Sony 2 year ADH warranty. - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

This is for anyone that still has a current warranty bought from Sony. The 2 year ADH bought from sony and sold by sony only. My phone was getting bad wear on it after having it for 2 years. I cant charge it some times and i have white spots all over the device. I called the Sony ADH and spoke to an agent about my issues. They put me on hold and came back and said that there are no more Z ultras and would give me back full purchase price of what i bought the phone for. I was shocked! I was like wow that is awesome. So now i am waiting for my refund check. Just letting people know about this. Of course it may vary depending on your situation. Good luck.:good:

SquareTrade Experience??

I take great care of my tech toys...especially my Prime. But yesterday when I dropped my Transformer on the concrete, I realized anything can happen. It was in my neoprene carrying case with the keyboard attached, and it fell onto one of it's corners nice and solid. I knew for sure something happened, was hoping for just a minor dented corner, but I knew from all the stories here that the screen would be cracked. After 10 mins of growing enough balls to do it, I unzipped the case and checked it out. It is %100 fine...physically and internally!
So I'm going with SquareTrade. I'm rooted and unlocked, and flash custom ROMS/ kernels also, so as far as Asus is concerned I'm an outcast.
Has anyone had any experience with SquareTrade?
I know they're highly recommended and reliable, but I've never heard of anyone actually using it.
Will they just pay me for it because they can't find any Primes or parts for it?
Do they just send it to Asus anyway?
I would hope they cover bricks, but I'm not sure.
Do you have 30 days or 90 days to purchase? I've heard both.
Thanks guys...

While it's still under warranty, you send it to Asus and ST reimburses you for the repair up to the value of your policy.

Voiding your warranty by unlocking it is a grey area. The language in their policy specifically excludes user induced damage related to non-standard h/w and s/w. I don't know if any one here has tested it yet by trying to get reimbursed for a "brick."

I think it's 30 over the web but I've heard of agents doing it outside 30 days over the phone.

Very interesting...thanks. So I have to come out of pocket to Asus, then eventually get reimbursed by SquareTrade? That sucks. I've heard of Prime repairs costing almost as much as a new one.
And by it going to Asus, it would be more likely that it would be detected as a brick with modified software etc...definite grey area. I'm actually considering just getting rid of it while it's still in perfect working condition and holding off for the Infinity. It just seems like even if not by me, somethings gonna give. Screen muras, the mysterious cracked glass from the dock, etc.
Got some thinking to do.
Before I unlocked and got square trade I called them and specifically asked about SOFTWARE unlocking, and say I accidentally dropped it. They said they will cover it, they just stressed to me I can't be opening it physically.
I just purchased the Square Trade warranty for my Transformer Prime yesterday.
I'm usually not interested in an extended warranty from Best Buy or other retailers. I figure they've done the analysis, and if they paid out more then they took in, they certainly wouldn't be pushing extended warranties.
However, if my Prime were to get damaged, I think I'd want to replace it, and at $500 or so, I really would NOT want to have to come out of pocket again.
Also, the reviews on Square Trade are excellent! Very good user experiences when needing to have a device repaired, or, if it's no longer repairable or replaceable, Square Trade seems to refund your purchase price in full!
FYI: I called Square Trade before buying the extended warranty, and asked the salesperson for a discount code. She offered me 10% code, I told her I've seen numerous codes that provided 30% off... she ended up giving me a code that was good for 20% off.
I am currently in the process of having mine repaired through them. I set up a claim online, they sent me a box, it is going to a repair facility in Pennsylvania, they never asked me to send it t o ASUS. They should recieve it today, then they will assess the condition of the unit.
Just had a DroidX repaired by Square Trade. They gave me a pre-paid shipping label (two days) repaired the unit, and had it back in my hands exactly one week later. (I shipped on a Monday, received it back on a Monday.)
I am very impressed...and glad I have a SquareTrade warranty on my Prime.

