Android N Developer preview is apparently out. - Nexus 6P General

This is the info right here. Enjoy! http://i.imgur.com/rYMJzB7.png?_utm_source=1-2-2

O boy O boy O boy!!!

It looks like ars pulled that story. You can only see it on Google Cache. Here's the link to the preview but as of right now, I don't see anything there
http://developer.android.com/preview

http://developer.android.com/preview/download.html
Images are now up for download!
"Get over-the-air updates
You can receive over-the-air updates to preview versions of Android by enrolling your compatible device in the Android Beta Program. These updates are automatically downloaded and will update your device just like official system updates.
For more information and to enroll your device, see the Android Beta Program web site. http://www.google.com/android/beta
Warning: If you enroll a device in the Android Beta Program, then later opt-out of receiving updates on the device, all user data on that device will be removed."
OTA link to signup for the beta program is dead for now. Hoping it lights up soon

I'm guessing we flash this via fastboot am I correct?

because flashing the image is sooooo hard.....

wondering if the current method for systemless root will still work. i left my USB-C cord at home so i can't even flash right now...womp womp.
if the system root method works i'll probably give it a whirl tomorrow and just make a backup of my rom and save it on my desktop PC

General section has a great guide on how to flash it without losing data, pretty much the same as losing data you just don't do the wipe part. lol

How do you know new nexus will come in 7-8 months? Thats what everyone thought new android will come and we got surprise by google that it will be relased in summer not in autumn along with android n preview getting released today.
But my point was that theres no point in buying nexus 6p then switching to new nexus with timeline of not even a year which is waste of money.

Surface Flinger memory leak supposedly fixed!

Matthew Fry posted the following here:
Ladies and gentlemen, I have the most amazing news. Pretty much the best news I can think of.
I have finally received word back from the Mali Developers. They revisited the issue and found that the fault was indeed in the Mali drivers.
"Following previous emails, the Nexus 10 issue that you have been mentioning has been fixed in the latest versions of the Mali driver."
It is, unfortunately, Google's responsibility to release this new driver version with the next Nexus 10 factory image. We can only hope that the fact that I/O has come and gone and the recent release of the Google Edition S4 and One on 4.2.2 does not mean that JB 4.3 or KLP are a long ways out.
Click to collapse
So hopefully we'll see the drivers soon! They're supposed to be released here when ready!
I really hope they fix this issue. I turn off my tablet at night so its not a huge issue but on heavy usage days I'm guaranteed at least a reboot if not more.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk HD
Wow I am so happy. Good thing I didn't end up selling my tablet yet! Also seems like 4.3 is coming on July 24th, looking forward to it.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Oh thank god. That's my only gripe with this tablet.
That sounds great! however... not sure if that is something that is going to be included in Android 4.3, if it was recently released Google would have to make a lot of testing before put that in Android 4.3, maybe it was distributed to them before, will see next week..
I am hoping with all my heart that this is baked into 4.3. I cannot STAND this issue any longer.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk HD
I also can't wait to have a stable system that runs without fault for days, without having to reboot. I use a auto-reboot app that launches everyday at 7:10 AM just after my alarm, no biggie but if I watch some html videos...
Stupid Samsung. Ugh.
It was their mistake from the beginning. Idiots.
Not buying anything more from them for a while.

Mention here first.
I think we have to hope it is going to be release as part of the 4.3 update. If the Mali update was from the 14th June then I think it will be included in the 4.3 update. If it is the 14th July then maybe we might not see it until 4.3.1 or KLP. Let's hope it makes it

He means install Nova launcher from playstore and use it as your default launcher. Also in advanced settings of Nova launcher there is an option for keeping the screens in memory to avoid redraws. You can enable it but I am not having any redraws even with having this option disabled. Just use Nova launcher.

It seems these are not complete source codes and in fact you need ddk - driver development kit - to build real drivers which is not available to devs. So I guess we should wait for Google.

fragmentation is the wrong word, fragmentation implies that android as an entire OS is missing major features and apps are incompatible which is simply not the case, you're thinking of segmentation which is what android is now(back in the 2.2/2.3.3 days you would be right though). With 4.0 android being released, it really blurred the lines between different Android versions and made things very modular as opposed to lets say iOS which is very monolithic, you can not get the latest safari on an older version of iOS, you can however have the latest google now, maps, ect. on a device with 4.0 without rooting and have full functionality for the most part(just missing minor things like "ok google") and unlike iOS, aps built on newer versions of android work on older versions of android unlike iOS where newer apps are incompatible with older versions of iOS
I think an update is required. I have a glitch with the back cover. The current modem is pretty awful. It even makes my phone start up longer. The device even added that T-Mobile 4G LTE screen logo too. I remember it took no time to boot up the S5. Now, it takes mine roughly 30 seconds.

So it should be today that we get Lollipop. If you have received the OTA let people know here and post screenshots and findings (and URLs..)

Yeah me too!
Since my Nexus 7 LTE and Note 4 will take a few more weeks to get the Lollipop glory.
Just done a format and flashed the stock ROM, now battering the check for update button...
Somehow I'm thinking we'll get the factory images sooner than full OTA today or tomorow, and OTAs should start throughout November up until Nexus 9 LTE and Nexus 6 are out
And here's me thinking that I don't know if I care for 5.0 without xposed :/

As it stands it simply doesn't work with art.
If the dev actually goes back to it to make it work again then it will. For now its simply safer to assume that there shall be no xposed for ART (and therefore 5.0+)

Unfortunately the situation is not that optimistic, as Rovo89 (the author of Xposed) said:
rovo89 said:
...in short: Wait until the final images and source code drop. Then wait again until it's ready. I can't give any estimation when that will be the case, it depends much on my personal situation. Chance are pretty low that it will be within a month after Lollipop release, and will get higher once I start thinking about flashing a Lollipop ROM myself (which would probably be CM12, and I think these guys won't give us a timeline either, for good reasons). I'm still not 100% sure Xposed for Lollipop will work, but I hope that in some way it will, even if it might not be as compatible with most ROMs and as easy to install as it is for Android 4.x.

The new LG isn't out yet, it will be the first to ship with native nougat on board.
So if it's really going to hit our phones today, is the first time the new OS comes out before the phone
Yes. So then where is the nexus?
Maybe Google learned after the past two years where everything is spoiled weeks prior to the official announcement of the device. Would make sense if we just got the device out thin air.

The only reason I think it's coming sooner is because of the OS release.

It appears the original release may have caused issues which is why they've held back on some devices and issued quick successive releases on the ones that have.

Maybe there's some exclusive N feature that's going to launch with the Pixel phones that'll also be on the 6P, but they want it to launch on that phone first before they roll it out in an update? Idk.

For as long as the developer previews have been out i can't believe they have this many bugs all the sudden. They have something up their sleeve, thats for sure. Just hope it's something good haha.
Every N ROM I've tried has had intermittent issues connecting to the camera (on the 6P). MM doesn't have those issues. Maybe that's one of the issues holding it back.
