Mediatek PumpExpress and LED Colors - Sony Xperia C5 Ultra

Hi, I would like to ask if C5 supports Mediateks PumpExpress charging. Also is QuickCharge charger compatible with PumpExpress or I need different one? Another question is does anyone knows what colors is notification LED supporting? I have tried Light Flow and other LED apps but it seems C5 only supports blue/green/red/white and not purple/orange or other colors.

It doesnt support quick charge. only the new helio p10 supports it as far as i know

Since MT6732 supports, I was hoping 6752 will to. Because its basically same cpu with more cores.

Touch Pro 2 External LED Hack?

Can we get something like this to work with our phones? Maybe even mod the camera software to control it?
http://jkontherun.com/2009/08/13/iphone-3gs-led-flash-hack/
He is just getting power from iPhone charging port, it's easy mod.
I think it's easy to make it on HTC too, but not software controlled, just plain light with on/off switch.

can you export power from the usb port or do you have to tap into the battery using 2 tiny wires to an led source. and after the fact, will the battery be strong enough to support the current for the phone and led?

AOA (Android Open Accessory) and fast charging

Hello all,
We are working on a new electronic circuit prototype using custom power supply and chip FTDI 312D (ref.: http://www.ftdichip.com/Support/Documents/DataSheets/ICs/DS_FT312D.pdf)
This chip makes UART communication possible and have the new circuit recognized as an Android Open Accessory.
Everything is working fine except one thing: charging current is limited to 500ma (due to Android Open Accessory status https://source.android.com/devices/accessories/protocol).
This is a huge problem for us as a tablet is continuously plugged into our device and need to charge at maximum rate.
We have looked at different topics without success:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/root-battery-charge-limit-t3557002
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpXfGnqXM7I
https://forums.androidcentral.com/o...ble-usb-fast-charging-now-jawz101-kernel.html
My co-workers can do Android development but we are out of idea on how to increase this charging current.
Does someone knows how to do this?
Is it a Kernel modification?
We use custom Chinese tablets, so we need to ask for Kernel/ROM information to our supplier but communication is not always easy...
Has anybody done this before?
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Francois

Anyone?
Hello!
I am having the same problem. I would like to use this FT312D chip with an Android mobile phone, but the 500mA charging is not enough. Even if I connect a 2A charger, the phone only draws 500 mA. Can you ask the phone from a running Anrdoid application to draw more current? Did you find any solution?
Thank you for your answer!
Hello Bakgab,
Yes we did but not a software one. I think USB is 100% hardware controlled.
If you use a device that is modern enough (BC1.2 compliant devices), you can use this chip TPS2540.
http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tps2540.pdf
For us, with Samsung tablet Tab 10.1 and Tab 10.5, it's working flawlessly.
I'll let you read about this. It's called CDP mode. Hope it helps .
Cheers,
Francois

Mate 20 Pro, PC Mode: resolution and cable?

Hello XDA!
I pre-ordered a Mate 20 Pro. I hope to use it as a desktop PC replacement. Using the PC Mode, or Desktop Mode, or "Easy Projection" as they call it.
I'll use a big UHD TV in place of a monitor. And Bluetooth keyboard & mouse.
And it should even be wireless! (using Wi-Fi, and maybe Miracast if TV supports it, not sure)
But do you know what resolution will it support? Will it output UHD/4K @60fps? Wireless and/or wired?
And what cable should I buy? USB-C 3.1 to HDMI 2.0? Can you recommend one from Amazon?
Thanks!
I am unsure about the new wireless solution I know that it uses Miracast if the TV supports it. Else it uses a Huawei adapter (which I suspect only contains a Miracast adapter for the TV) Miracast supports up to 1080p according to Wikipedia https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miracast
For wired solution you should check the mate 10 forum there are discussions and recommender cables for that. Also it sucks a lot of battery. There are special dongles that allow easy projection and charging at the same time. Many only allow slow charging speed so the phone still drains battery while charging. There are some special dongles that allow fast charging. Look out for these.
Thanks Alfred!
Good point. Maybe a cable that supports charging like ref. B07F9WDS87 on Amazon ?
Also, maybe a wireless quick charger? There have been rumors of Huawei soon offering a 20W.
And regarding the max resolution using cable, you think Mate 10 users will have an answer? Maybe Mate 20 has been upgraded on this part? (max resolution for Easy Projection output)
I'm not 100% sure about "easy projection" but for samsung dex, I've tried a few cheap cables/adapters and didn't work, finally this one worked okay and it's a reasonable price ($20), I'm almost sure it would work with "easy projection"
Could not add the link but this is the title: "USB C to HDMI Cable([email protected]), uni USB Type-C to HDMI Cable [Thunderbolt 3 Compatible] MacBook Pro 2018/2017/2016, Surface Book 2, Samsung S9/S8, Dell XPS 13/15, Pixelbook More - Gray -6FT/1.8m"
Also bought a Logitech K380 BT keayboard on eBay for around $12
Hi all,
I can confirm Wireless Projection works absolutely fine, but I haven't checked the resolution as yet.
One strange thing however is that I have yet to find a way to use desktop projection via USB cable - perhaps in an OTA

But let me guess.. ur device Ur using either telly or monitor supporting Miracast right?
Thanks @vwite, I ordered the UNI cable. And a Logitech K830 keyboard, with an integrated touchpad/trackpad.
Thanks @Wiggz! Very annoying that you can't find how to connect by cable It's very unlikely that the Mate 20 Pro will be able to output [email protected] over Wi-Fi Miracast while there's hope with the cable link.

