Hello there I am working towards a more complete home automated solution I have come across LinuxMCE and this is brilliant Media Centre platform os this would be brilliant if it could be ported across to a custom rom for s802 s805 s905 and the coming Rk3368 this would as a great Linux base os for the MBOX Sorry android
On a wider note is it possible to write a custom rom that is standard Bios Based pc system with witch you could pixie Boot ( to be use in conjunction CCboot or a pixie server) or to install win7/Linux on to. The ROM would Need to incorporate appropriate drivers for win 7 ect
Then you would be able to install you own os systems but more importantly could pixie boot the same image across several mbox'es meaning when you make changes they happen accorss all machines
Also this might be a bit far what's the chance of a MBOX Base ROM incorporating Grid Computing ( Tieing all the mbox processors on a network together) so when it boots its finds other mbox's on the network with the same rom and share the processing power between the machines this would only Really be advantageous on the RK3368 BOX as it Gigabit Network socket but over all would give you an extremely powerful home media network giving you processing power where its needed Cheers

I'd bought this WE a little box from Engel Axil with Android 2.3.
This box is powered by an ARM CORTEX (armv7) processor with 512Mo of RAM and 2Go stockage.
More info HERE.
I'd installed openssh and I can see the return of 'uname -a':
Code:
Linux localhost 2.6.34 V1.3.0-70-gee2481e(20120217.100957) armv7l GNU/Linux
A spanish community seem to have succeed to make a ICS release for it HERE, but they don't say anything about the procedure to install this.
Is there somebody here which will be able to explain me how to upgrade my Engeldroid ?
With 'busybox installer' and ssh terminal, I am able to get root access.
Now I try to set the default home launcher to something else than original spanish launcher....
I'm interested in this too!
The EngelDroid 1007M looks just like what I need, but I don't like that its software is in spanish.

Hello Guys,
I'm living in Spain myself and bought me one of these nifty boxes as well and started to fizzle around with it.
Here are my findings with it so far:
Android:
The box comes standard with Android 2.4.3 (or was it 2.3.4, I'm at work right now and can't remember correctly ) but can be upgraded to a 4.0.3 version that is made by Mygica.es.
The link to download the upgrade is indeed the link you've posted.
To install this upgrade you will need to download the zipfile, rename it to update.img and copy it to a clean SD Card.
Make sure that the Engeldroid is powered off and put the SD Card in the Engeldroid.
Than take something pointy and press and hold the reset button on the back (the smal little hole) and plug in the power connection to boot the Engeldroid in update mode. You can release the reset button when you see the restore-android-logo appearing on the screen.
The droid will now look for the update.img on the SD Card and start updating your box. There will be a random offset message but that is nothing to worry about and does not give any problems with the installation.
The first time after installing this new Android version the unit will take up to 15 minutes to boot it due to installing all settings and default apps from this custom rom.
The normal remote control with the keyboard on the back won't work anymore, but the motion controller will. It is highly advisable to connect a wireless keyboard and/or mouse or combination. Myself, I'm using a Logitech K400 keyboard/touchpad combination which works flawless.
Another option for the Media Center tweakers would be to install Linux with XBMC on this.
It is nowhere comfirmed but that is how I am using my Engeldroid at the moment and it turned my droid box into a proper XBMC media center and Samba file server that shares all my movies from the connected disc on the network as well.
The install procedure is the almost the same as with the other ROMS, download, unpack the zipfile, make sure the file is called update.img, copy to the root of the SD Card, plug it in and reset the droid with the reset button hold.
The link for the specific build of XBMC Linux that is working with our droid I can't post here yet, but search on google for: Pivos XBMC-Linux Beta 100912 and you will find the Pivos forums with the release topic of this ROM.
Don't try the Android ROM from Pivos, it is not compatible with the Engeldroid EN1007M. No worries if you want to try it, it won't blow up our box but just won't install.
If you have any more specific questions, please ask or send me a message or email and I will get in touch with you.
Official update
There is an official update for this device to ICS 4 (site in spanish though)
engeldroid . com
Got to "Nueva ROM Android 4 ICS" --> "ROM Android 4 ICS" (I'd link it but I don't have 10 posts yet )
howdy ,
i hope i am posting in the right area ... i looked around and didn't see anything specifically related .
i recently acquired one of the intel "educational" tablets that (according to lore) was actually manufactured by a third party while panasonic and intel put their name on it .
intel did provide the uPC ... Z3740D / 1.8 GHz / Quad Core :
this machine also goes under the name of "3E" .
i loaded W10 on it to check it out and installed the drivers .
it works nicely , is fairly quick in response and the display looks very acceptable for a tablet .
it is a dual touch and actually has two speakers on the front corners !
the machine looks like it was never really used ... it just sat on a shelf in some school .
in short , for 65 bucks i got a *new* pad w/cradle-keyboard and power supply .
now , for the why i am here part .
i am not a W10 fan by any stretch of the imagination , so i figured i would try loading linux mint or android on it .
forget linux anything ... it will not load , the uefi and secureboot flag it .
(a couple other guys over at the panasonic forum at notebookreview have tried as well)
what did load was a copy of remix 6.xx (shock shock !) , but it choked and puked at random times .
sooo ... i went and got a copy of 7.1.2rc ... i was able to load it and it does work nicely ... for the most part .
there are three major issues :
microphone does not work
auto-rotate does not function
gps not found
and that is why i am here ... seeking help with these issues .
i have a theory that perhaps one of the true mobile builds might work but i have no idea on where to start .
there has been a lot of those units like i bought dumped on the market recently ...
i think they would make good units for kids to use (and adults as well) .
thanks for your time in advance .
ps ... i just discovered that this is the wrong section , please move to the general Q&A .

