So I used king root to root my Samsung SM-S820L and then ( I'm not really sure what happened) I think I tried to install a custom rom. The rom messed up so now I can't even enter recovery and Kies didn't work either. I'm about to do my last save attemp before I take it to Best Buy but I'm going to use Odin to flash stock android on to the phone then factory reset it. Is this a good idea or should I take it to Best Buy or other tech service now?
Yes..Go to odin and flash ur stock rom.

That's the thing. My model is kinda rare so I couldn't find the exact stock rom. I found one (same phone) very similar. My question is, after I flash the ROM will I be able to set the phone back to the factory original or just back to the ROM?

I recommend to flash a stock/official ROM to your phone.
Then root will be lost.
You can download Official ROMs from SamMobile, but you will need to register before.
Or you can have a look into Intratech's Offical Firmware thread here => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Please read his first post carefully.
Then decide which ROM to flash.
As you want to bring it back to "normal", you should use a ROM from the second post "Official Firmwares".
Just flash the ROM using Odin - like described by Intratech.
Nothing special.
Maybe you want to wipe everything to go back to factory settings.
Then you should do a hard reset after flashing by dialing *2767*3855# into your phone's dial pad.
But you can alternatively do a factory reset in recovery mode - also after flashing the stock ROM.
Good luck !
Hey mate thanks for the reply, i backed up my original rom using rom manager flashed back to it....but i still have root and i want to remove it. Can i just flash the insecure kernel and using super one click do the job???/.....NOTE I HAVE clock work mod recovery flashed already........
So Im probably ging o get flamed for this......but here goes.
I have searched and searched, ive put bits and pieces together, but still missing components,
So for some reason MY phone is not recognized on ANY PC, My phone with charge, but not recognizable. Yes I installed samsung drivers, fooled with phon usb settings, tied rebooting phone, removing battery, flashing other roms, no luck.
Currently Running the most recent version of the following ROM

So to send my phone back to samsung(got them to agree to give me a free Galaxy S3), I need to do a full restore, however, I cannot find a way to flash to stock without Odin.
I have this theory, I want feed back to see if its possible.
1. Flash a stock ICS 4.0.3 ROM Back onto my phone via CWM\TWRP
2. Flash stock kernel
3. Reset flash counter
4. Push stock recovery though Terminal Emulator (heard this was possible but no experience)
5. Of course a full factory wipe\format.
Please if you think this can work and can help in any way please do.

If this is the link you are refering to, then please specifically point out the full sock recovery without using ODIN viaUSB cable.

If you have CWM you can flash a stock gb or ics rom and modem easily enough. That gets you 75% of your goal. I think you can flash 3e recovery too with CWM.
To unroot maybe flash an unrooted rom like the original ULF6 as your first step.
For warranty return several have mentioned they didn't unroot and were able to send in phone and didn't get any charges.
P.S. this topic was covered in a thread about two weeks ago. Perhaps a google search will locate it for you to get all the links and details.
I sent in a rooted note directly to samsung and they didnt charge me for it. All i did was factory data reset and flash the stock rom. Oh yeah and i reset my flash counter
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
The answer is no ...
You cannot fully recover to stock , unless you can find a factory GB or ICS rom, in a flashable form ..
But....for warranty purposes you don't need to ...
Just download a stock rooted rom to the device ...along with the flashable stock recovery and counter reset file.
It isn't perfect ...but close enough.
And try a few different roms ...as they may fix your connection issues.
I'm thinking you have a USB driver issue ....g
I didn't think you could either but take a look here.

They won't care. Its going into the pile to be reflashed, boxed and sold as a refurb. No sweat off their back.

Thanks for the help all, I Think its possible, will post results.
If you flash a stock rom then flash a stock recovery then delete all your apps, the only way they would know is to install a root check app, and I just don't think they would. Also, your rom and root habits didn't break the usb hardware.
Hey guys!
So once again I find my self asking for help.
So my phone decided to forget it's IMEI so I started following THIS guide.
The guide asked me to return to stock to somehow get the IMEI back.... so I followed THIS guide.
The problem is that after I flashed the phone I got stuck in the "Samsung Galaxy SII I9100" screen (where one gets the yellow triangle)
SO I thought to myself , meh it's a boot loop....so I followed some steps that had previously saved me.
But ever since the first flash I've not been able to access ANY sort of recovery, be it CWM or the normal android one.
I have access to download mode but that's it really....
Please help!
If you've got no recovery & the only option you've got is download mode, flash a stock rom. Then do a factory reset if you need to/assuming you get recovery back.
Then you can restore a backup/re-root your phone/flash whatever kernel or rom you want.

