Plastic screen protectors? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Accessories

I decided to buy a plastic one while I wait for the glass screen protector makers to get their sh!t together. Any recommendations?

Been using one for several days now and so far, couldn't be happier. I did a wet install and let it dry for about 10 hours before I used the phone. I don't think 10 hours in necessary, but I was just making sure. After drying, I put my Seidio Active case on the phone and everything is working great. Very clear, full fit, no lifting, no odd effects (rainbow, dis colorization, etc...). The cut outs are perfect and the feel is good. It's not glass, but it's very smooth. If it continues to work as well as it is now, I will not use glass. Just take your time and get it right. That's why I did a wet install, because it always seems to work so much better.
I've tried a couple of different tempered glass screen protectors and so far, they have all come up short one way or another. the best one so far was the Coral brand, it it only sticks to the side of the screen and doesn't work well with the cases I have tried.

Do you get any "orange peel" effect with this one? I have had it on my Wish List for a couple of weeks, because I got the Skinomi TechSkin HD Clear and while it fits perfectly and has full coverage, there is a relatively significant orange peel effect if viewed at the right angle. What I mean is there is a like a texture to the reflection. Turn the screen off, hold the phone at such an angle that you can see a light source in the reflection (such as a chandelier), and the reflection of the chandelier isn't "clear" - it's distorted because the screen protecter has this orange peel effect/texture look to it.

None that I have noticed.

Spigen Curved Crystal HD is the best so far. It is a film and not glass. But it covers the full screen area just not the full front of the phone. The corners, above the top sensors, and below the home button are uncovered. It does adhere to the curved edge nicely and works with my Tech 21 case fine. Glad you get two, as I did get a few fine scratches on it when putting it on (my stupidity).

I applied the Zagg InvisibleShield on my brand new S7 yesterday. I couldn't be happier with it, did a dry install, some bubbles formed but disappeared within the next couple of hours. Now it's absolutely perfect! Highly recommended.

It's rubbery more than hard. It's not unpleasant and it doesn't attract fingerprints easily.

Spigen Curved Crystal HD is not rubbery.

Guys,
I recommend the I croo ones on Amazon. They are the self healing ones and go edge to edge.

Darn. I had one on the back of my iPhone 4S and it didn't feel all that great and got lots of little indentations and scratches on it. But it was very grippy but I don't think that's a good property to have on a screen protector.

It's like those self healing ones. You can see some indentations in certain lighting but for the most part it's crystal clear

I think the ones made for the back of a phone are meant to be more grippy, to make holding the phone more comfortable. I wouldn't say that the Zagg front protector for the S7 is grippy, but that's down to personal preference really.

+1 on the i-croo screen protector. Application was easy, it's edge to edge without halo effect/peeling/bubbles. It's smooth and not rubbery, fingerprint resistant, clear, no orange peel effect.
I seriously have a difficult time seeing the screen protector when I look for it--it's that well fitting.

Does the i-croo work well with cases?

Best Anti-Fingerprint screen protector?

Do you guys have any suggestions on which screen protector does the best of keeping the screen clear of fingerprints? I feel like I'm constantly wiping my screen protector off. I am using the screen protectors from vzw.

I have the same problem.... armour suit-military shield works the best for me..
I'm also on the same boat...using a Zagg Ultrashield right now. Although I like the feel of it, its a huge fingerprint magnet. Just looked into an RND anti glare and fingerprint set off Amazon, hopefully it will be better.

Same here, except before I put it in my pocket
Day Deal has a screen protector for the DNA, described as Anti Glare, which is great at minimizing finger prints and smudges.
It hides most fingerprints, but if you do get any fingerprints or smudges, a quick wipe on your pants or tee-shirt cleans it right up.
Also, the screen looks very good when the device is turned on.
On the negative side, it IS noticable on your screen, when the screen is turned off.
Also, it doesn't go right up to the edges, but it does cover the touch buttons at the bottom of the screen.
Works well with most covers.
Well, Amazon is fast that's for sure. Ordered the screen protector yesterday with free 2-day and it showed up today. It isn't edge-to-edge, which is a bit disappointing as you have to be extremely precise in aligning it with the screen itself. At least it covers the buttons. A plus about not being edge-to-edge is that there's no interference with my case, so I won't have to worry about bubbling up. Guess this will do until I find a better matte set...

