All,
Just bought a adapter cable (Micro-USB to HDMI/MHL adapter) from Ebay that is compatible with the Samsung galaxy S3. It states you can watch pictures or video from the phone to your TV in HD.
However, it simply doesn't work, is there something I need to setup on my phone (like the old TV Out) ???
Thanks for any advice received.

You probably got yourself one of the many fakes that claim to be S3 compatible but really just the old type MHL cable.
No you shouldn't have to do anything. Seems to be a bit of confusion among retailers though as to which cable is for s3. Is it generic? Do you have a product no.?
Here is the link

Here is the information
Cable from micro-USB-connector to HDMI
enables the connection from HD-capable smartphones on the HDMI port of a HD-TV
compatible HD 1080p
view pictures or videos from your mobile phone on the TV in Full-HD
No power supply necessary, the phone can be charged at the same time through the Micro-USB jack on the adapter
Compatible with:
Samsung Galaxy SII S2 i9100 / Samsung Galaxy Note N7000

HTC Flyer
HTC Evo 3D
Samsung EIA2UHUN
HTC AC M490

If it's compatible with s2 it's not compatible with s3. Seller has either advertised incorrectly on purpose or by mistake. Best contact them to seek a refund then you will see which it is.

Thanks mate, I was thinking the same thing but great to get feedback, guess I need to return it.

Yup, I can also confirm. There was an article on Engadget about Samsung rearranging the pin arrangement of the port.

Wow, that's not fair. It is Samsung that is selling fake MHL accessories.
That vendor was selling a real MHL accessory, compatible with the > 100 real MHL devices already in market. Sammie gave no warning or explanation, and advertised that the SGS3 supported MHL, so many vendors had no way to know that their MHL cables wouldn't work with the SGS3.
Now those vendors have to give people money back and take a loss, when all they were doing is selling authentic MHL stuff.

Sorry but I am being fair because I've seen dozens of cables claiming to be S3 compatible and some that say they made specifically for the S3 alone, I mean I just got caught out by one because 11 days after getting dispatch confirmation I emailed the seller and they said they just found out it isn't compatible and offered a refund, so it looks like they knew it was fake from the beginning and didn't send it but still charged me and confirmed it was sent, and I think everyone can agree this item is definitely trying to claim to work on S3 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Adapter-GT-...7TNA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1341253133&sr=8-2

MHL is a closed-documentation commercial proposed specification.
With drafts, changes are rather the norm than the exception. There were reports of the old pin-layout causing issues being the reason for the switching of pins.
But anyway, Samsung is one of the main developer in the consortium so they can change specifications.
Noone said MHL had to be backwards-compatible between revisions.
It's the seller's fault for ASSUMING that there would be no changes and marking the cable as compatible without even attempting to try.
Additionally they could've been notified of this change several months prior release of the S3 if they had bought access to the MHL specification which is restricted but still available and most surely includes iformations about the reason and details of the included changes.
Hello, do we know if there will be a Quick Charger 3.0 in the boxing ? because the phone is compatible with Quick Charge 3.0 technology... And the G4 didn't have a Quick Charger after unboxing.
The LG G5, on the other hand, is QuickCharge 3.0-capable. 3.0

LG has also confirmed that for a limited period of time, customers would be getting a free extra battery and a charging cradle along with the contents of the original purchase. Additionally, it has also confirmed that the handset will be made available for purchase via Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, U.S. Cellular, Best Buy and B&H. Lg G5 is one the most of awaiting Upcoming Android Smartphones in India
Since it's USB Type C connection and you will get a charging cable, does USB Type C have QC and Non-QC cables?
As for what's in the packaging that will be region dependant so hard to answer.
At the moment I have Pixel and some HTC earbuds that I use to listen to music. It might be the first LG devise I am going to get and one of the reasons is audio. So basically I want to ask you guys who appreciates better audio on they devices , if there is anything decent I could get between £50-£100 so I can gain benefits of LG V30 Dac? Thanks