Hey Sherimran,
I'm also suffering the same problem as you.
I did a clean install of W10 and that's where all the problems began.
Nothings working except the display(not touch) and the usb ports.
Did you manage to get your hands on the drivers???

Hello All,
I will be very grateful to any who may help me with this doubt...
I have a TV Box based on S905X3, such TV Box comes with 4GB RAM + 32GB ROM, but I want to replace (with somebody that currently have reballing some laptops motherboards) the Nand Module with more capacity (let's say 128GB ROM).
But I would like to know if that is possible, since the firmware that comes with the TV Box needs to be changed to, in order the software recognizes 1st. the Brand of Nand Module and 2nd. the storage capacity.
Since, I think (due to my limited experience with PCBs), this PCBs comes like the Motherboards for Computers Desktop or Laptop where the RAM is standard (despite the brand) and the ROM is the HDD or SDD standard too (despite the brand and working with equivalent eMMC/Nand modules), and the unique difference is the brand ??
I have understood that at the difference from Desktop/Laptop Computers, the TV Boxe PCBs don't have Bios, then the "Boot ini file" is flashed at the same time the firmware is loaded to ROM. so opening the firmware, and adding by code the name of drivers and location the PCB recognizes all the drivers for hardware placed on PCB.
It's the above correct?
and for that reason, the different firmware placed in forums and communities are packed for specific SoC brands, like Allwinner, Rockchip, Amlogic, Etc., and after according to different TV Box factories and brands like Mecool KM1, TX3, TX9, H95 Pro, H96 Max, Etc. ??
At the end, confirming my doubt will help me to proceed to such ROM Upgrade. based on ROM modules brands like Biwin, Queenston, Samsung, Etc.; I will open the firmware file, find the right "dtbo.img" file to change drivers, and then flashing the TV Box.. right !!
Thank you so much...

The pinout of different nand chips can be different, look at the differences in pins to achieve mask rom mode on various device, same brands have a higher chance to have same pins but can be different, only way to be sure is to check pinouts on the datasheets of the 2 chips, ensure voltages and clock pins ect... all match up
Ram Inof is usally stored in the DTB but i believe the storage will detect automatically, is flashes system, vendor. first, then flashed the data partition to fill the remaining storage with the lines similar to
dtbo-80000
system-3004334
vendor=8432432
data=fill
Drivers are usually inside the vendor partition, for wifi, bluetoothe ect... the DTB has hardware info like ram, pins or the ir sensor, rest button ect... and remote control information too
I currently have 2 boxes, one is s905w, one is Allwinner H3 and both are 2G/16GB and I want to play around with it, I have used the ATV rom, I find it quite limited.
- I know that the applications on ATV are only for TV but I want to install other applications on ATV but they are blocked, I have to use a phone browser to download but when I run, the application is displayed. stand, and the screen is displayed horizontally and the most annoying thing is that it does not support touch emulation like Ugoos rom.
- So I tried to find out if there is any RemixOS Rom for the S905W chip, because it can open many apps, the interface is the same as the desktop, and it meets my requirements, but unfortunately, I only see ROM remixos for the chip S905 only.