Gosh that was quick! It sounds like it is exactly the same dimensions as the stock ones from vzw. On the sides it just barely covers the screen. But what do you think about it so far? Keeping the fingerprints off good?
Yep, sounds right, this one barely covers the edges of the screen.
I think it's much better than the Zagg I was using in terms of functionality. Keeps fingerprints off relatively well, still get some smears but they come off so much easier than with the Zagg. Plus it feels so much cleaner when swiping...what I was using before made my thumbs feel like they were glued to the screen when I swiped. The only thing I wished is that it was edge-to-edge, but then again, that would probably cause issues with a case.

I know that some people swear by screen protectors but since the invent of gorilla glass 1 there has been no need for it. I don't have any problems with just not using any screen protector at all on this or my last phone that I had for over 2 years and had gorilla glass. I barely have any finger prints ever, just the act of putting it in and out of my pocket cleans it off. Plus I love how smooth the glass is compared to how sticky those protectors feel.

I would just go bare screen but even with gorilla glass people's screens are still getting scratched. I would rather deal with a screen protector than having a scratch on my screen forever.

yeah i have already gotten a scratch on my screen... I had the Skinomi screen protector but my Diztronic case caused it to bubble up at the edges then it folded 2 days after i put it on when i put my phone in my pocket (there was no saving it... lint everywhere) Since then i have not used a screen protector but am definatly interested to see how those anti glare and fingerprint protectors do.

I don't personally care for the matte finish kind of protectors and the screen is anti-glare enough on its own. I got the ones from photodon. MXA with oleophobic option. Crystal clear and once it is lightly washed feels just the the screen without one. Also does not go to the edge so no worry about cases. Btw I got the minisuit flex case on amazon for around $5 and it fits so snuggly I can barely tell it's there.

Unicorn Beetle Case for LG G3

I just got this superb case in Amazon. I love it....it's well made with good plastic material and grip. It adds a little bulk but....i still like it...it looks like a tank. Lol. The only thing that i hate with this case is ut comes with screen protector which is built in and when u place your phone in...it shows rainbowing distortions...it's more noticeable when the screen is off and intense direct light to the screen. Any how when...you turn on the screen everything looks fine and the touch responsiveness too aren't minimize.
Im planning to rip the builtin screen protector and get a hd film or glass i hope it will still fit when installed back in the case.
I'm confused. That's totally different from this unicorn beetle case

what glass screen protector did you used? I was concerned with the thickness
@hatyrei - on the back of your phone, there is a sticker (in the second picture) attached on your power and volume keys, not to be rude but that is supposed to be removed, unless you want it, those are just intended to be temporary indicators.
@Ronde90 - What glass screen protector are you using? I popped out the one there and bought a thin one (that sadly is a fingerprint magnet) for now but wanted to see if a glass one fit. How are the smudges? What brand/model/price?

Hi guys. I ordered this one:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00KLDJAO8?pc_redir=1404818582&robot_redir=1
It was pretty inexpensive and I didn't want to spend 40usd on one so I figured what the hell, I'll try it. It looked nice and was one of the only glass screen protectors that covered the entire screen, meaning that there were no jagged cut outs for camera or anything. Plus it is only 2mm thin and has rounded and bezeled edges. After using for a day or so I have to say it is fantastic. If feels great and you barely know its there since it is so thin and clear. It really is smudge resistant unlike many other glass screen protectors. It is also very easy to apply. It uses some kind of silicone based adhesive so it adheres better to the screen and is less prone to having bubbles be caught under it when applying it. The screen protector is also very easy to remove and reapply. I actually used it for a day, then took it off when I got the unicorn Beetle pro case. After two days of the scrappy Beetle screen protector, I ripped it off and reapplied the glass screen protector with no issues at all; I wrapped up the glass screen protector in wax paper for the mean time.
If you're on the fence, pull the trigger and I promise that you won't be disappointed, especially at the price on amazon now.

i-Croo edge to edge TPU Screen protectors (OCD Approved)

