does some one knows all the times approximately of those 3 options ?
I have a feeling that my charger port is broken cuz' it takes too much time to charge via cable around 5 hours from 0 to 100%
Thanks in advance !

If charging with the official charger and fast charging is enabled in settings should fully charge in 2 hours approx from dead. A bit longer on wireless charging. Obviously will take ages to charge if plugged into a PC USB or non ogival charger.

More often than not, the salesperson will tell you to charge your battery for 8 hours on first time use. I was just wondering, since my wall socket adapter is not functioning well, do I still charge for 8 hours on USB? Or do I charge double the time considering USB charges at half the rate that of a wall socket plug.

It doesnt matter... the s3 itself cut the power once fully charged...!
and USB charging takes much more time than wall socket for sure..
Hello all, I just bought a Xperia Ray, and it's kinda weird that when it's 40 percent, and I connect to my laptop it takes about 2 hours to get to 90 percent, but when I use the wall charger, it takes 5 hours only to get to 80 percent!!! And I've tried it a lot so far, it's the same story...anyone knows the reason?!

The wall charge is not supplying enough current. Many are very poor performers. I charge mine with my wife's Blackberry tablet charger and that provides a steady 2 amps @ 5 volts. Most cheap wall chargers provide less than 400ma @ 4.5 volts.
interesting...so charging with the laptop will not hurt the battery in the long run?!

Not at all. The charging circuit on the Ray will handle whatever is fed into it (up to a point). The laptop USB provides a higher and more stable voltage at the required amperage than the wall charger does so the Ray charges quicker. Finding a decent USB wall charger is actually not that easy. Most are garbage.

Hi,
I did not understood your question. is your question is "is 3-4 hours is normal charge time for your phone?
I have the 9205 MEGA 6.3 and it looks like this is about the right charging time with the original power supply (Charger).
I check on the samsung USB charger and this is a 5v / 250Ma chargeur. I replaced the charger by a old USB Blackerry charger 5v / 500Ma and it is charging now in less than 3 hours.
Did somone try a 1A charger to see if it is faster??
Thank you.
use a samsung charger
When u use a samsung charger with it. Charging is faster. I for one use the plug alone with by blackberry usb (cos its longer) but if I use any other charger. .. thats some pretty slow charging id be experiencing so I go everywhere with the charger in my backpack
LosNaija
Usually mine charges fully in 2 his or less.

Just got my ZU yesterday. I noticed that charging was exceptionally slow when I was charging from USB port to phone - I was getting warning messages telling me the phone was draining faster than charging while I was doing trivial things and it took many, many hours to go from 0 to 70% or so.
However charging rates seem a lot faster when I plug the USB into AC power - haven't timed it but I'd hazard a guess it's close to 2 hours for a full charge which seems to what a lot of people say is "normal" for them.
So my question is is USB charging meant to be like this? And if not is there something I can do to rectify it?

Yes this is near normal, although I have only seen that warning once or twice when charging on USB
When charging on the wall/AC the phone will charge at about 1300 - 1400 mA, you hace a 3000mAh battery so a full charge will take just over 2 hours
When charging on USB the max the phone can draw is 500mA, so will take 3 times longer, so well over 6 hours - with out use.
**Normal usage is about 200 - 400mA at about 1/2 screen brightness and just web browsing, full CPU/GPU/screen will probably draw about 600 - 800mA from the battery
the last point ** is from memory so could be a little out
Thanks for the reply. It's wierd because I never noticed an issue like this with my Note (I'm assuming you're saying the limitation is the USB port not the phone perse).

500mA is a USB limitation although some computers can supply more.

I got told by someone I was chatting with that supplying 500mA means the USB port is compliant to USB 2 specifications. However apparently devices can request more from the port which will supply that if it's able - I don't know if this is the case but this does fit in with the fact that I never noticed the slower charging with Samsung devices.

My usb 3.0 port can give more power but phone still charges only with 500mA.

Yeah this guy was saying the device actually has to request the additional current - I'm just going on what he says, I have no idea as to it's correctness.
It is some thing like that.

I am posting here for first time. This issue was present when I got this device then one day I flashed ancient os rom and elinder kernel . Surprisingly my device started charging fast full in about 2 hours. After that I changed the rom to colt os 6.0 without elinder kernel. Same full charge in 2 hours . After few random reboots and about a weeks usage I decide to install evolution X for which I took the usb out of the charger and put it in my laptop to transfer the file. After flashing I put it back in the charger and checked charging current it was around 300-400ma about 4% charge in 10 mins. I restored my backup but no avail. Then I flashed havoc os 3.5 I get 4%/10 mins but after I install ancient os I get around 32%/ hour . If please anyone would help me it would mean a lot thanks . And I really hate 4 hours charging time.
I'm aslo stucked:highfive:
Try charging with original charger and USB cable, if you are already charging with original one try with different USB and charger.
See if there is any lint or dust in charging port or USB cable that may also slow downs the charging.
Try flashing elinder kernel again.
Clean flash again (do backup everything)
And lastly it might be related to battery since device is already 4 years old(not sure about your device's age). lithium ion battery does degrade over time so that might be causing slow charging.
sometime i do also get slow charging but thats related to USB cable in my case, i need to adjust USB in specific direction to charge fast. but weird thing is i use same USB and charger in other devices and it charges with good speed without any USB adjustments.
Fix
If any one is wondering if i fixed the issue yes i did seems that if i use a 9v 1.5a charger the phone charges to 90% in 1 hour 40 min on ancient os 3.5. using any other charger delivers only about 800ma and my phone charges in 3 hours. I have also tried samsung a71 28 watt charger but the phones does not charge even 1% in 5 minutes using that charger.

Kenzo is strictly made for 5V 2A charging. If u keep on using high volt charger then u will blow diode on charging board and will stop charging.
