I recently had a one m9 bought from a friend. Now I want to install some custom roms into it but I wonder if I can install roms from the main one m9 section (for example Android revolution 20) for my one m9 or am I stuck with Sprint based custom roms? the m9 that i have is also rooted and unlocked (not sure if there's recovery) and it's running bad boyz m9 5.0.2 . If I install a new ROM then do I lose my unlock?

Feel free to flash Android Revolution, ViperROM, Insertcoin...usually the developer would mention which phones are compatible with the ROM. Just make sure the version of firmware, which should always be that of Sprint M9, corresponds with the version of ROM you're planning on installing. Your unlock should be fine. Cheers!
I just flashed Android Revolution but I cannot find the root anywhere while the ROM description clearly said that it is rooted. I also tried to flash SuperSU and was successful (i guess?) but when I reboot nothing was there, I still don't have root. I'm on locked BL, S-Off, SuperCID installed. Is there anything im doing wrong?

Try downloading it from the Play Store and let's see what happens. Otherwise flash ViperROM. I flashed Viper after the 6.0 update and it has root.
I had just also flashed MaximusHD today. Also same as ARHD, no root no extra options.... tried installing supersu from play store but didnt work ( i got the message that supersu binary is not installed). I will try to flash viper one m9 tomorrow like you said.
Are you on unlocked bootloader? I suspect that maybe the reason...

I don't think Android Revolution supports sprint, Vipoerone Does, ICE does at certain stages of release, at first it doesn't either, and you also have BadBoyz Rom for sprint
Flashed ViperONE, MaxmimusHD, ARHD. Seriously none has root. rdasante may I know how you installed MM on your sprint M9 and flash viperONE and are you on Unlocked BL?

@spiwar I flashed the ruu that was posted here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-one-m9/general/ota-tomorrow-4-11-t3078397/page27
Then flashed twrp recovery and installed ViperONE. Root was installed automatically. And yes, I'm BL unlocked.
Also, as @Aldo101t said, Android Revolution is not good for our device (Sprint). I thought that was more closer to stock so I'd give it a try. After over an hour installing it booted with no network. Baseband shows unknown, so I'm back to ViperONE. I'm waiting for BadBoyz

Hi,
I'm looking for a little help please. I have an international HOX X+ (on O2 ) that I unlocked and rooted using:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2213910&goto=newpost
At the time I did not want a ROM installed, just root so thats all I did. Since the release of Android 4.2.2 I wanted to get that installed, clearly the OTA update will not work with TWRP installed and I tried the Insertcoin 5.0.5 ROM, as that has all I need. But it simply fails with unable to load zip. (iirc)
Soo, I want to get my phone back to stock image - no twrp so that I can perform the OTA update and then re-root. Is this possible?

I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (SCH-1605) that is running android 4.4.2. I am currently out of contract with Verizon and I would like to start installing custom roms on my device. However, the latest OTA update has my bootloader locked down like Fort Knox. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mike

You can use a method in the general section to get root, which isn't one click, but you have to unlock the bootloader to install custom recovery to flash roms which can't currently be done on 4.3 and up for this phone.

Ok. Cool. Hopefully, someone will find an exploit to get pass this bootloader soon.

So I'm on 4.3 and rooted. Am I still unable to have a recovery? I'm having horrible Wi-Fi issues and i can't figure out why. So wanna go back to og Rom to process and eliminate

Just one more way to install Twrp or Philz touch recovery to our
HTC one M8 .
Now this is only for S-OFF,Supercid and can be simply made for any of the HTC ONE M8 variants .
Was made for those that are on the fly RUU flashers that can't wait for the use of a computer.
Just like other ruu files in the "0P6BIMG.zip" form
place it on the root of your external sdcard and boot to "hboot".
Once hboot finishes verification and asks you what you want to do
Volume-up and install will finish and you can reboot.
Tested on my at&t HTC one m8 fully converted to GPE,S-OFF, Supercid
I give thanks to @dottat

I know you said this works on your gpe converted att device, do you know if it works on stock att firmware, and dev edition converted att devices?
The reason I'm asking is I noticed that the main version doesn't match my current main version, also the hbootpreupdate does not match either.