Hey guys it's my first post on XDA. I hope this will be helpful for people who are looking for a full coverage screen protector for their brand new Galaxy S7.
First of all, as you all know that the S7 screen has an even worse curve than the S6. Therefore, it has been a nightmare for me to find a screen protector that covers the whole screen without lifting on the edges. ( major OCD User)
I got tired of tempered glass and PET cuz they don't cover the full screen or don't fully stick on the edges so I decided to go with TPU.
i-croo Screen protectors are flexible TPU material that will curve with your screen and stick completely no matter how curvy the edge of the screen is. The cut outs are extremely precise and coverage is great ( i would say about 98% of the screen). The clarity is supered ( tried Yootech S P which cover the whole screen but makes screen looks grainy and has rainbow effect). You can't even tell there is a screen protector on unless u pay very close attention. These screen protectors provide much better protection against scratches or drop compared to PET.
The screen protectors comes with everything you would find with other screen protectors. However, these come with an installation tool ( which i did not use cuz i prefer not having too much stuff near the phone that has dust particles which can be attract by the static charge when you peel the screen protector off), but it think it might be helpful for those who are not skilled at aligning screen protector. The best part is it is a dry installation so you can use dust removal sticker to get rid of dust particle if there is any under the screen. ( Can't tell you how much i hate wet installation which collects tons of dust and fingerprints). In addition, they are very thoughtful and included a hard squeegee that is cover with cloth tape so you would not scratch your screen protector.
The reviews of these on Amazon are not great but trust me this is the best solution for now until they can make curved tempered glass that fully adhere and not just the outside edge like Coral Glass). It works great with Ringke slim case ( will update with 3 more cases soon: Spigen rugged, BLIQ Flex Pro Espresso, and VRS Design-High Pro Shield )
In summary.
PROs:
- Prefect fit, full coverage
- Extremely clear ( almost invisible)
- Fully stick
- better protection than PET
- Dry installation
- thoughtful presentation
Cons.
-might be hard for some to install
- little bit hard to peel off ( tip: use a small dust removal sticker to hold the corner of the screen protector as you peel it off to prevent getting fingerprint under it, also makes it much easier to peel)
- not sure if it will work with all cases
OCD user score ( 4.5/5)
PS: I think it better to get these protectors without the Installation tool if you're skilled at installing them, save a dollar
I cant post images links due to having less than 10 post, you can see the images from my amazon review under Thetechnerd. It would be great if someone can help me post the images here ( plz pm me)
PLz search B01D0XEF3Q from Amazon search box. Thanks all
Here's the link http://www.amazon.com/Galaxy-Protec...01D0XEF3Q/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8
Some reviews have been saying that it scratches really easily. Also does it attract fingerprints/oil easily? Thanks
I did not see any noticeable scratch after 4 days of using it, only tiny micro scratches that you have to put under the light and look at the phone from an angle but maybe because I take good care of my stuffs. So I tested scratching the screen protector with a sim removal tool. After running the pointy end of the sim removal tool a few times on the phone surface, I was like "Holly crap, the screen protector is full of scratches". I then use a micro fiber cloth to rub it off, and "WOW" all of those scratches magically disappeared from the surface of the screen protector, and it is looking like new. Therefore, i believe that these screen protector are self-healing.
About smudges and fingerprints, I think it gets dirty at the same rate as any other PET screen protector. However, I do think that TPU screen protector are harder to clean. It requires more effort to clean than PET and and tempered glass. I had to rub it almost twice as many times as I did with PET. Oh well, for the clarity and protection it provides, it doesn't bother me that much.

I am really close to ordering this product since I am sick and tired of trying to find a tempered glass that does the job. Well, I take that back. I know that coral guard one or whatever apparently does the job but it is like 30 bucks.
Is the TPU cover in between regular film protector and tempered glass as far as hardness and protection? How is the feel of the protector, more glass or film?

So I installed the screen protector yesterday and first of all I have to say it is a great fit. This is truly an edge to edge protector. Went on fairly easy, let it dry over night and I see no bubbles or peeling. As far as the material goes I'd say it's somewhere in between PET and those self healing films. This particular one is very clear with a small amount of texture (sticky feel), and under some lighting there is a slight rainbow effect. I'm used to glass screen protectors but this is a great compromise unless your willing to pay $30 for the full coverage ones. I'm also pretty picky about what goes on my phone and I honest give this a 5/5 for quality and price.

Yeah I ordered a two pack thank God. The first one was so bubbly that I took it off. Installed the second one and it still is bubbly but I tried to smooth it out. It has this weird indentation because of smoothing it out but whatever.
It's easier to tolerates than the horrible halo effect.

I had some weird stuff going on after the install but as it dried up it slowly went away. I install paint protection films on cars and this is very similar. Usually I let my customers know it takes about 2 days to fully dry, so hopefully yours is still in the drying phase.
I could not agree more though that damn halo effect on the regular protectors just kills the beauty of the phone.

