5X Version: L24 (130)
Mightytext is background apk that allows you to send/receive SMS from your PC or tablet using a web-based interface (desktop version is also available).
Since moving from my GS4 to the 5x, SMS msgs that I send from my PC or tablet do not show up as sent in the SMS app on the 5X (they are sent though). When sent from the phone, the outbound SMS does appear in Mightytext on the PC/Tablet. Seems like there is something about the 5X that prevents it from syncing SMS msgs sent from the web app to the android APK. Just wondering if anyone else has run into this as it's rather annoying.
Troubleshooting:
All apps set to protected
Powersaving: Normal
Tested other similar apps with same result (MySMS)
Tested multiple SMS apps with same result (Hangouts, Textra, Google Messenger)

Had the same problem. The issue is that the messaging app on the 5x doesn't seem to treat those as valid messages, so it won't display them. I use mySMS for the same thing, and I ended up just using mySMS on the phone as well. That took care of the problem.

Hi everybody,
does anybody know if it is possible to install a SMS client on the GT 10.1v? Being it a 3G Tablet it should be possible to activate the SMS messaging ... I had been using the same SIM-card in a Samsung Netbook where it was possible to write text messages. The tab didn't let me install GO SMS.
Thanks!
I've installed WhatsApp and it want to send a SMS message before it starts. When I enter a correct phonenumber, WhatsApp presents an error telling me that it's not possible to send an SMS.
It appears the current firmware doesn't support SMS/Phone operations. Perhaps a custom rom in the near future will solve this problem.
I've tried to use Go SMS & Go Dialer, but without any luck.
Google talk floating around xoom forum can send SMS but replies are going to my phone

I use sync SMS on my 10.1 wifi tab... install on tablet then on phone... must have a dropbox account. Works really good.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
using dropbox seems like a poor way of doing it..
I just started on one myself that does it through bluetooth
that's also not a perfect way of doing it but it seems better than dropbox to me
then again, I have no idea if it will work through bluetooth. I literally just started on it yesterday so I basically have zero functionality so far.
I just saw that HTC Flyer on Android 2.4 does have an SMS App working. Couldn't we just rip the app of the Flyer and install on the GT?
How could we get the messaging (SMS) app from the Flyer to try?
My GO SMS works nicely!

@fscherz
Sorry if I am being dumb - you got GoSMS working on a 10.1V? How comes? I have in the meantime only managed to get it installed. But - as predicted - it would not send any SMS.
I can send SMS using the messaging function in the message app.
textab is the best sms app out there in my opinion. unless your trying have a set number to the tab and text from it.
Sign up for a Google Voice number for free. ( google.com/voice ) Make sure you go through the settings and don't have it forward texted to your current cell phone number but just to the email address used to sign up.
Use the Google Voice App from the market or the one already preinstalled on the Tab. Log in using your Google Voice account and start texting using your new Google Voice phone number to any cell phone number.
DeskSMS is the ONLY way to go for SMS from a tablet, desktop, or web interface. Doesn't require an active bluetooth connection or Dropbox. It just forwards all my SMS to my Google Talk account, and I can reply directly within Google Talk on my Tablet or Trillian on my PC.
Google voice now supports tablets. I use it all the time to text from the tab.

@SacTilt
thanks for this lil beauty!
I have Sprint and an integrated google voice number. I also have a tablet I use to send/receive GVoice messages. Problem is, only the received messages will show up on my phone...any message sent through GVoice isn't there. Ps, I understand WHY, just looking for a way to get around it.
Is there any app/technique available (searched FOREVER) that will allow my phone to sync up with the sent messages from GVoice? Essentially, I want to be able to have a gvoice only conversation on the tablet and have the same conversation show up on the phone.
Thanks!
Bump. Have an app that can send GV from the native SMS system.
GV Intergration
But I cannot get GV messages received in the native message app without forwarding the text through the proper SMS phone number. I thought there was an an option for this in the GV app, but it doesn't seem to make a difference for me.
I just emailed the developer of the GV Integration app asking if he had any ideas on how to do this. Unfortunately, the Google Voice app is the only one I've found that will sync messages instantly (or at all). I SMS a *lot* from my laptop browser via google.com/voice and the Google Voice chrome plugin.. so it would suck to only see one side (incoming) of the text thread.
I'll definitely let you guys know if I find anything.
damnit google.. open up the freakin api already.
Also.. if you do use the Google Voice app.. there's an app on the market called NotifierPro that works with the Android Google Voice app to display popups of incoming text messages... which is convenient.
You can send text mesages with GVI, then have them forwarded back to your phone. That would work if you have unlimited inbound texts, but it cuts prepaid texting in half, which is nice, but could be nicer.

