Possible bricked LG Gpad f 8.0 AT&T V495 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I scoured this website and Google search to find the answer to my dilemma but no luck. Here's what I have going on. I recently got this tablet for 99¢ from AT&T. It was unbearably slow so I decided to root it so I could get rid of some of the bloatware. Used Kingroot to aquire root. That went fine. Next I wanted to install SuperSU. That also went fine. Used root checker app and everything worked great. Root access with SuperSu. Then I needed to update the binaries so I did that and it was successful. Now I know I was supposed to uninstall the Kingroot and associated installs that came with it however, after the binaries were updated and before I had a chance to remove them, the tablet rebooted. When it started up, the LG screen came on as usual and the the AT&T ball screen came on. The ball rotated about 2 times and then froze. I rebooted a few more times and the same result. I don't know if this issue was caused by me not uninstalling the Kingroot stuff. I tried a factory reset but that doesn't help either. I can get it into download mode but I can never get the USB mtp driver to download so it won't recognize it on my Windows 7 desktop. Even if it would recognize it, I have no firmware to use with it. I tried using the LG flashtool, LG mobile support tool, LG bridge etc. I am not a noob as I have rooted many devices and am familiar with installing custom roms through recovery or using fastest and command prompt. If I could somehow find the stock firmware for this somewhere I might be able to get it up and running again. I just want to know what my options are and if there is anything that I can do. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

[Q] Coolpad Arise, emphasis on ROOT

I bought a Coolpad Arise (edit: Model 5560S) today at Kroger for $10 (and got 500 fuel points doing so). This phone blew me away. The proc, and gpu are better than I expected, it runs 4.4.2, and it has an SD card slot. Now to the issue:
I've been trying to get root on the device but haven't had any luck. Towel(with multiple modstrings) and Kingo didn't do anything. I'm ready to take the next step. I'm an Android developer and feel like I should help get root on this phone. I've tried to emulate the asec venerabilities to no avail. Is anyone else interested in rooting the arise? I'm not sure where to go from here but would like to have root since the stock os seams to be 99% aosp.
Pointers would also be greatly appreciated.
I'm no Dev but would love root as well. Bought 2 last night for stocking suffers for my kids. As you said you can't beat this for 10 bucks. And BTW I got 1000 points which surprised me figured I'd only get 500 for the initial, and considering I usually fill up with 20 plus gallons this phone literally was free with the discount I'll get! Thinking of going to get a third now!
Root would be great
There must be a LOT of these out there with the recent sale(s) on this model.
I'm impatiently waiting for this thread to get some action. I've tried everything. Even some Chinese program called permroot.apk that apparently works with coolpads, but I had no idea what I was doing since I can't read Chinese.

Do you have the drivers yet? Couldn't you just unlock the bootloader and load TWRP and an AOKP image that's rooted already?
Just got the arise to play around with. Still can't root device.

I still haven't been able to get root.. I went out and bought another one thinking that the system update might have locked something down (still couldn't root). Since I have second one, I'm going to try some more invasive options.
CoolPad Arise Needs Root Quick
I have recently recieved the coolpad arise and really want to figure out a way to root it. So thats why i have joined this forum thread. XD
Found this by accident, maybe it'll help get root... if you remove the coolpad battery, and plug in a usb data cable from your computer to the phone, the coolpad screen lights up and says "fastboot mode". I tried some of the usual fastboot commands, ie, oem unlock, but nothing happened, it says "waiting for device".
I bought two more of these the other day (today might be the last day for the sale so stock up).
Also found this thread: [Q] Coolpad 5560s - MegaThread: Info/Rooting??
I bought 4 of them, if I wanted there is 1 more there at the store still, lol
try using google translator i use it for that purpose xD

Unroot?
I rooted my coolpad 5560s and now the notifications and screenlock aren't working so i was wondering if there is a way you could unroot.:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
Successful root
 I successfully rooted my coolpad arise after multiple attempts with different software. iRoot, Towelroot, vRoot, OneClickRoot, Chainfire's Root App, and Kingoroot all failed.
Someone made a root toolkit for the coolpad arise, but it failed.
I tried exploit apps to try to get root privs. They didn't work.
I then used Root Genius on a computer and successfully got root.
Do not take any updates before or after you root, because you might not be able to root.
To root enable adb on the phone by going to settings > About Device > and tap build number several times until you get confirmation that you're a dev.
Run root genius, and plug in the phone. Click the root button. If phone prompts to allow the pc access, allow it. It will root the device. You must have a good oem cable and good usb port when rooting. If root fails try again on a different pc or with a different cable. Also while rooting you need internet.
I would recommend deleting the touchpal keyboard and freezing log2file and system updates.

