So I called the store closest to me and they told me to come in and they will take care of it. Got to the store and they told me I have to call a 1800 number and got it taken care of. Also apparently you can only get the free case if you bought the slate grey version of the phone.

I ordered the gold version online and they offered the free case.
Hmmm. The woman I spoke to on the phone was very friendly up until I mentioned the free case and then she snapped and kept telling me it's only for the black version. Oh well at least I got 75 bucks back.

That's a crazy deal.
I got mine from NewEgg 25$ gift card but the phone cost 550.
I got a protection plan with no deductibles for 50$. B&H has one but it's 70$ per accident.
So over all 575 vs 525.
I never bought from B&H before but new egg has really good support. They sent me a second phone right away one day delivery when I called and said I have a scratch out of the box on the screen.

I just pulled the trigger on this deal. Got the graphite (black) 32gb model with Speck TPU case. After taxes it came to $466.33. I'm pretty dang happy right now. It will be available for pickup from my local bestbuy on the 17th. I'm upgrading from my Galaxy S4 (AT&T), so I'm guessing I'll need to run by my local AT&T store to get a different sim.

Hey! I was just checking on the Amazon price and they added a new incentive!
If you add a Hot Spot to your service at activation you get a $100 Amazon Gift Card. I don't see any fine print stating how long you have to have the Hot Spot feature. For what I was looking at it costs $20 more per month so even if I keep it for 1 month that's an $80 "discount" on the phone. Brings it down from their current $200 to $120. And I don't think Amazon taxes phones and there's free 2 day shipping.

I'm in Charlotte right now. I've tried Best Buy and they said no because it's web only.
I paid the same thing. It's a standard price for newly released premium phones nowadays.
It's worth it. See if you can't try BB to price match Amazon.

It's definitely worth it! However, in addition to the 300 dollars there is tax, in states like CA they charge that on the full retail price of the phone.

my brother gave me his galaxy note for my birthday. He said that he exchanged his phone and got a $150 credit. He had to pay the remaining balance for an upgrade phone, $150. I don't know if you have a phone that you can exchange (he had an HTC Vivid 4g for ATT). Thing to note, he traded his phone at a certified reseller and not at a corporate store. YMMV.

Feel my pain, I paid $688 with tax Got it early couldn't wait for my upgrades in May. But I figured I will get 2 for $600 in May with my 2 due upgrades. Give one to the GF and sell one for $550 on Craigslist and make most of my cash back that I paid outright for mine. In the long run it will cost me roughly $100 bucks to have it 2 1/2 months early. Worth it to me. Can't stand waiting.

I called 611 on my phone to talk to Customer Service this past Saturday to tell them that Frys was selling the Note for $199 and they credited my account $100. I was just three days shy of my 30 day purchase date. All they asked me was when did i buy my phone. I didn't have to prove that the price had dropped.

I got mine at BB for 199.99 and this was with an upgrade. They price match to how much Fry's is selling them. But it wasn't that easy.
The first BB I went to didn't do it so I went to another BB and they tried checking Fry's website to see if they could find the ad. But finally after 2 hrs. I got my Note.
Funny story is that the BB that did price match had to send someone to pick up from the store that did not do the price match.
Thankgod Fry's had one store in Illinois. During their promotion I used it at local Best Buy..... 25.5 miles away or 0.5 miles over the BB distance limit.
Might be picking this baby up 2morrow... Price matching @ 229, $50 off from freedom choice, $5 certificate, and $100 dollar check I just found going through junk mail today dated from 2010 w/ no expiration date from Time Warner in my sectional's compartment chest(LOL!!) will cost me only $55 bucks.... I received my note from Amazon wireless on Friday last week. Setup is super easy. Just be sure you don't change your contract for 181 days or Amazon will charge you some ridiculous amount. The flexibility off ATT seems pretty good though. Go over your data for the month and they just charge for another gig at $10. I will tell you that I called after I ordered it and asked them to ship overnight as there was no option during the checkout to change shipping speed. They upgraded me for free. Really good service through Amazon. MAKE SURE YOU READ THE FINE PRINT THOUGH. You'll see what I mean about 181 days.

I was able to get the guys at Best Buy to agree to price match the $229 price, even though it was technically against their price matching policy. Combined with the $50 gift card deal I had, it was fantastic. I just hope I can do the same when my other line comes up for upgrade next month!

