Auto rotate frequently gets in the way when I'm using my device. I never want it on until I'm trying to view something meant for landscape. Instead if there was a module to enable it automatically while using certain apps and have it disabled for others would make much more sense. I don't want it always on or off.
Here's an example;
Enabled when using gallery app.
Disabled when using Textra. I never use landscape keyboard.
If anyone wants a new project I know this would be a very useful module I would use everyday.

Think you need third party. It's expensive but the Norton mobile stuff comes with a very effective call management bit, as well as cloud based password manager.
And no, I don't work for them but do enjoy their shizzle, recommend to anyone.

You can blacklist using the stock UI without a third-party app - it just isn't as intuitive as TouchWiz.
If you go in to edit a contact and scroll down to the bottom - there's an option that says something like 'send calls to voicemail.
For texting you will need a third-party app.

i'm new to this phone and seems like i can't find a blacklist feature in the stock rom as well
i was always spoiled by my note 2's massive developer support and abundance of aftermarket roms... blocking calls were non-issue

that's quite an unelegant way to go at this problem... i'd have to add telemarketer's to my contact list just to block them LOL
i'm going to try some 3rd party app... there seems to be many of them on Google Play...
I've just received the Logitech keyboard/cover and noticed that the hotkeys for applications run the Android defaults, whether or not you've set another default. For example, I use the Habit Browser and if I click a link in a document it "always" uses the Habit browser, but if I use the Internet hotkey it opens the default Android browser.
Any ideas?

External keyboard helper pro. Use this and set a tasker profile using bluetooth state and secure setting plugin to make it auto switch to it as the input method when your keyboard connects. It allows you to completely configure your keyboard. It will take a little bit to figure out but its worth it.

Any chance you (or some other equally helpful person) would be willing to provide detailed instructions on how to set up the Tasker aspect of this?

External Keyboard Helper does not work with the wifi version (wish I knew why???) Is there a way to use Tasker (or some other program) to trick the tablet into launching the stock email program when the email key is pressed on the Logitech Pro (which defaults to launch Gmail)?
Hi everybody,
I'm now exploring my new Z2, and being obsessed about battery life I am curious about the stamina mode.
So I get that on the very basic level, it simply shuts down WiFi and mobile data when the screen is off and turns them back on when the phone is active.
But what happens when I add apps to the "whitelist"? If I add gmail to get email notifications - would it keep data running? would it turn it on periodically (e.g. like Juice Defender)?
the data is running but is controlled like firewall.
lets say if u add whatsapp in the whitelist, only whatsapp can get the traffic while other apps are blocked when screen off.
This might help you - http://developer.sonymobile.com/2013/04/03/how-sonys-battery-stamina-mode-works/
I was wondering the same thing. The link someguyfromhell posted doesn't really say how it works. I'm interested in this because it seems to have a great impact on battery life and notifications arrive instantly and I'd like to use something like this with a 3rd party ROM. Is there any app out there that does exactly that?

Greenify does the exact same thing at a shorter extent I believe.
The title says it all, what applications do you use for your watch?
I don't use a whole lot. But the few I use (which aren't already on the watch) are:
Wear Mini Launcher
Audio Recorder
Attopedia
Apps I use with Wear support (and actually it on my watch):
Keep
Allthecooks
Runkeeper
I'm using the camera app. Works great for those hidden shots or selfies if your into that

Sometimes I leave my phone in my office during poop breaks and use Pixtocam to keep an eye on things while I'm...occupied. It's actually quite handy.
Wear Mini Launcher is the best app for android wear, a must have.
I use Google Keep as my passbook.
Hey guys, ran into an odd issue... on my tablet I have myself setup and then added my Wife as another user. The issue is that my Wife's account seems to be "limited" as she is unable to change some settings (such as "Unknown Sources"). How can I either enable her account to change those settings or have that app show up for her as it does on my account?
Nobody else? Pretty simple to try. You just need an apk file (i.e. download an official google one from apkmirror.com) and a second user setup on your tab. The first user can go into Settings -> Security and turn on the "Unknown Sources" option. The second user when going to that setting sees it as greyed out and cant do anything with it (and hence cant install the APK)
It doesn't surprise me at all that there would be limitations for secondary users. It seems prudent for security issues

When I say "Secondary" I simply mean a user I setup after my initial account. It seems ridiculous that adding another user means that user does not have full access to the tablet (thats what restricted profiles are for). If the solution is to buy another tablet Google is just as bad as Apple
Is there any way to make my apps available for a second user? For example, I would like to set it up so my daughter can use Netflix without worrying about her going in to other things. She's only four.

Yes. When you add a user choose "Restricted Profile". I'm not sure on the specifics of setting it up but thats what you are looking for
