I am sure this issue is somewhere on the forum, but I am unable to find it. I have had some charging issues with my Galaxy Tab s10. My husband has bought both a battery and a usb port but I'd like to check here before we crack it open.
There are a few things going on:
Tablet charges to a point then stops
Tablet won't charge at all
Tablet flashes on and off while charging
Recently I let it die completely, it then charged to 100% but now all of the above is going on
I have tried a different micro usb, a different wall charger, letting it die and recharging (which let it go to 100% but problems still happening)., I tired wiping and factory reset...
I understand that the charger is pretty specific to the tablet so a generic one likely won't cut it. I am hoping to figure out what could be going on here.
Any feedback is appreciated.
Found Solution
So after more digging I found a solution on another forum, so simple. Everything is normal again. I thought I'd share in case anyone had a similar issue.
"Try holding all the buttons (volume up and down, and power) in at the same time for about ten seconds while the device is plugged into the charger.
This seems to reset the tablet and its charging circuit.
You may have to allow it to charge some more after that before it will power on.
The lithium ion batteries in these tablets aren't designed to be completely drained, and doing so can damage them."

So last night before I went to sleep, my NT had about 40% battery life left in it. I'm currently running the final alpha build of CM7. I've been experiencing really bad wifi loss issues and have kept the 'Never' option enabled under the wifi sleep policy (thinking that would help hold the connection).
I woke up to find the NT was turned off. Figured that was odd as I was only asleep for about 5hrs. I turned it on and then noticed it got into the OS and then died. I did see the battery icon was red briefly.
I then plugged it into the wall and it was boot looping. I saw the 'n' logo pop up, screen went black, 'n' logo, etc. etc.
After numerous attempts of holding down the power button for 20+ seconds, holding power+vol down for 10 seconds, plugging it with or without an sd card into the wall and computer, nothing is happening.
The computer does see something as I'm hearing the common connected/disconnected tone from the USB port. Now I'm noticing that plugged into the wall, the 'n' on the cable stays orange. It never turns green.
Did it go 'poof' in the night somehow?
[EDIT] Ok after leaving it plugged into the wall for about 15mins, it suddenly turned on but had a google framework FC error. Yeah, not sure what I should do at this point. It appears to be charging...
It's been noted by others that if the power level goes below 15% you mustn't turn the device off if you don't have the original charger nearby. If it dies you need to charge it with the original charger for a bit before it'll power back up.
I assume this means that you can't run it off the cable while you've got a completely dead battery. That kind of stinks but isn't too surprising, a lot of devices are like that.
So does that mean that if the device is <40% of battery I need to plug it in if I won't be around it for a while? Not sure I'm cool with that. Battery life was great all day yesterday but somehow it dropped 40% in under 5hrs while asleep.
I can't really say much as I haven't dealt with it personally. People were talking about it in a couple threads about the NT's charger and unique 12 pin cable.
Here's what I understand from what I've read:
You can run it until it's empty all you like. You'll just need to use the Nook's factory charger (or a compatible 2A charger with bridged D- and D+ pins) AND (this is the important one) the factory USB cable to charge it.
If you run it until it dies you have to charge it for a little while before it'll turn on again, BUT you have to use the original cord and charger. It won't charge off of a regular micro USB cable nor will it work if you're using a 2A or smaller charger that doesn't have the middle two pins bridges (the Apple UBS chargers won't work nor will your PC's USB ports, for example).
The NT will charge, albeit slowly, if connected with a third party cable or USB charger (without the data lines D- and D+ bridged), but not if the device's power has been depleted.
So I suspect something sucked up a lot of juice while you weren't using your NT. Not a huge deal, but definitely annoying. Plug it in for 15 minutes and you can get rolling again.... BUT only if you're using the original charger and cable. Lovely isn't it? It's not a huge problem but it is annoying. I wish you could at least use the device with a dead battery while plugged in.
I just mention the charger/stock cable thing because I'm sure someone will probably see this post in the future and may be having that particular problem resuscitating their NT.
Cool, yeah I don't specifically set out to run it down to zero but since the device is clean with minimal stuff running in the background, it's difficult to know when this might happen again. I assumed I'd wake up with like 20-25% battery left. The framework FC is also something I'm concerned about but maybe it was just a fluke.
Ah well, really do appreciate your input and I'll be sure to keep the stock cable/adapter on hand when I'm on the go.
Battery showed fully charged, I rebooted to do another CWM backup and then when it came back up it showed 84% charged. Lol. And this pic made me laugh even more. Time to get that lady from Poltergeist involved I think...
The Google Framework force close is typical of stock rooted NTs. I don't believe it ever did any harm to anything though. Just that it sometimes appears on reboot.
I'll ask one additional question as to not make another topic since it's related.
Opinions on battery calibration with the NT? That was one of the reasons I didn't charge it last night as I wanted to fully run it down and then fully charge it back up. Does the NT require this with a new rom install? That pic above shows the battery gauge clearly wasn't correct initially.
Your battery is draining overnight because wifi is running the whole time (as you stated in your first post).