I stumbled upon this at Costco over the weekend and was happy to find the deal. I'd been thinking about moving from Verizon to AT&T for a while now due to needing better 4G/3G coverage in a few areas and this sealed the deal.
Funny thing is that if you'd asked me what phone I was getting a few weeks ago I probably would have said a Galaxy S4. My last few phones on Verizon have been Samsungs (a Fascinate and a Galaxy Nexus) and I've been pretty happy with them overall. But after playing with the HTC One for a while I found that it fit better in my hands and that I liked the screen better. (Those are two of the most important phone features, IMHO.) The more distinctive looks of the phone sealed the deal and great pricing was just icing on the cake.
It is a great price and Costco has gear return policies. 90 days.
I regret purchasing square and trade be a because Costco has a 100 up front and only 25 deductible.

I asked them and he said you can, but I would call for clarification. I'm confused with this:

Most contracts for subsidized phones are for 2 years so the carrier can get their money back. You have to sign the 2 year contract agreement with ATT or face an ETF should you choose to end it earlier. Pretty standard these days.
Another important thing to mention about Costco is that they only charge you taxes on $270 rather than the full retail ($549 IIRC) so it came out to much less than what it would've cost direct through ATT (about $180 total after tax with the $159.99 device price).

I see you live in CA, so those taxes will apply to me as well when I upgrade. I'm excited to get my HTC One and SGS4 in July. Hopefully they have similar deals to the ones right now!

I picked up the one from costco over the weekend. They had no problem keeping my grandfathered unlimited plan. They didn't have the black and told me to come back any time within 90 days to exchange when it arrives.
Just picked up the One on this deal. mmm. Initially, I really wanted black, which they will ship you, but I also wanted immediate gratification. I am getting to like the silver more and more and the free accessories kit isn't horrible

I looked over all the paperwork and the best I can tell is there is no penalty by Costco and it seems you can kill the contract after 14 days and pay the $325 ETF.

Is this the tiny gap along the top, most noticeable near power button? It almost looks like the edge of the white plastic there has a slight difference in level.

Something else interesting on the AT&T vs. Verizon question: Straight Talk now supports AT&T LTE for $45/mo.
My G2 was $540 on release day, as were some others that I've read about.
It supposedly has to do with the difference between the AT&T Next price and the Full Retail price, with the former needing to be price-adjusted by the rep, but most reps don't realize they need to or have to.
My reps never understand why I want to buy phones at full retail (I've bought like 5 or so in the last 6 months). It must not be common?

This.
Multiply the "Next" price by 20 and thats what you pay + tax for any phone in the store.
in this case its 27x20=540 + tax. The listed retail price is meaningless.
Whats really interesting is the new iPhone 5c is listed as $20 on Next pricing which would effectively mean it will only be $400 brand new, but their listed retail is like $549

The Verizon deal only works on contract. If i could pick up the G2 from Verizon off-contract for $540 before taxes, I'd go get it right now.

Holy crap. If I can get a 5C for $400, I would totally do it just to have another smartphone.
I have a problem
I bought mine on launch day and the display said $579 no contract price, but I was charged $540 (before tax). I thought it was odd, but wasn't about to complain. This phone is a steal at that price.
It was $540 in stores when I picked it up on Friday. So glad I didn't order online for that 575 it's showing. I'm in Dallas too.

I went into my AT&T store to buy it, but they would only sell it for $575, not $540. I asked them about the $540 price and price matching, etc. No go. Didn't buy!

I would have still paid $575 for this phone. It's that awesome. But I'd like to know why there are inconsistencies with the price. Even the display in the AT&T store shows $575.

I tried to get the $540 price and failed as well. I said "my friend got it for $540" (since you guys are all my friends ) but he said that is the NEXT pricing and I had to pay the $579. Oh well - I still think that's a great price for a device of this caliber and I am a happy owner.

Yeah, it's still a great value, especially when you stack it up against the Note 3, iPhone 5s, and GS4. You get a lot of phone for the money.

I'm surprized more people don't do the buy on contract and just pay the ETF. I mean $199+$325 is only $525. Plus it looks like you only pay tax on the $199. Or maybe I'm missing something.

I thought about that too, but wanted to save my upgrade for whatever comes next. Also, it depends on which state you live in. In the lovely people's republic of California, we have to pay tax on the retail price regardless.

I just got upgraded to HTC One 3 months ago. So what will be the price in the store if i want to buy this at full price $540 or $579 ?
