The status bar in Marshmallow - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've noticed in the Marshmallow update that the status bar is now grey when you have power saver on. Why?! I always leave my phone in power saver unless I'm playing games. It used to be transparent or, match the general color of what ever app you had open. Is there an easy fix for this? Or is this just one of those things they changed for the sake of changing them that will require a custom rom to get around? I always hate these little things that are just annoyances that come with every android update.

It was something that changed. But also same as xda developers on chrome makes the bar orange is a change in MM but does help with burn in a little.
Would need root or custom rom to remove.

[Q] Any way to reduce font in the Notification Shade?

Does anyone know of a way to reduce the font in the notification shade? The font that Samsung uses is driving me crazy; it's way too big and I can barely see half of my notifications at one time. It kind of gets rid of the whole point of the notification shade...one place to quickly see all notifications. I've tried adjusting the font sizes in the settings, but doesn't affect the notification shade and I haven't found any apps or mods that are able to change it. I'm running a rooted stock rom.
Any luck?
I know this is an old thread but was wondering if you had found a workaround?
Thanks

[Q] Avoiding Android notification previews

Howdy, folks!
I've been using Android for a long time, and one particular behaviour bugs me. I've spent about a week googling around, sifting through the forums, looking for hacks or an Xposed module, and I can't track down anything.
When a new notification fires, the top bar momentarily shifts to show a preview of that notification. It might be as simple as a title-less notification that some app has turned itself on, or it might be a preview of a new message from some application. Regardless of what the contents of the notification are, the whole top bar momentarily stops displaying all of its icons, the clock, and anything else in order to show some of the text from the notification.
I'd like to stop this behaviour. Let me clarify; I don't care about modifying the contents of the notifications, I don't care about what shows up on my lockscreen, and I don't want to block notifications from showing up at all. I just want them to simply appear in my notification center and for the top bar to simply *poof* have another icon in it for the new notification.
I haven't been able to find any leads on this anywhere. I don't know if it's worth my time developing a little app to try to block this behaviour, or if someone has done it already. If anyone has suggestions, I'd be thrilled to hear them.
I'm using a rooted Galaxy S5 G900V on Verizon, running AllianceRom's KitKat release, though apart from the root access I don't think any of that should matter.
Thanks!

On Pie and rooted. Is there any way to fix the "4 status bar icons max" issue?

On Pie and rooted. Is there any way to fix the "4 status bar icons max" issue?
Hello! I've searched far and wide and have read tons of complaints about this issue, but no resolutions. Those complaining posts I found were from several months ago, so I was hoping maybe a resolution came about.
It seems as though for whatever reason (possibly due to phones now having notches), Google has made it so there can be no more than 4 notification icons in the system tray. This is extremely aggravating to me. I typically have my weather app showing me the temperature in the status bar, and now I can't see that any more without swiping down. I also have no idea if I have a new notification from eBay because Wunderlist and my text notification icon take up those spaces.
There is PLENTY of room on my status bar for more notifications, so this stupid "dot" is annoying me to no end. My phone is rooted. Is there any way to double the height of the status bar so I can see all my notifications? Or if that's not an option, is there a way to just tell Android Pie to behave like Oreo and just show me all of the notification icons it can fit in my status bar?
Again I am rooted, on Pie, on an original Pixel XL, so I am hoping there's some answers out there for me, but I am not finding anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Changing color, activation of Notifications?

On the S6, when I swipe down from the top of the screen, the giant notification window shows up. This is marginally annoying normally since my home page background is 14% neutral gray, but EXTREMELY annoying at night when I'm reading on the tablet and accidentally cause the notifications to display... My bookreader is a dark-mode setup, and the notifications are blinding white when they display (yes, the screen brightness is about 10-12, but compared to the reader it's blinding)...
I've currently got the tablet in Night mode, which makes the giant notification thing black, so it's not as annoying, but it still keeps getting displayed 'cause of hand position and tablet orientation. And Night mode isn't great for "normal" use so I much prefer something that'll actually help with the notification display.
SO....
Is there a way, even if I have to use a different launcher (I'll need to know which one) to CHANGE the background color of the notification thing (and hopefully the navigation bar background)? I tried Nova Launcher, and it has things that SEEM like they should do something, but they don't change the huge white blob that appears when I swipe down.
Is there a way to CHANGE how notifications get displayed - turn OFF the swipe down from the top of the screen and use something else? If so, how do I set this up? "Do Not Disturb" mode doesn't seem to help.
Is there a way to COMPLETELY turn OFF notifications so swiping does nothing. I can't FIND anything in settings, but I figure I'm missing the "turn off notifications" switch.
I'm also interested in what answers may come. For me it's just about the color; even though I'm dark-themed everywhere using "Swift Installer - Themes & color engine", it doesn't theme the notification panel. Since the theme works everywhere else (even on system apps), this makes me think that 'notifications' is a special case, for some reason.
Curious to hear from others.
Have you tried QuickStar inside of GoodLock app from the Samsung Store? there are lots of mods you can do in there like change the color of the notification pull down.
Thanks. That works pretty well. I can change all the colors on the notification so at least the notification is a black background.
Status bar at the bottom is still bright but that's smaller than the big notification thing. Definitely makes me miss the old Android 6 thing where it just put a couple tiny icons at the top and I had to specifically hit them to see notifications. Never accidentally opened the notifications.
Is there any way to CHANGE the activation for the notifications so they DON'T show up when I don't want them to?

Hide DND-Icon in status bar in Android Pie

Hello,
in Oreo I could just tap hold the text and disable the notification, iirc. In Pie I just get the info that notifications from this app can't be disabled (System UI). I tried System UI Tuner as well but it didn't work as well.
Did anybody achieve this already?
@ChazzMatt
Could you please drop some knowledge?
I have Do Not Disturb activated at all times so I don't need to be informed about it.
I stayed on stock rooted Oreo, so have no day to day knowledge of LG Pie quirks. Sorry.
However, on a similar note, I reverted back to older version of some apps (My Data Manager being one) -- where newer versions insisted upon putting an icon up in the notification bar area when they are running. That particular app runs all the time and I have a widget on my pull down bar which tells me my monthly data total at any moment. I know it's running in the background, but I don't want to see an icon all the time up in the area where NOTIFICATIONS go. Keeps making me think I have new mail, a new text, something....
Up until about the time Pie came out, I could manually disable the notification bar "badge". With updated versions of the app I could not. So, I reverted to older version from APK Mirror on mine, my wife's, my mother's phones and UNchecked auto update on Google Play for that app.
There's other apps where I stay on older versions for functionality reasons.
Thank you for your insights!
Seems like I should have stayed on Oreo.
On another note I fiddled around with Automagic and was able to hide notifications for the system app System-UI altogether, but that also hides some other notifications I'd like to keep. But it shows that it should be possible. In SystemUI Tuner you can add custom tweaks if you know the right variables and values. Maybe someone knows where one can find the right values.
The solution that I'm using now is setting a custom sleep duration via System UI Tuner to 9999 and only having to worry every few months about it.
Does anybody know what's the maximum duration?
