[PROJECT] Making AOSP Device Tree

Does someone wants to help me making an AOSP device tree?
Would bring some more roms to our device
I already started with a branch and commented out some compiling errors:
https://github.com/benschhold/android_device_oneplus_oneplus2/tree/aosp
Any help is appreciated.

Oxygen is based on caf so it is difficult. But not impossible. Did you build tho? We can get it booting easily. But ril and some stuff womt work.

Make pure aosp source. And clone busybox from cm if its still not fixed. Its not a device error.

does someone know where to define where kernel source is stored?
the typical TARGET_KERNEL_SOURCE is not working
when to try to build inline its always looking in out/ folder
Man, wish I could help but lack the skills.. Plenty of Linux machines on hand though.. Where do I start?

The problem is the kernel, i've already had this kind of problem.
Are you compiling your own kernel? If yes, which sources?
Basically in lollipop the kernel is compiled uncompressed with appended dtb, since MM, kernel is compressed and dtb is included in kernel.

no i went back to screwd cause aosp just wont find my kernel source
i fckd it up elsewhere
there is a solution for this. set in your baord config like this
Code:
BOARD_CUSTOM_BOOTIMG_MK := device/oneplus/oneplus2/mkbootimg.mk
and take the file from cm for example

Cyanogenmod

Will this phone ever see official Cyanogenmod roms?
No. Le will never release kernel sources. So you will never have pure CM roms. The CM roms will be based on official ones like 16S, 17S etc.

I don't know @deadman96385, but i think if a User which such "Experience" in a Community like XDA Developers tells you that the kernel sources may be release, i think you just have to be a Little bit Patient and anytime your dreams will be fulfilled... am i right deadman?

Yes I guess, its just this is the key reason whether I decide to buy this phone or not, dont want to be stuck with chinese roms in the future.
Hi,
Well we already have resurrection remix which is more than decent.
OK... Maybe with a precompiled kernel but still.
I use it as a daily driver and encountered no problems so far except for a slightly too high battery drain.
But a device tree would allow to build other ROMs which would be really cool...
Regards
@deadman96385 it's already in the mid of september.. do you still see any realistic chance that we're gonna see some kernel source or a cyanogenmod in the future. if you do.. of which timeframe do we talk? days, weeks months?

What are the main disadvantages between precompiled kernel and the use of kernel sources?
Also, I recommend checking htcmania Spain forum, because Parasite_remix is cooking Mooke and CM13 ROMs with 17S firmware.

Hi,
With the custom kernel, that one can be "optimized" for the device and all missing drivers can be added. At least, that is what I have been told but I'd be glad to be proven wrong.
For the htcmania link : thanks a ton, but I don't think I'll use it.
I sold the x820. Battery drain was really too high and even with moderate use, I could barely get through the day
Finding a replacement was tough, but I am trying the Xiaomi mi5 and Moto X Style (Pure) to see if they can do the job...
Both have flaws the x820 had not. And I honestly must admit that I am missing the x820 already
Regards.

Pretty bad to hear this.
Sadly though, more and more people are leaving the Le Max2 camp. If only they would release the sources...
Anyhow, good luck with your next device

There are a few problems with using prebuilt kernels.
1. Upstream changes in Android source code might need related kernel changes, if you don't have the kernel source you can't do this.
2. For the same reason, you may be stuck on old android versions if the kernel isn't compatible with newer versions
3 Vendor may have customized some android frameworks and made related kernel changes. As CM wouldn't have these changed frameworks, some features may not work (although this doesn't appear to be an issue with this phone as the CM builds for it seems to be fully functional)

[Kernel] [3.4.15] [D855] WinXkernel [Alpha 0.2] [15/02/17]

After compiling roms for a couple devices and learning about the android rom, i have decided to dabble in the arts
of kernel compiling, i started with my main device the Nexus 6p, learnt a fair bit compiling kernels for it, so i decided to
come back to this device for testing purposes and trying to test and go back to ARM device which is completely different.
Now with the Nexus device i went full updated linux kernel first then gave updates, but this time ill be doing something a little
different, i will upstream some kernel updates, plus caf updates then i will give a release, or for example, the first realease i will
give you guys will be 3.4.2 kernel version, just to get things going, then next release will be a higher version.
I hope all of you like it i will be adding alot of stuff in the coming months.
All releases will keep up to date and working with latest CM roms
Here is the download link just click on the kernel and it will download

Ok so stock stock kernel you get with stock rom or even custom like CyanogenMod/lineageos has a kernel version of 3.4, each incremental update after that eg 3.4.1 or even 3.4.100 has many fixes and updates within the kernel, some do nothing for our device but others can, a small code change in one file can impact the way the kernel works

Well I'm running latest lineageos and I have never had it reboot on me. Are you using any kernel manager apps at all, as I haven't been able to add and customisation to it just it. It may panic because it's reaching for something it doesn't have
No reboots here either,
Im running the latest official Lineage .
if u have kernel mod or any other kernel tuner installed try to go back to your basic settings or just delete the app and install it again after your first boot.
Really smooth kernel !
Hi... Can you had the savoca Patch to use with Wheatstone.apk? Can use my phone without it

[Dev Request] ElementalX Custom Kernel for Mido

Can't imagine my Nexus 7 (Deb) without ElementalX Kernel. I'm a big fan of ElementaX Kernel and the associated app(EX Kernel Manager) to tweak the Kernel on the fly. Can not thank @flar2 enough for his effort to build these amazing things. I know there is official ElementalX Kernel for Redmi Note 3. I'd love the same for Redmi Note 4. So I hereby request @flar2 to make this possible.
As many people already said, I will love try the awsome franco kernel if @franciscofranco kindly decides to make it available for Redmi Note 4 as well.
Those who want the same please comment here to show the support
Yup absolutely best kernels out there on XDA, one can dream.

Yeah, totally loved ElementalX kernel should be awesome.

RR by Alexey + ElementalX and after that MIUI who??
+1
That would be sweet! Awating answer.
+1
+1
That would be cool, but wouldn't they need to have a unit of Mido so they can test their kernels first-hand?
Sent from my Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 using XDA Labs
+1 but it won't happen because Xiaomi doesn't update kernel sources with updates and elementalx tends to be as close as possible to upstream for sake of stability.
Just look at the problems we're having with custom roms. We're stuck with older drivers/blobs because newer ones won't work with the old kernel code released by Xiaomi.
