Hello all,
I'm planning on buying a Sprint HTC one M9. But first I would like to know:
If the Sprint HTC one M9 is GSM capable?
In case it is, which GSM, 3g & 4G bands does it has?
Is there a simunlock method not involving buying an unlock code?
I could not found any Specs for the Sprint version of the phone.
Thanks
Yes, it is.
Take a look at here, AFAIK Sprint have same specs with the WWE version http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_one_m9-6891.php
here too http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-one-m9/general/sim-unlock-thanks-to-gcprokey-t3166761
P/s: try to search before post anything bro.

Hi,
Recently i have aquired and HTC Hero.
While i was reading posts here at xda, i encountered people talking about GSM and CDMA, where i got really confused.
I've searched google to answer my questions and only i could find was Sprint version and Europian vertion, plus got more confused.
Here is the link of the Hero i have:
http://www.phonehouse.pt/DetalheProduto.aspx?pid=2054
What are the deferences about those two Hero's?
What vertion do i have?
if you put a simcard in it it is GSM, if not it is CDMA. the picture you linked is AFAIK a gms hero, not sure whether you can tell it for sure just by looking at it. GSM and CDMA are different mobile network technologies, to make it short GSM is europe CDMA is usa.
With the hero its quite easy though, the CDMA version looks different to the GSM.
But phones normally look the same.
Pretty sure you have a GSM Hero. That looks to be a European site (selling in Euros) - is it Portugal? All European Heros are GSM. The CDMA ones are for the Sprint network in the USA. The main difference is that they use different mobile phone technology. And the GSM one has a SIM card the CDMA one does not.
In our area , there is available EVO3D cdma for cheap rate, it has a T-mobile logo on it, but the buyer says tht he has unlocked it for reliance cdma network
question is if i root it and put a custom rom on it, will it still be unlocked at reliance or it will be locked ??
if it has t-mo branding on it, it's probably gonna be the sensation, which is not the evo 3d. Secondly, t-mo is gsm only. If I were you, I'd verify if it really is the 3d, not the sensation, but I'm sure it will be the latter (if it isn't some scam to begin with)

I'm fairly certain my CDMA EVO 3D will NOT ever operate on a GSM network w/o changing the radio hardware inside.
Unless the GSM version comes with both radios inside, it will be impossible for it to operate on a CDMA network. "Unlocked" is generally a GSM term as GSM devices can be unlocked and then operate on any carrier.
Where as CDMA devices have to be programmed for a specific carrier. The programming process for a CDMA device can be a bit complex for people w/o computer experience.
Hope that helps clarify! I'm sure somebody else with more knowledge on the EUR versions of the GSM EVO 3Ds can chime in from their experience.
EDIT: posted while i was replying...

Also very great point! Don't think there is any GSM EVO 3D version being officially sold in the US under the TMO or ATT brand (the two largest GSM companies in the US). Perhaps a foreign GSM version of the EVO 3D, once "unlocked", could operate on a US GSM carrier such as TMO or ATT, but fairly confident TMO and ATT havent ever sold a GSM EVO 3D.
As a double check, if you wanted, a quick glance at the line up of phones available on their web site should help clarify. Or if you really wanted, call their customer service departments and ask about a EVO 3D or any type of 3D device to see what they have to offer.
I am currently on vacation in the United Arab Emirates, and I would like to purchase the One X+ here. I live in the US and have service with AT&T. All the stores that I talk to here say that the version of the phone they carry has built-in LTE. According to wiki, however, it seems like only the at&t model has an LTE radio (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTC_One_X).
Do these stores know what they're talking about? They have working phone display models, but there isn't an LTE network in place here yet for me to verify whether the phone has it or not. Any other ways that I can check?
AW: [Q] Is there an international version of One X+ with LTE?
no LTE for International HOX+
The SOC one x have gpu at 520 mhz seem one x+ ???
Telus one?
no
Nope, there isn't. I live in the UK and the only LTE version of anything remotely similar to a One X+ LTE version is the One XL, it's the International version of the One X in America. There is no One X+ XL or anything. Besides, LTE is really not all that. HSDPA+ is good enough for me.

Lol, sounds like they want to just sell u a phone. If you're going to be gone for awhile then wait til u get home and maybe the new HTC M7 device will be out and maybe with tegra 4. No, USA and Telus version phones are only with LTE built in.
I've been looking around for some good deals on a off contract HTC One. I'm currently on AT&T but I've noticed T-Mobile and Sprint HTC One's seem to be selling cheaper. I've read that all HTC One's have the same hardware including radios, but what about the LTE bands? Is there any difference between the carriers? And would I first have to unlock another carriers branded phone in order to get it to work on AT&T?

I'm pretty sure the T-Mobile One will work with AT&T's LTE network. Not sure if you need to unlock the AT&T or T-Mobile Ones to use on each other's networks. You can't use Sprint on anything but Sprint's network. Sprint uses CDMA and AT&T and T-Mobile are GSM networks.
You should get a T-Mobile version of the One, that is the best version to get. It will support both AT&T and T-Mobile LTE bands, plus regular AWS 4G on T-Mobile. You will need to have it SIM unlocked to use it with AT&T, eBay is where you can do it.
From where I am, socal, on CL everywhere, the AT&T version is always cheaper. T-Mobile version is harder to find and usually costs more.

Thanks for the answers. Good to know a T-Mobile phone will work should I purchase one.

Curious as well, can someone give solid proof of all bands? I wouldn't want to just fall back on word of mouth when purchasing a phone based on this info.
Thanks!

No only t mobile not sprint or version bit you could get int version
Looking to move from IOS back to Android and got my eye on the HTC one.
Bit confused about the many versions out there. Read there are different radios, and some may be better than others.
Please correct me if i'm wrong here:
Dev edition - unlocked (unlocked bootloader also?)
Tmo - "best" support for radios vs ATT and Sprint (att version doesnt support tmo's LTE?)
What is the M7 version I occasionally see? is that the Dev edition?
edit: again, please correct me if i'm wrong here but based on some research:
ATT LTE is 700 and 1700
ATT 4G is 700/1700/2100
Tmo LTE is AWS
Tmo 4G is 1700/2100
ATT HTC One supports 850 but that’s only 3G (ATT also uses 1900 for 3G)
Tmo HTC One supports 700/1700 (ATT LTE) 2100 (ATT 4G) & AWS (TMO LTE) but lacks 850 which is ATT 3G.
So Tmobile's HTC One supports both ATT and Tmo LTE and 4G, but does not support ATT 3G.
Dev Edition is sold by HTC and has an unlocked bootloader
Google/Nexus edition- same phone but without ir blaster and HTC software, has stock adroid OS
m7 is the "codename" for the phone
All you have to do is get the phone for whichever carrier you are on, minus Verizon (they dont have it yet)

The Google edition still has the ir blaster it's just disabled until Google implements it in their OS by default