I guess I forgot to mention that. Lol I did mine as a wet install, figured it would be cleaner.

I'm probably going to return mine. The edges keep lifting with my spigen rugged protector.

Actually, it looks like the manufacturer is sending me another unit since I had issues with these. Any advice on putting these things on without causing any sort of surface damage? I can see indentations when viewing my protector at certain lighting.
I know you did a wet install but I don't think I want to go that route. Maybe I just need to be easier on the protector when I am pushing the bubbles out?
What is the difference in this and every other wet install protector that is not PET, but more that rubbery material?
Has anyone tried this screen protector with the Tech21 Frame case?

Wet install is best with a slightly soapy water solution and since our phones are water resistant its a no brainer. Only other suggestion is as you said, go easy when using the squeegee.

I haven't used to many wet install protectors but I'm really liking this one, even though it's not sold as a wet install. Like I said earlier it's a great compromise for the fit, not too rubbery and I haven't noticed any reduced screen resolution.

Some people have reported issues with certain cases, if your case has a lip that hugs the bezels it might cause peeling. I'm using the calicase ultra thin case with no issues.

lol don't do wet install cuz it freaking sucks. I recorded how I install my, will edit and post it soon. This is not even 30% as difficult as the G-color GS7 back protector, hell my skills are no joke and I had to give up on that one cuz it's literally impossible to install it without bubble.
Would it be the same http://www.ebay.com/itm/icroo-1-1-3...hash=item4d42230422:m:mh6L4r4ScGVKkUqkvj8WDEg ?
UPDATE:
I just scroll the page and seams to be it is the same.

Alright I am gonna give the wet install a shot.
What was your dilution with soap and water? Just a drop in a cup of water and mix it around? Did you use a sprayer or just use your hands?
Be careful with the soapy water. Soap lowers the surface tension of water and can get into the phone. Read that someone washed their phone and ruined it because of the soap.

CASEBASE tempered glass 0.24mm

I've recently purchased some black glass screen protectors from CASEBASE.
Fitment is perfect no issues for me.
I do believe they are thinner than others or at least 1 of the thinnest.
They are £6.99 for 2 on ebay.
Just giving you the heads up to protect your op5's
If you found this useful tap thanks

Can't believe the screen protector supplied with my OP5 is shows signs of peeling. I haven't even taken it out of the box yet!

Wow that's terrible!
No peeling on this what so ever and it seems to fill the screen more than that 1.
I've never applied a tempered glass before. Easy enough?
I remember trying to apply a screen protector to my LG G2 once, such a nightmare, to avoid those little air bubbles.... lol.

Mine is exactly the same with a slight lift along the bottom edge of the screen. The 3T I had briefly was much worse as the lift was top and bottom.
It's the curse of the 2.5D screen and a slightly misaligned or badly sized protector.

No I've not noticed any loss of screen none that I'm aware off as I make sure the screen is lit up when I'm installing it.
There's certainly no lift it fits perfect.
Hopefully some other buyers will be able to give there opinion on it too soon.
Hello,
there is glue just on the black side of the glass or everywhere (even in the middle) ?
Beside when you look at your phone with a white background, is there some oil effect ?
I got a glass from Orzly and i got all those issues...

Do you find the screen hard to see in sunlight with this protector on? I seem to struggle to see and brightness is on full. Also I have started to see some bleed on the edges. Do you think the CASEBASE is exactly the same as orzly ? As if orzly is better I might purchase that.

No, there will be not. Okay well if they change adhesive/glue type.
Working thing would need to entire tgsp be adhesive. Or maybe Whitestone style, they have somekind of different glue system which you dry with UV lamp.
But really oil slick comes because glass is just touching screen part thanks to glue on the sides only. So it leaves really small gap between tgsp and glass and if you havent cleaned your screen like some sort un-humam/robot which is really impossible, there will be oil slick.. Maybe not right after you have installed it but soon. Some manufacters (like Orzly) makes "dots" to prevent oil slick. It basically lift really really littlebit tgsp from phone's glass surface so tgsp wouldnt touch screen surface. But then people are crying about visible annoying dots on tgsp.
Thats why Oneplus official tgsp is adhesive from entire glass. But because of OP3/3T/5 style (glass starts bending before screen ends) they needed to cut about 0.4mm from both side with protectors black borders to not produce halo.
So none of methods what different manufacter use, isnt good enough...
Oh i forgot ones without black borders. Either they will end before screen ends or they will cover entire screen but leaves on sides.