Will this Root Genius work with Scratch Wireless ROM? After I root, can I make a ROM dump and backup the Scratch Wireless ROM?
Oh Crap! Now I'm sort of bricked!
I was starting to get some instability (probably due to many device tweaks and the device being almost full, not from Root Genius) on my phone and I went to flash it back to stock for a re-root. This time I gave the root package another try (it didn't work for me the first time perhaps because of maybe some .net framework issues). This time it worked after powering on I followed the instructions and I went through and checked if every app worked. The browser and camera default apps did not work at all. They would open and force close. So, I decided to retry to root toolkit and my device never got pass the "Powered By Android" screen and it wouldn't boot into stock recovery. So I used the Coolpad Official Flash Tools (YGDP) and flash it back to stock. The device didn't work either. I would get the same screen and I was unable to boot into stock recovery.
Please help as I use this device as my everyday device, app dev device, and at my college classes. It is also my primary source for accessing the internet (I use the hotspot often).
Phew, got it fixed by flashing the original stock rom with the company tools.

[Q] Rooting Posh Equal S700a?

Hey guys. I've rooted a few phones before, but I've recently purchased this Posh Equal S700a phablet running Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat. However, I cannot root this device for anything in the world. I asked in the XDA assist forum and was directed to this subforum. I've searched around the internet and can barely find anything on the phone, let alone a proper rooting method for it. Does anyone know of a way to root this phone? So far I've tried:
iRoot
-----------
I've tried both the mobile APK and Windows application. The Windows application doesn't detect my phone, even though I have the drivers properly installed. Only USB_DIAG shows next to the picture of the iPod USB cable, but when I click the button to start the rooting, it says no phone is found. The mobile version of the app claims that the phone has been successfully rooted when I press the Root Now button, but the phone never actually roots. Sometimes I will get their version of the SuperUser app installed to my device, but after running a Root Checker app, it says that my phone still isn't rooted. As a matter fact, if I run the iRoot SuperUser app, it will even tell me that the phone isn't rooted and that I will need to run the iRoot application again to reroot the device (but this never works).
Kingo
---------
Kingo actually detects my device and gets to the rooting process. However, when I get to the fastboot menu, the phone will reset once more into the fastboot mode, then restart one last time to take me back to the homescreen. By that time, the Kingo pc app will say that the process has timed out and ask for an email address so that they can send the report to the developers.
Root Genius
---------------
Did 15 minutes of resetting and installing suspicious looking apps. I deleted them and ran a virus scan after the application failed. Anyway, the application kept saying that it successfully added files and was transferring the necessary root files to my phone, etc. Every 5-10%, the device would reset and keep attempting to do the same thing before ultimately quitting at around 80% and saying something along the lines of "Your phone is really tough, do you want to manually root?". From there I get directed to a site in Chinese.
Towel Root
----------------
Device not supported
FramaRoot
--------------
Device not supported
There was also another oneclick flash tool that I tried, but I can't remember the name of it right now. I will have to check when I get back to my Windows desktop. That app also hung early in the process as well after detecting the phone and identifying the basic info such as model number etc.
Did you ever figure this out?
I just go the S700A as a backup phone and would like to root it or upgrade to 5. Did you every figure it out?

