Hi guys, so i got a new HTC Desire 826 and it has come with DU battery saver, AVG and a few other apps preinstalled and i know usually its not supposed to and when i try to find a way to uninstall, the uninstall icon is grayed out, any help as to how i can get these removed?
Thanks in advance.
You can always disable them as they appear to be built into the system. If you have root you can always google how to remove system apps and go from there.

Just curious, if you disable then restarting the phone doesn't enable them right? But if you force stop them then restarting the phone would enable them? Am i correct or i got it mixed up?

You are correct. Disabling is until either you reenable them or factory reset and force stop is until something wakes them back up(launcher, framework or other app).

First of all, I have a Samsung Epic 4G Touch running on Starburst Rom...
If I disable an app that runs in the background since when I boot the phone up, lets say market or ap mobile, what actually happens? I mean, does it really close the app? The reason I ask is because I was using Optimize Toolbox (great app) until they changed the language to chinese, and that would disable some startup apps and save battery life. I noticed that after not using the program I was getting horrible bat life compared to when I had it, so i downloaded a couple of alternatives to disable startup apps and wipe cache... So, will disableing apps that run in the background also help me get greater batterylife? or will they get closed and automatically start up while the phone is running?
Disabling the apps from launching at startup will save battery life (eventually) since they will not run automatically (they won't start at all until you start them manually) and use up memory. This can have a bad effect since some of these processes are necessary for the system to run correctly, and if you stop them, the system will become unstable and crash.

im not trying to disable the type that the system comes with, im trying to disable the ones that are installed by me... also, if i disable them in startup, will they come back on their own or until i try and use them?

Some will (especially the ones with many background processes), and some won't.

Yes, it will have problems. Whatever settings you have set in it won't be applied until you manually start it. Also, I would not recommend stopping it from starting. It is not recommended to not allow that app to start automatically (since it deals with the system's audio settings).

You can try "autostart" to disable the app from auto starting its self every boot.
Accidentally sent from my Google Nexus S using XDA Premium
Is their way to kill the stupid Verizon bloatware off of the Rezound. I just got the new I.C.S. O.T.A.. Every time Itry to delete all of the stock apps Verizon puts on the phone it will only allow me to uninstall the updates. then a few hours later the phone updates them again.
How do i get rid of them??????
You can only disable them unless you are rooted. This will remove them from the app drawer, and at the bottom of the app list in settings. Out of sight, out of mind.
Root and delete the APK.
disable them suing settings -> application. and turn off option in play store to automatically update apps.

And also prevents them from running in the background and being used at all. It's just like freezing them with Titanium Backup; the .apk is there, but its as good as gone.
you can disable them by not updating the app and just diable it in the app management

If they are updated you have to uninstall the update first then disable them. The only Verizon bloatware app that I found can't be disabled this way is visual voice mail.

Root and run Neo's Simplistic Rom. Very stock feel without the extra crap.
As my title says, the disable device administrator option is greyed out. I'm trying to temporarily uninstall Greenify while I investigate an overheating related issue on my Sprint Galaxy Nexus. I don't have any issues with Greenify other than this but, I assume that I'm missing some setting in Greenify itself that causes me not to be able to disable the Greenify Automator device administrator.
Thanks for any help I can get with this issue.
I know it's been over 2 years, but did you find away past this? I have the same grayed out deactivate button on an app I want to remove. Thanks

Use the Settings in Greenify and go to Troubleshooting and click "Device-admn privilege/uninstall". It will be deactivated from Device Admn and you can uninstall then. The other option is to use TiBU, if you use it, to uninstall Greenify.

Is there a way to disable this knox pin when you reboot your phone?
Also i heard there is a feature that can auto reboot your phone weekly is this true?
The Knox pin is a security feature that you enabled. You can disable it by simply disabling the option of requiring a Knox pin on boot up, basically disabling encryption mode. Rebooting your phone weekly can be done by a app in the Google play store, just search auto reboot. If you got to auto reboot your phone because you want that snappy feeling again then i recommend just putting a bunch of your non system or non essential apps in auto sleep mode, for these apps are the stuff slowing your phone down. I also recommend using a package disabler to disable non essential system apps as well to free up some extra resource cycles. Although be careful of what u are disabling cause u can cause a boot loop if you mess with the wrong packages. Best of luck cheers.

It shouldn't be a problem. Hard to find what's going on since you didn't disable any important service or apk.
You don't receive message from whatsapp instant after screen goes off or it takes a few minutes to delay message?

Your device is entering Doze mode and all notifications sleeps until doze opens a quick maintenance windows to do all the dammed work. Or everything is OK and you are not waiting enough time to open maintenance window to receive messages, or you have installed any battery optimization software that messed up with doze configuration.
Don't know, just a guess.

No optimization apps installed.
I think its like your first guess.
But i dont know why doze blocks notifications, on my other phones all notifications arrived in nearly realtime.

This happens to me, I've seen several people with this problem
Looks like it only happens when on wifi
On mobile data all messages arrive in real time
I had the same issue as I was using a modded WhatsApp.
You need root to resolve it (If you restored Data from an older modded version).
Check Here for details

These are the two files that needs to be deleted.
data/data/com.fmwhatsapp/shared_prefs/com.google.android.gms.appid.xml
data/data/com.fmwhatsapp/no_backup/com.google.android.gms.appid
Afterwards, Clear Google Play Service Data / cache and reboot the phone.
Your problem will be sorted.
