When i updated Android to 5.1.1 on OTA for my Xperia Sony Z2 a few months ago, my phone started to have some problems with audio call, especially the person who receive call can not hear me clearly.
I came to some phone store and check my phone and they found the problem comes from updated software, so they changed it down to Android 4.4, then every thing would be ok at that time.
The second time, I automatically updated it to Android 5.1.1 again on OTA and hoped that it wouldn't have problem that time, but it falled to the same problem before.
After that, I started to use Xperia firmware v.4.8.2 on this website and Flashtool 0.9.20.0 to set up 5.1.1 again to my phone by PC. But the problem of audio call still couldn't be solve.
Please help me to find and solve this problem,
Thanks so much!
Jolie Dam.

Yeah I do have the same issue. From 5.1.1 to 6.0.1, my microphone seems not working (sometimes it works but I have to shout a bit so the other person could hear me). Flashed different rom from other regions by flashtool, enabled/disbaled Sound Recorder app... sometimes it works but most of the time, it doesn't.

Yes, It's so tired of shouting whenever call someone.
I did set up follow my phone's market regions but may be the problem came from some other reasons.
I too have this issue with my z2.
I tried this solution
Try to turn off microphone noise supression in Settings >> Call >> Microphone noise suppression Off
After this other person on the call can hear me better.
@monty: Thanks so much for your tip, I've set up my phone again by Sony PC Companion, then set noise suppression Off, and, the result is ...lalala... I've done!
I tried some call and the sound is so good, that' so great ^^ <3

Recently I am experiencing a problem with my Xperia Sola. I can call & receive call but I don't get any sound. I can only talk with loudspeaker turned on. When I first faced the problem, I reset my phone. Then it worked fine. Next day the problem started again. I again reset the phone but nothing happened. Then I re-installed the OS but nothing happened.
I just want to know that, is the problem in hardware or software?

Not in the correct sub forum.....
It should be in Q&A section......
Provide more details like which Rom are you on currently etc.....
Sent from my Xperia Sola using xda app-developers app
Please provide the details for your mobile!!
My theories:
Usually when you remove the connected headset (earpiece), it does happen sometime.. just give a test call without earpiece and during call plug it in..
Also check your sony smart connect preferences...
but still need details from your end.

Hi,
I've been searching for a solution for this problem for several days now, and couldn't find anything useful.
Hopefully you guys can help me.
Here's what happens - Most of the time, I can't hear anything during a call (doesn't matter if it's outgoing/ incoming). Sometimes everything is just fine.
Also, sometimes the network drops in the middle of a call or right after the call ends.
Another thing - if I tap on numbers in the dial pad, the other side of the call hear the sound, but in slight delay and a bit distortion.
On the first couple of days using CM, everything was fine, then then phone couldn't make calls, and couldn't hear incoming calls.
My IMEI and SN are correct.
Some of the background story is missing because my father had the phone with him for a year or so, and the problem might have started after an attempt for OTA update.
I've tried:
1) mute/unmute, turn on speaker, noise reduction, etc...
2) flashing a couple of Samsung-stock ROMs (both 4.1.2), and one older version of CM (9.1, 4.0.4).
It's a I9300, and right now it's running 4.1.2 JZO54K, XXEMG4.

Hello everyone,
Just got my S3 ( i9300 ) and surely enough flashed it to latest cm stable from their website which is 10.2.
Everything works, but I have this strange issue with incoming calls. When i answer the call, I cant hear the other person through the front speaker. I need to enable the back speaker and disable it to get sound on the front one. Sometimes the sound would be distorted. This does not happen on outgoing calls, they work perfectly fine.
I later flashed kitkat nightly and it had the same issue.
Problem goes away if i recover to stock. Unfortunately, i can't stand the damn thing.
Baseband v: I9300XXUGMK6, which is the newest for my region and also seems to be most common.
I tried googling, but couldnt find this specific glitch.
Any suggestions would be appriciated.
Thanks
Same problem, same story

I had the 2.4.5 installed and had to switch because of the issue, so i switched to archidroid 1.x version and problem was gone, now on archiport(ultimarom beta1) the problem is there again. Thats real sad because the rom is such awesome
So i think sammy had done something in their 4.3 version that fixed that

That's really odd, since I've been using Archi ever since I first flashed it ( at the time I believe it was 2.3.x ), and I'm a happpy user since then.
try dialing outgoing call to whatever number a couple of times and then get some incoming calls?
And yes, Archidroid is awesome, has everything you could possibly want ( the only exception being MHL )

After i had a go with Omni, I can't think of any reason why should I switch back to CM. Arhci mentioned CM's support and developer base as a reason for the switch, will see...
I use my phone at work quite heavily and it's just impossible for me to switch back and forth speakers.
Found something interesting in kryten2k35 thread... Will report

Hello friends i need help with my Z2 . I update my Z2 with official update and after that i can't speak with nobody . I need speak loud and they
hear me very low . Before update microphone is good . I test in settings microphone and he is good . Only in GSM calls it's problem. SIM card is NEW change 2G/3G network , make hard reset from settings after update , use Xperia Companion for repair , change city and it's same ,mic sensitivity is AUTO (i try with high) , slow talk is OFF ..you can see that i try all and BEFORE Update phone was good but after ..and my WI FI is low but priority for me is microphone becase i have now unusable phone for calls. I can't send my phone to xperia support becase i live in Bosnia and Herzegovina and we don't have "support company" .
Can somebody help me ? Or i need just wait new update in future but I'm afraid that Z2 will be in trash like LT30 becase they never update later or fix that problem :/
I write my problem on xperia support but nobody help me .
PS i have LT30 xperia before Z2 and he is in trash becase "update 4.3" ..after that in one day he restart 15x or just die and you need wait 1-2 days to back in life -,- .. xperia is killing me and my money .
Try flash older firmware via Flashtools and try if the issue still occurs.

Hi. I am having the exact same issue. Also connection reach is much lowrr than before the 'upgrade' to Marshmellow. I would think that the first thing a phone should be able to do, is phone!
I hope this is solved soon, it is costing me clients

the next update will include the option to disable "noise suppression" so it will be working like before again. Patience my friends.

I really hope so because I found this feature to F up my voice over calls, no one could hear me properly... On LP disabling this made everything good again...
Also guys try going to audio settings and change microphone gain to "high"

Having the same issue as well. Nobody can hear me. Noise suppression is gone from the settings.
Is the fix in the next update a sure thing? When can we expect it?
My calls are always on speakerphone, doesn't matter if the speakerphone button is on or not, I don't believe this is a hardware problem even though my screen was replaced a few days ago, I mean how could it possibly be. I can't be the only one with this problem, I have searched everywhere, seems like I am. I'm running stock (rooted) so I don't believe it is a software problem either, I have tried rebooting and clearing cache so far.
Details: Stock E2303 MM Rooted. Only thing that could be screwing with audio is Viper4Android, and I uninstalled its drivers already. Also the headphone jack is dead if it matters.
Sorry for creating thread ahead of time, but the problem has been fixed by flashing stock using Flashtool, incase someone has the same problem.
