Rydeen DV638A & Google Play Music - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I just bought and installed a Rydeen DV638A in my car. It's an in-dash receiver running pure Android, specifically Froyo.
Been using it for a few days and I absolutely love it. Would recommend it to anyone. It's got a Cortex A7 processor, is very quick and responsive, and it boots up in just a few seconds. It also comes pre-loaded with the Google Play store and has access to most Froyo compatible apps.
I've got virtually all my Google Apps installed. Drive, Movies & TV, Keep, etc. all of these work flawlessly. What is annoying me is this. I have Google Play Music installed, but when I click on it, it launches the stock music app. No matter what I try I can't get it to launch Google Play Music instead of the stock Froyo music player.
Since I have all my music on Google Play, I'd like to fix this, but I really don't want to attempt to root the unit... anyone know what I could do to solve it?

Okay, so I played with it more and here's what's happening now. I noticed that I had 10 authorized devices on my Google Play Music account, so I removed some, and that helped. Now, if I press Google Music, it actually opens Google Music - 50% of the time. The other 50% of the time it still opens the stock Froyo app, but if I exit that app and try again, it works. Weird.
Thinking about setting something up with Tasker. Maybe make it so that any time the stock music player launches, it auto launches Google Music. Any ideas?

Google Music + Note stock audio player

Hey guys, i've searched this forum as well as google for this answer, but i haven't found a solution. I finally got around to setting up my Google Music account and as soon as i connected it to my phone, i started seeing these false listings in my stock player. Basically, there are doubles of every song and album, except they don't play. So now when i kick off an album, it'll play fine until it hits one of these "ghosts" then stops and won't advance again until i prompt it.
My question is, can i restrict Google Music content to the GM app only and not have it appear in my stock player?

Seems like spam and that app in the market doesn't look very impressive. Seems under-featured as well. What exactly did that have to do with Google Music integration?
What I did.
Use [Your choice of apps that can freeze / delete system apps] and freeze / delete the stock music player. IMO Google music does everything it does and more.

That's not a bad idea. Perhaps i need to give GM another look.
I really don't think you will be disappointed, I have a large collection on my home pc, and it's nice to be able to pull from pc, to note from anywhere. plus you can upload your collection to the cloud and access it anywhere, I will get free music from the amazon music market, save to pc, then re-upload to Google, quick way to get alot of free, completely legal music, quick. Not to mention Google Music also has some decent freebies at times too.

Google music is a gem that doesn't get enough credit.

Android use for media only?

I want to use an older android device for use with my chrome cast only. I have a lot of purchased movies and music through the play store that I would like my while family to have access to. But I don't want them to access my gmail or be able to install apps.
How can I accomplish this...?
Thanks in advance.
Grab an old android with minimal of 512mb of ram and at least OK developer support and root it, then remove anything Google-like other than what you need.
Also I would recommend one with an SD card to support all those movies.
Maybe the nexus one?
I have a gs3. The goal is to keep play movies and music but disable the ability to install apps and block access to any other Google services.
I'm pretty sure play movies and music need the play store which is an issue.
I just ran a test, used titanium backup to freeze play store than tried to listen to my music (cloud) from play music, worked great. Then I tried play movies and I kept getting connection error. I defrosted play store then went back to movies and it worked, then froze play store again it kept working.
So it looks like you need play store running when you first connect and play music and movies, but once you are connected you can remove play store for good.
So your s3 should work just fine
Thanks, guess a just have to try and see what happens. Was hoping someone ashtray had a tried solution.
Thanks again

Any way to stop stock music player from autostarting on BT connect?

I've searched and can't find anything, but I need to find a way to stop the stock music player from playing when my phone connects to my car's BT. I use Google play music and want that one to auto start, but every freaking time I start my car, the Samsung player starts that dumb preloaded song.
Honestly, I don't care if I can't get play music to autostart, I just want the Samsung one to stop. And yes, I've tried disabling the app, but it can't be, at least non-rooted. So, any help/advice would be great. Thanks.

Is Google Play Music set as the default music player? I haven't rooted my phone or anything, it's completely stock and just by setting Google Play Music to the default on Day 1 of getting this phone (April 8th) it always auto starts when I connect via Bluetooth.

I never got the option to set it as default and I didn't see anything about it in application manager. Any idea where to find it?
OK, figured it out in a round about way. I had to open a .mp3 in Samsung's file explorer and then it asked me for the default. So let's see if it works.
@Hendrycks
Thanks! It worked.
That didnt work for me. Upon linking to BT in my car, the stock Samsung player still auto starts. I have tried setting play music as default, I have set Player Pro as default. it still auto launches the stock crappy Samsung player app. Ideally I dont want it to auto launch any app. I use Pandora alot in my car and since it auto launches the samsung app, that means my car stereo does not display the track info for the playing song in Pandora on the screen.
Sooo annoyed
I have the same exact issue and it is driving me crazy. I have tried everything in the phone and settings and there is nothing. I have downloaded both Connect and Play, and Smart Connect as bluetooth connectors but the stupid factory music beats it to the punch every time. Nothing works! I am about to chuck my phone. Someone please help!
me too
Does anyone have another suggestion? This happens to me if I even "pause" my podcast player too long. Truely annoying.
I am going to try this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cp2.start.and.play.music.player&hl=en
So far, with the UI, it does look like it has the right settings/options.
Sorry to bump this but came across this while trying to sort this very same issue. I'v found an app called Package Disabler Pro in the Play Store . The best thing is that it works without root.. It isn't free but I thinks if you been looking for something thats solves this issue its worth it. It worked for me so hope it works for you. And if you try it quick enough you can get a refund if it don't work
Download Trigger, I have mine set so when it connects to bluetooth it launches Google music but you can choose anything you want or nothing at all!
Sent from my SM-G925F using XDA Free mobile app

I have the same problem. I installed Trigger, but it didn't work. What task did you add?
The best I came up with was denying access to storage in the application's settings. Now it just prompts me to give it permission when I connect to bluetooth. At least that horrid song doesn't play anymore.
Have you tried Tasker ? Had same problem myself on S6 Edge, but after a little fiddling with Tasker. The default "music" closes, tunein radio is launched & my volume levels are adjusted. I can revert back to "music" by pressing play/pause on hands free.

[Q] Google play disabled all of my music

I just started using google play and purchasing music through them. For a few days, everything was fine but then some artists started dissapearing. Eventually all my old music was completely gone. All the files are still there on my phone, but can only be sampled through my file viewer. I'm assuming that Google play just disabled them all for piracy reasons, but thats the thing. I purchased more than half of it on iTunes growing up.
Does anyone know of a solution to this problem, or maybe a way that I can edit the music so that google doesn't pick it up as 'Pirated'?

Stock music app w/ Google Play Music

I saw that Spotify was integrated in with the stock music app, but I never messed with it (Spotify was one of the apps I uninstalled immediately). I was wondering if it was possible to integrate the Google Play Music app with the stock music app (i.e. use the stock interface to listen to music from Google Play).
It's probably that I'm not a fan of the color orange... and Google Play Music has orange EVERYWHERE.
On a side note, just got the phone yesterday (coming from LG G3) and am loving it. Only got warm during the initial update, no lag happening afterwards... not sure why there's so much negativity in these threads on here.
