Install apps directly to microSD card - Sony Xperia M4 Aqua

Hi guys.
I've just unlocked bootloader and afterwards rooted my phone.
Now I would like to be able install apps from google play directly to microSD card.
Will it affect anything? Apps could have some troubles with working?
I will be glad to hear your opinions.
Cheers.

Hello there. Yes I managed to do that with Link2sd but some apps won't work if they are installed on the SD ( whatsapp, Facebook) other work like they are intended to.

And another question.
I unlocked bootloader and rooted my phone. Then i did Back to factory defaults.
Did i loose my root privileges?

no, linked2sd moves the app files to a partition on your sd card, you need a fast card or you'll run in serious app lags and slow performance

I did everything from that thread.

Tried to root my phone but i have some problem

[Guide] REAL guide for FULL Apps2SD using Clockwork. [UPDT 9.28.2012]

This guide is bullet proof. It will not damage your phone in any way or make it run any risks as long as you follow step by step.
What you'll need:
Any Android phone with CWM5 installed
For S2E - A CyanogenMod rom running on your phone. (Doesn't matter if a custom rom based on CM7 or CM7 itself. If S2E doesn't work, contact your rom's developer.)
Step by Step Guide
This part of the guide can be used simply to just make a partition on your SD. You don't have to use S2E which is completely optional. You can use any other app that fits your needs.
Backup your SD card data to PC before start partitioning.
Power on your phone
Hold the Home and Power button
Use volume down button to go down to ‘advanced’.
Then press home button
Select ‘Partition SD Card’.
Select the ext size that you want (128M, 256M, 512M, 1024M, 2048M or 4096M). (I use 256MB)
Select 0M as the Swap Size.
Copy back your data to SD card.
That’s all
Next;
For S2E
Go to CM settings and check 'Application moving'
Install S2E
Check the'Applications' box
Check the 'Dalvic Cache' box
Reboot your phone
For INT2EXT+ (For CM10.1 check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37939052&postcount=1121)
Download from the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716124
Place it on the root of the SD
Make sure you delete ANY A2SD you have in your init.d folder.
Boot up CWM5
Mount system and data
Look for it and flash it (In "Install zip from SD")
Format SD EXT (In mounts and storage)
Reboot your phone
For Amarullz
Download the file attached to the first post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310309
Delete any A2SD scripts you might already have on your phone in the init.d folder
Extract the zip and put the script in the init.d folder
Change permissions to rw-r-r or to rwxrwxrwx if the first one doesn't work for you.
Reboot
I DO NOT USE LINK2SD OR RECOMMEND IT EITHER SO DON'T ASK.
When you reboot, it will take some time because of the Dalvic cache being moved to the SD card. When you install something, it will be installed automatically in the SD card, resulting in a completely empty internal storage.
NOTE FOR S2E: Some widgets or applications that have widgets, don't work while installed in the SD card. Those must be moved to the internal storage. The same thing applies to any themes you're using, launcher, camera apps, or anything else you believe should be installed internally.
NOTE 2: Please also keep in mind that when you reboot your phone (or turn it on) anything installed in the SD won't work until the phone is done scanning the SD card and confirms the item is installed.
NOTE 3: To delete the partition, you'll have to format the whole SD card. For that you have to use the Android Settings>Storage>Format SD. Any other way and the partition WILL NOT be erased. Make sure you back up before doing this.
S2E and AMARULLZ work with CM BASED ROMS ONLY but INT2EXT is UNIVERSAL.
You can try DarkTremor's script which is the same thing basically but I don't really know how to set it up so you'll have to find your own guide. And Links2SD doesn't free up that much memory but at least its something.
Please read this post carefully before asking any questions. I will ignore EVERY QUESTION who's answer is on this post.
Thanks to DavySML125 for the CM10.1 tip.
Fun fact: I use my own guide every time I flash a new rom

Depends on how much memory you think you'll consume. I'd still say go for 1GB. I have 100+ apps installed and I haven't even used half that GB. I'm using a 8GB class 4 or 6 (I forgot) and I'm thinking of lowering it to 500MB.
Does that with cyanogen and not on stock rom.

