I have searched through multiple threads on here and googled, but I still can't find a fix to my problem.
Whenever I open Google play music, I get an "Unfortunately, system UI has stopped working" message. Ok then .___. I click ok, my phone "locks" itself and I have to unlock it again, then I can play my music. I've tried other audio player apps, but they always crash or get buggy after about a half hour of playing music. The system UI error only seems to happen when I open the play music app. I've backed up and factory reset my phone twice to see if there would be a change, Unfortunately that failed. I've also cleared the system cache and again nada. If someone could bestow another option, I'd be ever grateful
hey i had this problem and i uninstalled Google play music to its factory settings and it works fine as long as you dont update it
I had the same problem. I just uninstall Google Play Music. I have the BlackPlayer Music Player & N7 Player Music Player. Both works fine and I've had it for more than 30 days with no problems.

Yes it has but since this is your first post, we'll let it slide.
Go into Manage Apps->Musicplayer and clear cache and data. Reboot and Bam!! there you go.
Also don't forget for the future that your External_sd is now called EMMC just in case you need to direct something to your extsd card like 3rd party music player, camera,...
jyound New

This happens to me as well and this is how I solve it.
First, force exit the music player (I use long-press on the back button).
Second go to manage apps > music player > clear data and clear cache
third restart music player and go to settings and refresh music from google music
Give it a little bit. It take mine about 20 minutes to complete the refresh but I have about 16GB of music on my phone.
This should solve it but for good measure, I reboot into recovery, clear cache, clear dalvik, and fix preferences.
Let me know if this helps.
That EMMC threw me off for the longest time. I bounced off a couple ICS ROM's before I realized the external was mounting fine, lol. They should put that in the OP of ICS ROM's
i tried clearing the data and cache and rebooted
i did everything and nothing i even tried to delete all music off of it and putting it back on and it gives me the same message immediately am i cursed?
is there nothing i can do
ive tried all of the above and still nothing is there anything i can do i really like using my phone as a music player its kinda important to me should i just switch to an iphone?
Have you tried another music player?
Install winamp. If it works, then try reinstaling google music.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
ive done it all
ive tried win amp and something else and when i tried those it just never played the song and there would be like 6 of the same song and non of them would play
Is the file type .mp3? If so it should play just fine.
Can you play the songs from the file browser? Try using "file explorer" or "root explorer", navigate to the folder that contains the music files and see if it plays from there. Sometimes after a fresh flash I need to do this to get music player to find the rest of my music folders.
Goodluck!
p.s. If you break down and buy an iphone send the vibrant to me dogg!
Try PowerAmp. It doesn't rely on the Android music scan or library. This eliminates the problem with tracks appearing multiple times. It also uses its own codecs and supports more formats.

I agree with the post above!
I had the "cannot play music" issue and tried the clearing of caches etc. nothing worked so I downloaded Power Amp and have been happy ever since.
I have atest Lite'ning Rom installed and Jkay Deluxe and Mad them and using the Lite'ning Rom
Recently all my music apps keeps on crashing. Everytime I go to open a song it keeps on saying it has stopped working. I have tried Poweramp, Winamp MIUI etc and its the same for them all. I cannot select any song?
When I use My File I can search for the song and it opens and plays but that's it I cannot open another song as the app crashes.
Tried removing and re-installing no joy clear cache, dalvik and fix permissions no joy there either.
Is there anything I can do to fix this as bleeding annoying.....
Thanks in advance
Got it sorted
There is a fix for Litening in the toolbox so downloaded this and now all is ok
2 weeks ago i tried to play music with a Bluetooth device in a car and when i clicked play 2 things happen:
1.it tried to play, but was stuck on 0:00
2.it crashed
on Google music it poped a message "couldn't play the track you requested" and then the DSP manager crashed.
yesterday i tried it again on a different Bluetooth in a different car, same thing.
I've downloaded every app on the store and none of them worked, i think the problem is the ROM because it worked before and then i changed it.
my phone is android skyrocket, android version 4.4.2 and my ROM is carbon-kk-nightly-20140319-0340
any ideas?
found out that it can play youtube and apps and any music file under 1.5mb
well in case someone with the same problem will look at this
solution:download different dsp managers untill it works
So I just bought and installed a Rydeen DV638A in my car. It's an in-dash receiver running pure Android, specifically Froyo.
Been using it for a few days and I absolutely love it. Would recommend it to anyone. It's got a Cortex A7 processor, is very quick and responsive, and it boots up in just a few seconds. It also comes pre-loaded with the Google Play store and has access to most Froyo compatible apps.
I've got virtually all my Google Apps installed. Drive, Movies & TV, Keep, etc. all of these work flawlessly. What is annoying me is this. I have Google Play Music installed, but when I click on it, it launches the stock music app. No matter what I try I can't get it to launch Google Play Music instead of the stock Froyo music player.
Since I have all my music on Google Play, I'd like to fix this, but I really don't want to attempt to root the unit... anyone know what I could do to solve it?
Okay, so I played with it more and here's what's happening now. I noticed that I had 10 authorized devices on my Google Play Music account, so I removed some, and that helped. Now, if I press Google Music, it actually opens Google Music - 50% of the time. The other 50% of the time it still opens the stock Froyo app, but if I exit that app and try again, it works. Weird.
Thinking about setting something up with Tasker. Maybe make it so that any time the stock music player launches, it auto launches Google Music. Any ideas?
My Note 2 is a completely stock version, no unlocking/rooting. Just got Kitkat update a few days ago.
I'm not sure if this is an issue caused by the update, I didn't use the music player in the day before
or after the update.
While in the stock music player, I will select a song to play and it starts playing normally.
When I hit the back key to go back to the list of music, the music freezes/skips for
a second, then resumes normally. Pushing back again or selecting a playlist to look at
also causes the pause. If I exit the player and allow the music to run in the background
it plays normally. But any time I open the app again, it pauses at every touch of the screen
and buttons.
I've done a few battery pulls, cleared all cache and data from the app, cleared the
cache partition, and Googled it to no avail. Any help would be much appreciated!

Did you try another music app to see if it's just that app?
Same thing was happening to my phone. It's the voice feature that causes to freeze if you disable it, it will stop that lag. To disable it go to settings>voice control>then uncheck the music option and that should fix the problem.
