Hi,
is it possible to avoid a reset of the Smartwatch when I flash a new ROM to my device? I was never able to pair them when I don't do a reset on the Smartwatch. That is pretty annoying [emoji13]
A reset is the only way to get it to connect to a phone for the first time. Unfortunately, when you flash a new rom, your phone will act like a new phone to the watch, so you must reset the watch in order to get it to connect.

Can I ask you how do you managed to flash a new rom to the 360 2nd gen ? I think a lot of us here interested in it.

I think it was talking about a phone ROM, not wear one
Fine thanks, I misunderstood the "to my device" part !
Save your Android wear app + data via titanium backup. Worked for me!

Well, it isn't a dev edition and wasn't rooted when I got it, but I finally got my truesmart. Rooted with framaroot and installed the play store. Will be playing with it for a while and then will get to developing things.

The prerooted "Developer Edition" is like the cake. Glad you finally got it though.
At least it was signed with engineering keys, eh ?
There is no cake. And aren't they all? Lol!

Holy crap, finally. Glad to hear though! I hope you haven't totally given up on the thing yet, as I still use mine daily =P
Well, the Truesmart may not be dead just yet!!
ClearD was one of the Top Developers for the MotoActv and extended its capabilities beyond what most would think possible.
He will surely breathe some needed life back into this device!!!
Yes! Glad you got it ClearD
I was using your work on the MotoActv
Before we mere mortals get too excited, let's see if even ClearD can compile a bootable firmware from whatever sources are available...
Gonna be a while, getting used to it for now. Thank God for button savior though. Lack of back button is annoying as hell. First thing I'm gonna try to do is remap the buttons...

I tweked an existing XPosed module to remap buttons.

I believe something like that should be in by default, but I probably want more features anyway.
However, I would like to revoke other specials: the back/menu swipes (at least temporarily) as well as status bar always on (expanded desktop in GravityBox).
A fully working ROM with at least 4.3 for BTLE is also something to wish for....
Clear, if you plan on holding onto it for a while I'll hit you up later when I get my hands on more KK source.
Glad to see you finally got your watch. There are still many people who haven't. Checking the kickstarter page reveals Omate keep making promises about posting but then the tracking numbers show they have never shipped.
Perhaps if Omate hadn't diverted kickstarter watches to their commercial enterprises then all backers would now have them.
Hello Mr. ClearD . Greetings from Hong Kong Glad to hear that you have received yours !! I have also just received it last week !
I have been using your Rom for my Motoactv and it is REALLY GREAT !!!!
MOTOACTV is good at running and exercise . But when daily use, i found it is too big .
Therefore , I think OMATE is really the answer for me for daily use. I
I hope you would make a good rom for this good watch. I think Omate is almost there but without a good rom.
And till now, I cant really find a good launcher for Omate
Congratz ClearD for finally receiving the Omate!:highfive:
I still use your ROM for my MotoACTV and it was the best one out there! I REALLY hope you stick around and keep doing what you do! :good:
What version do you have? I have two omates, both 1/8 2100. One got seriously bricked when I tried getting TWRP on it. The other one I haven't dared to do anything with. But I realize I need to patch it for security sake. Have you done that yet? Is it resonably safe afterwards to use with your google account?
I will be following this closely! I have new hopes now! I´ll definetily donate if you start developing for the omate!
Cheers mate! :laugh::victory:

Let's start from the beginning. Tell me what problem you're having, what caused it, and details about the unit you received. I also need to know OS version, what drivers you have, etc. Be detailed where you can.
I'd be willing to bet it can be fixed, even if you have to send it to me to fix it.

That's very kind of you.
I can't remember exactly because it was long ago but this is roughly what happened:
1/8/2100 4th shipping list (received 21st may in Europe)
Then I tried flashing TWRP and I bricked it. It wouldn't even start.
I used SP flash tool to flash my original scatter file on the watch but it is stuck at the boot logo. I have ADB shell and MTKDroid works.
Now after I restored/flashed my backup scatter file with SP Flash Tool It seems stuck at the logo... Waited 10 minutes.. no vibrating...
To be honest I'm more inclined to getting the working Omate patched for security issues than getting this watch to work.
Do me a favor and use your emmc scatter, flash the 0513 firmware from my thread in development. Flash the patch file lk and boot.img with updated twrp.
Also, post the first few entries in your scatter from the backup (preloader, mbr).

I would love to, but I'm on vacation now and don't have access to my backup files. I do have the other working Omate with me. Can I use a backup from that one? They´re most certainly from the same batch since they arrived two weeks apart in may.
Working Omates files as requested:

MBR http://tempsend.com/1DAEB79D62
Edit:
Ok, tried using the working Omates scatterfile I just created and used your may shipment firmware provided in your dev thread. It now has a new NICE logo, but it's stuck there and boot loops. I'll continue investigating and trying different things.

Actually...
Complicated answer: Factory reset the watch every time you get in and out of your car and spend the 5 minutes waiting for it to wipe everything(Apps, watchfaces, fit data) and pair it to the other device.
Maybe someday this will be easier, but right now, this is it.

Yea like that's an option haha
really really really REALLY h8 the fact that you have to reset the dam thing to change devices... why isnt there just a new pair button ffs. Also the fact you cant backup your fit data is beyond idiotic.
I'm interested in using the Gear S for running. It has everything I use in a single device: GPS, mp3 player and heart rate monitor. In theory, I could you my Nike+ account and just be happy with it. But I don't have a Samsung phone...
I believe everything I need comes already installed in the Gear S, so I wanted to turn it on and go for a run!
Am I being to naive to think this would work without a Samsung phone?
Thanks in advance.
It works well partially. Check my thread

According to this

Would Nike+ work right out of the box?

