I recently encrypted my rooted v10 all is ok until I go to recovery I use TWRP, it then asks for my password but does not accept it. Anyone know something on this?
What version of TWRP are you using? I know that the earlier versions did not support encryption. I'm not sure about TWRP 3.0, as I do not encrypt my phones. More info here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...icial-twrp-t3239740/post64119608#post64119608

I unlocked and rooted my AT&T HTC One with the stock AT&T 4.3 image, installed TWRP 2.6.3.3 and rebooted into recovery. Due to restrictions from my company, I am required to have the partition encrypted. When I boot into TWRP, I enter the same password I use to decrypt the phone when I boot it from off. However, TWRP fails to accept the password and will not let me access the file system.
I have also tried using flashing the recovery to CWM 6.0.4.3 and using that only to have the same issue.
Ideally, I would like to be able to flash patches to remove both the AT&T bloatware and the 'Dial 611' check for tethering.
I have tried a few proposed solutions from XDA to the issue but still cannot get around it. If any has had success in getting around it, can you please post steps of what you did here for the sake of clarity?
Thank you!

I have the same issues. Did you find a solution?
I did not. I eventually wound up doing a reset of all data the phone, applied the ROM image I wanted and added things back.
i only found this one: https://github.com/TeamWin/Team-Win-Recovery-Project/issues/247
and then i changed the Password with cryptfs.
But it doesn't work for me......
I have the same issue here... =\

I was just searching for the same issue, and I stumbled upon that thread as well. Except there's now an additional post from mid-February with more details:

Looks like HTC doesn't use the same encryption scheme as stock Android, but rather uses some specific HTC algorithm, so TWRP doesn't support it because it would be too much work to do so. Dissapointing, but also understandable. I've only just encrypted my device (in order to be able to check my Exchange email for work), and I didn't think about the TWRP no longer being able to access my data partition or the internal sdcard... Reading through some of the more recent comments, though, it's still possible future releases of TWRP (2.7+) may resolve the issue, though I just tried the most recent release (2.7.0.0) with no luck.
I have the same issue. I tried the most recent TWRP as of this writing, 2.7.1.1, and it still doesn't decrypt on my HTC One.
I've had this issue on mine as well. Simply decrypt storage within settings. Reboot in TWRP, flash patch, re-encrypt. Pain in the a$$ but it works for me.

How do you mean "simply decrypt storage within settings" ?

Go into settings and disable encryption within the main android OS. Reboot into recovery. Flash whatever you need. Reboot back into OS. Re enable encryption. Pain but it worked.
I bought an LG G5 H850 3 months ago, and following the tutorial of this forum I unlocked, installed TWR and rooted the device without problems... I kept the TWR boot after this.
Note: I configured my phone to have a pattern code when boot in security options
Yesterday I received the OTA (I think it is called that) Android Update to Nouget from the inbuild update service...
I didn't know if I could install it or not in my rooted phone, but I tried...
I download the 1.6GB update, and try to install it. But instead of upgrading it booted to the TWR and asked for a pattern. I tried mine, but it said it "couldn't decrypt the data" so I think it is not THAT pattern.
After that I just cancel, and ask me to enable or not write access. Whatever option I choose, it just return me to TWR main menu, where I can just reboot and return to my 6.x Android... (not upgraded)
I tried also disabling the pattern or chaging to password unlock, but it only changed the pattern question in the TWR to a password question (again, no luck bypssing it with my new password)
As you can guess, I have no much idea about Android and TWR... But I think I must be something terribly wrong here... I don't remember having encrypt the data or decrypting it before.
Is it possible to upgrade to Nouget with the OTA upgrade in a rooted H850 with TWR? If not, is there any way to upgrade to the new Android version without wiping my data? (and if possible without losing root?)
Android is encrypted by default since Marshmallow or even Lollipop. You can turn off the encryption by wiping the data in TWRP (note: it will erase all the data from your internal storage, essentially making it a factory reset). If you want to just update to Nougat use LG UP to flash the KDZ (note: use upgrade mode). Relevant guides are available on the forum.
Sidenote: check your spelling. :V It's TWRP and Nougat, not TWR and Nouget.

Upgrade mode doesn't. Note that there's always a chance that something will go wrong, so I'd recommend a backup.