That is fantastic to hear, having just dropped a few bucks on a Square Trade warranty!
Thanks for the info!
FWIW, I've had SquareTrade repair my step-kid's S-OFF'd & rooted Aria multiple times and they have never given me grief because it was unlocked. Although they did return it once after fixing a broken screen with a screenshot showing the Superuser app installed and circled in red. Not sure what they were trying to say there, but it was repaired nonetheless.

I bought a sqauretrade warranty a few weeks ago, I insured my tfp for $700 for the tablet and the dock, but since I didn't buy a bundle they only insure the tablet for $535, they offered me a 30 dollar keyboard dock warranty but I doubt my dock will break before my tablet so I will cut my loses when I upgrade.
Anyone want to give me some insurance fraud tips for when I plan to upgrade so they don't replace it with another TFP? I was thinking about throwing it in the pool and making sure it hit the deck first so they can't fix it lol.

Go do some work on your roof with music playing on tablet. Then accidently slip it off with the hammer and all the other tools following it. That should do it.

I'm buying a policy tomorrow, because I dropped my Prime TWICE in 5 days! I've never done that to any electronics I've ever had, and most likely once I get a policy I will never drop it again
But it was docked and closed and in a neoprene carrying case, and by some miracle, nothing happened.
Thanks again for the info

Problems getting a warranty replacement

Hi all,
I know there are many threads about the yellow tint problem on the XS, but, is anyone else finding it very hard to get a replacement from Sony because of this issue?
I've been waiting for well over a month now because they keep saying they have no displays or replacement units!
I bought an official Italian product from one of the biggest retail chains in Italy.
This is just not acceptible from Sony imho, I'm seriously thinking of selling my XS and getting something else..
Please share any bad experiences..
P.s. The yellow tint is now starting to turn brown!
Well, what will you get instead? A One X? Which has dead pixel issues, flickering screen issues, screen gap issues, etc?
I think Sony is being really careful with the replacement screens - this involves extra QA that slows it down.
I would not want to be the person in charge of the first screen QA...
Honestly I don't know what I'd get to replace it, but last time I had on official product from my country and needed warranty from Samsung they replaced it same day because they didn't have spare parts (Faulty SGS2).
I'm just annoyed about the aftersales, I have no problem with the XS (a part from the screen, obviuosly).
I paid premium for my XS and I expect to get treated accordingly!
I worked for years in the aftersales department of a large company and if we didn't have parts we'd replace the entire unit, the most important thing was keeping the customers happy. All Sony has said is "next week" followed by "next week" the week after and so on.

maybe ring them back and tell them you want your phone back repaired or a new one within a time limit ( say a week for example) or you are going to trading standards, citizens advice etc, I'm not sure what these are called in Italy but I assume you have similar

I have been told pretty much the same. I was told only yesterday that the remaining component they are waiting for will arrive tommorrow, and now I have just found out that it wont arrive till Monday. Phone has been at service centre since 26th April.
I first contacted Sony on the 11th of April, I'm still waiting..
It's weird that you have to do everything via Sony when you bought it a a retail store.
AFAIK the retailstore has to "fix" your problem.
I could get a replacement pretty easily, they even came to my house and replaced the phone at my front door.
That's true within the 1st 15 days from purchase (in Italy), my yellow tint appeared a couple of days later..
Today I got responce from Sony Mobile of Greece, they told me that they are waiting for the replacement screen from start of July!!!!! WTF??? maybe they are trying to short out the problem and manufacturing new parts with different construction methods...(!)
I just got mad today... two more months??? And the bad thing is that now that the weather is hot and my phone reaches 47°C the tint is worse than ever!!!! Screw me Sony!!

