Stock G5 Quick Remote App Uninstalled? - LG G5 Questions & Answers

I just purchased a Tmo G5 and was very happy with it - after having to download a third-party equalizer because my Play Music Library sounded like garbage... but that's irrelevant.
Having owned an LG G2 back in the good old days, one of my favorite features was the IR blaster and the QRemote being built in directly to the status bar. I decided to go through my app drawer to find the app to setup, and it isn't there.... I checked the app drawer in the google now launcher (my full-time launcher), I went back to the stock launcher and searched through all of the pages, and I went through the apps in the settings; nowhere to be found. I opened the "quick help" app and searched "ir", and saw a result with directions on how to set it up, except it tells me to open a factory installed app that my phone mysteriously does not have... I contacted LG and they told me that they have no idea why it could have gotten uninstalled or removed, but that I would need to get an APK from some third party source to make it work, since QRemote is neither on the LG app store, nor the Play Store.
I have been using a Play Store app that works as a remote, but it has no option for my soundbar, it has ads, and it seems to use a very unreasonable amount of battery (I want the factory QRemote :crying. Basically, when I search for any APK for the QRemote online, I find versions for lollipop or before (mostly for G2 and G3), and none of them actually install on the G5. Does anyone have any sort of functional link to an APK that will work on the G5? Thanks so much.
Oh and factory resetting is a last resort, and apparently it won't restore a pre-installed app that has been removed (great).
Thanks again for your help.

Under Settings->About Phone->Update Center->App Updates, you should seethe QuickRemote there and can select to download/install it.
Hope this helps

[Q] Remove app from Android Market 'My Library'

So I use the Amazon app store and GetJar for free 'paid' apps. Some of these apps are showing up in "My Library" on my Google Android Market account. Is there a way to remove them from the Android Market account?
One recent problem is Wave Launcher which used to be free on GetJar. I don't see it listed anymore on GetJar and I can't even buy it from the Android Market since it thinks it's already purchased (but declines the 'install' saying it's not purchased). A 'delete' button like in the Amazon app store library would solve all of this...
Short of changing google accounts, I don't see any options on how to fix this. Anyone have any ideas? The problem is on my market library, not my phone (I know how to remove market links, etc.). Thanks.
I to have this problem its very annoying their has to be a way to clean it up.
I actually used the 'report' app function on the google market and got a reply back. They have "forwarded your case to a specialist to begin working to resolve your issue as soon as possible". We'll see what comes of it. Amazon's app store has a simple delete button in that library. It doesn't seem like that would be too hard to implement.
did you ever get a reply for this?
would love to be able to remove all the apps i just simply try for the sake of testing and i want them gone.....
listen to your users G!
I believe Titanium Backup can do this if you are rooted.

You can "fix" market links with it by long pressing on the app in question.

On the website I don't see an option, but it is possible on your phone.
I am not sure if all versions of the play store have this option (I am using Jelly Bean 4.1.2):
When I open the play store on my phone I can remove previous installed apps from the list.
Go to: Play Store > My Apps > All
There you can remove an app by tapping the Ø icon

Yeahp. It works.
I deleted some yesterday on my mobile, but they were still on my web "Other apps in my library".
Today, I deleted some again and reloaded the webpage. They disappeared.
Thanks for the tip.
Ok, maybe it needs some time to sync. Great it works!

I have this issue as well--phone app has no provision for deleting the apps, on JB ROM.

