Hello! I was redirected here from XDA Assist Forum for the following.
The device i am using is a Kindle Fire HDX 7 32GB running Thor-Gapps-13.3.2.4-v1 ROM.
I've been searching for an answer on how to get an OTG cable to work for my Kindle to play roms. I tried a much older method http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1652800 but with no result. USB OTG isn't enabled on this device. I believe it is at the kernel level and since we don't yet have a released bootloader unlock, all ROMs have to use the stock Fire OS kernel.

Still the case? Any idea from anyone of the developers if its ever going to be a possibility? I'm about to buy another one due to its perfect physical size for my mod need and I need OTG for an FM Radio.

Apparently not. I've just plugged my USB flash drive in with an OTG cable and nothing.
they're screwing with us. Its not a cheap phone after all, so sony could add support for this, but nooo....
I read somewhere that Android M will have native support for flash drives, and giving the fact that this device is new its high possible
that it will get Android M support, with could possible fix that problem.

Sony announced an update t 5.1 for the M2 and M2 Aqua see blogs.sonymobile.com/2015/06/04/android-5-0-lollipop-rolls-for-the-xperia-z-series-android-5-1-coming-for-xperia-m2-and-xperia-m2-aqua
So I think there is a change for us to get Android M.

Seriously? Sony will update M2 to Lollipop 5.1 and it has already announced a Developer Preview of Android M for Z series (plus two or three minor model).
We'll surely receive Android M.

Today sony announced that the sources fir M4 are available on github. So even if Sony won't create 5.1 fir us, there is a good chance that there will be a cyanogenmod ie other alternative roms.

As you can see in the attachment, sony has confirmed that we will get official Android M! I think thats great news, I saw Sony committed on github... They committed into a new branch called 'master' Its newer then lp so I think thats the M device tree.
Lets hope for Google to release M soon, then we will have it also soon

I have seen them on some sites.
Xperia L got OTG support through a similar method.
Please confirm i am really looking forward to buy the m4 aqua.

I had a Samsung Galaxy Ace 3 LTE and too no OTG support.. But when you use Y OTG cable and add software otg support, it worked.. Maybe here it will same?

What cable are you using? I have Y type USB otg cable and i tried putting power to the one end through either usb port of pc or charger but nothing happened. I tried several softwares from market. If somebody succeeded with certain cable and software please post links.
Can you kindly check whether sony m4 aqua has a usbhost driver. You can check this via AIDA64 app, goto devices in the app. What i believe is that if a usbhost driver is present otg should work.but sony removed powering up of the usb device.
Hence it might be possible to get otg through a powered otgcable.
Xperia L got OTG through a similar method.
I didn't buy the m4 because of otg problem and lack of storage.
It is not a cheap phone too.
OTG is a must.
I checked but do not see such thing in devices in aida 64. We may only hope on future update to bring up this support.
recently bought the m4 aqua DUAL
i was wondering if the m4 aqua dual had the same overheating issues the regular m4 aqua does, the most up to date firmware version is one month newer on the dual than regular m4

There is no such driver unfortunately. I hope that sony will add it in future.

USB Audio issue & Xposed installation Arm64
While I am loving having a standard android experience on my Shield Android TV, I don't seem to get any audio out via USB. The DAC I am using is locked to 24 bit 96khz and shows as being synchronised but I get no audio. Audio is still coming out of HDMI. Everything worked with standard firmware. The setting for preventing automatic USB audio routing in developer settings is switch off... anyone have the same issue and know how to resolve?
Also - as mentioned by another poster - I am receving an error when trying to install Xposded. The error message suggests that it is looking for the arm (32bit) version rather than the 64bit. I am pretty certain we should be using Arm64 - so am I doing something stupid when trying to install via TWRP?

Still not getting USB audio (24bit/96k) in the latest versions of the ROM. Is this a problem for anyone else? Really need USB audio so will need to go back to stock if this isn't going to be resolved. Happy to try and help with any troubleshooting.

Hello all.
So I followed this guide but I messed up on one crucial step. Instead of just wiping user data and cache I also wiped (system). In any case I was able to flash the ROM and it fully boots with all the sweet animations but it boots to a black screen. I only see the mouse and that's all.
If I hold the power button I only get the option to power off.
Any tips?

Gapps..?
I've rooted and installed the rom and working well. Very nice work! I am having problems installing Gapps. Perhaps it's the wrong version. The link sends you to a github link and I've used that. After flashing that gapps I still have no google services. Can you provide the gapps file name I need to download? thanks much
Fire TV box remote pairs fine
Was able to pair the Fire TV remote with this rom. Go into pairing, hold home button down on remote and refresh. Works great.
Hello guys. This rom is great, but I don't have Dolby digital sound anymore after flashing it. Anyone with the same issue? Any advice to solve it? Thanks.