With the V30, LG continues its close partnership with B&O PLAY. B&O PLAY refined the audio capabilities in the V30 by fine-tuning the overall sound experience and adding its own exclusive touch. A set of high quality B&O PLAY earphones comes bundled with the V30 for hours of listening pleasure with style.
“For most people, listening to the music they love is a fundamental part of their lives and they expect the same uncompromised experience and quality from their headphones as they do from the mobile device they source music from,” said John Mollanger, CEO of B&O PLAY. “That’s why B&O PLAY is very excited for our long-term partnership with LG and satisfying global music lovers world over.”

Finally, LG says that it’s continuing its partnership with B&O PLAY on the V30. This means that B&O PLAY has helped to tune the LG V30’s sound experience and that a set of “high-quality B&O PLAY earphones” will come bundled with the V30.

This kind of functionality at the hardware level is typically reserved for high-end audio players and best appreciated when using high quality headphones, which LG will provide in the box thanks to a partnership with B&O Play.

Yes, will be included worldwide.
No, I don't know the release date. All I can do is extrapolate the LG G6 timeline for U.S. And even that might not be the same for the LG V30...
40 days after the initial press conference, the LG G6 went on sale in the U.S. in carrier stores. For the LG V30 that would be October 10.
35 days after that (5 weeks), then the carrier unlocked versions were released in Europe and U.S. For the LG V30 that would be November 14.
Europe will be in there somewhere!
Even if the earbuds are included with the phone in all markets (something I won't believe until I actually see it happen), they won't make full use of the complete potential of the sound system built into the phone. I ended up picking up a pair of Sennheiser HD558's for less than $100. They trip the high impedance mode and sound great. I have the B&O headphones given out with the V20 last year and they're ok but not on the same level as the bigger cans. The plug for the B&O's was coated with something that allowed them to trigger the high impedance mode the first few times but that wore off and soon you were just left with regular mode. I'd assume as much for these being shown packaged with the V30.

It will be worldwide. The first link in my post above is to LG's press release on their website. Besides being on the general .com suffix and not some specific country variant for South Korea or whatever, the company official said "GLOBAL" when talking about the B&O earphones:

I have checked dates on G6 and it was around 2 months until phone was selling. If I am correct 26th of Feb announcement and end of April phone was sold by shops here in UK. Still i spent only 15 min. on research I might be wrong with dates.

Never mind, found it. Very strange.
Well, the same problem happened with Xperia's a couple years back in Turkey. They were supposed to be bundled with a great pair of noise cancelling earphones. Those "global" earphones were then removed most of the boxes sold here in Turkey to bring down the absurd price due to sh*tty currency ratios. "Original" phones started being sold about a month or two later, with double the earphones retail value added on top of the phone. So there is a big chance some regions won't get those earphones even though LG said global.
And with all respect, why turn this into a "whats in the box" topic? (I'm sure it wasn't intentional) I'm sure the earphones that are supposed to come out of the box are great, and they're tuned for this phone specifically but I'd love to hear some alternatives. I've loved audio through all my teen years, and most of my 20's, but I just can't keep up with all the new models anymore. Not enough time with all the responsibilities.
So I'd love to hear about some alternative earbuds if anyone has some. Maybe some cans for a comfy long distance journey where size doesn't matter (see what I did there?)
I vote beyerdynamic dt 770 for closeback

