How do I bypass a Samsung Galaxy S4 Samsung Account Screen? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just got a Samsung Galaxy S4 from someone and before I got it I let the person I got it from remove their information and do a factory restore on the phone. When I got it back I noticed the phone was asking for a Samsung account that was previously used with the phone and I can't get that info. Is there a way to bypass that screen? The phone model number is: SCH-I545. I don't know what android version it has but the phone is for Verizon.

[Q] flashing sprint 3 back to sprint

i bought a note 3 on craigslist. i called sprint to activate. they say its not showing up in the system. after 5 days of getting the run around i was told the phone had been flashed. the knox is 0x1 does that mean i cant flash back to sprint. HOW DO I FLASH BACK TO SPRINT SO THE WILL RECOgNIZE THE NOTE 3. please help
Ok, if the device has been flashed, has it also been rooted? Go to the app drawer and see if there is a SuperSu icon there. If so your rooted. This will void your warranty but should not stop sprint from activating the phone. Now to the home page, swipe down and click the gear lookin thing ( settings ) in the upper right hand corner. Then click the general tab, then click About Device. Ok, what is your software version, android version, and baseband version. Lets start with that, depending on what you have, you should fairly easily be able to get back to a Sprint version of whatever OS you have.
help

Great !!! Your device is updated the latest version of 4.4.2 NC5 ( kitkat ). Since KNOX is 0x1 any warranty on the phone is void. Now up front if that phone was set up on a 2yr contract with the original owner, and the contract is not over, this could be an issue with Sprint ? So, with that out of the way lets see if we can get you activated. First, the reason that Sprint could not find the device with there system is because the phone is, or was rooted and a custom recovery was installed (flashed) this is why KNOX reads 0x1. Because the phone is rooted Sprint cannot send an OTA ( Over The Air Update ) to the device. Did the phone come to you in the original box ? If not, the serial number and MEID HEX and DEX (mobile equipment identifier ) numbers are on a sticker under the battery. Sprint my need those numbers you can find them there.
The first thing we need to do is get you back to stock. Do you have Samsung drivers installed on your PC? If not, go to this link http://www.devfiles.co/download/AbRa7wHc/SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe and get them installed. Go to this link http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=27506 register with SamMobile download the latest copy of 4.4.2 NC5 SPR version and you will need Odin 3.09 which you can get there as well. Download NC5 and Odin to your desktop.
Now lets get started, first extract the NC5 zip to your desktop this will automatically convert it to a .tar file. Now extract Odin to your desktop, click on Odin and open it. Click on the PDA button in Odin and box will open up. Click on desktop and then click and open the .tar file which will appear next to the PDA box. Boot your phone into download mode ( I assume you know how to do this since you found KNOX 0x1 ) connect your device via USB to the PC, in the upper left hand corner of Odin a box will light up COMM: with some color and number it doesn't matter what is says, it just shows you have a connection. Now don't touch any other settings just click start sit back and watch the magic !!! When its done you will have an out of the box stock Note 3. You can now try to activate your phone with Sprint by phone if you want. If it was me I would go into a Sprint Corporate store most likely the guys there, have phones they own rooted anyway, usually they cut you some slack if you no what I mean.
please advise
did that now sprint is saying that the device is not compatible with sprint. its not coming up lost or stolen just not compatible for some reason

Go to settings, general, about device. What is the Hardware version, and model number. We need to determine what is not compatible, be it hardware or software.
Lets tackle hardware first :
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9000 Octa (HSPA+ only)
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N900V (For Verizon)
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N900A (For AT&T)
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N900P (For Sprint)
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9002 (Dual SIM)
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N900T (For T-Mobile)
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N900R4 (For US Cellular)
n900p.12 is hardware

Cool, that is what it should be. I assume the model number is N900P? If so, I would take it to a Sprint Corporate Store, let them connect it to there equipment, and see if a tech can sort it out.

[Q] Verizon Unknown Device - Unlocked/Rooted Galaxy S4

I have a Verizon Galaxy S4 which has a fully unlocked bootloader and is rooted. On "My Verizon" the device shows up as unknown which makes sense. My issue is that I can't port my number from a Verizon Post Paid account to a PrePaid account since they can't active an unknown device on prepaid.
My question is, what on the Verizon system indicates it is an unknown device? Is it the bootloader? Rooted? Is there a way to revert back to a state that does not require relocking the bootloader that will make Verizon detect my phone as a Galaxy S4? I'm trying to switch my account over so that when my Nexus 6 comes in I can just swap at the sim card. Then the unlocked bootloader S4 goes up on Swappa.
Let me know if you think there's something that can be done. I could always just active an old Verizon phone, but I need to dig one up somewhere.
Thanks

So I used Odin to restore my phone back to stock. Locked bootloader and lost root. However, the Verizon My Device page still shows my device as unknown. I contacted Verizon and they changed my device ID number in their system to match the Galaxy S4. Still didn't update the My Verizon. Does anyone have any ideas how to get my device to be recognized by the Verizon Wireless Network as a Galaxy S4?

once you have root again you have to edit your build prop to say sch-i545 if it says anything different. when you switch to the prepaid tell them its a SCH-I545 Galaxy S4. My verizon takes months to update the model number at times and its not to be worried about. i think my old phone showed up unknown for a year and a half even before i had root
Just looked, the build.prop file says SCH-I515. Not sure what's holding up the Verizon system from recognizing the phone.
My concern is I can't activate or sell the phone if the system doesn't pick it up.

yes you can. their system could yake months to recognize your phone. as long as your IMIE number is good there should be no worries whatso ever if sold or activated

I believe you do need a Verizon sim card to access the Verizon software update platform. I know that when I de-activate a phone I get that message until I activate it again.
Try Using Samsung's Smart Switch software for updating.
Yu da man!
I had similar prob when I wanted to unroot my S4 "reformat" and after successful I couldn't update via OTA.... so I did it the hard way with Odin and then was happy, stuck my phone in a drawer for almost a year and decided to put it to service...... same problem again!...
After reading this thread, I realized since a new update was not available I'm getting the error whereas I didn't get it before....
I simply took my existing sim card in my activated Note 4 and put it in the S4 and wallah!... it worked! OTA!
My Verizon account didn't change anything because I didn't actually activate, just only switched sims "so no activation charges".... after OTA done, simply switched it back to my Note4 and now I have a fully updated S4 I can give away!..
Thx!
I got the same problem . I have a galaxy s5 virizon wirless.
There is any way to update my phone to marshmallows 6.0 without the computer

Unlock code for Samsung Fascinate SGH T959D required that became a GT I9000!

I have a (Telus) Samsung Fascinate SGH T959D that I rooted many years ago. When I unrooted the phone to give it to a relative somehow the phone transitioned to a Samsung Fascinate GT I9000. This was not a problem until a change in service provider was made. On changing from Telus to Koodo the phone would not recognise the new SIM card (because the phone was still locked). Neither Telus nor Samsung are able to provide an 'unlock code' for the phone, as the unlock code for a SGH T959D does not work.
Therefore, I have some options.
Obtain an unlock code, that will work, from somewhere.
Find out how to reset the phone to its original configuration (SGH T959D). A factory reset always returns the phone to that of an GT I9000.
Any helpful suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Thank you.
I have tried the following codes to date (as provided by Telus):
40575047
#0111*40575047
#7465625*638*40575047
to no avail.