Nvidia Shield controller no longer works after full Android is installed on Shield TV
I was able to install full Android on the Nvidia Shield TV. The problem I have now is that the Nvidia Shield controller no longer works. Is there any app available that would enable the Shield controller to work with the full Android on the Shield TV?

I see tutorials for other variants of the honor to enable usb otg but not for the l24 variant. If its available and I'm just missing it point it out to me but so far I haven't found a solution.

I too, wish to activate OTG on my first smart phone. From my little understanding CM13 will indeed utilize the OTG, but no longer support the finger print scannner. It maybe (will be) over my head, but why can't both utilities be accessed at the same time?

Fingerprint scanner has been working fine in CM13 sense 7/20/16 all you need to do is update to MM first

The Honor 5x is now upto EMUI 4.0, Android 6.whatever
On this ROM, EMUI4.0 stock from Huawei, there is no OTG support. It isn't from lack of hardware being present- the kernel (the clump of code that runs the physical hardware directly) doesn't include the coding to do the deed. Why not? Well, personally I think it may have something to do with the way OTG devices are powered by the phone.
CM13 currently supports fingerprint scanner (FPS for short).
You misunderstand the issue for the FPS versus OTG functionality; let me explain:
FPS wasn't working on custom ROMs because the source code for EMUI 4.0 (M) wasn't released. FPS isn't something you can activate with a single line of code.
Also, FPS requires certain code clumps from Huawei directly, thus we need to update to FULL EMUI4.0 STOCK STATUS before using any ROM that may access the FPS.
OTG isn't available on stock because Huawei didn't activate it.
If you use a custom ROM, all these 'issues' basically disappear.
I still don't suggest charging one phone off of another phone. Or using a portable hard drive without exterior power. You can watch the battery drain.

Just use a better ROM, like CM13.

Flashh the latset CM13 nightly
The device ships with Android 8.1 (= Treble enabled) and Xiaomi usually lets users unlock the bootloader. Does that mean we can simply flash a generic system image (GSI) and enjoy a fully working tablet from day 1?
EDIT: Summary of findings as of November 25, 2018
After unlocking the device and flashing TWRP a GSI can be installed. However, Universal DM-Verity (and ForceEncrypt) Disable is needed to be able to boot (might have to flash twice and/or reformat data to lose encryption). See Installation guide by GBouerat.
The device works fine and can be used as a daily driver. However, there are a few things not working, buggy or needed to be set up. Specifically you need to adjust the DPI settings in /vendor/build.prop:

WiFi is not automatically turned on after boot => works for some on AOSP phh v23/v25; works for me only for a short moment when setting up as new device (no backup from cloud!) or once when clearing Dalvik/ART cache in TWRP; might have something to do with signing into Play Services (tbc)

But you'll have to wait for the 72hrs. They are device-dependent. I got my Mix 2 a few weeks ago, and even though I already had permissions to UNLOCK in general, I had to wait for another 72hrs just like with my Mi5X before.
It's stupid but you have to wait 72hrs for every new device you want to unlock. But if you relock it after unlocking and then want to unlock it again, you don't have to wait.

It's 360 hours for newer devices. Had to wait 15 days for my redmi note 5 smfh.

As long as I don't have to wait months and months for a device-specific custom ROM, I can live with the 72 hrs. If anyone successfully installed a GSI on this device, please let us know!

does anyone here has real development knowledge and not just "i install a GSI and everything will be fine"?
Im actually thinking of buying this device so to let you know without a kernel source, which xiaomi didnt released for now, its VERY HARD to compile a GSI without correct boot.img and i dont mean the stock boot.img rom as (most) vendors modify their ramdisk to only boot their OS.
Also flashing a GSI doesnt mean to give a fully working system from day 1 there could be plenty of bugs even, it just makes the general system ready to work.
Nontheless this could be solved with getting the sources and a bit of device bringup here and there, i even personally prefer the old school way of building and not the GSI way (as it gives you full control of what youre actually building with every parameter tweakable) but thats just a personal thought from me as dev.

Yeah who knows whats up with Xiaomi. I had to wait 72hrs for both my phones and a few days for getting the permission for unlocking

Unluckily the seller doesnt ships from europe as he stated yesterday and I dont wanna pay 250€ plus custom duties plus shipping on this device. I need to wait until the price gets lower or it's available in EU somewhere. Or does anyone knows a good cheap seller who ships to germany?

No sry they cheapest thing i could find was 200€+15€ shipping for the 3+32 version. We'll probably have to wait until it officialy comes to Europe. (If it does at all.)

No Germany (where he's coming from) and Austria (my country) charge fees when importing from a country outsite of the EU (And maybe other countries idk). This comes in at between 20-40€ and depends on the price of the product. And prices on gearbest are even higher than the other stores due to big demant in china I guess.