somebody knows how update or find stock firm for this phone?
I rooted using Dr.fone, now I need a ROM - help XDA, please!
6/16/18: I had Dr.fone installed on myPC so I USB'd into my Posh Mobile Equal L700 and the app found it. It did give me choice of only a "Mediatek" or "Samsung" phone. I was brave and chose Mediatek. The app ran for awhile then showed Root Successful.
Just to check I downloaded RootChecker app from Google Play Store and it shows the phone is rooted. Also, Malwarebytes now keeps giving me the message it is rooted and may be unstable (Oh yippee, that makes me feel good....not.)
Now I am stuck at flashing a new ROM on this device and can't find one that works. Search on YouTube for ROM for Posh Mobile Equal L700 by Sheena Rodriguez - I am prevented from including the actual URL in this posting b/c I have not done 10 posts yet. However, every time I try it, (and apparently I am to download directly into my phone and not into my PC then use a USB to get it to work, but I'm trying that next, even though I have no idea if that is a real "thing"), it comes with a "blocker" page that tells me I need to "try" one of two apps and then the install will finish. That seems way off to me.
Does anyone out there have a reliable ROM to refer me to? I am absolutely raw new to this so I really need a "do this FIRST, second, etc." instructions.
P.S. - a tech from Posh Mobile just told me this phone is no longer supported, even though I'm still within my one-year warranty, and then when I questioned him further he told me Posh Mobile no longer exists. I think the phone itself has decent bones and could still have a lot of life in it, but it REALLY needs a new ROM....
Help!
-sincerely, geogat.

Soft bricked Kyocera-E4710 (DuraXE)

I used Kingroot (desktop) to root my Kyocera-E4710 (DuraXE).
Restarted it and everything was fine, uninstalled it with file manager and it lost root (as expected), reinstalled the Kingroot apk and it got back root.
Did a factory reset and it lost root (as expected), reinstalled Kingroot and it got back root.
Then I replaced Kinguser with SuperSU (got the script from this site) restarted and it worked and everything was OK.
Then I did a backup of packageInstaller.apk and uninstalled it, then I tried installing/uninstalling other apps and it didn't go (as expected).
Then I did a full un-root with SuperSu and it didn't uninstall due to the lack of the packageInstaller - but it lost root (as expected).
Then I did a factory reset and it's stuck (it says Kyocera)!
This phone has no download mode - it just had the safe mode (power+down+menu) option but that doesn't boot either, can you please help???
Did you ever get this resolved? I'm trying to get the wifi hotspot to work with t-mobile, but at&t has software restricting the use.
I sent it in to them and they un-bricked it [or was it a new one?].
Then I rooted it again with Kingroot and then I replaced Kinguser with SuperSU and did what I needed.
Then I un-rooted it and it works fine.
However this time around I didn't bother with Package Manager - and I never tried to factory reset it again.

I just used Kingroot. Still can't get the hotspot to work. I'll give SuperSU a try. Did you get tethering to work?
Thanks!
EDIT - - I used the windows app for kingroot and can't get this dumb thing to install an apk. I'm hoping someone has some guesses on how to get around at&t's hold on using tethering. I'm not on their network and I can't understand why they feel the need to destroy hardware with software.

Hey just a question for you guys, in trying to use the e4710 with t mobile myself but network keeps stopping it and disconnecting? Just wondering if you were expecting that too with it unlocked and using at mobile sim. Thanks for any info
anybody knows what is he talking about?
this a keypad phone...root? install apk?
i have the same problem - cant use wifi tethering on non-att network...
if i had android - then it is easy to solve, but how to do it on the keypad heandset?
how did you root this phone?
Hey OP, what were you trying to do with root? I've got a DuraXE coming in the mail and, like many others, am hoping to open up tethering for non-AT&T providers. I imagine it can't be as easy as disabling TetheringProvision.apk. There's not much data on this phone, though OP appears to have been successful; another thread had kingroot fail for someone. I believe the bootloader is locked.
If we can turn on USB debugging, I can try to remove TetheringProvision.apk and install CWM Tether if needed. If root is needed, my plan is to try to use Kingroot. Of course, I am assuming that you can turn on USB debugging mode to use Kingroot here. Maybe root won't be needed, though I somehow doubt that.
Kyocera has their kernels and drivers availible for download from their site. One thing that's interesting is that the DuraXE E4710 is listed under the drivers page as "DuraForce XE 4710" and shares the same drivers as the DuraForce Pro, their latest smartphone. I'm hoping that information about DuraForce Pro modding may have some application to the DuraXE. We'll see what happens.
Kyocera duraxe E4710 root and tether
Enable developer option
"click several times on "Build" id field under settings.
Enable unknown sources under security ettings
Use kingroot to connect.
You may need the Kyocera USB drivers available from vendor webpage support.
Version 3.5 of windows kingroot failed to root for me. (version available on XDA)
(And avira had a panic attack over installation of newer version kingroot windows pc app)
Gave up - since uncertain how to fix the locked in AT&T network tethering and hotspot issue even after rooting the phone...

