I know I'm asking a "tell me the best" type of question and I know that the point of a developer community is to try to push new feature but...
I've spend some time working with nightly builds of CM13 on my Droid Razr (spyder) and I think it just demands too much from the hardware. I'm also not seeing a lot of features that I need on what is really a third phone. So I'm going to look at earlier releases.
My first thought is to go back to where Motolora ended development and try a Jellybean release (CM10) but I'm wondering if Kitkat (CM11) might be the reasonable compromise.
Is there any document or thread or does anyone have an opinion they'd like to share about here the real end of life is for this phone?
Thanks in advance.

[Q] What can we do get some more variety of roms & devs especially from original HOX?
Was just wondering if there's anything we can do to get some more dev's over to our HOX+ forum? Not that I don't appreciate the work that's already being done by current dev's.
i agree...especially to get some new roms our for AT&T models as well. im willing to help the devs in any way possible if itll get some fresh content out
This depends on what you are looking for and the devs ability to get a phone. The big AT&T issues is the TEGRA processor in the + versus the qualcom in the original.
Re: [Q] What can we do get some more variety of roms & devs especially from original
a dev won't build a Rom for a device they don't have in most case's bud
Theres not many x+ owners in general so a small dev community is expected

Well that sucks since we paid a lot of money for a very high end phone and the phone only came out in europe in november so technically its still a VERY NEW phone yet it seems like the development community is for such a new and high end phone REALLY small... I expected a large dev community for such a high end expensive phone ... what a disappointed... especially when it comes to looking at the ORIGINAL development thread that's suppose to have aosp based roms and yet all i see is multiple roms being discontinued e.g. aokp 4.1 and miui rom... if things carry on the way there are and we keep loosing more devs than we receive the development community for this device will be virtually non existant ...
we need to do something about it... get some more devs from the Original One X thread over to the one x+ maybe chip in all together to get a popular well recognised dev over at our thread the way people did it for the viper x rom developers.... what you guys think?
AOKP 4.1 and CM10 got discontinued because of work being continued on CM10.1 and AOKP 4.2! we HAVE LIVES too, the amount of PM's i have gotten this week just because i went on a 4-5day holiday was horrendous! Either step up to the mark, help the dev's, or shut up!
Re: [Q] What can we do get some more variety of roms & devs especially from original
Also I just re-read what you said, seems you under value myself and max who have done a TON of work for this device!! You are just ungrateful! Quality over quantity every time

Just to echo what Lloir said, if you think things could be done a certain way or at a faster pace........you could always roll up your sleeves and build it yourself!
Being on a number of devices and around this kind of thing for a while, I can tell you that if you keep on pushing and pissing off people like Lloir....you won't have him for too long!
It ain't nothing for someone like him to put his device on swappa or something and go develop for a device where the users are not as ungrateful as they seem to be here.

Here are my thoughts:
I think we have two of the *best* android developers in the XDA community (Lloir and Maxwen) developing for our device. The AT&T Hox+ has a not so friendly Tegra processor when it comes to development. Not sure if you have flashed the CM 10.1 ROM that Lloir and Maxwen have produced but it is rock solid for a "WIP" ROM. Something you very seldom see for a first release. Personally I am extremely thankful for the efforts these 2 guys give towards our device. Thanks Lloir! and thanks Maxwen for your kernel work.

Re: [Q] What can we do get some more variety of roms & devs especially from original
Oh my God, all i was trying to say was that it would be nice to have a bit more variety in our Dev community, this thread i created because i wanted to find out if there was anything we the community could do to increase our Dev community e.g. Get the community all donate so more devs could buy a one x+ etc... And in the first post i did actually wrote that i am grateful to current devs... Lloir you have seriously mis understood my comment! Words can not express how grateful i am to you doing so much work for our device and not just you but all the devs... As for the statement of roms being discontinued, i didn't know the reason and I'm sorry ... I really am. Please don't think that I'm an unapreciative person because that couldn't be further from the truth

