I've owned the international version of the z5c since it was released. I use it on AT&T in the U.S. For the last few weeks I have not been able to send or receive MMS picture messages. When I try to send one, I just get a red error that says something like "could not send. Touch to retry." If I touch to retry, I get the same message again.
When I receive an mms, instead of automatically loading the picture, I get a box that says "touch to download" but then I just get an error message if I touch to download.
Until several weeks ago, both sending and receiving worked fine.
I'm not aware of having made any changes that might've broken something.
Any ideas? Anybody else on AT&T experiencing similar issues?

No issues here, using nxtgenphone APN and Textra with MMS carrier limit = 1MB, MMS Behavior = Legacy.

Thanks. I'm using Google messenger. Maybe I'll try a different app.
I've tried both "phone" and "nxtgenphone" apns and both do the same thing.

Update: I did a factory reset and mms are working now with the stock Sony messaging app. I'll use that for a few days to make sure it's still working and then switch back to Google messenger.

I have been having issues with my MMS on my photon since I got it. When someone sends me an MMS it comes from the number 9000 with a link to the sprint pictures website like back in the pcs days. I can send MMS fine and it shows up inline like it should. I have tried everything I can think of to fix it including flashing different roms and the issue persists.
Any ideas?
Possible PRL/Profile update problem or just bad service right now.
It's does that in mine as well as my friends epic thinking sprint has the problem not the phone

My PRL and profile are up to date and it happens no matter what my service is like. My wifes evo shift is fine...
I was having a similar problem where I wasn't receiving mms. I called Sprint and they updated my profile and boom its all back to normal.

My daughter has the Epic it happened to her and me last week.
I cant send mms while roaming. It gives me a error that says I don't have a data connection. But I clearly do because I am posting this message while roaming. I checked all the settings I can find and they all show that roaming data is enabled. Any ideas?

If I understand this correctly, the fix to the following problem is to call Sprint to have them update my profile? I ask this because the last few times I have called Sprint regarding this issue they did not know what I was talking about:
All MMS text messages come from the number 9000, and prompt me to click on a link to view the picture on the Sprint picture mail site, instead of simply viewing the photo in the MMS message itself.
Thanks.
Randomly this evening, my phone has decided that it no longer wants to send any MMS messages. I can send SMS messages just fine, but MMS messages do not go through. They sit for a while, and then it just says that the text message cannot be sent.
Anyone have any suggestions that don't involve factory resetting?

You have 2 options.
1)do master reset and retest it.
2) call your cell carrier.
I had a similar problem a few nights ago. All I had to do was reboot it.
That's all I need to do for a few random glitches.

Do you have data disabled? I noticed when data is disabled, mms do not go through..
Sent from my XT910 using Tapatalk
No, data was enabled. I was able to browse the internet and such, so I don't think it was a connectivity problem. But it's fixed now, so I guess it really doesn't matter.

Okay. When I said it was fixed that was actually a lie. It's started doing it again. I have no idea what caused it, but it will sometimes work and sometimes not. Any ideas anyone?

Will it be the APN settings problems?
In some country you have to set your mms APN manual
Mine does the same thing. A restart is only a temporary fix because it has done it again a day later or so. I have not found anything to fix it yet.
I am on 4g. Not on wifi. unlimited messages.

Try this on dialpad
*#*#4636#*#*
Wacth phone services
Then tap second right update buttom
It must be filled with Service Center Number, for sms/mms data. If you get 'update error', you may have a bug in system that prevents it from correctly setup of older sim cards (mostly cutted ones), if so, buy a new micro sim. It's cheap and solves a lot of small problems
Thanks, and if helps any way, share the learnin'

I tried this but every time I entered the code nothing popped up. But I think I've figured it out. It appears to only happen when I'm connected to a WiFi network. So I guess I just have to disconnect from WiFi if I want to send an MMS message.

