Hello guys.
I have a really annoying problem with my phone.
With any "non-sony" ROM installed, i get an awful noise with the Selfie cam when it gets darker (as you can see in the Picture)
First it looks okay, but once the photo is made, it gets worse..
I have CM12.1 installed.
Is there any workaround for this problem?

when u unlock bootloader u loose DRM keys. that effects cam. below threads may help u or may not cos u already unlocked BL

While losing the DRM keys does make the quality worse, it's on a whole new level on custom ROMs that aren't based on stock.

This is the reason why I am staying with stock based ROMs. Nothing can be done about front cam on CM.

The only reason I'm moving away from Sony.. Camera quality is pathetic on custom roms.. Spoils the fun totally..

Okay thanks for all the answers... But why's there a so big difference between stock and CM?
I mean the DRM Keys are lost anyway, even while using stock based roms, but the image quality is a LOT better with front cam, when using stock, even with lost DRM keys... isnt there a possibility to port this to CM based ROMs?

Check the forums.. There's a z4 framework port for cm.. Try and see if that works

installed Google Style Rom now, Based on Stock.
Next Phone wont be from Sony...

Haha i think Sony makes beautiful and good devices, but this really disappoints me... Im a Custom Rom lover.

I switched to Sony because of their awesome design... But Samsung is back to the game.. Premium finish,waterproof, sd slot.. Nailed it

dammit.. Z2 was my 2nd sony device I loved it but.. When I unlocked bootloader and flashed CyanogenMod I hated this phone.
This is not fair play from sony to us to loose nice functionalities due unlocking bootloader...
Hope I will get HTC again after my M7...
Won't buy Samsung because of Knox (got S5 and tripping knox destroyed GPS) ....

knox destroyed gps? strange never faced issues with knox on my previous samsung phones... btw do u think it would be wise to switch to s5 from z2?
Same problem here Z2 Cm12.1 but camera noise isn't the reason that make me lose a lot of fun in
custom roms
It makes me loose fun because I use the camera often.. And yes Samsung is back in the game...maybe my next phone will be Samsung but for now I have good phone.
I also noticed that. Hopefully, I never use both cameras, and this is why I installed CM ^^

yup i think it's the best phone with lowerst price i try and this phone very easy to mod ( unlock bootloader , root ... ) but one thing i don't like that the hard button easy to scratched - make the phone look very old , the back cover the same .

If you want the phone for awesome music quality, blindly go for SE
But, there are not much Custom roms and never will be(acc. To me)
Go for an HTC if you want solid looms, good feel and best cameras
Go for Samsung if you want best out of waste....lol
Never go for LG
So what you have left is HTC OR SE

i recommend HtC, MY nexus one looked sexier than this SE crap, checkout SE Forum and you'll see that from about 1000000 requests for improving the compression in camera, there was no action

HTC HAS ROMS MEANS YOU DON'T NEED TO RELY ON HTC, DEV's DO MOST OF THE WORK

Based on what SE have said thus far re ICS, yes I personally think it's likely, but still far from guaranteed.

I just bought the phone, Wanna tell you, Its a Superup phone, FAST, smooth, Camera is SO good, even in low lights conditions cuz of its exmor-R sensor, Sexy looking..
Im sick of rooting flashing and shet, when i had the HTC Desire, I like being stock now xD..
But the battery is not SO good..Drains faster than the HTC desire when u use it..
But I DO recommend this phone.

Agree...BUT battery is way better than was desire battery.
I had desire and no way 10 hour full usage...with xperia neo 15 hour music, internet, video no problem

Just wait. You'll see after 3-4 days - battery is not too bad.
usually Neo lives about two days with battery from 100% to 0%
and it is not bad result over against other devices

I have neo kernel v9 with SE tweaked v 0.5 i love it a lot.... i use 13hrs continues open wifi and music.... before it reach 5% battery consumption....
I've been hearing a lot about my aging YP-G70 and its ICS camera fix. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to be able to play Ingress (JUST GOT MY ACCESS CODE!) but I don't want to revert to Gingerbread again. I'm still confused about the progress being made here though. JackPot apparently fixed front cam, but was this released? Also, is the choppy back cam fix released too? I just can't keep up with this anymore... THX in advance!

