Soft Bricked CM, Need Help Restoring - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

To start off, my Samsung Galaxy S3 had Cyanogen Mod 12 installed on it. Without realizing it, I installed the Cyanogen Mod 13 NIGHTLY. My version of Open Gapps started spamming me with "Google Play Services will not start until Google Play Services are updated", but there was absolutely no way to update it. So, I made the mistake of trying to install the latest Cyanogen Mod 12 NIGHTLY release, and now nothing works.
Here's what's happening right now:
Can't access recovery mode
Can't access bootloader
If I let it boot, it's an endless booting symbol
I CAN access download mode
Can anybody provide me with some insight or instructions on how I can recover this? Thank you!

Flash a stock rom via odin and start over.

CM7 Help

I flashed JTs nightly CM7 build number 14 yesterday, first time flashing CM7 and so I am just wondering if I did something wrong because I cannot get the android market. I followed the steps in the wiki found here but when I flash the cm_fascinatemtd_full-14.zip it powers the phone on directly, as in I go straight to my home screen and I never have gotten to flash GAPPS. So I have tried rebooting into CWM and then flashing GAPPS, installing it from ROM Manager and also reflashing CM7 from ROM Manager now I know there is a method in ROM manager but I need ROM manager PRemium to download CM7 nightlies. Is the easiest way to get the market and all subsequent GAPPS by going back to stock (ODIN to DL09 to ED05) then rooting and then buying ROM manager or did I miss something?
I have also tried sideloading the market but it never opens up, it shows a white screen then jumps to the most recent thing I had open
You should have setup screen (google sign in with android logo) when booting from CWM after flashing CM7 and gapps.
I would flash CM7 and gapp on CWM not on rom manager.(Wiping data/dalvik/cache)
Once you sign in for google account, you will be asked what google apps must be installed, and then market will be opened for installing the selected one.
I don't know exactly why, but once I missed that sign in chance (just skip), I haven't had any second chance anymore for installing gapps although I reflashed it again. Same as you've seen.

Are you sure you are booting into CWM via the Power Menu in CM7 and NOT by the 3 finger method??
This is very important, in order to get to the "right" CWM... Remember, once you are on CM7 or Vanilla GB, ONLY use the Power Menu option to go to CWM. (Or you can use ADB Reboot recovery too.)
Are you flashing CM7 AFTER you flash gapps? You should only flash gapps after you flash cm7, not the other way around. I second Neozen on making sure you're using the 'good' cwm.

[Q] CM10.1 Nightly's stuck on boot animation

I've been running the Cyanogen Mod 10.1 nightly's and yesterday my tablet crashed and rebooted but would not go past the boot animation. I tried restarting it many time but it only boots to the animation. I booted into bootloader mode and wipted everything and tried installing an older nightly and the wingray gapps. It still is stuck not booting up only showing the spinning boot animation. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Is there a way to update to a working rom though odin? I can't figure out how to do that.
Guys I installed the latest nightly, except for the keyboard problem, the resolution seems to be wrong: the writing in fact are blurred. is it a known problem?

Yes, you can use odin to flash a rom, but it must be a stock rom, after which you will need to root your device again, install CWM recovery and then flash the nightly again. To use odin, you will need to put the device in download mode connect to the pc after activating odin and when the device is recognised (one of the boxes will light up in yellow) then put the extracted firmware in PDA of odin and click start. If successful, a green PASS will show in odin. Disconnect the device and wait for the device to boot up. You can try ICS 4.0.4 which is commonly available in Samsmobile.

Mine just died too. Went back to stock 4.0.4

For the bootloop, you can try to Wipe Cache/Dalvik.
But honestly, every new update that is pushed out, it's harder for our tabs to manage. So unstable to keep it up-to-date with every version, haha.
Thanks! I'll be going back to stock when I return home from work. Does anyone know where I can get CM 9 or 10 nightlies or stable ROM?

Need recovery help

Hey guys, I dug out my old i605 the other day and wanted to update to the latest cm nightly for the device. Not realizing I was about to do something wrong, I downloaded an app called Flashify and installed the latest cm recovery through the app. Well this made my device boot loop. So now, I need to flash a working recovery to my device to fix it. After googling for a bit, I learned that I need Odin to do so. So I am now using Odin v3.10.7. But, I cannot get any recovery tars I've found to flash. They all come back as failed. I'm at a loss here and hope someone knows how to get this thing back up and running.
My PC is on Windows 10 and I do have the latest Samsung drivers installed. On my Note 2 in download mode, it says my current binary is Samsung Official and my system status is custom. What I do not know is what recovery and firmware my i605 was on previously.
Thanks guys
EDIT: I guess what I'd really like to do is get the device back to stock rooted.
Edit 2: Fixed the problem. Uninstalled the Samsung drivers and reinstalled them and changed to Odin 3.07. Ended up restoring the device with the unlocked bootloader restore here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2040264

[CM 13] Recovery didn't work, after trying to update phone too!

