MarshMallow, Icon Pack and Doze - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, i've installed MM 6.0.1 On my G925F.. My questions are:
Where or how can i access to doze?
Is possible to change icon pack, or personalize UI and Drawer on TouchWiz stock?
Thanks 4 help

Hi there,
Welcome to XDA! Quick answers to your question:
1) Doze is an android 6.0 feature that does not require user interaction. There is no way to access doze, as it works without user interaction.
2) TouchWiz does not support customizations, and the best way to do that would be to install a custom launcher. A popular choice is Nova Launcher on the Play Store. Check out their google+ for inspiration to get started.
Lastly, do use the search function for more detailed responses

Hi, thx for answers. I know this about icon, because I had nova on 5.1.1, but I did hope that with mm there are more personalization option, but as I see, isn't possible. The problem is that nova (and other launcher) consume more ram and battery then use only touchwiz. Is possible that i must flash an unofficial rom or do root to personalize a top device as 6edge?

Touchwiz can be modified to some degree but you'd need to flash a custom recovery, root the device then install the Xposed framework.
Or, as you mentioned, flash a custom rom.

I don't think 6.01 has root yet, you'd either need to wait until there is a root solution or flash one of the several pre rooted 6 roms that can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6-edge/development

[Q] Help newbie

Hello there,
I recently changed from symbian to android.....Can some help me on how to apply themes in wildfire ...especially this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1060333
Theming is very different in Android compared to Symbian. What you see there requires a Custom ROM with a Theme Chooser App inbuilt into it.
So, if you have a Custom ROM (Cyanogenmod 7 or Ginger Yoshi), then just install it, and choose via Theme Chooser.
Obviously, you will need root for it, which will not be possible via software if you are on Android 2.2.1
then if i update to 2.2 can i root?
No. Please read again. If you are 2.2 you can NOT root.
Until down to 2.1, most people stuck wit dis take time to read around, you'll find your
ok mine is 2.1 and am planning root it and use cyanogen mod...after doing this am gonna install the samsung touchwiz by rolle..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=709763
will this provided touchwiz file work with wildfire without the need for rooting...?
if so ill updatet to 2.2 officially and install this launcher..plzz guide me
Its under the Nexus One Forum, so its unlikely it will work. There is some user who has developed TouchWiz for the Wildfire, and you can find it at the Wildfire Android Development Forum (Just use Search).
As for root, I don't know whether it will work without root or not, but, I would personally recommend you to not update to official 2.2.1 because you will lose the ability to root (Even if you do not intend to install Custom ROMs - At this point of time), and you will have to stick with the stock functionality, meaning you will not be able to change your mind later about installing root apps and Custom ROMs like Cyanogenmod.
Of course, if you are 101% convinced you will never require root and Custom ROMs, you are welcome to update to official 2.2.1
thanks alot for the advice ...i decided to root and install CM7 rom....can you provide me the link for the touchwiz file for wildfire...ill search for it too...
Good idea in not going for the official 2.2.1 update. It will atleast keep your options open for alternatives, even if CM7 doesn't suit you.
Anyway, here is Touchwiz for Wildfire.

[Q] i'm despaired

Unhappy [Q] please i despaired
Hi all reading this post
I have an acer liquid s2 with android 4.2.2 stock, rooting this device is very easy but but i've found nothing about a custom rom or aosp rom like Cyanogenmod (my dream).
it's a very good phablet but i don't like the stock rom, i prefer my galaxy s4 mini with cm11.
Is there any way to have an alternate rom ?
Please ohhhh please.
Thanx.
Sorry for my english i 'm french
Doesn't look like there is any development for it at all beyond unlocking the bootloader, root, and CWM recovery. I learned my lesson about buying devices that developers aren't interested in awhile ago... Just one of those things, unfortunately. I suggest using a different launcher and the Xposed Framework for the best way to mod without needing a custom rom.

customize status bar without custom ROM

Hello everyone,
I would like to customize the statusbar, with the default ROM. Is that possible ?!
And also i tried to unlock the bootloader, but i don't really know how to do this. I guess, with the bootloader locked, i can't root the phone.
Which options / software / apps / should i try, for customizing the status bar ? Does the Gravity Box works ?
Any advices are welcome, thank you in advance.
Xposed Framework or modules do not work on a stock ROM. You must be rooted to make changes or customizations since all require writing on the /system partition and that's not possible without root.

I tried to root the phone, with the software called KingoRoot, but i wasn't able to do it
https://www.kingoapp.com/
Do i have to unlock the bootloader, before i root it ? If so, would you please tell me what's the best method / way / for unlocking the bootloader ?
Thank you
I have to apologize... I had all my previous phones rooted and also built ROMs for them... But not on this phone. Nothing has convinced me so far that it worth it. Development on this device is limited to ported ROMs, there is no AOSP ROM and therefore I can survive with the stock and keep my warranty.
So I don't know exactly what is the best method since I used none

I just want to root the phone ( and unlock the bootloader ) but i will keep the default ROM.
How do i check the status for the bootloader ??

Custom ROM without root possible?

Hey,
i always rooted my old phones to get the latest android versions when they were out of support. Now my bank told me i need to use phototan, but i don't want this app on my daily phone. So i thought i can use one of my old once and just install that app. Since there is no need to have internet access to use the app, that'd work. But the problem is, that the app requires Android 5+ and does not accept rooted phones. My old one has 4.2.2 so is it possible to get a custom rom without root? Or do i always need root with custom roms?
And if it is possible, all (or at least the most) custom roms come automatically with root, how can i remove it?

Hey..
Custom rom requires only custom recovery..
No need of root for that..
Flash magisk and flash magisk uninstaller to remove root from pre-rooted roms..

Newbie question regarding recovery and Magisk

Hey guys,
I mangaged to install a custom ROM on my 9s Note (Curtana). Now I want to install the MIUI stock camera (48mp) module because the one which comes with the rom is quite poor on options. I have many confusions about the next steps and hope to find some help. I posted my questions on the thread of the ROM but unfortunatly did not get any response.
My questions are:
Is it correct that I need now to change the stock recovery to a custom one, for example TWRP in order to install custom addons?
Then I need to install Magisk which is used to install this custom ´addons´?
If this both are installed, will I be a SU automatically?
Will my banking apps still work or stuff like Spotify, WhatsApp? It does now on the custom rom which is amazing.
Is it possible to backup the original recovery partition? Then at any point in the future go back to it?
Can I install the stock MIUI ROM 11 or 12 with a custom recovery?
I would be so thankful if somebody could help me!
Cheers,
Cho
1) if you have installed a custom ROM, chances are you did it with a custom recovery.
2) some addons require root privileges, which can be had with magisk
3)yes, having magisk installed successfully means yiu will have rot privileges
4) banking apps, google own safety net checks and magisk are in a constant race of outpacing each other, magisk seems to be loosing now with tighter controls in newer android version. so dont expect your banking apps to work with magisk anymore.
5) it is probable on some devices with mature development not sure with this
6) not in its stock form, usually people build alternate builds of stock ROM that can be flashed with custom recoveries.
