Can't boot into recovery- bootloop and broken Volume UP. - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello. Today i wanted to change my OS on my S3. So i have done it, i wanted to do some upgrades like viper4android. I have broken volume up, so the only way to get into recovery is in android only. So, I installed it, and i have bootloop. I cant boot to fastboot (volume up needed), and ofcourse recovery. I can see only bootloop... I just have to boot into recovery. How to do that? Help, please. Thanks.

Does adb recognize your device? If so
adb reboot recovery
If you don't have adb then go get them via Google

Well, i tried, but my phone isn't recognized on my pc. I just plug it into pc, and nothing. Tried on netbook, nothing . Dunno why. Its normal?

You have drivers installed?

I know this is an old thread, but I figured it'd be better to hijack it than create a new one.
A while back my phone started randomly freezing and rebooting, last week it just got into a bootloop instead, my volume up key isn't working, so I can't go into recovery-mode nor download-mode (since one has to press volume up to continue), I've tried to use adb, using a script to wait for a connection, then instantly freezing it so it can either send over a file or just boot into recovery, but it seems it doesn't boot up enough for a connection to start. I also tried removing my volume key and manually pressing the volume up key with both a toothpick and a screw-driver (just in case contact with metal would change the outcome), but didn't work. Has anyone found a solution?, Is there a way to boot into either recovery- or download-mode without the need to have the phone turned on first or using the volume up key?

[Q] Lost recovery

I was trying to partition my external SD card through Rom Manager and it said I needed CWM installed, so I did it. The problem is, I had TWRP already installed and now I can't get into recovery. It will just stay at the Asus logo screen. I am having trouble getting into Fastboot as well. It just seems to freeze whenever I press vol up on anything. I am able however to boot normally into android so at least I'm not bricked. What should I do?

when you go into fastboot it doesnt do much. try this hold vol down while powering up. then when you have 4 icons let go and push vol down until the usb symbol is highlighted then push vol up. this is fastboot mode. then do this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34359560&postcount=5497
Yeah I saw that earlier. But my project for today was to get HB going with data2sd. Can I flash that one you posted fix it, then flash the regular TWRP to be able to do data2sd?
Edit: Nevermind, got it!

[Q] How to get Onda v973 to boot into recovery via power/home buttons

Title pretty much says it all, trying to figure out how to get a Onda v973, I think version 2 to boot into recovery via the power/home buttons. Which are the only buttons on the device. I was able to get it to boot into recovery via adb reboot recovery. Seems there was a way with v971 and v972 if you hold the home button + power till the logo comes up. But when I press the home and power, the device never turns on. It will only turn on if just the power button is pressed. Though I do hear it making some sound at one point when I have both depressed.
I have CWM and Cyanogenmod 10.1 installed on my v973. I did not turn off signature verification, the compatibility package failed, and I did not catch that till after I rebooted. Now I have both on there, but no touch screen drivers. With USB debugging not enabled, when the device boots it shows in adb devices, but is unauthorized. I am just trying to reboot into recovery/CWM so I can turn off signature verification, install the compatibility package, and have a working tablet again.
Even with stock firmware I could not get it to enter recovery. I started by using the upgrade tool to install TWRP. Then had to use adb reboot recovery to get into TWRP. Which did not have working touchscreen drivers. I could not get the device to stop booting in recovery mode/TWRP. I then used adb to push CWM to the device and cat it to overwrite TWRP. From there used CWM to install Cynogenmod and stop booting into recovery. I did backup the factory rom, but never got a chance to download it from the internal storage.
I will try using the PhoenixSuit to restore a stock firmware and start over again. But do not run Windows, attempting to use it via Windows running in VirtualBox on Linux. Either way, still would like to know how to get this device to boot into recovery using power/home buttons. I have asked Onda the same question. Does seem like its changed since previous models and/or versions. Hopefully there is a way as if not will be the first android device I have come across with no physical means to enter recovery mode.

CWM Recovery hanged while erasing... bootloop problem.