Alcatel One Touch Pixi 7 9006w tmoble help

I'll try to get as straight tot he point as possible.
Been using my Mobile one touch pix 7 for a little over a year and always installed Ota updates. Well I rooted the tablet not too long ago, forgot which method I used, but was working fine.
an Ota update came through and totally forgot it was rooted, and tried to install it, at which point the whole tablet got bricked.
It ended up in recovery, and I selected due to failure, to format and wipe the data.
Anyhow, The unit will stay at the boot screen for a while then show command error and then show the recovery screen, my only options are:
reboot
update from sd card
update via adb
update via memory
reboot Bootloader
power off
Well I've tried updating by downloading system images via adb, they return a verification error.
I've tried using adb side load to try to install an Ota update file I found for it, returns a verification error.
I cannot get into download mode, fast boot mode I think does not work as windows reports 3 android devices, but the mobile update software cannot see anything, and fast boot gets stuck at waiting for devices.
I suspect the tablet is for lack of a better description totally bricked and just a paperweight.
I am at a loss of what to try from this point. I'm sure wiping the data after the failed update killed it completely but not sure.
Anyone have any guidance here? I've downloaded a few images from the web I found that say they are for this tablet model, but still getting verification error.
Is there any flashing software I can get that may be able to access the tablet or can I copy a file to the scared and have it try to run an update from there. I don't care if it is rooted or not, just want to get it usable again.
I can run Mac OS, windows 10, windows 7, windows xp, or even have no issue getting a linux version going, whatever will work best for this I can use it. windows 10 I was able to manually add the drivers but windows 7 is not letting me do it the same way. I can connect via adb sideload only, no other adb functions seem to work.
I'm not a total news when it comes to custom rooms, as I have done it with another tablet, and an android car radio, but those were pretty straight forward and bootable so never ran into a brick issue yet.
I have a feeling this is toast and I hope that is not the case.
If anyone here can help out, I would appreciate it.
Thanks again....
Need help here to. Been searching with no luck. Any my issue is.
Rooted kingroot, flashed twrp with flashify and now I'm stuck on twrp. Been searching for any custom stock rom. I forgot to unlock the bootloader but I did enable usb debugging (i didn't see any oem options).
Any k 28532Jonsunf of help would be greatly appreciated.
This sorta happen to me. I rooted pixi 7 with kingroot, and was able to delete a lot of bloatware. However, when I was using lucky patcher it pretty much messed up the play store. But it was fine. I could download stuff through the Internet. But sooner or later I needed to fix it. Tryed a lot of ways but it didn't help. So I factory reset the tabletand now im stuck at the Setup Wizard. It just won't let me let me through. I thought its was over, but then I get a message saying there is an update available. So I download it and installed it. But all I get at the end is error. So now I need to flash it with stock. I tried the img. too, but it doesnt show up in the recover menu. If you found a solution please tell me
Can anyoonneee help me find a good Custom Rom for the alcatel one touch pixi 7 (9006W)? Sucks that there's not much info for this device (probably cause the device sucks lol) I'm running on lollipop 5.0.2 and am not able to get OTA update due to rooting. Unrooting didn't help. It seems only answer is custom rom but don't want to risk bricking it as I don't have a computer at home. Also, I am new to this so if anyone can share some insight, I'd be eternally grateful
P.s
It's a t mobile device but I only use it on wifi.
Am using kingroot.
Have never installed a custom rom
****ing device is 8 gigs. 1 gig Ram.
Is it possible to get Nougat?
Help meeee lol

From bricked to custom ROM in 2019 (GUIDE)

