Clear camera app data and cache. Try google camera app, factory reset. In that order.

- goto SETTINGS - apps - all - media storage, clear data
- reboot phone
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII
well that didnt work.
Just used a photo editing software to "auto fix" and saved the pictures and transferred again and its fine
wonder what was wrong with the original files
edit: while the pictures are loading fine. some thumbnails are wrong. sigh (yes i did the media storage data clear and reboot)
gallery on android seems to be the area that gives me the most problems

Option 1.
- use your file manager to browse to DCIM folder then delete the contents of .thumbnail folder. You have to enable hidden folder to see that folder.
- boot to recovery
- wipe cache partition
- reboot phone.
Option 2. (A long lasting solution)
- Download Quickpic from market.
- It's simply better and less troublesome than the Android gallery app.
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII
im going to try option 1
yeah i already have quickpic installed
the thumbnails are fine on it
blah. .thumbnail is already empty
google really needs to work on the their gallery app

Did wipe cache in recovery?
Anyway, this is the last possible solution from me.
- Goto Settings - Apps - All - Gallery, clear data and clear cache
- reboot phone

Hey guys,
i need help our here. i am facing a rather odd problem which started yesterday. whenever i tried to open gallery, it says "
Not enough space. Delete unnecessary items such as download softwares, videos and documents."
I have factory reset the device 3 times deleted everything, flashed using ODIN but no avail. Any body has any solution for this?
I am using:
Stock ROM XXMEB5
Stock Kernel
Stock Recovery
EDIT: Finally Solved the Problem. The phone was not resetting properly, so for users facing this problem there are 2 possible solutions:
1. Flash stock rom, goto stock recovery and from there wipe data if CWM does not do it properly (In my case CWM did not do it properly)
2. The other solution, the info i figured out was that it had to do something with a folder in Android/Data directory. Try to delete folders one by one to see if this fixes the error

I recently updated OTA to 4.1.2 and have suddenly got this same problem today, im not technically that great so all i did was save the files i wanted to keep and did a factory reset but nothing has changed. I can open my pictures in Smart Gallery Lock Free but im also having the problem that nothing deteles properly, everything i delete re-appears when i re enter Smart Gallery
I have tried removing the files directly from "My Files" but it will only work on the extSdCard not sdcard0 its says deleted but doesnt go anywhere.
I have looked at your point 2. but i dont know what i can delete without making things worse
Hope somebody can help

- uninstalled instagram
- gallery works fine now.
Hope it helps.

Hello, some more details can help us understand your issue. Can you see the thunbnails on the Gallery? Which Gallery are you using? And can you access your SD card now?
According to your descriptions, there are several solutions may be working for this issue.
1. Could you please try to clear data of Gallery? This can be done by Settings - Apps - Gallery. After that, the database of Gallery should be regenerated.
2. Reboot your phone sometime may work on some devices.
If this doesnt work, please contact [email protected], and our developers will be ready for you to fix this issue. Dont forget to put [XDA Feedback] tag on the email title.
Hope this helps.

He is using stock sony album I think. Just a feedback. When i clean my ram via the app and i press clean, it just returns to the home screen of the app. Using 1Tap Boost to clean is fine though. Xperia P JB Moonbreaker 3.5
EDIT: This happened after updating your app.

It generally asks to clear the media data when you uninstall an app .. You might've cleared it and that must have been the reason why your stuff is gone !!

Connect to PC via USB and check if you can find any, read any of them by copying them to local machine.. Just to check if your images are corrupted !!
If you can view them in local machine ... Then problem may be with mediascannerservice not functioning correctly... !!
I'm sure factory data reset shall set all the services back to normal and shall solve the above problem but backup before is recommended.
Just try these checks once
try clearing data of gallery app if images are in whatsapp>images folder(if images are there)

Clearing data doesnt really delete any of your data mate so you can try that !!
And if still the problem persists then its known that mediascanner some time does skip some files without reading them but i dont see the point of them not being read even in local machine and file manager.
But worth a shot try re media scanning the whole device using some external apps called "Scan media" from Google play
Or Try rebooting the device that should initiate the scan ..
