HTC M8 won't start up after rooting - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
First of all, I am a new member here. Hopefully "ROM Developer Education" is a proper section for this thread and if it is not, please redirect me to right forum
So, I tried to root my M8 following this (htconeroot.com/htc-one-root/how-to-root-htc-one-m)tutorial. Everything was going fine until the last restart. My phone is frozen and shows the startup screen with HTC and Android logos. The only thing I can to is to restart it woth power + volume up buttons but the problem is still there. I tried to find a solution, but it seems I cannot do much without at least partly working Android. I am even unable to do anything with HTC tool (htc.com/us/support/rom-downloads.html), since it does not find the phone connected to the computer.
Is there anything I can do to make the phone work again?
Thanks for help

Having problems making fastboot recognize my hero

I'm a new Android user; Had my htc hero for a month now. with the help of this forum i was able to root it and flash a recovery image/MCR3/unlocked SPL/custom boot&splash screens.
Today, i wanted to change the splash screen again but i couldn't get fastboot to see my device. ie it just keeps < waiting for device > forever, even when when i do it as root. adb can see my hero fine, but not fastboot. I've searched the forum but couldn't find any working solution for this, so any help is appreciated.
I'm using ubuntu 9.10. Thanks
I tired again today, and it worked perfectly. I didn't change anything, so probably i was doing something wrong in the first place, i blame the drugs.
Mod please delete/close this thread.

[Q] htc titan won,t start up

A while ago I was looking for ways to install a custom rom to my HTC Titan (europian)
i have downloaded this file:
htcfanboys<dot>com/download/cotulla/?action=view&file=10777 (i,m not yet allowed to post links)
and accidentally clicked on 'romupdateutillity' (...1_spl025/titan) when my phone was connected in usb mode (I don,t know the right word for it but it was in the screen that you get when you start up with pressing [volume up]+[volume down]+[on/off].
at this point an installer immediatly starts and it starts to install the program on my phone.
I let the phone finish and form this point forward it wont start up, butt simply keep hanging in the white/green HTC screen.
I figured it could be smart to finish the installation while I was at it so I also runned 'DFT_HSPL_WP7SG1_INSTALL' in the 2_HSPL folder.
After this it still wouldn't start up.
I am a pretty upset at this moment and I wonder if there's anything I can still do to fix my telephone.
here's the information that I could get form the phone:
PI39110
HSPL2.5. 160015.3(137079)
eMMC SMS 15028MB,FA32
cotullaH(F:81,ID:1,V11,B:F8)
Radio-16.23.06.10
I don,t really know what it al means but this is the information it gives in the USB screen.
As you probably guessed: i,m fairly new to this kind of things. so if you would know an answer to this problem i,d appreciate a simple step-by-step procedure to get my phone up and running again.
i,m verry sorry for my bad vocubalary.
Guus
EDIT: the firmware that was installed before this happened was the latest (i taught 7.10....
I fixed it,

[Q] Please please help this noob out!

As previously stated I am a complete noob when it comes to flashing android devices.
Here is the problem I am faced with: I recently rooted, and unlocked the bootloader on my atrix hd (ATT)
Since then I tried installing cm10.1 multiple times on the secondary "Rom slots" within the bootloader, without any success. So I finally decided to go for it and install cm10.1 in the "stock rom" slot, Prior to doing this I did a back-up using Rom manager. Aand now I seemingly can't even boot into recovery mode, every time I restart my device it simply goes to the cyanogenmod blue ring thingy and gets stuck! (I have left it for 15-20 mins thinking it might be some kind of installation process..) But apparently it's not and i've broken my smartphone lol. Anyway i'd really appreciate some help fixing this problem, a step-by step guide would probably work best..!!! I have both windows 8 and Ubuntu installed on my pc, just saying..Don't know if it's relevant information and may simplify fixing my problem...Thanks in advance guys and girls
i've even tried holding down all three physical buttons and it simply takes me back to the same screen!!!
you could try something like this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2434726
.. and you are sure, that you can not enter the recovery menu??
official motorola guide, how to enter recovery menu:
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/60620/action/auth
.. adb could be your last possibility, if everything else fails, google it, you'll find many answer