Hello, today I wanted to restore my previous CWM backup. So i started with cleaning partitions before restoring. I've begun with system and my phone hang. I waited about 30 minutes, then pulled out battery with hope I'll try again via CWM. The thing is - I can't boot it into recovery: Volume Up/Volume Down+Power leads to normal start up (LG screen and nothing further). So i connected it to PC and wanted to make it right via ADB. Unfortunely it seems I had USB Debugging turned off, and ADB isn't recognizing my phone now... What should I do now?
I have rooted D620r with unlocked bootloader.

You must never delete partitions before restoring a backup especially system!!
CWM will do that for you...
Boot your device in factory reset mode (which simply boots CWM) by doing the following key combination: (while your device is off - pull and plug the battery to be sure) press and hold Vol - and power, when you see the LG logo, release the power button and press it again. Hold them until you see the facory reset mode, then simply enter YES. It will reboot to CWM.

Weird, I was always doing this when I had HTC Desire S
Used this countless times and always worked!
Ok, i've done as You said, something like CWM loading screen appeared, and then went back to LG Screen. LG Screen standing still and nothing happens
The only good thing is that I can access ADB for 20 seconds when CWM is "loading", but no action can be executed - every command ends up with "waiting for device".
Thanks for Your reply, though! :highfive:
EDIT:
I solved my problem by using "Emergency software restore" mode featured in "LG User Support Tool". I got clean, unrooted system now and I need to modify it again but...

Lock bootloader
Hello everyone.
I was just going to try out CM11, but got one question. Is it possible to lock the bootloader and revert everything to stock? There were some talks about new stock ROMs coming out and they might not work after a custom ROM.

[Q] UMI X3 boot loop...

Hello! I don't know where i should post this since the UMI X3 device isn't on this site, so i just post it here...
I installed a custom rom, now it's bootlooping.
If i turn it on it will show the little boot splash screen, then the screen will go black and usually it would show the boot loading screen but it doesn't, it reboots again to the boot splash screen.
I tried searching on google, but none of the forum posts actually helped me.
I try to holds down the power button and the volume up button at the same time, but it will just do the same bootloop thing.
The home button is a touch button, and i actually already tried holding down on that but it didn't work.
I also tried holding power button and volume down, and i tried holding all the buttons down at once (power + volume up and down)... also no succes.
Now it used to work, i got into some chinese bootloader before i installed this rom.
So, basicly it won't get into any recovery. I did install clockworkmod recovery actually and it did work, yet i needed to launch it via mobile uncle tools to get into it. I think im totally ****ed now...
Pleace, is there ANY way to solve this problem?
Problem in a nutshell:
Boot looping splash screen, can't get into recovery mode. (PS: i also tried to connect it via USB but it won't find my phone...)

UPDATE:
I'm now able to get into recovery mode!
However i can't mount usb.

Hi Kyriano,
I have the same problem after installing the cynogenmod, does your phone work now. How did you get in the recovery mode??
posible solution
Hi,
After struggling with this issue all day i found a quite simple solution.
The cause of the bootloop in my case was the simcard. So this is what i did:
1. remove simcard tray
2. Turn the phone off and on
3. If everything is ok the bootloop stopped, if not try to reboot again
4. Download mobileuncle in the playstore
5. Open the app click on; into recovery mode
6. Recovery will open and then hopefully you made a backup.Restore it and voila!
If you did not make a back try to flash the official umi ROM.
I hope this solved your problem to.

[Q] PleASE HELP. How to enter twrp from computer

i soft bricked my phone when installing the cyanangen 12 rom, it quit during the setup wizzard. The button combination of down and power release when seeing lg and repressing is not working. PleASE TELL ME i can enter twrp without having to restore my phone to stock. The phone will receive phone calls but that is all it does. otherwise it says setup wizzard quit and endlessly says this when you press ok. please help, despite being in los angeles, i have not found anybody capable of helping me.
Patrick--in so much need...
What is the repressing step? I've never heard of that. Isn't it just vol down and power, then release power while still holding vol down until recovery boots?
Also, do you have adb or fastboot installed on a pc? If so, adb reboot recovery from CMD if in android, or fastboot reboot recovery if in bootloader. Have you tried those?

You don't have to release the buttons, idk why so many people keep saying this. Should be the same as mine.. With the phone off just hold both power and volume down until you see it say Recovery Mode loading, then release. If that doesn't work then try the adb command while plugged in to your computer.