Yeah [email protected] does not seem likely wireless. I originally bought the cable for the Note 9 but I'll try to see a difference with the Mate 20 Pro between wired and wireless and if I don't notice any difference at all I might actually return the cable.
Just as comparison, Note 9 has the option of mirroring screen wireless but if I play a video is choppy, while if I use the cable for DeX it seems more fluid. Even if I end up keeping the cable for a fluid experience at home, can't deny that being able to "turn hotel TV into basic PC" when traveling with either just the keyboard or ONLY the phone (using it as touchpad and touch keyboard) seems amazing.

Well it theoretically is possible. If you search the Wi-Fi Alliance website, from the page about Miracast, it says:
Streams HD and 4K Ultra HD movies from a tablet to an HD television
Seems like the device should be certified Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Miracast™. And I don't know if the Kirin 980 SoC is. All I found is it supports Wi-Fi 802.11 ac and the Hi1103 chip is able of a theoretical peak download speed of 1.7 Gbps.

I could not find much either about its GPU, the Mali-G76, besides it supports 2 displays, obviously. The main display on the Mate 20 Pro is 3120×[email protected] So is it able to drive a secondary 3840×[email protected] display via USB-C?
has anyone compared speed wireless vs with cable?

I've received my Mate 20 Pro but could test only wired projection on 1080p screen.
I don't have yet a Miracast enabled TV or receiver, neither a 4K screen.
Btw, desktop mode looks promising I could launch a ton of Chrome tabs and not notice any sign of slowing down.

Frame rate is barely less on wireless than wired but there is a delay. Is not bad at all though but I find using my laptop thunderbolt dock for the odd shopping spree works well
However it does not support ultra wide resolution. My 2560x1080 monitor shows as 1080p

I just tried it using the Huawei Mate book USBC dock, and can't get it to output 4k to my tv. Only seems to output 1080p..anyone else had any success?
The chinese Huawei online store (Vmall) has a miracast receiver from Hagibis that claims to work in [email protected]
I haven't found any user review that explicitly says it works in 4K tho.
If anyone's interested, the model is Hagibis WFD0535G.
Hello to all who are using the Huawei Mate 20 PRO in desktop mode using EMUI 9. The maximum resolution I can output from the Mate 20 Pro is 720p. Also, the functionality of the apps-O/S available is very limited such as taking screenshots of the desktop, multiple windows of the same app like MS-Word/Excel and comparisons between full PC app functionality to mobile app counterparts. Huawei's desktop mode is Windows 95 all over again but for a docked mobile version of the PC hardware in the 1990s. It's going to take at least a good 5, 7, 10 years before DEX or EMUI desktop mode reaches the level of a PC/laptop level.
EMUI 8 - I was able to get 1080p on my external monitor. With the EMUI 9 OTA update, I can only output 720p on my external monitor from my Huawei Mate 10 Pro. Talk about going backwards!!! I was on chat with Huawei support. They reported it to their internal team. Hopefully, it's something they can fix or patch.

Nevermind. Wrong post. Moderators please delete.
Nope
It supports 1920x1080 only. It won't do t 2560x1440, 2560x1080, or 3840x2160. It won't do 1920x1200, either... I tried them all.
Dex does 3440x1440 and 2560x1440. It won't do 4k. It also won't do 3840x1600, the nice new ultrawide resolution.

QuickCharge?

Hi! I was simply wondering if our vince supports QuickCharge? I'm planning to buy a charging brick and I wan to know if it supports it.
It supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0.

pretty sure 3.0 and not 2.0
It supports Motorola's turbocharger (5v, 12v). When connected a circle appears around the lighting-charging symbol 8n notification panel

Does the Xiaomi Mi 10/Mi 10 Pro support USB 3.1?

Does the Xiaomi Mi 10/Mi 10 Pro finally support the USB 3.1?
All previous Xiaomi phones have only USB 2.0 support. Also the Black Shark series (gaming smartphones).
It says USB 2.0 on GSMArena.
Hello,
Is it a problem Mi 10 supports only USB 2.0? Should I abstain from buying?

I don't see USB 2.0 as a major issue, since I don't really use USB to transfer stuff to/from my phones. But I may be missing something.
To me, the lack of secure Face unlock is a bigger issue. I have the Mi Note 10 and the fingerprint sensor is hit or miss and pretty frustrating. It seems to be affected by lighting conditions and of course freshly washed hands.I have to punch in the code about 30% of the time. Under screen FP sensors just suck, which is why Apple simply decided not to use them.

I will jump in and say that you are correct about in display fingerprint readers - the current technology available simply sucks compared to the old fashioned fingerprinter readers of yesteryear. I change phones every few months, and I truly missed the old fp readers - they were always dependable. I have used the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, the Samsung Galaxy S10 (though their tech is based on ultrasonic scanner), Xiaomi Mi 9, and the OnePlus 7... only the OnePlus 7, because they have a larger embedded scanner and scanning area was really usable.
I am waiting on the Mi 10 only hoping that it is at least a better than the Mi 9. Not many YouTubers have reviewed these fingerprint readers in depth except one or two but then again it all comes down to personal usage.

Bump!
Can anyone with the device actually check?
USB 3.0 implies displayport video over hdmi cable, which makes it super easy to connect the phone to TV screens, mouse/keyboard/storage and turn it into pocketable computer
Still usb 2.0, no USB-C dp alt mode support.

I just have a Xiaomi Mi8, it uses USB2.0, and it's really exasperating.
I use it very often to upload the videos I have recorded and to download maps and other stuff, and it takes 20 times more time than other smartphones with usb3.0.
It's unacceptable that Xiaomi keeps using this very old connection protocol.
