So I downloaded the firmware I want with XperiFirm (it's the newest stock firmware for my region - 3.111) aaand I don't really know how to flash it. XperiFirm just gave me a folder with a bunch of files and there is no .ftf file which I thought flashtool needed. Can anyone give me a quick "tutorial" on how to flash this to my device? Thanks EDIT: I started flashing but the process seems to be stuck at "Opening TA Partition 1" Should I just give it more time or try again?
U need to compile that folder in to a ftf file using flashtool. After that u can flash it. Tools/bundles/create thats where u can compile it. If u don't know how to proceed from that point just search from google "how to make ftf file with flashtool"

how i can root the new firmware 6.1.1.B.1.54 for the xperia u ??
First, you need to flash the B.1.10 kernel available here and then, root it using Bin4ry's Tool After that, flash back B.1.54 kernel and you are done
and how i do it? can you write an instruction
i know, my english is bad ^^
Do you know how to use Flashtool ? What you need to do is either get the kernel file or the entire Stock FTF from here, then flash it with Flashtool
After selecting Flashtool, deselect all the options on top right relating to Wipe and select all options on bottom right pertaining to Exclude, except for Exclude Kernel (we dont tick Exclude Kernel). Then click Flash and connect your device and you succesfully flashed just the kernel of that FTF
Step-by-step please!
i dont get it
please can you make a step by step instruction for me please
i know my english is bad ^^
Take a look at this video It shows how to flash an ftf with Flashtool

Root access gone after flashing 6.1.1.B.1.54
1) I had xperia U firmware 6.1.1.B.1.10 .
2)
I rooted my my xperia U with flashtool.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933985
It was rooted perfectly.
3 ) Later on, I used flashtool to upgrade flash my phone to 6.1.1.B.1.54 firmware
using this --
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2075526
But, now when I am opening Titanium Backup or other application. I see the message no root access found!
I saw in some thread that adding some files helped restore root access...
Please advise...

Hey bro,
Sorry for late reply When you flash stock ftf, you'll lose root What you need to do is flash back just the Kernel of B.10 [In Flashtool deselect all the Wipe Commands and select all the Exclude Commands except the Kernel) and then you can root with Bin4ry tool or Flashtool. Then after that, flash back the kernel of B.54 or whichever firmware you wanted by the same way I just described
Hope it helps
Cheers

You can download the stock file from here
Move this .ftf file to the c:\flashtool\firmwares folder,
connect phone via usb
open flahtool hit the flash button (lightning) ,
get into flashmode (it will give instructions on how to do that)
let the flashtool do it's job.
More detailed guide on how to use the flashtool - click here
Hit the thanks button if i helped

Theres no 1.54 only 1.564 is that the one i should use
Okay, I have a big problem with my phone, I decided to redo the operating system to a new version/ROM because the one i was using on it before several issues where coming up with it, 1: I Couldn't connect to other providers even though i had phone unlocked. 2: Some default programs where having problems starting.
So When doing a kernel upgrade my phone did not respond kept staying for 2 hours on the "SE" logo, and would not budge, so i decided to remake it, after about 4 hours i was able to get a OS on it, but this OS was older and out of date, when trying to go back to xRecovery it did not want to come up, i downloaded a Reboot to Recovery APK, which informed me that My "xRecovery" was not installed, which is weird because it was installed before.
I been trying to get the Default root method to install xRecovery which every time i ran the "Flash tools" program, it would not allow me to install xRecovery.
If anyone can contact me on skype "mradziwilko" to help me out, or post here ill be here checking on forum every min.
Thanks
Anyone would love some help?

Hi buddy, Have you tried to use ftf file like zahdi5h, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2212260 to update?
You have to have unlocked boot loader and you can drag and drop the ftf into flash tool. Make sure you tick no final verification in flashtool or you will get error.
If that don't work then I suggest starting over with fresh 2.3.3.
Go back to stock using Sony Ericsson Update Service (seus) Use google or search threads for program.
Then just re-do, unlock boot loader and install recovery again with flashtool.
Hopefully zahdi5h ftf file will get you out of trouble.

Hi mate is your boot loader unlocked? If not then unlock it with flashtool. Try Version 0.9.10.1 of flashtool. Work's for me.
Download from http://androxyde.github.io/index.html?1373179542000
And you can also drag and drop the FTF file into flash-tool. FTF contains Kernel and rom., tick the no final verification box on bottom right.

This was discussed many times and it doesn't work because we have no separate recovery partition on our phones, kernel and recovery is one partition so it's impossible

Hi,
I m trying to flash Cynogen Mod 12 on my Xperia L phone, using FlashTool.
However, unlike .ftf file, FlashTool is not recognising the zip. I even tried to extract the zip in a folder containing boot.img, still the FlashTool is not recognizing anything there.
Please help.

I'd suggest you flash it from the recovery. It's a more successful and preferred option.

Make sure that firmware that you download with xperifirm is not unpacked immediatly. (dont tick the checkbox), unpack it later with flashtool and it wont give you errors