That's what I obviously thought of at first but it didn't drain nearly as much when I was using it throughout the day. The only thing I can think of is maybe the fuel gauge itself was wrong from the start, which refers back to my calibration question.
My GS2 has the sleep policy set to 'Never' as well and only loses maybe 7-8% after being asleep for around 7-8hrs and it certainly uses more juice in sleep due to the cell communication, etc.
Hello,
I have Galaxy S2 and having some charging issue. Yesterday, when I plugged it in the wall charger, it didn't get charged (i.e. even the flash on battery was not coming up) and when I tried to restart the phone, it powered off but didn't switch on. I tried holding the power button to turn it on but it didn't. So, I pulled out the battery and left the cell for some time like 20 mins or so. After re-inserting the battery, it turned on but still was not getting charged. I tried to change the USB cable as well but nothing helped. I then tried to charge it via my Laptop it actually started the charging process but with error on Laptop saying "USB Device not recognized".
Today, I tried the wall charger again and here's I found something: when my phone is ON and I plug it in the wall charger it doesn't charge but as soon as I turn the phone OFF, my phone starts getting charged (Battery image comes on screen which usually comes when the phone is off). So, that's how I am charging my phone.
I went to the repair shop today, he said it's a charging port issue on which I have some doubts that why it is even charging in this way if it's a port issue. I just want to make sure if whatever he's saying can be somewhat true.
Can you please help me out? I would be really thankful to you.
I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Thank you!
PS: I tried to search about the port issues but I couldn't find anyone having this kind of issue so please!
The issues you have mentioned really do all point to a faulty USB board......it is common (with a faulty board) for some functionality to work while other functionality is lost. The part itself costs pocket change and is reasonably easy to DIY replace......
If you want to go down that path, check my profile for threads I've started.....you'll find a guide explaining exactly how to do it.
Just make sure to read and note the section on 'rev versions' it is VERY important to get the correct one......
My wife says I'm a phone geek....She's probably right
Dug out my trusty Z3TC 16GB WiFi to browse the web and its dead and refuses to charge on 4+ different chargers. Won't respond to power+vol up or show any activity.
Software was fine when I last checked, running CM12.1 and no issues.
Anyone see a similar issue and know if the battery is likely to have failed or something more fundamental?
I'm ordering a pogo pin charger to see if that works, had a couple in the past but the connecting wires in the stand broke.

Happened to me. Try this: NEVER LET IT GO FULLY DEAD

Yup, saw that thread. Looks like I'm out of luck as I certainly can't resolder any of the components.
did u try with a quick charger?
Peace to all
I've tried most chargers and I have a lot of them, including original chargers for Z3 and Z4. Even trickling on a slow charger should recharge after 24 hours but nothing.
Wish I'd remembered to keep it charged, can't even get a bootloader up.
Try this??
Press the volume up button and power button together for 10 seconds. This should cause your device to vibrate 3 times and then show the battery charging screen.
Nope, I've tried all of these already. Probably need to open it.
weird dude.as far I know,li-on batteries need to fully discharged once in 30 charges.I made it once (it closed from battery) but nothing weird happened to me.I am always on KK 4.4.4
or u can try press the tiny reset button near to usb port.here says that nothing is being erased.

Good news! Thanks to everyone here who convinced me to persevere and not sell this tablet as broken!
For 4 days I have been charging the tablet and trying power+vol button combinations a couple of times each day and finally, on day 4, I was able to first get a red led. After the led went out about 10 mins later I tried vol+power again and got the emergency battery graphic plus red led. Led went out after ten mins again and had to use vol+power. Seemed to go a bit strange at that point and charging halted. Swapped chargers and waited.
Next time was the trick, got red led, it went out and I was able to get the normal, smaller charging graphic. Let it get a couple of % for safety and hit power, resulting in a full boot. Tablet is booted at 4% and charging OK.
Thanks to everyone that helped out.
glad to hear!so can u tell us the working process so just us to know just in case?....
Peace to all