at first i must say i really believe he didn't want to seem ungrateful just like many other, but i think this is a problem, that is to be observed in many subforums of xda.
i guess this is mostly an iussue of missunderstanding what this forum really is.
in first place this is not somewhere to find lots of roms and tweaks for your exact device.
it's a place for development and sharing of it's results and we as users should do our best to contribute to the community as much as we can.
be it testing and giving feedback or for everyone who really is interested in extending the amount of choices: learn to get it done by yourself.
start with small steps like first java programms, simple apps for your device, theming and porting simple mods.
try to compile some kernels from git and maybe port an aosp based rom to this device.
learn how everything works, create by yourself, port, etc and share it.
and if you really don't know how to be helpful in any other way... just hit the thanks button and donate a little bit for something the devs have worked in their spare time.
First of all I would like to apologize for my laziness and stupidity.
I haven't been into ROMs and flashing since the DROID X days. I would appreciate it greatly if someone could help me out.
1. I'm looking for a ROM that uses all current firmware/radios/android version.
2. I would like it to be a 'NEXUS' (vanilla android) ROM while still containing some of Samsungs features.
3. My main concern is the look of the ROM especially the lock screen (when it comes to aesthetics I like vanilla android).
It doesn't have to meet every requirement completely but I was just wondering what you guys thought was the closest thing to what I'm looking for.
AGAIN THANKS A HOLE BUTTLOAD AND IM SORRY FOR BEING LAZY/STUPID!
Sorry,
Threads like these are summarily closed...XDA is not a support site just for best rom discussion...Users are expected to do some research and try roms to determine what is best for you as "best" is in the eye of the beholder.
whats up guys, sorry if this has been answered. im looking for a new rom to use on my rezound. i was hoping someone could point me in the direction of something like miui or similar, something completely different than sense, how ever stability is important to me. i am currently running business sense (sense 4), the latest build. the phone is not a dd i just play with it and use it at work for music and such, i do how ever sometimes use it for photos so the camera working is a must!! thank you!!
CyanogenMod 11 in original development is being regularly maintained. Also check out AICP in the standard Android development forum. Personally I keep going back to Tachyon 1.2 even though it is nearing a year in age I get best battery life and no heat...
There is no "best" ROM, only what is best for you. In fact, "best" ROM threads are not allowed on XDA, as it just causes arguments.
You are best off to try several and see what works best for you. I am under the impression that the camera issues are mostly taken care of, so just try some and see what you get. Omni and AICP would be current choices atm, until @IAmTheOneTheyCallNeo finally releases the next Tachyon version.
best 4.4.4 Rom for I545 with original MDK
What does everyone think Is the best Kit Kat ROM fire the Verizon S4, I am still using the original MDK?
CyanogenMod would be my choice. There are currently a couple bugs but the devs will get them sorted out.
Every ROM is the BEST for those using it, if you read through the development threads as you should before drastically altering your $600 device. No one can tell you what is best for YOU. Only you can decide that through trial and research. "Best" for one person may mean the theme, for another it is the apps included. Then someone will say "This ROM sucks because it FCd all over"...well how did they flash it? Was it clean or dirty? If dirty coming from what ROM? There are 1000's a variables that go into everyone's flash/usage/preferences/phone that will affect their opinion. What if they had a bad download and never checked md5? With their opinion...how many have they tried? "Well I tried 2 and XXX ROM was too blue, so YYY is the best" is a possible answer you might see. YOU need to look at the ROMs offered in development, compare list of features offered, read through at least the last 10 pages of the thread to see if any bugs were found and what users are doing for work arounds or if a fix was posted, then decide which one to try that appeals to you.
Good luck and happy flashing
I just feel the need to state my opinion, so here it is. I find it rude and poor form to promote or compare the virtues of another ROM when in the thread of a different ROM. I understand the temptation to point out features that may be working in other ROM's, but lately I feel this is getting out of hand. Am not going to point fingers but there are too many posts in all the lollipop threads stating the GPe port is better, has best battery, blah blah blah. I know I would have a hard time not taking offense to that if I were a developer. The last thing we need is for our developers to feel unappreciated.
I agree with this. I have noticed it lately in many threads and it must stop. It had been great with some measurements of battery life and so forth but I have a feeling that it is easier to complain than to act.
To me, those "but the GPe is...." or "GPe provides this...." is very tiring and useless spamming of threads. No, I just don't care how stable GPe is when there's no Xposed Framework, which make it necessary to use a more configurable ROM.
I have two different LP ROMs on my devices now, Dirty Unicorns (C6833) and Validus (C6802) and both are stable, with decent battery life.
This is the first time I chime in on a thread like this at XDA but it must be said and blocked....
We received a lot of decent LP ROMs lately and that trend should continue, without a lot of complaining. Yes, report bugs to the developers but don't BASH the ROMs being "captain obvious" about the greatness of the GPe port!
YES, there are bugs to be found in other ROMs due to the early stage of development but let developers figure them out rather than discourage them.
I say KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK with the Lollipop ROMs!
@E90 Commie I am glad to see I wasn't over reacting, I have started to reply to some of those posts only to second guess myself and delete them without sending. The last thing I wish to do is bicker, but I said what I felt needed to be said.

I have done this on occasion, but I have always qualified the comments, and aimed them at a specific user. You are right that we don't need "GPe port is the greatest" in every LP thread, and worse every page of those threads.
To add to the rant, many doesn't seem to read or use the search function anymore. At least google it first or read the last post before posting the same questions or informations.
but if you have the GPe you really have no options but the stock rom. there is no development at all anymore that i can see. there is STILL no root for the 5.0 rom. from my limited searching i can't see another GPe phone or nexus device that doesn't have root.

@blueether has his GPe rooted using the system img. from DooMLoRD. I think the hard part would be unrooting if needed. Somebody reported blueether's tool for converting Sony custom ROMs for use on GPe recently worked for them with a 4.4.4 ROM. You could request some of the developers to support the GPe, originally on 4.4.4 there was something broke in CM and everyone lost interest, I had a GPe and tried to test and report bugs but didn't have much luck.
