I've got an Archor 50c Oxygen and I configured a Privacy Protection Password and can't remeber the code. All the roms are stock. I also performed a Factory reset in the Android Recovery menu and a Wipe Cache before installing the upgrade but to no avail. Is there anyone that can tell me where I can find and remove the file responisble or how I can perform a full wipe and flash of my phone. Loss of data is no problem as that has already happend.

Is it better to wipe from phone settings or from recovery menu?
What are the differences?
I want to wipe phone, because I installed too much crap and some of it can't be uninstalled and some apps I don't use some apps that I've installed because "maybe they come in handy".

I like to wipe from recovery
Wiping from settings will delete all third party apps and data on the phone without any user error in the wiping process. Within recovery you may choose what to wipe but may accidentally wipe something such as your SD card by accident.
Sent from my Hero that never dies! ;D
Just to be awkward, I'm going to throw a third option at you:
From a Samsung phone, you can dial :
*#*#7780#*#*
To perform full wipe/factory reset.
It is important to note that using this, or selecting reset from the menu is effectively the same thing as using recovery anyway, as all it will do is boot into recovery and wipe the data/cache.
I bought a used i9100 and it came with the users previous settings and data on it but cannot seem to wipe it out...
I have tried going to settings, privacy and reset but that option is asking me for a password which I don't know.
I have gone into Android System recovery 3e and have done wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition but upon reboot all the data and everything remains the same.
I'm not sure if the phone has been rooted or not. Here are some details about the phone.

I would just like it back to factory normal state. Also judging by the back of the phone, this appears to be a spanish model. Could I get a factory U.S rom on it?
Thanks!
Sigh...
I tried doing a firmware upgrade via Samsung Kies. Everything appears to have gone through successfully but when the phone reboots, everything remains the same. What the heck did the previous user do to the phone?
Can you factory reset after rooting your Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tab?
Thanks for any insight on this issue.
I want to keep the root. just need to reset to factory specs.
Yes. Go to Settings>Privacy> and then select "Factory Data Reset" This will reset all settings and delete all of your data on the device. If you need a more serious reset than that, you will need to either clear data via clockworkmod recovery or re-flash via ODIN. (Warning: Reflashing with ODIN will remove your root and return you to stock.) If you just want to reset to factory settings and wipe your data, the "Factory Data Reset" will do what you need. Good luck.
The factory reset worked without incident. Only thing that didn't erase was the pictures that I took with the built in camera. I was having trouble with a push ad. Finally figured out what which app it was. Thanks for the help
Hello, should I wipe/factory data reset after I rooted my device ?
Probably not, unless you have a ROM stored on your device that you would like to flash over your existing OS.
I have a question that must be obvious to many but I don't know the answer and am curious.
Right now I am rooted and if I want to install a new rom I do the factory reset and wipe caches in recovery and then install the custom rom.
What happens if
1. I do this reset and clear caches within recovery and just reboot without installing a rom?
2. What happens if I do a factory reset with settings?
I know the phone will start in setup mode but will it have the last rom I installed or what?
If you're wiping system too, then the phone won't boot - except to recovery if you tell it to. If you're not wiping system but you're wiping data, then the phone will boot but be like you just installed it new for the first time and you have to set it up.
I'm not positive what Factory Reset within settings will do, if it works or not, when you have a custom recovery installed. Normally under a completely stock ROM with stock recovery, Factory Reset from Settings or from the stock recovery would wipe everything but system. It wipes Data, Cache, Dalvik, and internal storage. You can achieve the same thing from custom recovery if you wish to. And yes, as long as you didn't wipe System, the last ROM you had installed would boot.
Doing a factory reset from settings with twrp installed should be like doing a factory reset in twrp. TWRP will takeover when the phone restarts to do the factory reset. At least that is how it was with my Moto X phones. I've done it with Jasmine on my G3, but don't remember the outcome. It was only a few days ago too. Lol. I'm a retard.