If we should screw every manufacture that has problems with bad phones, you would be without a phone...
no manufacture is faultless
I got a call from the Sony service center on Friday and thought "finally"!
Only to find out seconds later that they have received only the black displays...
I told the guy that my problem was with the display so he informed me the display is actually attached to the outer shell so I have to wait for white parts to arrive..
Seems like a bad solution to me from the start.
What happens if i damage the plastic by dropping my phone? Do I have to get a new display too to replace it? WTF?
T-Mobile in the UK replaced mine for a new one with no hassle, very good service.
This is what I usually do when the situation requires a very long wait. Go back to the service center during peak hour, make sure that many people is around, pretend to be very frustrated and raise your voice almost to the point of shouting. Demand to see a more senior staff like the manager and keep your voice up and refuse to leave until you get a satisfactory response. Make sure that everyone is listening.....demand for a refund!!! ( so you can buy another xperia s). They can do it but only to a very unhappy customer. Also mention your friend is in the press. That will force them to exchange your phone one for one! It usually works for me. ( you might need to write your script and memorize it). Good luck!

i sent my xperia s white to the german sony service partner. it took about one month (4 1/2 weeks) until i got my device back. My story in short words:
- sent to service because of the yellow tint issue. Also wanted a refurbishment of the cover. Both, Sony and the Service Company told me that this is no problem and won't take longer than usual (3 business days).
- after first week I got a call. Refurbishment not possible. I would have to pay als the display exchange or I have to send it to them for one more time to do this. The Sony processes won't allow such a combination. The costs would be around 180€. I decided to not do a refurbishment. Just the display exchange.
- after second week they found out, that have no more exchange parts. I don't know why it took one or two weeks to order new spare parts.
- after third week they told me that they are not able to repair it, because they dont get any spare parts.
- i just had the device for a few days and then it was 70€ cheaper already. I got very angry because they wanted to send it back without any repair done. No display exchange, no refurbishment.
- It took me a lot of mails and a lot of calls until they changed their mind and in the fourth week they exchanged my display and cover (its now black) and after one month (4 1/2 weeks) i got finally my device back. Before I had it only 2 weeks and the device was 70€ cheaper after that time.
It seems that I am not the only one in Germany. Other people did get their devices back without any repair after they have already waited for a minimum of 2 weeks
Thanks for sharing this!
I pretty much had the same problem in Germany.
the service center received my phone on april 27, TODAY (may 23) I read that the phone has been repaired and been handed over to shipping.
Almost 4 weeks is not acceptable, I think, but I dont think we can do anything about it.
I shouldnt have sent it in for repair, I should have demanded a new phone...
Lesson learned
I used to manage a service center for another large company, and if we didn't have spare parts we'd exchange the product completely, seems like common sense to me..
Getting people to wait over a month is not gonna make them happy, especially if they paid 500€ for a brand new phone!

I sent my unit in for repairs. After two weeks, the didn't repair it but gave me a new unit. no more yellow tint.
However, I have heard many stories like yours from many brands in Italy.
If less than 10 days have passed, ask for "diritto di recesso".
(Next time get the car and come buy a new phone in Lugano, most of the times it's cheaper).

[Q] Does anybody else have the Geek Squad protection?

So today, after I just finished rooting my phone, stepped out to have a smoke. I walked and dropped my phone off a wooden stair and into a icicle puddle on an already present soft pile of snow. On the first hit the back flew off and then fell battery side first. It now won't turn on, so would best buy cover this?
My first thought is by protection you mean not letting them touch my phone, then yes
Being serious if their protection covers accidental damage they should be to swap it out no problem. If not and you have insurance on your phone go to a VZW store.
Neither place can tell if you are rooted/unlocked etc when the phone doesn't power up.
Yeah, they should replace it no problem. You'll be without your phone for several days, but that's about the worst of it. I used their plan for a couple of years with my Galaxy Nexus. Was pretty easy to work with.
Do they cover water damage though? I know assurian will not cover the device for water damage. They have those white stickers on battery and inside back of phone. When it gets wet it turns red. Not sure about best buy coverage but wanted to give you a heads up just in case. Sorry to hear about your loss that does suck.

