Hello, I have Samsung Galaxy S6 edge, rooted, CrissCross ROM 6.0 and I want to enable navbar (softkeys). I have tried edit build.prop (qemu.hw.mainkeys=0) - malfunction, enable in GravityBox - System UI has stopped. Can anyone help me? Thank you very much.
I have this also. I miss the onscreen buttons. Makes it much easier to use my phone.
What is very strange is that i see transparant nav keys on my screen (even without the build.prop line). It is very transparant you hardly notice it. Do you have the same?
I uploaded a screenshot. As you may notice between the word "favorieten" and "tabbladen" you can see the square nav button.
I came from a 5.1 official rom and added this mod. It worked.
Since on 6.0.1 official i only see this on my screen. The whole color above the "hidden" nav bar is also yellowish. The nav bar itself is bright white.
Here another screenshot you might notice better

Try xposed framework and use the gravity box module should be able to tweak the navigation bar how you want.
Sent from my VS980 4G using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Why don't you want to use gmd?
There's an app called "GMD auto hide soft keys" that hides the bottom software buttons. You then either tap or swipe the bottom of the phone and the buttons appear. You don't use gestures to navigate... You tap on the software keys once they appear. Then when you are done the software buttons dissappear completely.
Or where you looking for fully transparent software buttons that are always showing?

ooh ok that sounds good thanks for both of the suggestions ill try both out and see wich one i like best. ooh i messed with gesture controls and didnt like it much ..thats the only reason it..but it sounds like gmd hide is different. thanks again guys

Xposed Framework has a G2 Module on Play Store that lets you assign the percentage of Navbar you want visible. I'm running at 20% on mine and its super small but very usable.
G2 Xposed LINK
Update to 1.5 just came out, going to check it out now.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but I believe G2 Xposed is only for stock and stock-based ROMs. The OP is running CM and would probably have a lot more luck with something made for AOSP-based ROMs. I would suggest Gravity Box, it has these functions plus a ton of other tweaks that you can use as you please.

From what I understand CyanogenMod has an expanded desktop feature that can be enabled in the interface settings.

You can download a build.prop editor and add:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
he onscreen buttons take up a ton of space. Is there anyway to make them smaller and transparent? This black bar on bottom takes up way to much room. I know in the past there had been options to edit them under the display settings but I am not seeing such options on any 5.0.2 ROM. (I have tried vanir and liquid smooth)
This is on a Verizon vs985. I am pretty familar with the build.prop if Editting it is a must.
I will even paypal someone money for a candy bar if they solve my delima.

You can modify the framework files to get what you want. At least thats how one manually does it on ICS -> KK. Its not that hard. There are a bunch of tuts online, just google it. Or you chould change the DPI which would make everything smaller. There is probably an option in the ROM you are using. If not its a build.prop edit.
When I had my nexus 5, I was running ultimate dynamic navbar, udn playstore link, to hide and change size of the nav menu bar on the bottom of screen. I believe xposed and/or root is a requirement so double check and see if this was something you were looking for.

Hi, on my Head Unit 800x480 the "Volume Bar" is not displayed in its entirety. Left and right the icons are not shown and the background is completely black.
I will soon if possible a photo to upload.
Thanks
Sorry for my bad English.

So I see that the icons are not fitting entirelly. This is related to screen DPI you have. Your ROM - is is a stock one or some custom ROM from this forum? I never used stock ROMs, reflashed to custom one almost immediately. Most custom ROMs have setting for screen DPI, not sure if that's true for stock ROMs. I'd suggest you to play with the DPI, just raising it for a minor value should help.
But what do you mean when you say "the background is completely black"? On your photos, the background looks like it should.
The ROM is here on the forum.
Thanks a lot for your help. I will try it with changing the DPI.
With the black background that was my mistake.
EDIT:
I've changed the build.prop
ro.sf.lcd_density=240 --> 225
Now it looks good. Thanks a lot for your help.

