So I put Cyanogen 7 on my Galaxy S II. My tap-to-focus doesn't work in the camera though. I tried looking through the settings but can't fix it. The camera focuses only after I press the button to take the picture. Please help.
Because CM7 is AOSP derived, to the best of my knowledge, AOSP doesn't have that feature. Features like that are incorporated.
I had a samsung moment from sprint that was "vanilla android" and it couldnt do it either so im basing my assumptions off that.
Somebody please correct me if im wrong

wrong it is in the camera settings under focus type i believe and select touch
Nick - it doesn't have a touch option in the settings under focus mode.
Hit the menu button and there is an advanced options menu. You can select pre focus or long press focus

I just looked as I'm on cm7 at the moment and I found it in seconds

I was also able to find it under the camera settings>focus>touch

I don't have that option. Mine only shows Auto, macro, off, fixed, facedetect.
Anyone know what the problem could be?

Are you using the onscreen menu button or the capacitive one?
Use the button left capacitive menu button to access the advanced options menu

I went to advanced settings as well and the only two focus options it gives me is Pre Focus and Long Focus, neither of those solves the issue.
The only way I kinda solved the issue is i downloaded the MIUI camera. That lets me tap-to-focus but I don't like the layout of it. I want the camera app that is given in CM 7 to work right.

Open the camera,
Choose the on-screen options button (not the capacitive button)
Under Focus Mode the options are:
Auto
Macro
Off
Touch
Fixed
Facedetect
Touch works fine for me on the latest CM7 build.

Please see a few posts above. I don't have touch as an option. I tried that method already.
I think some screen shots are going to be needed to make sure there's no confusion. Please post screen shots while in the camera app showing your available options.

Ok here are some pictures of the settings.
1st picture shows the on-screen settings and the 2nd picture shows the advanced settings which was accessed by the menu soft-key.

Well I don't know what happened because I have the option

Looks like it may need a reflash of cm7 then. Not sure what else it could be.

agreed... i think he changed the APK out, or perhaps he is using the old RC1 CM7 version...
Ok well I re-flashed CM 7.1 from the Cyanogen website, the most up-to-date ROM and the camera still won't tap-to-focus and doesn't give me the option in the settings. If someone has any idea what it could be I would be pretty happy...it's frustrating.

just curious, but what did you do?
step by step, including links to the files you downloaded.
did you verify the checksum?
-Does anyone know how to group apps? I'm starting to have problems finding an app I need because the screen is already full and there many apps that I rarely use and I wanted to group this apps into a separate folder.
-Another thing I tried was disabling the camera tone but with no luck. Does anyone know how to disable it?
Thanks,

For grouping apps I'm using Nova Prime launcher and you can create different launcher tabs for what ever you like.
I believe the camera tone issue is legally motivated, in some places it is illegal to de-activate the camera sound I believe so I think this is why you can't turn it off from the settings, if you flash a custom ROM there is usually an option to turn it off (with a warning) but on stock ROMS usually not.
Hope that helps,
R.
Which launcher do u use?

If its touchwiz, there os an option to create a folder in the homescreen and drawer, just long click choose add to home screen and select folder, for the drawer clock on the menu button when in drawer mode, it will give u an option ro hidde aps amd also create folders...for the camera sound, root it...

I'm using touchwiz. I found out the option that you can create a folder in the homescreen but I was hoping to group the apps in the menu and not just hide them.
I also rooted my phone yesterday but I couldn't find anything to disable the camera tone. I guess l'm gonna have to install another launcher and see if sorts out.
Anyaway thanks,

I haven't (yet) rooted my phone, but I can take "shutter sound" away. You need to tick your volume rocker to minimize system sounds to silent. Then you can take pictures without shutter tone. Just remember put vol back up after.

Sorry what do you mean whith "volume rocker"? If you are refering to the volume key that didn't work out for me, I even turned off every sound in the settings=>sound but even that didn't work out .

Hmm maybe there really are localisation differences. Vol-key brings camera sounds off atleast in my device.
Hello,
I'm having this issue with the camera which all the time resets itself to the default settings.
It only happens with the shortcut settings, I constantly add to the shortcut "exposure level" + "Focus mode" and everytime single time I'm opening the camera app I get the default shortcuts. For Instance the if I change the MP resolution or picture quality it will remember changes.
I'm using Wanamlite 1.8 + Phenomenal 2.0 Medium
Any suggestions? :good:
Thanks!

Hey.
I'm using power toggles and instead of switching screen brigthness, for example, the app takes me to screen settings.
Any idea on that?

Please help, it's really annoying.
So.... It's really annoying me now.... How can we disable the shortcut on the power button that loads up the camera? I've never had so much of an issue with it but it seems since the Nougat update I launch the camera more than I lock my device!
Can't remember if I've enabled it somewhere or whether it's a default. Any help?
Open settings and search for camera. There you can disable the setting.