I have the geek squad through best buy and I pay 9.99 a month. I had gs3 before this that I bought in august at best buy. They replaced my gs3 twice one after I flashed miui and my phone wouldn't make phone calls or texts and once after the head phone Jack stopped working. Both times they gave me brand new gs3 in store same night they normally send it out and you can get a loaner smart phone for $50 deposit but because refurbished gs3 was on back order they gave me it brand new. Just last week I flashed slim bean 4.2.1 and had the same problem wouldn't make phone calls and after factory reset it was stuck in roaming they couldn't fix it. I told them I had been trying to get Verizon to give me alternate replacement because id been dropping alot of calls and they said because it was gonna be my third replacement and twice it was the sane problem they could give me a credit for $ 699.00 for the full value of the phone and I could pick any phone At best buy so I had them price match Amazon wireless and they have me the note 2 for $699.00 and I just had to start my geek squad program from that date even though I airway payed for this month but I figured it's worth paying for the geek squad twice in one month to get a brand new note 2. So I would say if you have the coverage for 9.99 a month they should definitely replace it. It's just whether or not the on backorder. If the refurbished ones are not on backorder then they ll get you a refurbished in 5 days or so our they can try to fix your phone but that can take 2-3 weeks. ThIs is what they told me before they realized the gs3 was on backorder. How this helps sorry for long explanation. I would definitely recommend geek squad to any one buying a smart phone though because there is no deductible and unlimited claims. Also they told me they don't care if your phone if Is rooted they will still try to fix it or replace it.

Your experience is a huge exception to the rule. No store here will give you a new phone from their store stock, even if refurbs are unavailable ( it is against Best Buy policy). You simply wait. Is it possible you have connections in the store?
Even with me making a public spectacle of Best Buy's shady Black Tie protection, I didn't get a new phone in-store.

No connections at all. The guy asked me do you want to have your phone repaired(2-3 weeks) or do you want a rapid exchange(5 days) I agreed to have phone repaired so I would get the same phone back. He put it in the computer and he said it told him to do rapid exchange then he tried that and it told him to replace it in Store. I had no thoughts of getting a brand new phone it just Happened that way then the 2nd time I didn't mention getting a new one the first time and the same thing happened and it was a different employee. The 3rd time just recently when I got the note 2 I didn't mention any thing about previous new replacements and they offered me another new replacement but i explained the situation with Verizon and wanting an alternate replacement than he told me they could fulfill the plan and give me the credit and that's what I did this time also different employee than 2 previous times. but I definitely don't have connections

It will be covered. You'll have to wait about a week to get it back.
My suggestion is to always either break your phone to the max or damage the phone in away that you can restore to stock so no warranty issues arise.

Hogwash on whoever told you that.
The insurance is to cover things not covered by warranty.
For instance, dropping and breaking your phone voids the warranty. Naturally, Black Tie and other insurance comes into play then. If they didn't, that would be grounds for fraud on their part and many lawsuits would ensue.
The only things you need to worry about are what they don't cover according to their TOS.

Yeah they cover water damage ... its insurance. Like was stated it would open up a major can of worms if they had retarded stipulations.
Having worked for Best Buy Mobile for over 2 years now, I will share what GSP (Geek Squad Protection) means for you.
The plan is allowed only for phones purchased from Best Buy or a non-refurbished like-new iPhone not originally purchased from Best Buy. The plan is phone specific and can cover any phone Best Buy distributes.
Here is what the plan covers and the costs:
Covers:
Water Damage(full submersion and battery replacement)
Accidental damage, broken screen, hardware physicalities etc.
Software malfunctions/defects
Original purchased accessories included in phone packaging including earbuds, charger cable etc.
Unlimited Claims
No deductibles($0)
Loaner Phone coverage(some stores charge $50 deposits).
No commitment, can be cancelled by owner at any desired time
9.99 for smartphones/169.99 for 2 years outright
14.99 for iPhones/269.99 for 2 years outright
5.99 for basic phones/119.99 for 2 years outright
(if an outright plan is purchased, it can still be cancelled and prorated for months used as a refund).
Does not Cover:
Lost or Stolen Items
How it works:
Best Buy goes through a vendor known as Jabil to replace the phones made from service claims. Jabil is a facility that commisions the manufacturers to send parts to the facility to be manufactured back to original state OR send a completely new/already remanufactured device to Best Buy to return to you. The item is not classed "refurbished".
The process for the claim is 2-3 business days.
Exceptions:
If no phones are available on hand to be shipped in for the claim the item may be put on "backorder" where it may take 5-7 business days for it to be received.
If no phones are available and backorder is not an option, you may qualify for a substitute where you can choose an upgraded model of the current phone.
If the phone is not available to be backordered and no substitute exists, it is considered a repair which may take 1-2 weeks to return to the store. (it is the same unit that is sent to be repaired).
If any of these above conditions cannot be fulfilled or produce a working phone for you, Geek Squad "Junks-out" the phone (as stated in a post on the first page of this thread) where you get the full retail value of the phone when purchased to redeem in store on another phone.
I hope this clears up any misconceptions.