[Q] Install apps on external SD Card without rooting the phone

Hi to All,
After some search, i cound't find a solution to the following problem.
With jelly bean, the management of the external/internal sd card is at least tricky. I would like to install my apps by default on the (larger) external sd card, but without rooting my phone (not to loose orange cinema series, an app from orange france that doesn't work if the telephone is rooted).
I tried various possibilities without success, but i think that the right direction could be swapping the internal and external sd card by using adb or similar. Anybody has a good suggestion? anybody that succeeded?
Best,
Piero
Why would you "not" root your phone?
Well, anyway.. have you tried app2sd in the market? I dunno if you need to be rooted to use it
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Not ALL app are moveable to sd card. Only one that support it. You need root for forcing app to instal sd card but yoy dont need root to move supported app.

Sir I want to place obbs on external SD card but I know that's not possible unless I root and use a app like Link2Sd but a week back I installed Plant vs Zombies 2 and it didn't recognize the obb when placed in ln internal so I placed it on my external SD card and I don't know how butt it started using the obb and I started playing but at that time I wanted everything in my internal memory so I spent hours restarting uninstalling and at last it started working on internal.
But my point is now when I try to place on external it doesn't recognize at all after many tries and I myself know it isn't possible because the obb isn't meant to be on external so I am trying to say that how then did it work on external for first time? how it can be? If it was an accident then it can happen again!! then do we really have to root our phone and use link2sd or IS THERE A NON ROOT WAY OF DOING THIS THAT WE NOT KNOW

I'll start by saying that I know very little about the workings of android games and obb files. I think the obb file handling is done by the app, and some games support these data files on external sd, while others don't. I presume link2sd uses symlinks to make files on the sd cards behave like files on internal storage, so that non sd card friendly games also work with data on sd. I don't know if you need root to make the necessary symlinks.
Anyway, your question is not really relevant to this thread it seems.

I am really sorry for spoiling ur thread
Now this is my last
Sir I was talking about what accidentally happened and i f we could repeat the process I totally agree with u that an app should be designed to pick up obbs from external card only then it will read as I have a game LIMBO(I recommend u to play it too its the best game ever) it can read from external so I place its obb in external and it works
But I know plant vs zombies 2 isn't designed or programmed to pick up obb from external so then how the app started thinking the external as internal and picked up obb from it
If u don't know please recommend me a specific thread or what to do next
And sir I have some doubts about something ill send u messages and I don't want to spoil ur thread so please do answer them
Thank u very much for ur support till now

I had no problems moving apps to sd... You are doing it wrong... No root necessary
I am still on 4.4.4 with root and LB as I dont want to upgrade to lollipop and lose root+x reality. The update detail says "move apps to sd card" so I guess we can only move apps.
Yes, I believe you can move some apps to SD card ? . I believe it mentions this on Sony Xperia™ support site.

Right i'm able to move indvidual apps through apps. But still unable to make it at smooth.
Settings-> Manage Apps. Click on the app you want to move and click 'Move to sd Card'. Once moved to sd card, the button description will change to 'Move to Phone'. If the app is a system app, it may have this button disabled. If your not root, then I would suggest you root your phone to give you more permissions (these buttons may be disabled on non-root devices). Your sd card is fine, it maybe slow, but it should still work. There are apps on the market which can move apps to sd card but they may require root.

It's the same story as with alcohol or with drugs, you know its bad and not good for your health but there is that insane curiosity, and with some guys they will continue even though they have had bad experiences...

In order to flash a custom ROM you have to first have root in the first place. Root gives you the permission to do things on your phone when normally you wouldn't beable to do so (Like flash a custom ROM {which means modified OS}).
You should search the forums and get good at searching the forums and google. Internet peeps don't like people who ask questions that have already been answered. Just a piece of friendly advice yo.
