I like my screen to always be on when I am charging the phone, mostly becuase I drive a lot and it sucks to have the screen go off when you are using google maps. I seem that I have to keep changing the "screen always on" in the developer mode section in settings. Has anyone else been able to make this change stick?
I definitely had that option checked when I set up my phone after flashing beans v3 but when I went to check just now it was not selected. I guess I have the issue too, apparently.
Update: I just restated my phone and the option is unchecked again. Definitely not sticking after reboot for some reason.

I use the app *My Settings Pro* to set the screen to never time out whenever I have the phone docked in my truck.
It stays on until I set the screen timeout to 30 seconds & put it in my pocket.
There is a free app in the market called "Screen On"
It allows you to set the screen to stay "Always On" by a per app basis
So for example you can only select Google Maps and the only time the screen will stay on is when you are in Google Maps, etc..
My phone has been doing this since day one after reboot stay awake is unchecked I just use tasker now.

It mildly annoying. I like the screen on when its charging so I can just glance for notifications without touching it, or in the car mount. I guess I can just use my NFC tags for now.
Just a suggestion, but you guys may want to be careful how long you keep your screen lit while charging.
I had my old G3 set to never go out while charging (it was on all night at times) and now it shows some nasty screen burn-in on any white screen (like the gmail background).
Any time it is on a white BG, you can clearly see a gost image of the home screen and the clock widget/icons etc.etc.
I have a similar issue. I set the checkbox to always on when connected via USB directly after setting up the phone for the first time and now it's always on is re-on when deselect it and go to the settings again afterwards.
Could it be some side effect / conflict caused by some powerful apps like "NFC task launcher" or something like that who can change settings as well as the settings dialogues?
I found that a lot of the time, when I take my phone out of my pocket and open the flip cover, double tap to wake doesn't work.
I played around with this a lot and I've figured out that if I wait a few seconds after flipping back the cover, double tap works.
If I leave the phone out on my desk with the flip cover open, double tap always works.
So the problem seems to be that the flip cover of my case is blocking the sensor (proximity?) on the face of the phone. I guess that sensor needs a few seconds of light before it wakes up and recognizes the double tap to wake.
My question is - how can I change this? I'd like the sensor to stay awake all the time so that I can double tap the screen the instant I flip open the flip cover.
Any ideas? This seems like maybe something the xposed framework could do with the right module.
I don't think it relies on light at all.
My phone works with knock code in the dark just fine.
Also, doesn't opening a circle case usually turn the screen on?

I can confirm that covering up the light sensor with your thumb for a few seconds while the screen is off prevents Knock-on from working even after multiple attempts. Mine allowed knock-on to work instantly after removing my thumb. So I'm not sure about the OP's problem.
I can't get my phone to automatically hibernate with a flip cover. Everything works fine if the phone goes to sleep by itself or is turned off with the cover off. Is there anything I may do ?
Suddenly, the quick cover does not lock my phone anymore.
When I close it, the screen remains active and when screen timeout ends, instead of turning on the "Always on", the screen shuts off completely.
However, if I lock the phone with the back button and do not close the cover, "Always on" remains correctly active.
The problem remains after even after a "Factory data reset".
Do you have any suggestions for me?
Thank you!!!
It seems, that the Always on Display isn't always on, when using the Smart View Flip Case.
When I close the Flipcover, then the displayed time, etc. go off after few seconds.
NFC is on and the smart case option with window is enabled.
Without the case, the always on display is off only, when something hiding the light sensor.
With the smart cover, when the flpcover hides it, the display is off.
Is there any option, that enables the AOD with the flipcase?

I tried
Same for me with the same case
Wow....too bad I didn't see this before ordering my case. Just received it today, and experiencing the same issue. AlwaysOnDisplay is clearly marked as enabled, but the smart cover only displays info for a few seconds and then goes off. Is there not a switch somewhere to make this cover stay on? I don't really care how often I need to recharge the device, so saving battery is not an issue for me. I want to be able to simply glance at the phone's smart cover and quickly see what I need to know without touching the phone. Oddly enough, without the smart cover, the AOD works just fine. Guess the "smart cover" is not too smart after all.
Flip case
I have the same problem. I contacted Huawei who said that their sample didn't have the same issue and the display is always on in the case window. I haven't been able to find a retailer with a Mate 10 Pro to test whether this is a problem with the case or with the phone.
Same issue on the P20 Pro / Smart Cover, have tweeted them but expect little response.
Same Problem with the mate 10 pro
Guys, there is a setting for it disabling screen if put in your pocket. the phone thinks the case is in your pocket. Try turninf off the Touch Disable mode switch located under smart Assistance. that or try the smart cover settings.