Staples Protection Plan for the Nexus 10

I'm looking at getting the Nexus 10 here pretty soon (possibly next paycheck) but I would very much like to play with it first. The idiots at Walmart can never give me a consistent answer if they have them or not and whenever I show up they have no idea what I'm talking about. So I called Staples and the guy said he's getting them in next week and sounded about as excited as I am (hooray for Techies!).
So I asked him about the protection plan and he said it is $84 for accidental damage coverage but he literally said that they cannot refuse me wanting a replacement or a gift card for compensation for any reason. He said it's basically in the terms of service that if I bring the tablet in and want a replacement (not like a 14-day refund/replacement though, but within a year) that they will replace it on the spot no questions asked. He even said basically "and when the new one comes out like a year from now you can bring it in and get a gift card for it and get the new one no problems."
That sounds amazing. That's like future-proofing my tablet for an extra 84 bucks. Anybody out there get one from Staples? And did you get the protection plan? Is it really how he described it? It almost sounds too good to be true but he sounded confident in it.
What do y'all think?

What you wrote does not agree with this:

While I am not sure it is needed, I got an extended warranty from Squaretrade for $60 after a 40% discount.

I'd read the fine print for yourself and make sure the guy isn't just trying to sell you a "warranty". I bought my Nexus at Walmart and initially bought the $44 protection plan. After getting home and actually reading it (I was too excited at the time that they actually had an N10 in stock) I went back to get a refund for it and they actually did it. Seems all it provided was a repair service.
If the Staples protection plan is what the guy explained, sounds like a good deal.

At the time, and perhaps still the case- discount coupons were being sold on Ebay for $1-$2. Also, if you "Like" Squaretrade on FB- they may still offer a discount- but then you risk upsetting your friends who may be hit with their ads.
Worth Avenue offers competitive prices as well. As indicated, one could make the case that these warranties are a waste of money- factoring in the cost of used devices as replacements in the second coverage year, existing manufacturer coverage- as well as any deductibles.

The way the warranty works at staples. You have 15 days with Staples from time of purchase to exchange or return your Nexus 10. After this you have the one year warranty with Samsung. If you purchase the protection plan with staples within 15 days of purchase of the Nexus 10 then this warranty begins when Samsungs ends.
If in the one year of protection under Staples after Samsungs warranty is up and you have a problem then you call the 1-800 number on the brochure they give you when you purchase your warranty. When you call them, you tell them it doesn't work (don't ask about repairt). Then will either Email or your send you the full purchase price(excluding tax) in form of a gift card to be used at Staples. You can take this gift card and purchase whatever at Staples even you if don't purchase another tablet.
The most important part of the protection plan is registering right after purchase. Call the number or go to the website listed and register the protection plan. Take the register and put in your Nexus 10 box and keep both for two years.

Ugh. Is this seriously how it works? That sucks. So I want the one that covers accidental damage (if it were to crack or something) but would that not kick in til one year after I have the tablet? If this is seriously how the plan works then that's dumb.
TBH I'm probably only going to have the tablet for a year and then get a newer model. Maayyybbeee longer.
Even the accidental one doesn't kick in til after samsung ends. So basically you can upgrade your tablet after one year.

