Notifications Garmin Vivosmart - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
I have an issue with my Vivosmart on 6.0.1. It only shows incoming call number, not name. Only on incoming sms it shows name. On 5.1.1 it worked on both calls and sms. What am I missing? Or is it a bug...? Hope not.
Best regards
Edit: I found the soultion myself. In app manager, the Garmin Connect app didn't have permission to read contact information. So the new permissions in android 6 is worth looking up if some accessories stops behave properly.

[MOD][Xposed][4.0.3+] Diverted call detector

I've developed an Xposed module to detect when diverted (forwarded) calls are incoming. This is the support thread for this module.
The module is available here: http://repo.xposed.info/module/ch.masshardt.divertedcall
Please report any problems in this thread.
Thanks for using your time to developed this.bi am so sorry but I have no idea what this mod does. Can you please explain a little better as I don't know what diverted means.
Thanks!
A diverted call is an incoming call that was forwarded from another phone. The problem is that the number that is displayed on the phone is the calling number and not the number of the phone the call was forwarded from. So the number could be from the local country but was forwarded from a phone in a different country and there is no way to see that. With this mod it is at least possible to display a message with Tasker when such a call is incoming.
There are also other threads about this problem:

Any chance you could give some further detail on how to set up within Tasker?
I've uploaded an example Tasker profile on pastebin: http://pastebin.com/G4FDZe4M
Just download the example and save it as an xml file on your phone. In Tasker the profile xml can be imported by short pressing the "PROFILE" tab in Tasker and selecting "Import".
Interesting module, but I'm not really sure what problem this app is trying to solve...
When I receive a call that was diverted I'm being shown the original callers number with a text "forwarded call" below it - but that may be due to my use of CM?
However the 2 problems I do have with diverted calls can't be addressed with this mod afaict:
- In call log there's no indication whether a call was forwarded
- Different ringtone can't be set as the standard ringtone is played by Phone app and I could use tasker only to play an additional one but not replace it.
It's actually really cool if it works as I think it does. I've been getting a lot of random calls recently, all telemarketer. (Yay me)
Over half of them have my hometown's area code, but I know they are not actually that number from research. My phone at least does not say anything about it being a forwarded call. It would be nice to have an idea if they are actually a telemarketer calling or a friend that I had lost his number.
It depends on the rom that is running on the device. Google did not implement this notification in their source code, but some roms added this feature. E.g. on my Sony device I only receive a toast message for about 2 seconds that the call was diverted. Most of the time it takes more than two seconds until I notice that the phone is running so this notification doesn't help much. Also with the intent it is possible to do other things. For instance the phone could be muted or unmuted when such a call is incoming. I for an example use the plugin to unmute the phone when a diverted call is incoming if I am in charge of my office's 24/7 hotline. For this it would be really cool if also the redirecting number could be reported, but I don't think that this information is available in the 3g protocol.

As the person who created that issue in 2009, thanks for this module
Haven't quite got it to work yet in tasker yet though!
great idea .... thanks for update ....
Any updates on this whether it works before i purchase Tasker from Google Play
Thanks.
You can also use this with other apps than Tasker. Everything that supports Android Intent's should work.
@Thenetstriker
Hi, I'm trying to use this module.
I tried with tasker and e-robot but is working only one time (only for the first event).
If i reboot the phone is working again for the firs event but not the others following.
Any idea?
Tks.
problem
Thanks for your effort!
I meet the same problem with @mbgheban, "It is working the first time. If i reboot the phone, it work again for the first event but not the others following. Tasker cannot receive any more intent".
I am using android 6.0.
---------- Post added at 02:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:47 PM ----------
Moreover, only ver1.1 can work at the first event. Version 1.0 didn't work even the first time.
What's the difference between these versions?
unrooted?
did anyone find a way to get a notification without rooting the phone?
I am using a S8 which is showing a forwarded call notification but of cause too short...

use g pad as a phone?

Is it possible to make and receive calls ?i tried installing google dialer but it does not work?
Maybe with root we can? I dunno if the hardware will allow it.
GSM Voice and Data capabilities are disabled in the radio firmware. Teh device may not even have an amplifier for GSM. Even with root we wont be able to change that unless someone knows a lot about Qualcomm radio stuff and can add/modify the proper settings in QXDM/QPST . This is VERY unlikely.
Fongo works, so does csipsimple with a sip voip account.
I expect Google Hangouts will be fine too.
Same **** as the Nexus 7. What a scummy move.
Surely works but only on wifi (won't work on 4G LTE). Tried using it with my Ooma mobile app to place & receive calls without any technical issues.
I know it's not the answer to the question but, Hangouts works fine on LTE.
What about SMS?
I tried using Pad X to receive SMSs from my bank. I inserted a SIM card into it, installed Google Messenger SMS app and tried to get any SMS. I didn't see any notifications, but when I opened the Google Messenger once, I briefly saw the SMS appear in the program, but it disappeared quickly and again I saw an empty list of messages. Do you know if there is some service in this firmware that deletes any incoming SMS?
SMS works

