Hello,
I have a more obscure Android device, a Nikon Coolpix S800c. It is a mediocre camera, and a terrible Android device. The biggest issue is that the camera cannot be used while charging, which is an issue in a device with about a 90 minute battery. It is also running Android 2.3.
These are my questions: Is it possible to hack the camera so I can use it while charging (it charges with a USB cable)? Also, is there any custom rom with a more recent version of android than Gingerbread that I can use (To be honest, I'd like anything newer...)?
Thank you!

I recently got a G Tablet and I love that thing - I am currently running ASOP Gingerbread on it and love the thing.
I am a photographer and have a Nikon DSLR and was wondering if there was a way I could plug the camera in to the tablet and use it to view the photos that I took.
I tried just plugging the USB cable in between them but I can't seem to browse to the camera in Astro - so I think I might just be missing something

I tried plugging in my camera to view as a usbdisk with the Vegan 5 ROM and it didn't work. But it works perfectly with CyanogenMod 7 between my tablet and my Lumix camera. My co-worker however still can't access his camera with CM7, and I'm not sure what the difference is. He's going to bring his cam in for me to try... it could be a camera issue and the ability of the tablet to recognize particular models.
Hrm - interesting
I just loaded CM7 the other day - but I haven't tried plugging my camera in to it since then - I'll try that when I get home
I have the same problem. My tablet can't see my Canon camera when I connect the camera cable to the full-size USB port on the tablet. But the USB port is working fine when I connect a thumb drive.
hello
I noticed the charging speed of note 2 is very slow when I connect to USB,
so I want to buy the new asus motherboard that has BC 1.1 which apparently makes the mobile devices 3 times faster on charging.
but want to make sure if my note2 is compatible with it.
does anyone know?

It doesn't seem like it does. I have an ASUS P8Z77-M motherboard, running Win8. Even with the full AI Suite installed and AI Charger running (which is supposed to allow it to charge at a higher rate) it doesn't detect my Note2 as something it can fast charge.
Can confirm not working. I have the ASUS P8Z77 V-Deluxe with the full AI Suite installed and ready to go. Better off plugging it into the wall.
Sent from my Xposed Beans Note 2
From what I've gathered from other threads, the kernel limits the charge rate.
(Old thread, ran into it ..)
And from what I gathered out of own experience it seems to darn well work.
A) It charged fast (... )
B) Updated the AI Suite just now and it was not charging as fast as before....I noticed when I unhooked my phone a while later....
So am playing with the settings now (which strike me as a bit vague ).
Oh, this is done with a Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505.
Hi guys,
I have limited space at my place and I really cannot have another monitor hooked to my laptop 24/7. I need a solution that I can hook up when I need to edit on premiere and that I can remove when I´m not editing. I know there is a way to do this wireslessly with android tablets but it´s super slow and useless for editing. I need to know if there is any way to use an android tablet as a second monitor via USB or HDMI.
I know there is an app for Android called DSLR controller (or something like this) that allows you to mirror Canon EOS camera on your tablet or cell phone using a usb host cable (I´ve tested this on my cell phone and it actually works). For sure there must be a way to do something similar and use a tablet as a second monitor using a usb cable. I´m going to post this on android forum and see what comes up.
cheers

I have been looking at the Habey BIS-6332B as a possible low power field computer using Android, and I am trying to find a good solution as to what to use as Monitor's (Has 2 HDMI OUT) that can be recharged easy by Solar and other means in the Boonies.
There is a Chinese outfit called Chinavasion that sells a slew of pretty cheap Android devices, and their Tablets have HDMI ports!
All the Apps I found so far are for Windows and Mac ONLY. None yet for Android-To-Android.
Curious if you found anything?
If not, any idea what area would need to be Hacked? I am not as interested in a wireless connected Monitor as I am just a better low cost TFT Screen; self powered like the Tablets. For a $65-$120 (US) Device, there has got to be a way
In my mind I picture just some Diodes that need to be reversed in the Tablet(s). Air Display in Google Play is the only one so far that looks close Win/Mac only? Any leads are welcome.
Thanks.
I'm actually searching for something like that.
I would love to output my cellphone to an old 10inch tablet.
I've been searching for tablet with video input with no luck.
Hello all,
We are working on a new electronic circuit prototype using custom power supply and chip FTDI 312D (ref.: http://www.ftdichip.com/Support/Documents/DataSheets/ICs/DS_FT312D.pdf)
This chip makes UART communication possible and have the new circuit recognized as an Android Open Accessory.
Everything is working fine except one thing: charging current is limited to 500ma (due to Android Open Accessory status https://source.android.com/devices/accessories/protocol).
This is a huge problem for us as a tablet is continuously plugged into our device and need to charge at maximum rate.
We have looked at different topics without success:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/root-battery-charge-limit-t3557002
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpXfGnqXM7I
https://forums.androidcentral.com/o...ble-usb-fast-charging-now-jawz101-kernel.html
My co-workers can do Android development but we are out of idea on how to increase this charging current.
Does someone knows how to do this?
Is it a Kernel modification?
We use custom Chinese tablets, so we need to ask for Kernel/ROM information to our supplier but communication is not always easy...
Has anybody done this before?
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Francois

Anyone?
Hello!
I am having the same problem. I would like to use this FT312D chip with an Android mobile phone, but the 500mA charging is not enough. Even if I connect a 2A charger, the phone only draws 500 mA. Can you ask the phone from a running Anrdoid application to draw more current? Did you find any solution?
Thank you for your answer!
Hello Bakgab,
Yes we did but not a software one. I think USB is 100% hardware controlled.
If you use a device that is modern enough (BC1.2 compliant devices), you can use this chip TPS2540.
http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tps2540.pdf
For us, with Samsung tablet Tab 10.1 and Tab 10.5, it's working flawlessly.
I'll let you read about this. It's called CDP mode. Hope it helps .
Cheers,
Francois
A few days I am testing my new Asus ZenFone 8 flip and every day I find more and more things that disappoint me.
So today I've found out the phone doesn't support connection with my portable monitor with usb type-c (you know, this new generation of fancy slim monitors).
I plug in the phone expecting screen casting (mirroring) to the monitor but nothing happens.
I looked through Settings, including developer settings and found nothing that can address it.
Am I doing anything wrong?
Or this just proves again my conclusion that Asus did not bother to develop a decent device to the price?
I m the same, it does Not have usb to hdmi feature (The zenfone 7 pro does). It doesn t even have the feature to stream audio on 2 bluetooth devices (only samsung and xiaomi do) despite is bt 5.2. Then it doesn t have optical stabilization (7 pro does) despite it has the best electronical video stabilization I ve ever seen. But only the optical one let s you avoid warped picture during fast movements. This last feature wasn t a surprise but the rest were. Sadly.
Pretty sure the Zenfone7 pro also did not have HDMI over USB as the port is 2.0.
Very disappointing but the list of expensive 2021 phones with USB2.0 is really long...
ps weeks ago my zenfone 8 flip just died. Without ever being dropped or anything. And I didn t do backup of the stuff in the internal memory.
