Sound Notifications - how to? - Asus ZenWatch 2

Hi,
I have waited until the 1.4 update so that the Speaker would be activated. This now works very well for the phone and media playback, but I cannot find a way to enable sound notifications (the vibration is so low as to be almost not present). I asked ASUS technical support and got this reply:
"My name is Matthew and I will try my best to assist you issue.
Please feel free to rate our service according to the solution provided in the questionnaire that will be sent to you shortly after our reply to your inquiry.
Concerning your message about the ASUS Zenwatch 2 (WI501Q):
In this case what I can recommend is that you check the top swipe menu in Intreruptions, if it has the intreruptions stopped or if you can activate them, also to check the settings of the device to check if you can activate audible allerts. Also to check in the manual of the phone for more help with teh settings of the Zebwatch."
This was not much help, so when I asked for clarification, got this even more useless response:
"In this case if you are no longer able to find this setting and there is no option for the allerts, it is likely that the Android update disabled this option. Unfortunately there is no option of rolling back the Android updates from you Zenwatch."
They have no responded further.
Can anyone help with this as I could easily have missed a setting?
Thanks, Richard

There is no way to have sounds for notifications for now.

[App] Root Call Blocker needs SE testers

Hello guys, im the developer of Root Call Blocker, an advanced call and SMS blocking app for rooted phones.
The app's home is here at XDA:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1051274
We have had multiple reports that blocking is not working sometimes on SE phones, so we need some nice people to do some testing.
You can use the Groups function of the Lite version to do the testing - it gives you almost everything youd want from the app anyway.
Please post comments here, but also use the "Write to us" dialog in settings.
Come on xda people! I really need some feedback please...
Ok. Let's try it. ;-)
Well, when adding phone in black list, Name fild is out of screen. Incoming calls fully blocked, without half ring. I continue testing ...
Sent from my X10mini using Tapatalk
Yep... thats a known issue on very small screens...
I think it was fixed, no?
Enjoy... and remember, an update is always just around the corner!
Could you guys please test the following behavior for me:
1. How the app behaves when a blocked number attempts to connect during call waiting
2. How a blocked caller is handled when "Dont answer" is set as the reject method and you are currently on the phone and have not enabled blocked call vibrate notifications within the app itself
Dont forget to send logs with descriptions as well.
Come on people, i really need some feedback on this!
Nothing to report then?
Nothing here - its working perfectly!
Anyone having trouble at this resolution?
Any problems to report?
Guys hows that dialog scroller?
Guys, an update has been rolled out. It contains an important new workaround thast needs to be tested.
It may help those people who have data issues, especially on LTE enabled phones sometimes.
Please help me test this by installing the app, rebooting and waiting for data to return with the screen on. Please wait 3 minutes at least before sending logs via "Write to developer" in the app.
Dont forget to include a description. Thanks!
Working perfectly for me! Thanks, this is absolutely top class.
Do data issues then?
Any issues to report?
Is anyone seeing an issue with notifications?
Also, do you guys have any problems understanding how to block hidden numbers?
Thanks in advance!
Any issues or suggestions?
let me try it

Is it possible to give suggestions to Samsung/Google?

Hi, as one of my friends phone was about to get stolen when we were out in town a few days ago, I wanted some tracking and anti-theft software on my GS2. I found out how the pre-installed software from Samsung works (go to http://www.samsungdive.com/DiveMain.do and register your phone, and then enable tracking under the phone's security settings). But it is a very poor anti-theft solution if you ask me, even thou it works just as well as any solution on the market. First of all, if GPS is disabled and you try to track your phone using the Samsung website, it will ask you "do you want to enable GPS?"..that's just plain stupid and I don't see why it can't force it to start. Second of all, if my phone got stolen I would expect it to get reset to factory settings at some point. In order to avoid this, the phone should ask for the same pincode it ask for when you enable/disable tracking. That way it should always be possible to find the phone if it ever got stolen. I figured it was a simple yet good idea and wanted to feature request it for Android, but I couldn't find any information on where you can do so. Do any of you guys know? Or do any of you developers talk to the Android developers or do they roam in a certain part of the XDA forum?

Please try to contact Samsung/Google via the official contact/support email addresses first.
As they are using help desk systems, each email to those addresses become documented as a request or ticket and will be worked through in some way.
Every other contact (via personal network or a free/internet forum) is "in-official" and could lead into a loss of your input.
Good luck !

It doesn't on my phone. It remotely turns on GPS automatically with no prompt on the phone.