After updating hidden numbers are blocked - won't let me answer them

Hi,
I was waiting for a call today and every time they tried calling me my Swift 2 Plus rejected the call within a ring before I could pick up. In my missed calls it says they have a hidden number. This never happened until today and it was only the other day when I OTA updated from Cyanogenmod to the latest phone updates (I had been putting it off). This timing could be a coincidence and due to an app update I suppose? The phone app I was using before is True Phone Dialer & Contacts and now I have that stil and also obviously have Truecaller as well. I'm not sure which is causing the issue although in the call list, True Phone Dialer is listing the calls as 'blocked' rather than 'hidden'. But I had been using that app fine until now.
Anyone have any idea? I'm not sure how I can even test this unless I get someone with a hidden number (easy to do?) to call me with True Phone & Contacts uninstalled. Truecaller doesn't seem to let me uninstall it.
Many thanks
EDIT: Sorry I thought I was in a different section of the forum. If this is not the correct section then can a mod move this to the correct place, thanks.
It's very likely related. TrueCaller seems to block calls from blocked/unknown numbers by default. I suspect that if you open a TrueCaller account and login to the software the option will be there to choose whether to block... I could see the option - but it was greyed out.
I was aware of this issue after getting my Swift 2X which already had the update installed. I installed the Google default dialer/phone app and systematically disabled TrueCaller and made the Google Phone app default. When my wife calls me from work it is an Unknown number so it was important for me to me able to receive calls from unknown numbers. Plus the Google dialer just works better.
To test whether calls will be blocked:- if you are in the UK dial your mobile phone from a BT landline with the prefix 141. So if your number is 07123 456 789 you need to dial 141 07123 456 789.

Sorry I didn't notice you'd replied, thanks for your advice. I'd already tried the 141 prefix but it couldn't replicate so possibly it was something weird with that particular witheld number. I haven't rooted but I think I've successfully disabled Truecaller. Not sure which is the best phone app to replace it with. The google dialer app says it's incompatible with all of my devices.
For now I'm going to try using Simpler Dialer.

Samsung Contacts app (incl. Dialer) on Mate 20 pro?

Hello. I was a 10+ years Samsung user and now I switched to Mate 20 pro. I use my phone for work, daily I talk at least 4 hours on my phone, constantly making and receiving calls from numbers not saved in my contacts.
Samsung had great features in its Dialer app (which is part of the Contacts app) - when I got a call, in the incoming call screen when the phone rang it showed "caller information" as Samsung calls it. Basically it is communication history preview, e.g. someone calls me to whom I wrote an SMS 30 days ago. On the incoming call screen when that person calls, last communication will be also previewed, in this case an SMS. If the last communication was a phonecall, it will show date and time of that last call. And for my work that was extremely helpful.
Other thing was incoming caller location - say some client from Frankfurt in Germany calls, from a number that is not saved in my contacts, Samsung would say "Frankfurt, Germany". With that information I could at least assume which client called me, based on the city from which the call came.
Now I tried google phone, it shows the city name and that is good, but there is no option for last communication history when I receive a phone call.
Can someone help me how to port the Samsung Contact app to my Mate 20 pro (which is not rooted)? I got the samsung contacts apk file from sammobile.com, but the phone just says "not installed". Please help.
You can't as it heavily relies on their (Samsung) framework.

Are there any alternatives that can provide such features?
I imagine its tied to One UI

Not receiving SMS notifications (Intermittently)

Hi All,
I hope this hasn't been answered in another thread, if it has, I do sincerely apologize. I tried to search using search criteria, but am unable to find an answer.
It seems that sometimes, when connected to my home WiFi with my Mi 10, that I do not get SMS alert notifications. I will get the message, but I have to open the actual SMS app (stock) to see the message. It will not alert me. It is intermittent though, so I am not sure what the problem is. Once I leave my home WiFi (or other WiFi networks) it will alert me just fine. I am confused about this.
Mi people cannot help me out -- They do not know what the problem is.
I am on AT&T in the USA.
If anyone has any suggestions for this, that would be great!
Thank you so much!
Best,
gSteelx
I should mention that this also was happening on my Redmi note 8 pro as well