No, he doesn't say that. You are mis-reading what he is saying.
He clearly says what's included in the deal:
LG V30+ with 128GB internal storage (compared to only 64GB on AT&T, Verizon, T-mobile)
2-for-1 offer (BOGO)
Google VR goggles
Bang & Olufsen earbuds (EDIT: I was wrong about this. He says "LG quad play" earbuds, not B&O-branded earbuds. BUT, he DOES say earbuds are in the box! And Sprint agrees, see press release link below.)
He says these earbuds are allegedly specifically tuned/optimized for the LG V30, but as he hasn't received a final unit yet, he's unsure how good they will be or the VALUE. The whole point of the article is the VALUE of what people are getting for their money -- how Sprint is DESPERATE to attract customers. He's not debating whether there will be earbuds or not.
His comment about the "standard" V30 box vs. the V30+ means the B&O earbuds might only be part of the PLUS of the V30+ package. Maybe only earbuds come with V30+? That's really his question. He's NOT questioning whether earbuds will or will not come with Sprint's V30+.
Note how he uses the word "standard" earlier in the article to mean the base LG V30 (64GB):
Digging into what makes the V30 Plus unique, it isn’t a “plus” in the same sense as, say, the iPhone 8 Plus. It’s actually no bigger than the standard LG V30, which also features a six-inch AMOLED display.
What is different is the internal storage, which is doubled to 128GB, as well as the fact that LG is tossing in a set of its LG Quad Play wired headphones that are supposedly suited to take advantage of the Quad DAC built into the phone.
Click to collapse
So in his conclusion, here are his questions:
Are the earbuds really any good, have they been optimized for the phone as promised?
Will they also come with the "standard" LG V30 or only with the LG V30+? Because LG seemed to promise all LG v30 would get these earbuds.
That's what he's saying. Yeah, he could have written it more clearly but these writers write, post and move on.
He wouldn't clearly say what WILL be included with the Sprint LG v30+, then turn around and say he does NOT KNOW what will be included. Go read it again.
What I also find interesting is he almost plainly states Sprint will NOT be the exclusive provider of the LG V30+. Only exclusive "at launch". I really hope the US998 (to be released sometime in November) comes in LG V30+ (128GB) configuration. Or will be available to buy at that configuration.

We know they will be included with Sprint LG V30+ because he clearly wrote they would be.
But also, GO READ SPRINT'S PRESS RELEASE:

So, that's disappointing in that LG seemed to promise all LG V30 would have it, but they did the same thing with Qi wireless charging, quad DAC and 64GB storage for the LG G6. They need to stop that nonsense. Even though they said the LG G6 had all those features, you could not buy an LG G6 that had ALL those features. They regionalized the specs.
Seems in the U.S. only the LG V30+ will have the earbuds? Or possibly even only Sprint's LG V30+?

I wasn't clear in my last post that has caused some confusion. And please do me a favour stop writing words in bold, colouring them in red and exaggerating to capital letters. I have fairly fluent understanding of English and able at ease to comprehend things. We are just having normal discussion here.

Which if you read the article there was no question earbuds would be included in the Sprint LG V30+. When he said not everything was know about the "final unit" you took that out of context. He was referring to the "standard" LG V30 (64GB) the other carriers are selling, not Sprint's LG V30+ (128GB).
Digging into what makes the V30 Plus unique, it isn’t a “plus” in the same sense as, say, the iPhone 8 Plus. It’s actually no bigger than the standard LG V30, which also features a six-inch AMOLED display.

He used that word "standard" model in the article previously to differentiate between the 64GB LG V30 and the LG V30+. We would normally say "base" model here in the U.S. But I understood what he meant. He used the word at least twice in the article.
I am not commenting in any way on your understanding of English, so please don't say I am. I said you mis-read the article because really there was no confusion. He clearly said there would be earbuds with Sprint's LG V30+. You apparently mis-read the article and tried to say he didn't say that or left some doubt.
Sprint's press release, which I found after I initially posted, confirmed everything I said.
You are now trying to make it seem you were questioning B&O earbuds vs "quad play" earbuds, but you didn't specify that you just said "earbuds".
I admitted to another poster LG apparently is misleading people by making them think ALL LG V30 (not just the LG V30+) will have earbuds, and now we know that to not be true. I believed LG's press release, but I have no reason not to believe Sprint's press release about earbuds.
@ChazzMatt Its over , forget my post that triggered you in the first place I told you I got it all right. Do you really understand what is it all about?