Exactly as per above, keep repeating the power & vol- sequence and putting on charger for a few hours. Exact brand of charger doesn't seems to matter, the one it worked on was a no-name two-socket UK plug charger from Amazon. Obviously a 2A+ charger will help. The cable used was a generic Samsung 1m (3ft) lead.
Just repeat the process and leave it on the charger in between. I'd recommend not charging a unit like this unattended in case the battery is damaged and there's a battery failure, I've seen a lipo fire and they're ugly.
Thanks dude!enjoy the best tablet! ?
Peace to all
Dude glad you got it working. I love mine but i have it rooted. hoping that the latest stamina battery return update is rootable
Hello,
I have a non-rooted, stock Lenovo A7-10 tablet which has been totally drained of its battery, not charged for a week, and now when I plug in the charger it stays in the logo bootloop and continuously restarts while vibrating. Is there any way to restart it without poking around with a screwdriver like in all the google results? It is also out of warranty.
Thanks.

you don't need a screwdriver to open the tablet and unplug the battery if needed, only a nail is needed
When it happened to me, with this tablet and some other one, i started the charge with an external battery, then after a while i could charge it normally.
Some other guys have found different methods, i never had to use, such as pluging/unplugging charging cable numerous times until it starts to charge.
Charging it with an external battery magically worked, thank you so much for your help. Everyone else kept saying you needed to unscrew the cables that charge the battery after removing the hood but that seemed overkill. Now it is fixed.
For anybody else that finds this thread and experiences the same problem, you don't necessarily need an external battery, there's nothing magical about them ... Also, probably not just any external battery would be up for the task.
What you need is a power supply (can be an AC adapter, as well as an external battery) that's strong enough - a 2 Ampere supply seems to do the trick.
The original power supply provided with the A7-10 is rated at only 1A - which apparently isn't enough to push a flat-lining A7-10 beyond the initial boot.
Shame on Lenovo for not addressing this common real-life situation.
For people lacking a 2A power supply (or stronger), you could try the procedure described in this thread. It's for a different hardware, but it might work (I haven't tried it, personally).
What other battery did you use for charging?

Hello again xda members. If you guys know who I am you'll know I love Azpen Tablets bought from MicroCenter. A few years ago myself and others provided the community with a solution to "unbrick" the Azpen A727 and following I had mad a step by step tutorial on how to get the A727 working again.
For about 6 months I have had trouble with my Azpen A1023 10inch Tablet I bought from Microcenter a few years back on sale for 60 bucks. The issue with it is it will not charge at all, it wont even turn on when I have it plugged in to a USB charger. Ive tried multiple things. Holding down the power button for 30 seconds to do what i heard is a power cycle, holding down the power button and the home button for 30 seconds, trying different USB wall chargers with 500ma 800ma, and 2A. And it absolutely does nothing.
Now I am assuming it is a completely depleted battery since I left it unused for a few months since I realized I had this problem. I went from the A1023 working fine to not using it for a few months and it not coming on or charging at all. Now I heard if you leave a tablet that has a completely dead battery (in which all its cells are depleted, not your battery dying) and you plus it into a USB port that has low milliamps (ex. Computer USB 2.0 port (500ma)) overnight or for a day then the low trickle of power for a long period of time should bring the battery back to life. I am actually trying that method right now as we speak. Im going to attempt to bring my tablet battery back to life by leaving it plugged in my computers USB 2.0 for at least 24 hours. Also I heard of unplugging the battery from inside a tablet and replugging it back in sometimes helps this problem, but when I opened my Azpen A1023 up I come to find that the battery is soldered to the mainboard with some wire. Worse comes to worse I'll snip the wires and re-solder them, tell me what you guys think.
I'll let you know how it goes!
P.S. If I need to be corrected for something I said (ex. calling it a "depleted" battery) feel free to correct me because when I do threads on any site I try to be as professional and direct and legitimate as possible. Also to let you guys know, any help and any solution that is found or steps to a solution you will be credited for you help when I edit this post for a final tutorial on how to fix it.
So I had my Azpen A1023 plugged into my desktop computers USB 2.0 port at 500mA I believe for 36hours and still its not turning on. Ill leave it plugged in for a week to see what happens. And of course the PC is on and I shut off advanced power setting of selective USB power or whatever its called. Anyone have any input?
So I decided to open up the A1023. I unsoldered the battery from the motherboard left it for 20min and resoldered it back to the mobo to see if that helped . still nothing, wont charge or turn on. Any ideas?
Azpen tablet not charging.
Did u ever get it charging. If u did how