I bought my Nexus 10 at Walmart specifically for the $44 protection plan. (I haven't picked it up yet - it's at a far-away Walmart. I'll get it on Sunday.) I thought it looked like a good deal - about the same terms as Square Trade, but for less than half the price. What's wrong with it? If the screen cracks or I spill tea on it, they will fix or replace it for me. And I don't have to deal with Samsung, even during the manufacturer's warranty period, which I've heard is unfun. Seems pretty good to me.

I think what everyone is talking about is that the protection plan is "good" but it doesn't kick in apparently til after the first year of having the tablet because there is already a year warranty from Samsung. If that's right though then it seems stupid because what happens if you crack your tablet before the year is up? Seems counter-intuitive
I have purchased the staples warranty on two items. One being a $200 chair which I called over a year later and they told me to toss it and sent me a gift card for $200. Used it to buy a canon digital camera. I tried claiming warranty on it but they asked what was wrong with it and to send it in for repairs. There was nothing wrong so I didn't send it in, just thought maybe they would send me a new gift card which they didn't. I'm not sure if I was under canon warranty at the time or not. Staples is suppose to get a shipment of N10s tomorrow and I may get the warranty with it since I have had success with it before with the chair.

Actually, this is incorrect. It takes effect from the moment you buy the plan, and you can only buy the plan within 30 days of buying the tablet. I bought it the same day. Here's the description (copied and pasted):

[Q] Has anyone ever had to send phone back to sony for repair

My phone is having some weird issue and I am trying everything to fix it. I have had it about a month and this issue randomly came up while listening to music. I have got it to start up normal once or twice but for now it turns on works fine but now wifi and no sim card for a couple of seconds. No wallpaper will be shown and it will reboot over and over again. Has anyone ever sent there phone back to sony and how does that work?
My Z Ultra had issues with the signal. I realized that after about a week. And it took me another couple of weeks to find time to take it to the Sony Service Center here in Bangalore, India. They said they will update firmware first to check. They called me after 4 days and found to my surprise they had replaced with a new Mobile.
So don't worry, go over to the nearest Sony Service Center and they will do what they can. My 2 cents.

Thank you very much!
Had to send my C6833 in cuz the screen cracked and I don't know how it happened! I was at the Bears/Giants game a while back and I used it to take a few pictures at the 2 minute warning. Decided to leave at 30 seconds remaining. Ended up getting split up from a buddy, so I opened the flip case and noticed I had three big cracks in the screen, rendering it COMPLETELY USELESS! Ordered a replacement screen on eBay from some retailer in California, only to receive an Xperia Z screen. The retailer told me that if it wasn't the right one, there's nothing they can do for me. Argued via email for about two hours to convince them to waive the restocking fee and sent it back. Ended up sending the phone to Sony and when they looked up my IMEI number, they told me it was manufactured in Singapore (warranty doesn't cover cracks either). It's been three weeks since I shipped it to them and they don't have any news on my phone til it gets fixed. In the meantime, I'm stuck using my lousy old Archos 80 G9, which likes to restart randomly all the time. #FirstWorldProblems

Used my Ultra (C6802) for a week after I bought it and the screen went blank during charging
Thought it was the screen of death bug, did a hard reset and the phone wont turn on at all
Sent the phone to sony for repairs and was told that my Ultra needs to change the whole motherboard
Got it back after a month and everything seems to be okay so far
Hope they sealed it back properly
** UPDATE ** 11/27 Received an email from Sony today (after not hearing anything for a month) and apparently, it's gonna cost me $355 plus tax to replace the front touch screen.

EDIT: Alright @IAmBrock. I'm back (not that you even noticed!), and i'm bored so i contacted Sony. I'm assuming you're in the US since you've owned a My Touch 4G (real detective work there!), so i got told that Sony has a Sony Mobile service center in Laredo, Texas. It takes up to 14 days to get something repaired (and shipped back to you) IF you have the US or Canadian model. Apparently it's not that easy if you have the international version. Don't ask me why, but my guess is warranty and all that

Got serious singnal problems.
will need to take my c6833 in
Should i unroot first?
this is a big problem for me since i have the latest firmware,
so if i unroot, i wont be able to root again :crying:

