Hello! I recently rooted with kingroot to try and change my boot animation. I downloaded a Gamecube bootanimation from reddit, and I also have the Gamecube mp3 soundfile. I am using an S4 with lollipop. I followed all of the instructions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2215367 and still haven't been able to change the animation. I have no recovery. The samsung binary bootanimation file got deleted (by me) also. So I have zero boot animation. Just a samsung logo.
I don't really care about the samsung bootanimation, so it's recovery is pointless. I want to be able to boot my phone with custom sounds and animations from the system\media folder, instead of samsung's system\bin folder.
As a new rooted user, I must say that I love the control I have over my startup, and am loving the extended battery life and security. Thanks for your help!!

Hi, I'm new to the S2 and recently used a Hero, and custom rom'd on that.
I'm completely confused about the bootscreen on my S2
But I wanted to know if there was anyway I could change bootscreen
i.e. push a zip to system/media etc?
Thanks
Do you mean boot animation, or boot logo?
The animation or the img before the animation?
If its the logo look in /mnt/.lfs there will be a file called logo.jpg
Alternatively if that location doesn't exist for you, follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136699
If you meant the animation, drop the bootanimation.zip in /system/media
Yeah, that's what I meant, thanks
I installed a couple of custom roms that have custom boot animations and they display beautifully. However I decided to go with clean rom which has the stock bootanimation and I've been trying to change it with a custom one but it never changes. I used the root explorer method, doesnt work, I downloaded one of those utilities on the market to change bootanimation, when I hit preview current boot animation it display my custom one, but when I reboot or even re-import the custom one and reboot it displays the stock one.
I searched but I cant find an answer. Help please? How is it even reading the stock animation with the custom file replacing it?
EDIT: I thought to mention I am using a P7510 16GB

Dear rdlegy,
You can not simply change your boot logo. It has been placed there by the developer of your Custom ROM.
It can only be replaced by modifying the kernel.img or boot.img of your device.
Regards, Neptune
You can easily replace the boot animation by moving a new bootanimation.zip to /system/media and overwrite the old one. Change permissions to RW-R-R after you've moved it, or else you'll get a bootloop. If you're not sure how to do it, head over here where you can download a new one and get some more help. If you want the stock animation back, your best bet would be to go to your device section and ask if anyone can upload bootanimation.zip for you.

Hey all,2 year newbie here, okay so my Rooted ,(thanks Framaroot dev!) deoexed VM Samsung Galaxy Ring has a boot animation issue that I cannot fix after trying so many things and literally combing the web.I tried installing a Custom Boot Animation with Rom Toolbox and now all I have is a black screen with the VM music..Factory reset, and still the same, even tried installing a good zip file, with full rw perm in /system/media,and nothing,i read that samsung uses a qnp file for their boot ani,so I read to one, delete samsungbootloop and another samsung boot file (cant remember what the other one was),put them back, then read to change zip file to a qnp, didnt work,Even after installing CWM recovery and flashing a deoexed rom still nothing..Am I missing a file that helps load it? Please help!!!!..driving me crazy!!
So, I used a flashable zip to flash a custom boot animation to my stock rom SM-T230 Samsung Galaxy Tab 4. The only things I've done are rooting, flashing Xposed and using LiveBoot to check how my boot works. The boot ani works with shutdown, but not boot up, and yes, I use LiveBoot Pro version, so I should be able to see my boot ani with LiveBoot. The last person said something about adding .bak to my stock ani, but with flashable zip, it just replaces my stock, so...
TL;DR: Whenever I boot, the ani does not show, and then proceeds with a black screen until I boot. When I shutdown, the animation works fine.