Well, I'm glad others have an interest in something like this too. I've been using mysms recently...it's by no means reliable and it relies on your phone to send/receive (unlike GV) but it works ok for now. Mighty text works better as far a reliability goes, but is terrible with the tablet browser, doesn't support notifications, and still relies on the phone...still not GV. I guess we'll just gave to wait.
Argh...the GV integration app ALMOST works. It might just be a matter of getting the settings right. Messages sent from a Google Voice web browser get integrated into handcent (Usually after you receive a message). I just keep running into problems with duplicate messages, not getting notifications from handcent (messages still show up), etc depending on the settings I choose between the GV/Handcent/GV Integration apps.
SO frustrating...has anyone had better luck?
Looking for a way to keep text sent from the browser and tablet synced with my phone as well. Im using Sprints GV integration as well.
I know this thread is old but for anybody that finds this post you should know that cm10.2 roms have voice+ which integrates messages sent from a computer to your phones message store
Wow thread resurrection! Yes it's awesome. Been using it since Koush came out with Babel. Recent nightlies though, receiving messages has been spotty. Are you using nightlies and or are you seeing this too?

For anyone else, the app Sliding Messaging (on play store, or if you search xda) just added Google voice integration.

With the new hangouts app, will we be able to receive SMS from our Nexus 10?

No, SMS go through the cellular radio like voice calls, not via Wi-Fi or even 3G data connections.
There are plenty of web-based SMS services (Google Voice, for relevant instance), but the Nexus 10 can not, and can never, send SMS natively

Well that sucks, I thought hangouts would become something like iMessage. Couldn't they sync SMS over WiFi and our Google account like MightyText does?

Don't know about the syncing bit for definite (at least until my N5 arrives and I play around with and my N10 together), however it DOES function almost exactly like iMessage in that if your contact also has Hangouts then you can send your message via the Hangouts IM protocol
Even iMessage (as I understand it) cannot send an SMS to a contact without a cellular modem (i.e. tablets of any type, even iPads). If your contact runs iOS, then they will receive an iMessage regardless of tablet or phone, however it is not an SMS, it is an IM through the iMessage servers and protocol...

I added a slight more clarification on my last paragraph that you might not have seen before quoting!
As a separate workaround, you can use Tablet Talk, which links between your cell and N10. It allows you to send SMS through Tablet Talk on the N10 via your cell phone.
Hey guys,
Whenever I install android messages app which is provided by google, it do not see any sms already present in the phone. Other apps like miui stock sms app, SMS organiser works perfectly fine. But only problem occurs with android messages. Is this a bug or something is wrong with my phone? I have over 20,000 sms but none is getting displayed in android messages.

Thanks in advance.

I have a Huawei phone, which doesn't sync with the Samsung Messages app. Is there another app I can download to the tablet that will allow me to send SMS using my phone? I use the standard Google Messages SMS app on the Huawei and have no desire to switch. Thanks.
I've a P30 Pro, I use Tablet Messenger for Google Messenger and WhatsApp, works really well.

You can try Pulse. It looks and works like Google messenger but allows sending and receiving from multiple devices once your phone is set up as the main device.

Same here...even get to use it for phone calls...not that i want to...since i use the tablet to "escape". :silly:
Google Voice isn't available in the UK ? maybe when Pulse gets RCS support, that may be the answer ...
Mighty text
Wish RCS was more open... would be nice if iphones could use it too.
Been using Mightytext for years and works well across many device families.
Is RCS available to mighty text yet?
have google released the RCS APIS ?