I think I have international version but it has been shipped to texas. I hopping it will only take 14 days but I think the lady said since it was manufactured in Singapore that it would take a fairly long time seeing they have to get the parts imported. I hope it will be here before christmas time actually way before. I miss my phone so bad that I have wasted 99.99 on an xperia mini pro from 2010 and 40$ on an HP veer from 2011. Don't ask me why. I just want my phone back so bad and going back to the samsung galaxy s2 is making it worse. It feels horrible now and I think it is having troubling holding a charge even though I just bought a new battery for it seeing my mom is using it now. Sony Xperia Z Ultra may not have the best battery but it is way better than my s2 before and after it stopped holding a charge. Thanks for contacting sony for me. It means a lot.
So far 3 weeks
After using my 6833 for 1 month lost control of the screen. It was working but it was doing what it wanted. Hard resets and on the phone to Sony didn't help. Sent the phone for repair 3 weeks ago. Every other day i call them and they say that the phone is UK version and that is why it take so much time to repair it here in Canada. They are waiting for some part. Wouldn't say about which one. No time reference for repair for non Canadian version. Theoretically it can take years. They wouldn't send replacement.
Honestly guys, i wanted bigger phone after my n7000 and note 3 wasn't big enough. Had huge hopes for Ultra. Now i deeply regret moving from samy to sony. May be i was just unlucky that my sony got broken BUT..... I spent 850 bucks on it when it just came out. Camera is ****! Software and xda development is poorer than samsung. And sony service is so bad. They should have sent replacement for me if they can't fix it fast.
Sony - big disappointment!
Next phone - back to Samsung.

1. You send a device that you've purchased from another country to a local(?) service center and expect it to be a quick fix (hint: warranty)
2. You've been unlucky. Go ahead and search the forum. You won't find another person with this issue.
3. You can't compare the Ultra with a Note. The Ultra is a niche device, so you can't expect millions of people to buy it; and therefore the lack of activity in the dev section (compared to the Samsung section)
4. Sony may have poor service, but don't tell me that Samsung is any better:
"Samsung tells customer to shut up about Galaxy S4 fire and they’ll swap his burnt phone"
And let's not forget the other S4 that went up in flames yesterday, and the S3 that exploded.. Oh wait, another S4 caught fire today! But wait, there's more! Faulty battery (S4)? S4s that won't charge? An S4 that melted over night? The S4 Active isn't waterproof?
And i'll stop here - right after this one where an S4 caught fire and took the owners apartment down with it
Samsung is sure making quality devices! I'd rather have a display defect than burning to death. That's just me though.
You are right, ive been just unlucky with my ultra. I just expected too much for the 850 bucks phone. Still don't understand what is the problem with the phone which i bought from the UK unlocked and with worldwide warranty. Why it should be a problem to repair it in any different country where Sony is in business? It took 3 days for the phone to be shipped to me when i bought it and it is taking 3 weeks (so far) for some part to be shipped). I treat myself with the new phone every year and loosing it for month or two it's a big deal for me. I have to use my wife's nexus 4 with that tiny screen now. Do you feel my pain?
About Samsung. Im sure they have some issues too but I didn't have any with my n7000 for 2 years. but it's just my personal experience.

Sure, i still have my N7000, and i've never had any issues with it, but i've never had any issues with my Ultra either. It's a lottery when we buy electronics. I can't see why they should use that much time on fixing it (you do have warranty), but i guess it's just some corporate bureaucracy **** their doing. The longest i had to wait was when i had the HTC Touch back in 2007. It took them 7 weeks to swap the motherboard.

I agree. You can be unlucky with any electronics.
If i bought some average phone for 200 bucks or so i may be expect average customer (warranty) service.
But if you buy one of the most expensive phone in the World you might wanna know if something goes wrong with it it will be done very fast or exchanged for new one.
I know it's different story but when my Samsung monitor got broken after 24 months of use (i had 36 month warranty from manufacturer. Not insurance) . They didn't even checked the monitor. The delivery guy came, brought refurbished working one and took my broken one away. End of story. I liked it a lot! It was in UK though.