They had the matrix dots on the CASEBASE but they don't seem to help the rainbow affect. Whitestone is the way to go I was tempted to get that kit for my s8+ but I found a protector that worked for the s8 even with its big curve.
I'm very surprised there isn't any perfect 1s for oneplus 5. The CASEBASE is close but not quite there. Fitment in it is good.
I think I'll end up with some tpu on it ?

Yeah dots should theoretically help on oil slick and prevent them but it wont delete those entirely and my personal opinion is that it wont help at all.
Orzly's last year model for 3/3T had also dots and oil slick so im not confident that it would be better for this They still have dots, thats what i know for sure

What company the tempered glass is of?

Best TPU cover and tempered glass screen protector?

Hi,
I ordered one cover and screen protector and they are a bit disappointing. The cover is a bit slippery and the tempered glass screen protector has sharp/hard edges. So anyone can recommend me better tpu cover and full screen protector? Those titles with 3D 5D 6D tempered protector are confusing and not clear at all to me.
I see the ones from Nillkin are good? Current screen protector I've applied today showed the rainbow effect, what does it mean exactly?
After buying quite a few cases for this phone, this is the best case I've come across. It's not the most protective against drops, but it is a really great case.
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/283241738671
The screen protector I'm currently using is a tpu style much like this one. I could never find a glass one that fit correctly.
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/233013046340
The "D" related to tempered glass has to do with the hardness of the glass. The higher the number the harder the glass. I've never really trusted those numbers when it comes to the $1.99 protectors on eBay rated as a 9D. I've used a lot of them, but didn't really think they were really 9Ds.
Edit: The "D" I was referring to was actually the "H" score that is sometimes given with glass protectors. Sorry for the confusion.

I didn't know there are tpu screen protectors. What's your experience with it?
I thought the D are for how round the edges are. I had a screen protector and the edges were not round, just plain hard/sharp.

It does the job. Covers the entire screen. Feels a bit rubbery. Your finger doesn't glide as smoothly as on a glass protector, but it's not a horrible experience. Covers and protects the entire screen. That's good enough for me.
You're right. The "D" is for the rounded edges. I was thinking of the "H" that is given with the hardness score. My bad.

Does the screen protector also covers the black borders around the screen? I once had screen protector that didn't covered the black borders, not even the screen, more like 95% so it got the rainbow effect. It was very clear and annoying when watching content or browsing.
The H is for hardness, yes. The D is pretty overused, 2.5D, 3D, 5D, 6D and so on. Atm rebought the screen protectors I was happy with and also from Nillkin. So gotta find out which is fine and if not, the tpu version you linked.
I think I'll stick with tpu case I got it included when I bought the phone. I just doesn't understand why it got fuzzy or foggy(?).

Yep. It covers the screen from edge to edge. You just have to be really careful putting it on. Perfectly clear. No rainbow effect at all.
Ha ha. Yeah, the included tpu case was clear for about three weeks for me. Turned milky white after that. I wash it with warm, soapy water every once in a while, but it fogs up again within a few weeks.

Haha, so it was not me getting crazy. I think I'll keep using the original tpu back cover, it's the most sturdiest, anti-slippery and protective one. It's not like I'm showing everyone the back of my phone anyway.

I have that one too. It's really great for protection, but the raised edges of the case get in the way if you are using gestures in stead of the navigation buttons.

just curios, but is there enough difference in these to warrant the +$22 premium in price???

I have many cases as well, but this one Leather "Porsche Design" Type Case is by far my favorite. Very premium feeling with a nice protective lip, but not high enough to hinder the navigation gestures. Tempered glass screen protector fit just fine with no issues(don't use one anymore, but I did when it was new...), and the leather has held up quite nicely. Excellent grip from this case. It's kind of hard to see in some of the pics, but it does have the Porsche Design logo stamped into the center panel.

Are these tempered glass screen protectors full adhesive or just adhesive on the sides?
Just fitted a supershieldz from Amazon USA. Fit was good but a little disappointed that it was dot matrix design. Its not very noticeable but would have preferred a full adhesive glass one. Does one exist?
Gf bought me a standstone rubber case and it's great. Similar thickness to the original, but in black sandstone.