I wouldn't bet on doing that. You're going to need a Samsung phone or some knowledge on how to install Gear Manager on your non-Samsung phone.

Without gear manager nothing works. It has to be setup using gear manager. If you know someone with a Samsung phone that is compatible with gear s you could get it going but it's complicated. I have a note 3 but like my Nokia 1520 phone. I am struggling trying to get it to work the way I want it to with the Nokia. So needless to say I'm using my Note 3 at the moment because I like the gear s so much.

Right it's like buying an Ipad(at least the old ones) where at least once you need to install itunes and connect to a PC.
You need Gear manager at least to start. Then you need it if you want to install anything new.

A poster said he has an iphone when he bought the Gear S a sales employee paired it with a samsung demo phone in store and his stuff works for now until he needs an update then he's screwed
I bought 2, one for my wife and one for me.
I have a SGS5 and she had a Nexus 5. I figured I could set up both watches with my phone... the problem is when switching devices it FACTORY RESETS every time. So 1 watch per phone
I ended up buying her a Galaxy Avant as well as it was the cheapest way I could find for her to run her watch.
Kinda lame but she's happy so m'eh.
I love do the watch btw, it's perfect for my needs (ymmv).
start up without a Samsung

no thanks, well the weather app wasn't working and the news briefing didn't work as well.
I have an old samsung S3 which I used to pair the phone with. I bought a one plus one but in the end it just doesn't work with the one plus one.
There is a way also to be found here on the dxa forum to pass by a samsung and download the gear on any other android phone but this doesn't work a 100% either.
It's a bitc**** but in the end to get the most out of the watch is to do it with a samsung mobile which runs 4.3 and up.
I'm planning to build a site only with info for the Gear -S it's called www . gear-s.info and I hope to gather info of all the different places to get one proper library with info over the gear.
The phone looks great and has a real big X factor but there are still some downsides as well to it. One big issue is that it runs on Tizen and in a smartwatch world with all but the Gear's running on androidware it makes the development of apps for the Gears not a big priority with people.
Another thing I can not understand is that Samsung undermining their own sales by having the Gears only work with Samsung. Sales could triple if you would be able to run the gear manager on any other android machine.
I find Samsung getting more and more like Apple, at one point you need to buy everything from Samsung to communicate between the different mobile devices.
The problem is that they do really make nice things but it would make live a lot easier if they op the market to other mobile IOS and brands.
I do love the people on the XDA forums, the way they discover things and help people, their patience yep, they are great.
I'm going to try to find a way to get whatsapp on the gear S.
Good luck
Hans

I have a Samsung galaxy s5 and a Samsung Gear 2 (with camera)
My Samsung is on a AOSP Custom ROM (Exodus)
My gear 2 is on tizen.
Obviously the two won't speak to each other because Samsung is too stubborn. My only 2 options are;
Opt 1: Move back to touch wiz so I can use the phone and watch in sync (which I really don't want to do)
Or;
Opt 2: flash android wear on my gear 2 but lose camera functionality (which I really don't want to lose)
There is a hidden option also, which is almost a last resort and that is to buy the new moto 360 as they're currently on offer near me.
What do you guys suggest I do?
Please clear my head ffs!
Thanks

Arry87 I'm sorry for your inconvenience. Honestly what I would do if I were in this situation is buy the new moto 360 so that way you could at least have that device and the s5 speak to each other. If you don't want to go in that direction the next thing I would choose is to flash the android wear on your gear 2. I know you will loose the camera functionality but at least you can sync the photos and stuff that you take. You can sync your stuff either with a computer or another device with that capability. Hopefully I helped you out a little bit and cleared some things up for you.

Thanks dude, I just looked that the shops website and I believe it is the old moto 360 (which still isn't a problem as I like the design)
The only issue I have with flashing wear to my gear 2 is that its still very buggy and some features still don't work.
I'm going to take your advice and flash it tonight, at least then, like you said, the two devices will talk to each other. I mean, the camera is a nice feature but in reality, functionality is more of a priority.
Thanks again Salsa King

I've decided to make the LG fortune my daily driver as my ZTE Grand X Max 2 just has too many system glitches and issues to even run properly, I did the google recover thing when doing a factory reset and it got extremely hot to the point I could barely hold it so it'll just be my hotspot device until I get root on this phone or finally pick up an AT&T Hotspot

Anyone have any luck yet? Would be a good rooted phone
I know this thread is a zombie, but I would love to be able root my Fortune. I got it as a cheap temporary phone when my Nexus 5 power button died and I needed a phone for a few days, but this is actually a very good phone for the cheap price I paid. I still use it as my main device. If I could get root, that would be amazing since a lot of stuff I do on my Nexus 4, 5, and 7 often times require root and I'd love to be able to do this stuff on my Fortune.
I heard there was some LG unlock .apk they released mainly for their more popular phones but could work on the Fortune, is this a possibility?
No luck with rooting LG Fortune sold by Cricket. However, if you just want to allow tethering, there is a simple solution.
1. Download "Settings Database Editor" APP
2. Under "system Table", change the value of "tether_entitlement_check_state" from "5" to "0".
Cricket put up minimal road block on this phone.