Thanks!. I know, I always do a backup.
Last question, do I lose TWRP or root with the LG UP? If so, is there a method for rooting it again with Nougat?

You'll most likely lose both. You can install recovery and root normally after upgrading.
Hi, I am sorry to have to ask in a new thread but I have searched through XDA and other sites for info. I am currently running TWRP 3.1.1-0 and I have an encrypted data partition (I needed to encrypt for an MDM I'm using). Ever since then I've been unable to flash things like Magisk and looking at the script, it tries to do something on the data partition which fails.
I do have a PIN set up for encryption and I am never prompted at TWRP start time for PIN entry. Whereas I do get prompted on another device in the same scenario (a Nexus 7 2013 LTE). I have tried changing to password instead but I am still never prompted. I'm about to give up and reformat data and just give up on using an MDM in this way on this device. But I'd swear there is a way to get this working. So I'd like to know if someone has a 3.2.1 version of TWRP (3.1.1 is the latest I can find anywhere) and if this would help. Otherwise is there a way to force TWRP to prompt for a password/PIN when starting up and trying to read data?
Hello every one,i am trying to root my phone. The flashing method with twrp is not an option as it ask for password to decrypt data.
So i am trying the method with magisk manager, but although i have internet connection, it does not shiw the install button.
Has every one the same problem?or at least the patched boot image?
I have the latest rom installed from official Xiaomi site
You can't flash magisk if you are not rooted. I don't use encryption but do know you have to have the correct recovery to access your encrypted data. Look in the threads about twrp pie recovery.

Sorry I used orange fox recovery and no clue if it works with pie encryption. FYI there are 3 different display panels used on the mi 8 lite. 2 of the three panels are fully supported but sadly it seems like you have the one that is not. There are a few threads here talking about twrp/encryption/touchscreen and I believe one of them found a solution. Yet again I don't use encryption so I have only glanced at these threads and dont remember what the solution is.
Have you tried any of the other recoveries based on twrp? Orange fox, batik or perp? You might have to go to 4pda forum to find them.

Thanks a lot i will try this, but what do you mean saying you are not using encryption. I don't use encryption because i choose it, i also try removing pin password and finger print but results was the same
Have you a link or can you post the zip of orange fox here?link at pda does not work
Edit:found link and now trying it
Edit2: Still says data is encrypted, how can i remove enctyption?
Edit3: As i understand, encryption has nothing to do with recovery, but is something Rom does
so is anything i can do to root device without to wipe data?
If anyone had a patched image that i could install through adb, everything would be easy
do i lose data and have to reinstall everything?
yea i think all the data is resetted or something. And you need to reinstall all apps also

No you will not lose ur data if you are encrypted as PE is by default. It needs PE Recovery tho.
If you used DFE to stay decrypted and in TWRP then you must NOT use OTA and manually update the ROM everytime along with DFE zip so you will not face bootloops.
If you have any other question let me know.

If you still have TWRP try to reboot to recovery. If you see random names on folders and files then you are encrypted.
Or simply go to setting in Security and somewhere says if your device is encrypted or not.
TWRP can't decrypt A12 encrypted ROMs yet, thats why u either need to decrypt if u want to stay with TWRP and manually update the ROM always along with DFE -and never use OTA- or use the Recovery that each ROM provides (if they are encrypted by default) which can handle OTA but you lose many abilities that TWRP have.
If you are stable user of a certain ROM, I recommend you to stay encrypted and use the recovery they provide to use OTA updates.
If you change ROMs like your shirts and trying them out, then you maybe need to consider to stay decrypted and use DFE always and never use OTA.

ah okay, TWRP doesn't show me in the settings if i am encrypted or not but when i start TWRP, i have to type in my password and it says among other things "data successfully decrypted". And if i skip the password then all files are randomly named. So i guess i am encrypted.
I am a stable PE user but i am a bit confused now. If i make the OTA update what TWRP abilities am i losing?
edit: i updated now, TWRP doesn't seem different but i lost root. Reinstalling Magisk doesn't work for some reason.

You can check if you are encrypted or not at security section in Settings inside the ROM.
If you replace TWRP with PE recovery for example you miss some settings that TWRP had, but that's all. You don't need these if you are stable and casual user of PE.