I had the same issue, tried a number of things to fix it. Called Verizon and apparently it's a known issue that they expect to be fixed with the upcoming GB update. Other than that the only way I was able to workaround was installing Go SMS Pro, which sent MMS messages fine.
I figured out what the problem is! It stems back to the problem the Razr has with switching between 3G and 4G. In my house, I have to use WiFi because I live on the edge of a 4G service area. I get maybe one bar of 4G service, which without WiFi, pretty much refuses to do anything having to do with data. Apparently, even though WiFi is enabled, the MMS messages are NOT being transmitted over WiFi. So instead, it attempts to send them over 4G cellular data and fails because of the poor reception in my house. Switching the phone from CDMA/LTE to CDMA only before sending the messages (my signal reception jumps to 4 bars) allows it to send without failing.

Anyone else having this issue? I can send MMS just fine when i get a data signal. Also calls and SMS are working great over wifi calling....just cant seem to send a MMS.
I use Handcent and have no problem.
Have this issue too
I have this issue as well, when WiFi Calling is activated I cannot send or receive MMS messages.
I'm still completely stock.

I think is the way the tmobile sets it up to turn of the wireless radio but wifi, I seem that on my one s, but if you use another app im like Handcent it uses it wifi so you dont have the problems, again thats my experience on one s, Im waiting for my galaxy s 3 still

Tried handcent with no luck. Still can't send or receive MMS.
I have an s3 and also have this issue - anyone find a solution?
Google a little bit. Sounds like this is a known issue for T-Mobile on many different devices. :-(

Really? I never had the problem while texting
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Unfortunately this is an issue, but I don't know if the blame can be placed on TMobile, as the stock messaging app will allow me to send an MMS over WIFI. The reason being is that MMS is sent using the carrier's data connection. With the stock app, while using wifi, it disconnects from the wifi connection just long enough to send the MMS. However, when using a third party, it does not register and therefor isn't sent until you disconnect from the wifi or resend through the stock app.
Works for me bro. But then again, my data is always on...
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
This is a pretty crap issue.
I have no damn signal in my house (even though I really should), so Wifi Calling is a godsend (even though it likes to randomly turn off).
But I've got five MMS pending download because of a group text, and I can't reply. I would have to go up the street to get them.
I'm on Verizon and have the same problem. Only solution to sending and receiving is to clear data, but have to do that every time i send or receive an MMS on stock. tried Go SMS and Handcent, and get the same issues.

This worked for me at work and at home. Just need to do this for every wifi access point you use. I found this on Rootzwiki.
Long press on your Wifi connection
Press "Modify Network"
Scroll down to IP Settings and change that from "DHCP" to "Static"
Scroll down to DNS and enter the following information:
DNS 1 - 8.8.4.4
DNS 2 - 8.8.8.8
Press Save
REBOOT YOUR PHONE! This is important.

My phone is not rooted, haven't changed the APN at all, using GoSMS Pro as my texting app of choice......the problem is that I can send, but can't receive any MMS messages. Any idea what I can look for to see if it's a phone setting issue? I have confirmed with AT&T that things are setup up properly...i'm stumped

Have you check the stock app and are you on wifi?

I usually turn of mobile data when I'm on WiFi and I've realized that you cannot receive them on WiFi (not sure about sending). I had to turn mobile data on, while on WiFi, in order to receive MMS.
APN issue?

I learned that when I had my Atrix 2, so thats not the problem....APN is set to the stock settings, have not been messed with at all. Stock messaging app is the same, will send but wont receive mms. I got a call from an AT&T tech in Atlanta today telling me they have rectified the network issue. We tried it again but still no go, he said it sounds like I have a defective device cause everything in my account is set how it should be, no more network issues bit the problem remains. Gonna swap it out this evening.

I'm having a problem with MMS messages. Whenever I try to receive MMS messages I get this error:
Message not downloaded
Generic network failure
I flashed a new version of the ROM I'm running, and confirmed that the APN settings are correct. When I am going from zero text messages this is not a problem. When I restore my 17k text messages, I suddenly cannot receive MMS. Is there something I need to do in order to fix this? I've seen this happen with three different roms so I'm guessing this is an android issue and not something specific.
FYI, I flattened the phone back to stock. Then I installed a custom rom but no restored messages and I can't receive mms messages again.

I have the same issue, and it's intermittent. What I have found is stopping the mms service from settings, apps, all and restarting fixes it for a bit.

I think I might have just found a solution to the issue, at least for me. I had Ad Block installed, and when I uninstalled it, MMS was functional again.
