to over drive. yes i kills the battery faster, but it seems more responsive. also a new launcher program helps too. i am currently using one called zeam.
I'd say get market, a launcher (adw, launcherpro, zeam) and if you are comfortable with linux, the urukdroid hack. i was a little disappointed with the laginess of my 70 at first, mostly the media scanning but the SDE and Uruk make me jealous of no tablet.
got it today, this thing is nice. i am sitll getting used to android though. I cant get it to access my windows shares though, i input my username/password correctly and it cannot connect... also, how do i get the codecs on here? must i really pay for them?

Click to collapse Can't help ya with the shares, but you could try removing security from them for a bit and make sure you can connect. That's just basic troubleshooting. With regards to codecs, probably not. It comes default with a lot of stuff and I can play almost every video/audio file I have. Only a few needed to be converted. Very few statistically speaking. I think the ones you buy are very specific. So try what you have first.
I've not had to download any codecs. The handfull of videos I have watched worked fine. Zeam Launcher is a must for me. Fastest Launcher I have seen. Love it so much I put it on my Droid X and my wifes Droid2. Market and Appbrain is a must as is Flash 10.1. Don't forget to do the "Market Fix" to get all the market apps to show up. Forget the stock keyboard as its a laggy POS. Swype does not work at all but Slideit works great. Well worth the price for the amount of hair you will rip from your head trying to get the stock keyboard to register your inputs.

Also, i cannot figure out how to tether this thing to my wm6.5 tilt 2. i have always been able to tether windows machines, and i can even make a wireless network with it. however, the archos doesnt find my wireless router network, and when i connect it through usb or bluetooth it asks me for APN and username/password which i have no idea what they are. any ideas?

I had to use blue tooth and for sprint the apn is internet.com ( a quick google search should turn up other carriers) user id and password are usually blank.

really happy with the ubuntu edition phone just a few questions is there going to be a tablet released, i have a nexus 7 but would like a tablet with the official ubuntu touch image on, does any of the BQ tablets support the official image or any tablets ? bluetooth issues i tried adding my nexus 7 but it wont add its just greyed out is there a way to add it and if i did could i tether the internet through that connection? is there any way without taking RW away to add tethering hotspot to phone without any cables? i have inserted a 32 gig card into the phone and it formatted it, what can i do with that ? it doesnt seem to be for extra storage but have grub files on.. does that mean i can put other operating systems on that? could i put a BQ android image and dual boot into android for the apps i havent got and need sometimes? something totally different some of the emails on the ubuntu touch mailing list in dekko some of the emails have pictures on them, were does it get the picture from id like to add one for myself.

Theses are Z3740D tablets based on EM8011 motherboards. Big crap, to be honest ! Against any hope, RemixOS 20160202 is booting ! Display, touchscreen, wifi are working. Sound is horrible but exists No gyro sensor, at least it seems Thank you for the work. I'm not sure if i could manage to make it works, but, this is the most advanced hardware handling i saw for the THBK1.10.
Hey Graven! I have the same tablet! Rotation will noit work, in PhoenixOs it rotates but on with software. Cameras are not working and standby eithger on either OS. I was thinking of seeing what libraries to take from the Danew ROM, but is from 4.1 I think so it probably wont work. I remember you from your work on the rooting in another thread or slate something, I respect your work! I think that the sound may be linked in the build.prop, I installed alsa rweaker and it found nothing. I have some experience in nix but I am Willing to assist if possible! - PM me

Ok so it was suggested that I create a thread for this so here we are.. It doesn't matter what version of remix i use i can't get sound through hdmi on two different amd external gpu. Now I've tried different options through grub and its even been suggested that I try compiling a kernel for my specific hardware. Problem is I don't know how to do half the stuff that people have suggested and jide really hasnt been any help at all so im at a loss as to how to proceed. Any suggestions with detailed information would be greatly appreciated as im getting pretty frustrated..

Ok this is getting somewhere, thank you! Ive done the acpi=noirq with no luck. I haven't added it permanently to grub as i couldn't get it to work but i did manage to edit the options on startup. The radeon audio= 1 is new so that will be my next step. I'll let you know how that works out. Thanks again for the suggestions!

So ive tried all three suggestions and no luck it says file not found on all of them. Now on a weird note i type in alsa_aplay -l and it shows up as a generic hdmi card with no devices or subdevices. It almost as if remix knows the card is there but can't see it properly..? Thorougly confused now...

I've been feverishly searching the Internet for a working NabiLab download link and was hoping someone might could help or provide some insight into my problem. I'm attempting to root a Nabi Jr 16GB (NV5B) which I recently acquired along w/ several other devices, both working and non, for $10. It would be great to get it to run the Play Store and possibly even install YouTube, YT Kids, YT TV, or Netflix, but honestly I would be happy for this Nabi just to work w/ it's original factory ROM & Nick Jr content for my 2yr old son. I did manage to find what I think is the original factory ROM for this tablet (named NABIJRBstock.zip ~5.5MB) but TBH haven't yet tried to install Windows drivers or flash anything to the device yet, mainly b/c I'm not sure it would solve my main problem: while the device powers on and plays the included Nick Jr videos, games, takes pix, etc, there is some weird mirrored display issue where the entire screen image is reversed like a mirror image, which may be fine until my son starts learning to read if it weren't for my other major issue involving touch input. Any touch action actually effects a tap at a mirrored location opposite and equidistant from a center line horizontally across the screen... is the best way I can describe this strange and absolutely maddening behavior. I've created a YouTube video demonstrating the screen & touch weirdness. I've tried a regular factory reset but no change. Has anyone ever seen a device behave this way, Nabi or otherwise? I'm thinking the mirrored display and offset touch must be related, but what could be the cause? Any advice or suggestion is greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading and have a great day! -L. Dollar