Here you go:
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AshkuG2cY1T0xPZArSsy6iO1e_UnPw
This is a zip file with all the tools and files you need and instructions on how to use them.
What it covers:
Restoring bricked device (as long as download mode still works)
Unlocking bootloader (firmware dependent)
Rooting (any firmware)
Installing a custom recovery (any firmware)
Installing a custom ROM (any firmware)
I made this because all the guides for this phone were seemingly outdated, and some required tools and files were incredibly hard to find. Didn't want anyone else going through the pain I went through to break this phone open.
Thank you so much for uploading this. The charging port on my Nexus died and I have to use my old Note 2 as a backup, but I forget how this old piece of junk works. This should be very helpful.
I rooted and flashed twrp to boot to a triangle saying system software not authorized. Tried 3 firmwares and wont boot correctly. I got error about firmware update failed use kies... Kies won't do anything and kies 3 says unsupported device. On the 3rd firmware (root66 rooted stock ) firmware file I now am back to the original triangle system software not authorized by Verizon ..
How do I fix this?!?

Did you read my guide? You can't flash TWRP unless you successfully unlocked your bootloader with Casual, otherwise you are limited to SafeStrap. Also you can't restore with Kies, you have to use Odin and the files I've included to restore.

Nice to see people still looking for something like this, so my guide wasn't for nothing!
I was geeked to see this!! but then i got "This item might not exist or is no longer available"
I take it back.. i let it sit on the "failed" page for like 2 min, and randomly it popped up with a download!
Well the auto bootloader didn't work, so now i'm at the root section. However i'm getting an error where ADB isn't detecting my phone. USB debug is on, and i'm definitely in media mode and not installer. The phone shows up in windows and looks good, but adb doesnt detect. I opened command prompt and ran adb /? and found adb devices -l, and it reports "list of devices" and theres nothing in the list. I can't imagine why it's not seeing it. I tried turning on and off debug mode, switching from camera mode to media, changing usb ports. still nothing comes up, but windows sees it fine. grrrr
*edit, well since we can't delete posts i'll leave this here, because i have to. But what i did was re-open the "no you verizon" and it showed DISCONNECTED also. I changed usb ports like 3 times, turned usb debug on and off, changed from installer mode, to camera, to media mode, restarted the phone and the computer multiple times.. and then it just all of a sudden was detected again. So i went with it and it seems to have worked.
-it took 3 times to actually work, you noted it may take multiples, and it sure did. I ran it through the command prompt so i could read the text, and it took 5 times longer and reported much more stuff when it actually worked.
-final edit: if you can't unlock your bootloader, you're still stuck with ditto or alliance from 2014, and lots of apps won't update on android that old. So if you thought this guide was some holy grail, it is not. But still useful if you need the assist, so thanks to the author.
Hi, total noob here, I just bought Verizon note 2 at a yard sale but there is a pin I don't know. When I went to do a factory reset it booted into TWRP, so I am assuming is rooted. Do I need to be able to get into the phone to use your tools? I know nothing about TWRP. I would like to install a newer Android version and unlock it so I can use TMobile. Thanks
Something wrong...
when i try to load this file from the packages folder i get an error message:
"md5 error! Binary is invalid"
none of the other three works for me. they all come back ailed.
any suggestions?
awesome! thanks for posting this, just found my old note 2 and want to get it up and running again for the kids.
Kudos!
Used this to get my Note 2 up and going again temporarily until the Pixel 4a release...
NOTE: I had strange issues with Odin on my modern X570 board (USB 3.2 Gen 2) where I did not receive any errors, yet the process would randomly seem to time out. Sometimes I'd get stuck at flashing boot.img, sometimes it would hang up at the start, once I got to flashing system.img and it seemed to hang....
Used an older PC circa 2013, no issues! Not the first time I've had issues with this newer motherboard and older USB flashing interfaces; had the same issue on my Note 8 (RIP) as well.
excited to try this.
I'm on some rooted 4.4.2 stock-looking rom. Recovery doesn't look custom.
Hoping to be able to install a working Oreo or Pie ROM
great post, bought a couple of these for almost nothing and am having fun playing with them. sadly they are both 4.4.2 but its great fun anyway.