You wrote that you had DPI set to 240 - this is normal setting for the 1024x600 screens as far as I know.
For 800x480 it should be something like 160 or 180, don't remember exactly.
Anyways, it's just for your information, and it is up to you to choose what is better for you.
Okay thanks
I installed this in my RK3188 1024x600 unit and while I get the cool new volume bar when I use the volume slider from the notification panel, it doesn't display when I use my volume knob. Any ideas?

can you make an option to move the volume bar from the bottom to the middle? I have the one knob unit on the left and when you turn the volume rocker your hand blocks the first 30% of it.

I don't like an idea of adding options screen for such a simple plugin.
I'll think, maybe I better compile a separate version centered vertically, it seems to be simpler a lot.

Unfortunately, no. All the graphics in this mod are the PNG images. To become green, they need to be redrawn and replaced in resources.
I'm afraid I don't have any motivation to do that, you need to understand: this was only a simple mod for myself, that I decided to share.
Also, the white is the color that fits any color scheme, this way it will satisfy the most audience (unlike green, red or whatever else)
For instance, I have a Volkswagen with all the buttons and gauges on the dashboard highlighted in red.
Still, I didn't choose this bar to be red, because white is good enough. But green would be a total crap for me.
By the way: in the xposed repository, there is a link to my github with all the source code of this mod. Anybody may feel free to fork it and make any changes they want.

In the Xposed repository, there is a link to full source code of that mod (Github). It is free source, everyone can fork it and do whatever he want.
You can install the Android Studio and compile these sources in it.
Or, you may take an approach with the software like APKTool which allows you to unpack APK files, change resources and repack it back.
Anyway, you'll need to learn how to do either, on your own.
Sharing my little work, I didn't take any responsibility as to provide any further support or even teaching people programming At least, I don't have time for that.
Those little tips are worth it . I.m going to work at this. Learning is a process
Hi!
The aim is to fix main buttons (back/home/menu) panel theme to be dark or transparent. At the moment the theme depends on currently running app: say at home (dark grey) screen it is as expected, but on may apps I use with dark theme the panel has got white background.. And it is very annoying!
I have tried few dark themes, but the problem still exists.
How to fix?
I need this too.

Is its possible?
its driving me insane - it makes my s9+ feel like a cheap laggy phone - what a terrible useless effect.
Do you mean you pull the status bar? Because I like to have it and using Swift installer to do this

I didn't say it was a solution to the blur thing you mentioned. I just said your issue, plus the slow switching animation are things bothering me in Pie and cannot solve it.
Also tried with different themes, but none of them modified those things

I don't think this is possible to remove the blur. It was introduced already in the good lock app quickstar on android 8 and now they added it as default.
when I pull down the notification bar there is no lag though. But I am using the feature "reduce animations" which I really like.. way better than setting animations to 0 in dev options..
Is there any way to make the icons in the quick settings smaller though? They are waaaay to big for me and is killing the experience.

At the beginning i thinked the same, but the content is Blurred to focus on The Notification Pannel i guess, When you touch the status bar The Blur Animation(Transition) was a nice effect, they should leave it as optional and Not Remove it fully

I have the Galaxy Note 8 and the Galaxy Note 9 side by side, both running Android pie. I wasn't paying attention at first, but I noticed something after I installed a good lock, which worked perfectly on my Galaxy Note 9. Upon uninstalling good lock, it is around this time that I noticed that there is a blur background when I pull on my notification bar. But I cannot remember if it was always like that. Comparing it to the Android pie in note8, this is not the case. The background remains transparent but a little bit dimmed, which is what I prefer.

Smaller or are we able to add more than 6 on the top row? Hell my s7 or s5 I think I could have 8 icons on the top. Makes it way more convenient when accessing things. I noticed with Oreo I can have 6 and there is no where that I can find that I can add more... Is this a feature that Oreo removed?
Thanks,