Thank you for your quick reply.
Here's the thing. I got the stock rom from here and it's the first thing I flashed as a kernel yet it got stuck in the first screen.
I doubt i made a mistake here (because I checked with my phone´s "about" ) but Maybe I got the wrong version? (would it stop working if so?) .
Get one for your country/carrier from Samfirmware & try that (Be careful if it's 4.0.4 & don't do a wipe until after you've flashed a 'safe' kernel).
Success! I got recovery mode.....
(used Cf Root)
Now how do I go to stock?
If you've got CWM, try flashing whatever kernel you were using before you started having problems (You haven't been using Rom Manager by chance, have you ?). If you still don't have any joy, try flashing whatever rom you were using in CWM.
If we're talking stock recovery but the phone still won't boot normally, still flash a stock rom in Odin.
Nope, no ROM manager.... I had what seemed like a stock ROM , just with a different baseband to work in the UK (it's a mexican phone).
Anyways i'm back to square one..... I tried flashing the stock kernel that I looked for in Samfirmware (the mexican, just in case...) and it's still stuck in boot loop... and again I have no access to recovery...... tried flashing CF to no avail....
argh <.<
You need to try flashing the entire stock rom in that case.

So it will be the same? or is there a different place to get the ENTIRE stock rom?
I got the one you mentioned from sammobile... will this include the phone / csc/ things?
by the way..... will it get out of the boot loop?
thanks for your patience...
Go to Samfirmware & search for an entire stock rom (which will have kernel, modem & CSC) for your country if there's an unbranded one, or get one specific to your carrier if there isn't unbranded.
Will it get you out of bootloop ? You'd think so, but without knowing exactly what caused your phone to throw a wobbly in the first place, it's hard to say definitively. But at the moment, you don't really have any other option given your phone won't boot normally & all you have is DL mode.
Edit - I've checked Samfirmware, there's 3 for Telcel; 2.3.6, 4.0.3 & 4.1.2. You can probably skip the GB one & choose either of the other two
And you're welcome

Ok, finally finished the download.
I'm soon to flash and I have a dumb question....
should I unpackage the file or flash it to the kernel as is? (its a.zip)
if I extract it it contains the .tar.md5 and SS_Dl.dll
Extract the tar.md5, flash it in the PDA section of Odin. Delete the .dll

Just before I break anything.... since this wasn't working just yet (and your explanation explains alot haha)
I got CWM again and I restored my previous mod /build whatever its called......
So I have a working device again. The question then is...... (and completely changing subject) IS there a way to resolve the no IMEI problem from this point?
I dail +#06# and get a blank imei thing.......
Any suggestions?
Forget the code. Check your IMEI in settings/about phone. If it's not 0049-----, then you're fine. If it is & you don't have an EFS backup, there are a bunch of threads on here which claim to be able recover your IMEI; you need to read them (No idea whether these methods work as I've never had to use them & never will because I make EFS backups). Either that or service centre who can fix the IMEI.
Edit -Also, I'm, rather confused. You claim you have nothing but download mode, yet all of a sudden have CWM working ? Sounds like you've left a lot of details/a lot of what you've been doing out. Bit of a waste of my time answering your posts in the end really.

Lol I guess im screwed haha:
IMEI: Unknown
IMEI SV: unknown
Baseband Version Unknown:
--- Atleast I have the build numbers and kernel version info haha
Thank you for your help and patience! I'll see what I find!
Hi,
Just got my phone back from servicing.
And now it has a stock recovery 3e and some Stock JB rom (not sure if its rooted or not).
Thing is, i've read like 7-8 different posts on flashing a new Rom, or Kernal or Recovery, but no complete guide to explaing the proccess, and now i'm scared to flash anything from fear of bricking my phone.
I want to flash an official Samy based JB rom (i found one) , but do i need to flash a custom recovery/kernal first (like PhilZ CWM?) or other way around ?
Any help is highly appreciated
The chances are that Samsung have returned your device to fully unrooted stock.
There are root checker apps on playstore that can confirm this.
If you are un rooted, the easiest way to get root back is to use PhilZ kernel......you simply flash it using the stock recovery. With regards to what you *want* to flash.......
You need to provide more details as to what the rom actually is, where it came from, what file format you downloaded the ROM as......that sort of thing....
Hey tnx for replying
Yes , you were right.
I flashed CWM via Odin (worked, but i got the yellow triangle now) sign.
After that i did this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/orig-development/repartition-memory-s2-t3018749 , worked
And then i installed an Samsung based JB 4.1.2 rom standard via recovery.
all works well now,i think, just booted up 2min ago.
Phone can see all my internal storage space and sd card, think all is well.
Did i do it right ?
It sounds like it, except that you probably didn't need to repartition the device......If you'd been flashing a lollipop rom, then the repartition would have been necessary, but not for JB......
Incidentally, what is the name of the rom you flashed? As Sammy stock roms can normally only be odin flashed.....
I realise that, but the extra space for apps sounded really nice.
I installed this one : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/development-derivatives/rom-custom-stock-rom-5-0-edition-t2076568
I tried to do the Kingo root process. when i turn on the tablet it gets as far as the red screen with the verizon logo. I can get to the factory reset. seems to only clear the data. is there away to re-load the old firmware/OS or a custom ROM. I have another SM-T337 that works perfect can i cloane that one to the other on......what are my options.......thanks
I just leave this here just in case I need to remember this site again .
https://samfrew.com/search?query=SM-T337V
what is this supposed to mean ?
As I said...don't you worry about it.
And while not worrying it, you might as well just flash it with the stock...
(good site, somehow hard to remember for me)
how would i go about re-flashing the tablet?