When I updated Cyanogenmod to CM13 my recovery stopped working (I turned on "update recovery with system"). I didn't can apply ANY updates from SD card and from PHONE STORAGE too.
To fix it I tried to update CM to 13 from 10-02-2016 to 13-02-2016. But... It didnt ANYTHING happened! It was only black screen. But now I can't turn on my phone! Recovery mode is not turning on too! I have only not working phone with not working recovery when it will turn on too!
I need my phone tomorrow, please, HELP ME! What can I do?!
Recovery: CM13 recovery.
It is not bootloop, I have:
BLACK SCREEN
After Samsung logo.
It is very important, does somebody know what to do?
I have new news:
After turning on I have samsung logo and for about one second Updating System message! Without loading bar . After it of course black screen!
I didn't do any backups of my phone, but I can wipe all data, but I NEED WORKING PHONE!
@tom790
Try flashing this kernel I attached with odin. Next try rebooting to recovery. If you get a working TWRP recovery, then flash the rom you want to use as normal. Please read this guide if you want to use CM13 and avoid common issues.
Same problem here after trying to update to the newest nightly (also with "update recovery with system" on in developer settings) I assume that this function isn't working correctly. The only alternative is as mentioned above - flash kernel+recovery with Odin and make changes afterwards.
I have same problem. I tried to install this kernel above with ODIN but no luck, after sucessful flash logo and black screen. Any other advice or tips? Is there any chance to recover some data from internal card?
And exactly the same issue here. Will try the workaround from the first answer by noppy22.
OK, succeeded. I used ODIN with the kernel tar file from noppy22, put the S2 into download mode (that was still possible, recovery mode couldn't be accessed), flashed the kernel. Phone rebooted automatically into recovery and started (continued?!) with the installation of CM 13.0. And here I realize the issue. The OTA was the nightly of CM 13.0 which I inadvertently chose to be flashed over the running CM 12.1. Bad idea!
Caveats: I see the yellow triangle now which didn't show up before. No problem for me - it's more than 4.5 years old. And there is still the error that "Google play service was terminated" which showed before I triggered the OTA update of CM 12.1.

Gt-i9100 stuck on startup logo

Hello everyone,
I own a samsung galaxy s2 gt-i9100 I've been using it for a long time. A few days ago i installed cynogenmod 13 marshmallow on it but faced some severe issues like dialler problems, battery drain, google play services not working. So, i switched it back to my previous rom i.e. cm 12.1 lollipop but my old twrp recovery got replaced by cynogenmod default recovery. Now some people who may have used it know that its very basic and does not has backup, restore, has bugs, does not flashes some zips or files that i wanted so i tried to replace it with twrp/cwm through rashr, flashify, rom manager, etc. But none of it worked, whenever I'd boot after flashing the twrp/cwm recovery it'll go back to the default cynogenmod recovery. Now, me not knowing what im doing stupidly downloaded mobile odin lite app then i downloaded the cwm kernel recovery kitkat compatible and installed via mobile odin lite. After that it got screwed, it won't just startup it'll just start and go into recovery i mean continuously! It was annoying, then i read an article on a forum to download any cm nightly or stable mod and flash it but i did a little bit of tweak of removing the recovery boot img file with twrp to get preinstalled twrp recovery but i gotta admit it was the last mistake possible. Now i sit here, with a bricked phone in my hand which is looping continuously only on the samsung logo. If anyone out there can assist me correctly it'll be a life saver for me. Thanks for reading this and please reply with a solution asap. Please! Im in danger!
can you get into download mode?
if yes you can download a stock firmware and flash but you will have to hope it will work, otherwise you will get stuck on nand write start which means the nand is stuffed/corrupted and then basically only a motherboard replacement will do the job, or you can try using another computer, reinstall usb drivers..
can you get into recovery mode?
if you can, you can flash a rom
The 'nand stuffed' assumption is a last resort, tried everything and nothing works assumption. There is *plenty* to try before assuming that the nand is 'stuffed'......
It sounds like (from your description) that you may have rendered recovery useless and inaccessible.
I've a feeling what you need to do is to go into download mode and Odin flash a firmware.
Even if it doesn't boot, you should have a recovery that you can flash PhilZ recovery from and then use that to flash a custom rom. Initially, I'd stay away from the MM builds and instead flash something KK or LP based as they're less 'volatile' and have a higher degree of stability than the MM roms.
