I managed to install the latest release (non-nightly) successfully using TWRP and performing a format and wipe beforehand. However, upon initialisation, it asks me to connect to the Internet. I attempt to do so, trying to connect to my home wifi network, but even after inputting the correct password, it still doesn't connect. It also claims that there is no signal, when other cellphones in the house clearly indicate 4-5 bars. Somewhat confused, I decide to look into the status of the phone. To my shock, it states that the Mobile network type is unknown, along with the phone number, IMEI, IMEI SV, IP address and network all being unknown. It seems that I am unable to text or call, effectively making my phone useless. I've tried to look around other forums, but to no avail and was wondering if anyone here has had the same problem and potentially has a workaround/solution to it.
Thanks!
You have probably erased your EFS partition... Do you have any whole NAND backup which could contain it?
No backup, I'm afraid, which was real foolish of me. I have no idea what to do. Is there any way to restore it?
It's hard to tell... There are few tutorials out there but with the variety of results... You can try to search for some IMEI restore tutorials.

Hello.
I've tried to restore my original IMEI, since mine is set to 004999010640000, which is a fake. I've used repair application on Android Market and tried to fix it manually, but with no effect. It is still the same IMEI, regardless, what I do. I may be doing something wrong, but I am not sure. I run on ICS 4.0.1 and it is an original ROM. Rooted. Could you possibly help me with this case? I have an Internet connection and I can make calls, but IMEI is still fake. I also have power menu and lock screen working, so it is just matter of corrupted IMEI number, in my humble opinion.
I hope you help me.
Hi all,
hope someone can help me. Since this night I am no longer able to connect to my mobile provider. I tested the sim in a different phone and the sim works fine.
When I go to settings, and search for the providers, I get all german providers but when I try to connect, it says it is not possible.
Is there anything I can try? Or could it be that something in my device is broken?
I have JellyBam CM10 4.12 running, but it seems to be not Rom-related.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
Check your IMEI in settings/about phone/status. If it begins with '0044' (do not post your actual IMEI or any portion thereof here !), there's your problem. If that's the case, restore your EFS backup (there are heaps of threads about same on here).
Also, there's always the possibility the phone has been IMEI blocked (assuming your IMEI is correct/OK). If your IMEI is correct/OK, call your carrier & confirm your IMEI is/isn't blocked.
If neither of those things are the issue, I'd do a clean install of stock in the first instance & see if the problem persists. If it does, it may well be a hardware issue. If going back to stock does fix the problem, it's obviously a rom issue; maybe try a completely clean install of the rom you were using & see how that goes.

I tried everything except calling the provider.
My IMEI and Baseband is still visible and ok.
If I search for networks, it finds the networks, but says "Unable to connect".
This happens also with stock ICS firmware as well as with the custom ROM.
Does it mean, that my hardware is broken?
Not necessarily. But call your carrier & ask if the phone is IMEI blocked. It could also be a case of something not setup correctly at their end so far as your account with them is concerned.
That's what's you need to do next.

I also noted now, that I have unknown baseband and no IMEI since yesterday.
I had a backup of EFS folder, but restoring it didnt change anything. Using EFSBackupPro...
Dont know what to do else...pleaasseee help

Try restoring stock via odin

Try restoring your efs folder manually , with a root file explorer, if you have your efs folder backed up on your external SD card copy it to the root directory of your phone
i have restored the EFS folder from my girlfriends phone (just to test, because i have only an img of my backup)
No chance, still no Baseband/IMEI...
Seems to be a hardware issue? Or should I try to get professional help (JTAG?)
Should not be using another phone EFS on your phone. Data are different in them.
Please read before posting read this and that...
I read somewhere that a firmware from another country will not matter, so I installed the Croatian 4.3 android on my S3 and since then I wasn't able to make any calls except 'Emergency calls only'. The 4.3 was xxugmj9, and the modem was something similar but I can't remember. My IMEI and S/N stayed the same, and still are the same! Then I downloaded 4.1 stock rom and installed it via odin - xxemg4 and also the xxemg4 modem. IMEI still same, but no network (I DO have network signal, but it just says not registered on network when I try to dial a number).
I got suggestions that my /efs changed to another format, but I don't have my efs backed up before I installed the new firmware thinking nothing can go wrong... Also when I go to Search networks I can select my nretwork which I use and it gives me a message 'Registered on network' but as soon as I close that I have the '!' mark in my drop-down menu...
So the actual question is what rom/modem, what can I do, if anything, to fix this? ..oh an I've also tried the ARIZA patch, which did not work as well.
I have made an efs backup now, better at one point then never.
Giving screen shot just in case I'm doing something wrong..
You need to install the patched MG4 modem that is floating around here somewhere. Try that for a start

Making a new thread won't change the answers you've already been given.
Flashing random things without understanding them will only damage your phone further, like ariza patch.
Take it to a service centre for repair is your best option as you are incapable of reading searching or following XDA rules .
Hi I'm looking for help with my i9300. I had an aborted root, the phone froze during root and eventually I had to restart, I was able to re-install the stock ROM and the phone seems to work fine, apart from one major problem: It won't recognise any mobile networks. The phone won't recognise my network (3), or simcards from any other network. I have re-entered the APN information manually, but this has made no difference.
All other aspects of the device work fine, wifi, apps etc.
I'd appreciate any advice on steps I can take to resolve this.
I have obviously tried standard stuff such as full factory reset.
The phone still displays coverage bars as if it was connected to a network, but when I try to dial out or send messages I get an error message "unable to register on network"
Check the imei number matches the one under the battery, if it has changed then you have major problems without a backup of the efs partition. Search and read for hundreds of similar threads, there is a sticky in the general forum.
Before I start with the issue, let me begin with some basic information: This is in regards to my Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900T (T-mobile), running Lollipop 5.1.1, FOG6 build, DOB1 baseband, rooted, deodexed, but otherwise stock.
My problem: Today I flashed a rom via Mobile Odin Pro and soft-bricked my device. After a lot of hair pulling and screaming at my phone and computer, I finally got my phone up and running again. After trying many different solutions, I eventually tried re-flashing TWRP through Odin (recovery initially would not boot, hence the soft-brick), which succeeded, and then recovered my phone by restoring from a previous backup.
This got my phone up and running again, but once it boot, I had no service. I first checked my APN settings, but was presented with a message stating, "Unable to view the access point name settings. Access is restricted for the current user profile." I tried adding a new APN, but once I added it, it did not appear in the APN list, which continued to only display the above message. I then tried to "Search now" for Network Operators, but nothing was found. So next I checked my IMEI through "About Device", and discovered it was set to "Unknown". Checking the IMEI through the dialer (*#06#) lists the IMEI as "null / null".
I have searched high and low and tried everything I could find to fix this. I tried restoring my TWRP EFS backup to no effect. I also tried flashing the modem through Odin, as well as restoring my TWRP modem backup. I tried using an Xposed app to manually set the IMEI back to its original value (I happen to have my phone's original IMEI number written down from when I SIM unlocked my device), but while this updated the IMEI displayed in the dialer (through *#06#), it did not change the value in "About Device" and did not restore my service.
The last solution I tried (found here: http://www.technobezz.com/restore-galaxy-null-imei-and-fix-not-registered-on-network/) involves me using the dialer to enter Service Mode to make some changes; however, while dialing *#197328640# did open the Service Mode menu, the menu was totally blank.
Please help! Given the current state of my phone, I cannot make or receive calls or texts or do anything else requiring a mobile connection. I have looked everywhere and I don't know what else to try :crying: :crying:
Assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated, as until I am able to fix this, I don't have a functional phone
Any suggestions?
