Power button causes Bootloop - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, ive just switched back to stock rom but before and after this my power button has become hyper sensitive and has caused constant bootloop. I tap the power button lightly and then the phone shuts down and goes into a bootloop. I dont know what to do. I need to fix this ASAP because this phone is my daily driver !!!

Is it rellay a bootloop (so you see the bootlogo) or do you only see the splash screen (Samsung galaxy sIII logo)?
Have you replaced your battery with a non-original one? I had the same problem with one from Anker. After using again my older samsung battery the problem has gone.
But it is also known that the S3's power button has a limited lifetime, so it could probably be broken, so a repair would be needed.

[Q] Bootloop after disassembly

I was having some problems with my headphone jack and i opened my Galaxy Note to check it out. Took only those flat cables around it and used a Contact Cleaner. After that, it's stuck on bootloop.
I had a recovery mode installed and the touch wasn't working at all (TWRP)!
I tried to flash a stock rom, which removed the recovery mode, but kept the same problem.
What could i possibly try?
How far does it actually get before it loops back? Samsung logo? Boot animation? Home screen?
You might have a stuck power button.

Samsung logo.
I'm going to guess your power button is stuck.

I should try to disassembly again?
Thanks for the answer.
The stuck power button is a very common defect in the original Galaxy note. It either gets literally stuck, or misaligned and is constantly pressed. I fixed mine by flicking the backside of the phone with my finger by the button. Some have fixed it by tapping the button rapidly. Others needed to take it apart and clean the physical button itself.

Couldn't be possible that the touchscreen is causing some sort of short circuit and the cellphone shuts itself as a prevention? I'm thinking that cause when i first managed to enter the Recovery Mode TWRP (before flashing a new rom), the touch wasn't working at all.
I'll try your alternative as well and will report tomorrow.

Shutting off/staying on issue

My S3 is on stock ROM.
I've been having an issue of endless reboots, so I googled the issue and came upon removing the power button thinking my problem was due to a faulty power button. I did so in removing the power button, but the issue is still present. It doesn't have an endless reboot anymore, but just doesn't stay on once it's unplugged from a charging source (won't even stay on when charging through my computer, only an outlet).
I honestly can't figure out what the real issue could be since removing the power button did not solve it. Battery? Faulty part on the logic board? I am pretty baffled and any help would be appreciated.

Galaxy Note i717 Shuts off

Hi I have a Note i717 with a custom rom and when I installed it ,I noticed my battery was draining quickly and sometimes it'll shut off at 100% and the battery had swollen up..I got a new one then the phone was working fine but the battery was still draining too fast.So when the phone gets to the splash screen it shuts off and restart. It does it over and over. I've tried different ROMs and it still does it.. I thought it was the battery again,I order a new one and it still does it. I've done the flicking of the power button, didn't work.Took it apart it and cleaned around the power button too. Some of the ROMs will make it to the home screen then it'll shut off after about 20 seconds. Some ROMs doesn't make it that far.It stays on only in recovery mode and download .Any advice? Thanks in advance.
Broken power button
This happened to me. I went to a repair shop and they fixed it for 10 dollars. I suggest that you do that also.

Random Shutoffs and a Single click of the Power button shuts off

So I have a galaxy s3 running Cyanogenmod 12.1 rooted and recently its just been randomly shutting off. It works fine for a bit then just shuts off out of nowhere. Also, whenever I only click the power button it shows the power off, reset, etc. popup then just shuts off before I can even cancel it. This does it sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. After it shuts off and I try to boot it, it goes to the boot screen and just shuts off again. It takes a bunch of tries just to get it up and running again, only to randomly shut off again. I actually only rooted it recently and soon after these problems started showing up, so it may be a software issue.

but maybe your power button could be broken.
you could also try if the problem appears on stock ROM flashed by odin

Ah I have not replaced the battery. I have heard that a common issue was a broken power button so I'll go check that out. This has happened right after I rooted the phone so I'll try to see it if is a software issue first

dead mobile! need help please

I have s2 i9100 (international) working on dorimanX kernel and 4.4 AOSP NeatRom
yesterday i was using my device normaly, and it rebooted suddenly and stuck at samsung logo. i removed the battery and try to turn it on again many times but no change. i try to access recovery mode but i couldnt. I remove the battery and try again but now the screen is totally black. I removed the battery for a long time. and try to turn it on later but nothing the screen is still black and there is no sound or light at all. I noticed after pressing the power button the mobile is hot like it's working
Charge the phone for a bit.
If you can boot into Download mode, there's still a chance to save your phone.
there was no possibility since the screen was black
the motherboard was down. and i replace it with a new one. it's a bad thing that i lost my data :/
Yeah.....that's a classic symptom of a fried motherboard......no life on the screen and the device heating up when on charge......the chances of recovering data in cases like this are pretty much non existent.......