Haptic feedback broken?

Hey all.
I've recently noticed that none of my keyboards vibrate when I press a key. Along with that, the stock Sony KB doesn't seem to have the option to turn it on/off in the settings.
Did Sony disable vibration in the 3.2.1 update or is my Tablet borked?
Sent from my GT-I9100
No replies?
Could someone at least test their keyboard vibration and say if it works or not?
Sent from my GT-I9100
Mine doesnt work but i cant be sure it ever has.
Mine doesn't vibrate either, As far as I remember I don't think it ever did.
It's just not build into the tablet.
Thanks for the replies.
I could have sworn the keyboard used to vibrate but I guess not. Puts my mind at ease
Sent from my GT-I9100
It has never and never will vibrate.
Guys I distinctly recall haptic working on the demo tablet in Singapore (Bugis Junction Sony Store). It's not working on my tab currently. I did however update the firmware immediately after purchase sony that could be it?...
no vibration here. I do not thonk there is one…
haptic feedback definitely felt first and last time

I posted this issue on the Sony community thread today:
"Vibration mode on the non-3G Sony Tablet S (SGPT111GB)
Topic started on 10-Jan-2012 23:27
in Sony Tablet
I discovered something today, Sony Tablet S (SGPT111GB) which is a non-3G version has the ability to vibrate in applications that can use this option.
I was looking for a alternative to the built-in TV remote control app and I came across "BlueIR" in the android market (free). unfortunately it's not suitable for me in the UK but whilst playing with the pre-installed virgin media cable box profile low and behold each time I pressed any of the software remote control buttons, anywhere onscreen, I received a vibrate/haptic feedback confirmation which I checked in the options was available.
The strange thing is though once I played with it a little more vibration/haptic stopped and I couldn't get it back again or test it in the settings options.
Anyway just wanted to share and to see if anybody else got this functionality working in their Sony tablet S, non-3G obviously, as I was unaware this tablet had this functionality?"
Still early days for an answer on the Sony community forum but as I'm waiting to see if anybody else is having this issue so when I read this post on this thread I thought it best that chime in here.
UPDATE:
having slept on this issue I decided to uninstall "BlueIR" and reinstall it to see if I could replicate the haptic feedback but had no success so make of that what you will but I definitely have the functionality on the first install so we need to see if there is a haptic motor in the hardware of any of the Sony Tablet S models.
I'll have a check on Google for any of the tear down videos and report back.
UPDATE#2:
I've sent a e-mail to the developer of "BlueIR universal remote for android" to see if he can shed any light on this functionality which I of course will update here if and when I get a reply.
trouble finding "teardown reviews" that don't repeat Tech Republic
Most of the blogging sites Google brings up seem to be just repeating the teardown on Tech Republic.com website so I've left a question with "Bill Detwiler , Head Technology Editor of TechRepublic", but as it was September 2011 when the teardown was done we will have to see if the article is still being monitored.
Anyone else got suggestions?

[APP] Call Master - Need some X2 testers please!

Hi everyone! Thank you for your help in getting CM up to a flawless standard! We are now almost ready to deploy CM 1.5 - it will include MMS blocking, Class0 auto replies and many other new and very cool features.
We need your help now to iron out any remaining bugs before we embark on a daemon rebuild. Please download the app from the market and get testing! Here are the issues we want to address specifically:
- If you have problems regaining 3G after the telephony restart. This should have been fixed. If not, please try "Slow radio restart" in Debugging and report your results!
- Issues moving list priorities on Light or Dark theme. Again, if you have issues, please switch to the other theme, try again and then report back.
- Notification color schemes. We are interested if the new notifications comply with the majority of frameworks.
Thank you in advance for all your great work, this ultra-awesome app is as much a child of yours as it is of ours

