[Q] Prevent Screen-On due to SMS?

Does anyone know if there's a way to disable the screen turning on when receiving an SMS? I would really like to disable this if at all possible.
not sure if it's what you're looking for but if you install sms popup (which is a fantastically simple app) it's one of the many options that you can configure ...
hope this helps ...
This didn't prevent the screen from turning on. The basic SMS app seems to still turn it on.

the way this normally works, is you install handcent which does have this option. then you go in and disable to stock messaging app completely, so that only handcent or your replacement choice controls text behavior.

What you'll notice is that even if you disable the notifications on a the standard messaging app, the app still runs in the background as it's also handling all the incoming DB writes from what I can tell. Samsung re-wrote the messaging app which always runs (and can't be removed) and in this app is the control to turn the screen on. That's why I can't figure out how to disable it without breaking SMS functionality altogether.

Thank you sir, I'll give this a go as soon as I get back to my main computer (adb/drivers/etc).
Might be a late reply, but did it work ? Trying to get an Mms.apk for Galaxy S1, that doesn't turn the screen on.

Camera Settings not being saved?

Hello,
I'm having this issue with the camera which all the time resets itself to the default settings.
It only happens with the shortcut settings, I constantly add to the shortcut "exposure level" + "Focus mode" and everytime single time I'm opening the camera app I get the default shortcuts. For Instance the if I change the MP resolution or picture quality it will remember changes.
I'm using Wanamlite 1.8 + Phenomenal 2.0 Medium
Any suggestions? :good:
Thanks!

Hi! Really old thread but did you ever solve this? I have the same problems. But to me it's not only the shortcuts, the camera always resets to default settings so I always have to change iso and flash.

Yes I read that on another forum. I guess it's a "feature".

Force non full-screen keyboard in landscape

Is this possible for a non coder?
Being forced to have the keyboard fullscreen - so that replying to responses, or even filling in say a CAPTCHA verfification form - is beyond tedious to me.
I've found a couple of aftermarket keyboards which have this option, but they have their own rather undesirable traits. I'd rather stick with the stock keyboard and non full screen.
I've researched this a fair bit and not really got anywhere apart from finding out that it's officially called 'extract mode'
Try turning auto-rotate off?

Don't see how that's helpfull...
You can choose to turn it on when needed and off when not, most ROMs have access to the setting from notifications?

I do NOT want to stop the screen rotating, I WANT landscape mode
What I DO NOT WANT is a full screen keyboard in landscape.
I don't know how many times I have to re-iterate that, or even why I should have to, please read all of the posts I've made in this thread.

[Q] JB standby home button closes app.

Hi,
I seem to have this annoying problem. Lets say I am reading an article in some app. Now my phone goes on standby after 1 minute of inactivity. In ICS, I could press the home button and get back to the app I was on. In JB pressing the home button closes the app and brings me back to home screen. Is there a way to disable that?
Yes there is. Go to settings, than developer settings, scroll down to bottom and uncheck "Destroy any activity soon as user leaves is"
Also, check background process limit. If it is set to 0 then select "Standard Limit"

My developer options were off. And none of that was checked anyways. The annoyance started when I updated to JB.

Oh well thanks. Hopefully someone can figure out a way to solve this problem.
Have exactly the same problem. Before Jelly Bean this didn't happen.
I guess I'll just have to get used to waking it up with the power button instead until there's a fix.
Btw I'm running stock 4.1.1.

The problem is that the lock screen has not yet activated, therefore commands are passed to the current app running. You need to use the power button to turn on the screen. Else, search thru the settings for where to change the lock screen to lock immediately the screen the screen goes off. This might help.

yes it helps.you must set the lock screen and it works.but is there any way without look screen to ?
This problem seems to be affecting those who turned off S-Voice
Just go into its setting and enable it to activate via double pressing home button. The problem then goes away in JB.
yes it works ! i have only installed s-voice apk and thats it !

Power Management

Hi folks... Getting frustrated with aggressive power management- or just bugs.
For example GMail app is set to Ignore Power Optmisation but after every restart I get the prompt about allowing it to run in the background. Every time I tap Allow but it comes again on next restart. (screenshot attached).
Some apps will be closed regardless of "Ignore Power Optimisation" being selected - and even if I change the battery management for that specific app to Manual.
Is there anything we can do to completely disable power optimisation?

Are you on the Chinese branding of the device? I think switching to a global branding would support gmail better.

No, it's not a Chinese-branded version. It's English (AU/NZ).

Only oled screen Mate 10 pro has that.
However you can get dark themes from this app: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/themes/emui-themes-factory-app-3rd-party-t3701981
You have this issue with other apps too? Do you still get the notifications?

I see... It's a shame they haven't implemented for both models. In my case I feel like the dark colour are nicer on the eyes, specially at night.

You need to lock the app from the recent task screen. So that it wont be closed.
Also you need to manage the launch of the app "manually", but i think you did that already