This is really old, almost 2 years ago. I would not recommend installing such an old version TWRP.
For Lollipop, download TWRP 2.8.7 and flash using fastboot method: https://twrp.me/devices/htconem8gsm.html
But also recommended to update to Marshmallow firmware, in which case you want to use TWRP 3.0.2.
I found a decent priced white G3 on CL, but guy said it's from Verizon. He said it works on ATT though ? But how's that possible ? Verizon is CDMA and ATT is GSM ?
And can the Verizon version be rooted and have full TWRP Recovery installed just like the international or T-Mobile version ? None of that stupid Safestrap weird crap like ATT phones need to go through

Thx for info. But what is this "bumped" TWRP ? Is this another Safestrap weird hoop to go through ? So the Verizon G3 isn't like the International version where is can just be plainly rooted, and have the standard TWRP Recovery installed, and start flashing any CM12 ROM or whatever right away ?
Or does the Verizon version need special "Bumped" ROM's or some crappy thing ?

To Root do I need to downgrade or anything ?
I am looking to buy a used Verizon G3 on CL, and this guys phone is in sweet great condition, not rooted or anything. So I assume it's running the latest and up to date Verizon firmware and version ?
And then once I root, I just install that 'Bumped" TWRP Recovery, and flash away any Verizon ROM I want ?

If you are on 12B you have to downgrade to 10B there is a thread on how to downgrade
After downgrading. Use stumproot(bruteforce) to root. Then after use flashify to flash the bumped TWRP image. Then you can go ahead and start flashing.
I am trying to do the same thing. So basically you still use verizon variant roms and just change the apn settings for att?

How to root (with links) is explained on my thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2751432
Also, much of the "HTC specific" lingo is explained here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52484527
I would suggest reading up (and making sure you understand all the terms and processes) for at least a couple hours before trying anything on the phone. I do this every time I buy a new device, even having own quite a few HTC phones. In fact, I usually start reading and researching before I have the phone in hand.

If your talking about ROM, then take a full backup of your ROM before flashing custom ROM using titanium/nandroid etc.
Or if your talking about root,
Just unroot using unroot apps from play store or the respected app you get after rooting.

As the above reply stated, it depends on what you are talking about.
If you just want the stock ROM, recovery, etc. one option is to relock the bootloader and just run the RUU. It will return you to stock software. The only thing not "stock" will be the bootloader will say RELOCKED instead of LOCKED. You need s-off to make it say LOCKED again (after unlocking it).
?

You can return to stock with a RELOCKED bootloader with s-on.
You do need s-off if you want to make the bootloader say LOCKED as it was from the factory. But the only reason to ever do this is for warranty purposes. And if you bought the phone from AT&T, you should note that your warranty is through AT&T, not HTC. And AT&T doesn't give a crap if the bootloader is unlocked, or whatever (folks have even successfully sent in phones for warranty with custom ROMs on them).
If you are seeing warranty service through HTC (you didn't purchase from AT&T) that is another story. But that is the only reason I'd bother going back to LOCKED.
In normal usage, I recommend leaving the bootloader UNLOCKED as it give you more flexibility to flash ROMs whenever you want, etc. The only reason IMO to relock the bootloader in normal usage is to run the RUU.
S-off is nice have if you want to flash radios, modified hboots, and some other things (you also don't need to relock to RUU with s-off). It certainly doesn't hurt, and some folks like to make the phone as customizable as possible right away. In fact, I did s-off to the phone the second day I had it (although s-off was free back then). But for you, its not strictly "needed" at this time unless you want to do the things mentioned.
so heres the thing again sorry for the manny questions i am just making sure if i do this everything will work so heres the thing the rom i linked if i were to flash it will my at&t sevice work since it would be a different baseband

The baseband isn't determined by the ROM, its determined by flashing a different baseband/radio (which requires s-off).
There are some folks that have had issues on AT&T's LTE network using some custom ROMs. Namely, not receiving or sending voice calls while on LTE. But this seems somewhat random, and not the ROMs fault per se; but probably changes that AT&T is making to their network. The most you can do is flash the Skydragon ROM, and if you have problems, try another ROM or revert to stock.
Make a backup of your stock ROM with TWRP before you flash anything, to be sure you have something to revert to if you have problems. This is good general advice before you flash any custom ROMs, root mods, etc.
I'm using the ROM your linked (Skydragon Sense 7) on AT&T, and it works fine for me.