This is a fully functional application. However, after a 24 hour demo period it will start nagging you to buy the Key, which will remove all nag
screens and timeouts from the interface. The nag screens are pretty light though, so users who dont want to spend can live with them.
Screens - VIEW GALLERY
Installed on my DX2 running Eclipse 2.0.2
No data return after restarting telephony.
No data or cell service after restarting radio, had to restart my phone to get them back.
However, second time around, data turned back on when I clicked send to submit the error report.
Hope that helps.
Did you try to just open the browser?
So, has anyone had a chance to do some testing?
Any issues to report with 1.2?
Seems to work well... A few issues.. I kept getting mega spammed by a text message company... Kept popping up I turned off persistent and event notification and it still shows in status bar.? Also keeps asking me to buy now... Are you officially out of beta? Thanks
Yes the beta ended two months ago. Now you get 24 hours, then it will nag you to buy. All the functionality is still there though.
Sent from my GT-P7500 using xda premium
Ok basically randomly it stops allowing incoming text and I have to disable.. Then eventually they all come in at once.. I can send outgoing.. Tested this with friends with Verizon.. Att. Sprint... Very annoying.. Not sure if anyone has similar experience.. Tested and repeated.. Very consistent problem... Rooted but on Stock gingerbread
Todays release (1.2.3) should finally fix this rare issue. Let me know if it works please!
Ok I will update and report back.
Did you perform a clean install as advised?
Updated OP - impressions please!!!
I tried this out a month or two ago. I'm on CM7DX2 with some custom mods. I was looking for a call blocking app, the one I had stopped working so I started searching for a new one.
The biggest problem I had with this app was when I was on a call and another blocked call came in, it would disconnect BOTH calls. Has this been addressed or fixed yet? Since it seems to answer the blocked call to hang up on it, it seems there is no way around it. Thanks!
Ciao!

Right now, kill isn't doing anything. I block the incoming number and set up the action list to kill. When I'm not on the phone, the incoming call rings about 6 times, then the phone rings and the incoming call is never killed. This was part of the issue I had with it the first time as well. When I "reject" the call, that works, but then when I am on a call and that rejected number calls, it disconnects BOTH calls. Do you have an online manual somewhere for this? That would help tremendously. Thanks.

Want to install a custom dialer on Pixel 4A

Hello guys.
I have been using 4A for about 6 months now. My calling is heavy due to nature of my work. However, I am really disappointed by the dialer which 4A comes with due to following reasons-
1. No unlimited call logs which is a very big bummer. It's such a basic thing any phone maker must provide.
2. Smart search from dialer is as bad as it can be. I'm coming from a Xiaomi phone and Google should really learn a few things how to make a dialer app. The search is billion times better in the latter.
3. Lack of call recording which I can live with but is desirable.
Basically I'm asking if I can install any third party dialer (preferably MiUI) ? I'm ready to root if it's needed.
Please help me. I'm on the verge of going back to my MIUI phone as my main phone just because of this crappy dialer.
PS: I can't go custom ROM way because I don't want to lose stock camera's quality.
Thanks

Try using TruePhone ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hb.dialer.free ). I have call recording and I have never came to a situation where call log was too short - I have checked my favorite contact and I have log since I installed it.
P. S. U have root on my phone, but I am not convinced if it is needed. Try it as IMHO is the best dialer with tons on customization.

Hi,
Can you elaborate on these two?
I ask because if I click the middle "Recents" button at the bottom, the call log is very limited. But if I then click the three dot button in the top right and select "Call History", it will go back very far in time.
Also, what problems are you having with the smart search? Can you mention a couple of examples?

I did check the history and surprisingly found out today that my call records are only till 6th of April from today and then directly to Oct 2020. Don't know how is that possible, but this is what I found.
I'll explain my problem to you.
When I bought this phone, I had imported around 10k call logs records but when I used to check history of numbers I dial frequently, I came to know it's not storing unlimited history. Like the person whom I have called 20 times has only 2 entries in the log.
Until today I didn't know that history between 20 Oct 2020 to April 5, 2021 is missing. I don't have a sane explanation for this.
Regarding smart search, see following scenarios:
It doesn't search if I type keywords which are between the names. Eg name is John, if I type 646, it should show but it doesn't. It always search with first letter only, be it name or surname.
Second case.
I have a name saved called Prathmesh, my dialer always fails to show it. I dial 77284, it shows other relevant search results but not this and when I type next digit, no results at all. In the frequent updates of Google dialer phone app, after one particular update, it started searching but after next update again stopped. This is one example, I can give more.
Third case.
It doesn't search from unsaved numbers. Suppose I vaguely remember I had received a call from a number which had 5555 at last but couldn't exactly remember, there is no way I could find using Google dialer.

Thanks for app suggestion buddy.
It solved almost all of my problems.
Now I can search the way I want, can record calls, and possibly can store unlimited logs.
Thanks a ton again.

I was happy with the app but now call recording isn't working.
I have been using drupe dialer (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.drupe.app&hl=en_US&gl=US) for many years to address exactly the problems that you have mentioned. You can give it a try. But here also, the inbuilt call recorder is not working with Pixel 4a. It used to work with my older Oneplus X.