Never knew about the front camera fix. Its probably only on his own ROM as he has also got HW working on his ROM but not released it. Don't think there's a fix for the choppy back camera thing. The devs may have been secretly chatting via PM to make the back work for ICS but who knows? I've also wanted Ingress, looks great.
IDK but I saw a legit looking video with an ICS GP 5.0 INTL with a working front cam. It also had a back cm fix, but it was super choppy and didn't really work. I'll see if I can get u a Link

JackP sad that he fixed front camera 100% some 20 days ago but he never posted that kernel and he dont show again on forum..i saw that he is making now kernel for nexus but dont know why he did not post that kernel..i send him pm..maybe other could send him pm

I'm not sure about ICS, but the CM10 nightly has the partially-working camera released.

I would assume so.
Bought this tablet to build a bridge to the new Nexus 10.
I have had the new Asus Transformer tf701 but it's terrible bad. The tf700 was way better build.
But anyway... Why is the XDA community so small here?
I don't see custom Roms based on stock. Why is that? I don't like CM and don'twa nt to lose feature as remote control.
Are the stock roms that good they don't need development?
And the funny thing is that Sony encourage Rom development.

tell me what somebody could modify on a stock rom of this baby...It's perfect(i use cm because i like the latest and greatest but stock roms are perfect)
There is already a stock based ROM to be created, but it is being delayed. I'm the official tester (though not the one making it), and I'm waiting for it new stuff to test for weeks... Om going to contact the dev in the weekend to see the progress...

in relation to previous comments, i agree that stock 4.3 rom is good. it has a few bugs but i can live with it..
it's smooth and no lags.. games are excellent.. plus xposed framework for xperia is filling up some extra features..
themes are good.. that's my personal opinion,,,

I must agree in everything you all say. I underestimated the tablet Z. It's better than the tf700. And the looks and feel are very convenient.
Sony did a great job on this.
I am a bit of a flashoholic that's why I have asked.... But why change something when it's already good. And with xposed there is a lot of personal tweaks possible.
Never the less, would be great to try some custom stock Roms.
BTW is there a xposed mod to set the navigation bar to the left again? Still don't understand why they did that on a 10 inch tablet

If you're looking for AOSP , then you bought the wrong phone . Exynos based phones is bad & buggy in terms of Stock Android or AOSP based roms .
You would be just crippling the hardware and reducing software features by using AOSP instead of touchwiz and Mind you ,this is coming from a person who hates touch wiz

Not worth having CM rom
I had CM for Note 1, twice everyday i had to remove the battery to start the hung phone. Its very buggy and you will loose many good stock features . I was using it from last 6 months. the only reason to have such a long time is Android 4.4. other than that Cyanogenmod is total crap.

I think activity in this forum will increase cos now the phone really makes sense.. if u see samsung had launched the phone at a very obnoxious price, but right now the deal seems very fair and many people will be inclined to buy this phone!
We have to also keep in mind the fact that the many users who are avoiding rooting due to the knox crap (me included).. otherwise there would have been much more buzz surrounding this forum!

This has not happened to me..
But u should try cleaning the phone cache (download Clean Master from Play store and clean junk files).. also uninstall apps u don't use & disable unnecessary samsung bloat if u haven't.. that's all ive done with my phone, so may help!

Maybe it's a Firmware issue.. what's ur build number?
ive been looking around for the stock S5 (or S6 or S7) touchwiz camera apps for use in an AOSP 6.0.1 rom, but havent found anything so far. I could be blind, but any existing threads or links to the apks or how-tos would be very appreciated!!
i guess i should also say that ive tried open cam (no panorama in it) and a few other camera apps, even some paid ones, and i just rather like the the TW camera app. Of course, im rooted, have twrp 3.0.2-1 installed. The ROM im running is a build directly from the source code a friend of mine developed called Cyanide, but its an iteration of 6.0.1 (if any of that helps )

no but i did finally get my AOSP cam to stop infinitely focusing on the panoramas. The aosp cam still pales in comparison to the TW one IMO. Probably a little late in the g900p's lifespan for this. Most folks who are smart enough to do so have moved on to new phones

its for technical reasons, that samsung camera never has been ported to AOSP Roms. to get the samsung camera working the Samsung Framework is needed. But you choose AOSP to get rid off Sammy FW. so no chance to port this cam to aosp.

drat. well, thanks for the answer! it resolves the quandry and now i dont have to wait for something that will never happen. I just wish there was a TW ROM that is newer than MOAR. I LOVED MOAR, but its a bit aged now
Try snap cam hdr...
I've tried so many camera apps to find a proper alternative for the stock camera.
Snap Camera is the best i've found but it's freaking me out, that no App can film in slowmotion like the stock cam.