[Q] HTC one M7 bricked??? Please HELPPP

Hello everybody,
I am new here, but after many searches I found out that this forum can be quite useful. Unfortunately I couldn't find the answer to my problem. Here you go, I start very well for my first thread:
I just got a HTC one M7 international version GSM from a friend, very nice phone and it was already rooted and had Trickdroid installed on it. I started to talk to my friend and he told me I should install KIt Kat on the phone... and from there it went all wrong...
I tried to install a KIT KAT rom I found online, it didn't work and the phone wouldn't start anymore, I would just have access to recovery mode (CWM is installed) and fastboot/bootloader. From there, the phone wasn't recognized anymore by my pc when connected to USB. I then used a mini USB cable to connect a USB key with different .zip file to load them to the phone.
After many attemps, one file finally worked (all the other would abort installation), it was insertcoin M7 kustomizer... I know I should have had reloaded Trickdroid 11.0.0 on it, but it was taking ages to download and went the fast way... which was a really bad decision I guess.
After the installation of insertcoin, the phone rebooted and... rebooted...and keeps rebooting to the HTC white screen (with the red warning: this build is for...)... it goes on and on...
Only thing I can do is hold the volume down key when it reboots and then it takes me to fastboot/bootloader. From there when I try to go to recovery mode it goes to recovery mode for half a second and reboot directly to the white HTC screen over and over again....
Also, USB device is not recognized (but strange, HTC sync manager starts even though it tells me no phone is connected).
Now I have the Trickdroid 11 file ready (1.1GB) but there is no way to install it on the phone... I really don't see how to do it anymore, did I really screw up big time and my phone is more or less a dead weight?
I am going to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at the end of the week, maybe someone will be able to find a solution for me...
I shouldn't have touched a phone that was working very well....I know...
Nobody? So my HTC one is dead?
Is the all in one tool going to help? I installed it but since my phone is not recognized by the computer (windows 8.1) when connected via USB, I don't seem to be able to do anything...

This is all if you can find a way to get files to your phone...
I'm not sure which recovery you have but when upgrading from Android 4.2.2, and 4.3 the recovery you are using needs to be updated to the most current version. For example if you are running TWRP recovery you need to be running TWRP 2.6.3.3 for everything to run smoothly. In order to do this though you will need to download your original ROM (No matter how long it takes). Then go google play store and download goo.im and update you recovery with openrecoveryscript and update from there and you should be fine. I would also like to note that it's fully recommended that when you flash 4.4 KK you do a full wipe. This means userdata/cache/dalvik cache wipe, otherwise you will run into problems. Let me know if I missed anything or if you have anymore questions!
Thank you, but unfortunately I still couldn't find a way to access the files on the phone, no matter what I do. The phone starts by itself to the HTC white screen when I connect it to the main to charge it... I can only access fastboot/bootloader... I feel useless...
I feel your pain

After my htc one freezing on the 'quietly trickdroid' loading screen my phone will now not turn on, AT ALL! I think it's screwed : S
I just arrived in Kuala Lumpur and took it to a little shop, they told me they will fix it for me by tomorrow for 50USD... I'll let you know tomorrow if they managed to make the magic happen. I think they would reinstall stock, but that's fine with me, much better than a bricked "rooted" phone. It will take me a while before I start to screw up with a phone again...

Samsung s3 lte i9305n not starting, need to recover photos etc.

Hi all,
I was hoping to be able to ge some advice on what to do or how to try to recover the files that i have in my phone.
My phone stopped working without any apparent reason and i have a lot of things that i didnt backed up.
When i try to start my phone , i´m new at this so please bear with me, what shows it's the " Samnsung GALAXY SIII GT-19305N " screen, as it would if it was going to start normally, but it does not go further than that.
The only button combination that i have gotten to work is home+power+volume down. That takes me to a screen that says that installing a custom OS can cause critical problems in phone and in applications, etc etc.
I have never had another ROM or OS installed in it.
I did however have it rooted by an application called kingroot if i dont remember wrong, to be able to install a game-assisting app.
Thank you for taking your time to read this , hope someone can help me out.
Hi,
I will move your thread to your devices Q&A section here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help
You will need to register on XDA to respond to anyone who replies.
Good luck!
Flash a stock rom via odin and it should revive the phone. Make sure it's the same version as what you had before it bootlooped and it wont erase anything.