Razr Maxx Play Store Issue

Recently, meaning in the past two days, when I open the Play Store this is what appears:
(first attachment, or which ever is named razrmaxx)
When I go to My Apps, and look under the Installed tab, only four apps show up, all preloaded Verizon apps. When I go to all associated with my account, it shows that they are installed. I can only install a new app if it's a popular app and the Play Store comes up with the completed search where it has the app icon. All other Google services work, gmail, youtube, Chrome tab, bookmark shares. I've reset my phone to factory defaults, I've completely closed the Play Store, deleted data, deleted cache, forced stop, and reopened. The other day I was trying to install an app (AirDroid), and it said it wasn't available in my country, I live in the United States. I'm completely baffled because on my Note 10.1, this is the screen that appears when I open the play store:
(second attachment, the one named note)
(just in case this is related to that), and it also will not show any of the "installed" apps, but will say that it's installed under the "all" tab. I've completely erased all data, force stopped Play Store on my Note too, and it still shows up like that, and it also can't search. The fact that there's only one app on my phone that shows up makes me think it's a virus, I've scanned my phone completely with Avast, I don't download anything except from the play store (although I know even there it can be a virus). Recent apps I've installed to my phone are: AirDroid, AndSMB, App Cache Cleaner (although this is after it started), and Avast. I originally thought the Samsung Apps app on my Note was causing the issue on my tablet, and Samsung Apps works, but even after I disabled it, the issue persisted. I even tried the Amazon App store, and that works. The only app that I have in common with my phone and tablet is Avast. Any help is much appreciated, and thank you in advanced. I might go to a Verizon store in the next few days and ask them about it, maybe get a new phone and stay away from my current gmail accounts and only use apps I trust, (amazon, newegg, doubletwist). Anyone know how to fix this and ways to stop it from happening in the future?

How can I get apps to work that require Google Play Store, without installing GAPPS?

Basically, I have a custom ROM installed (Ressurection Remix) without GAPPS (intentionally) on my Moto G5 Plus.
Almost every app works fine, but some don't. These are for the most part apps that I backed up and installed using Titanium Backup.
The specific app I want to try to get working is DB Navigator. It works almost completely fine, I can search for new routes and change settings etc. However, I can't see tickets that I have booked. I don't need to be able to book tickets through the app, but I would like to be able to see the tickets I have already bought.
My question is, is there any way to get this app to work without installing GAPPS?
(I apologize if this question has been answered already. I googled it, duckduckgo-ed it, looked through the forums and still found nothing )

LG G5 OS recommendation and app questions

Hey guys,
Long term LG user here, wanting to stick with my good ole G5 despite the age starting to show. As far as I understand, the latest official version of Android that supported the G5 was 8.0, and that's the latest my phone will let me go ofc. Now, the problem is, a bunch of apps no longer work, and Google Play is being weird even after a factory reset, so I can't find a whole bunch of apps such as BlaBlaCar, for example. Like, I know they are there... if I go on another phone they will be too (or through my PC) but if it detects LG G5, it pretends the apps don't exist. Long story short, I'm thinking some of these apps just don't work on older Android versions anymore. That being said, what would you guys suggest? There are hundreds of custom roms out there (or so it seems anyway), but which one works provenly well and offers apps from GStore (or another place, I'm good with that too if there's a reliable store) that actually work? I am a total newbie when it comes to custom roms, so far I've heard about Lineage, but really not sure about anything else. Any tips?
Hi, I would remove the play store and play services, replacing Play services with microg. Microg is an open source reimplementation of Play Services. It is very light, but it's not compatible with apps like Meet and Duo.
Instrad of the play store you can use Aurora Store, you can find it here on XDA. It is an unofficial client for the Play Store that works both with an anonymous account or with your own google account. It can also spoof the phone make and model, so you can be sure you will find all the apps. I'm using Oreo as well, and it still works perfectly with almost any app.
Edit: I tried to download BlaBlaCar on my G5 using Aurora store, it works as expected.
Ah, I see. So what you're saying is don't mess with custom roms at all? But how do I get rid of Play Services if I don't get a custom version of Android working, and to do that I probably need to unlock my phone/boot loader, right? Or do you just mean .. just... don't use Play Store and use Aurora Store instead? Tried the latter, and it definitely works. Now I just need to get rid of Play Store and all that, any recommendations on what to use to do that?
Although custom roms are great because they let you use the newest version of android, unfortunately there are some functions that are not supported, most notably the IR led to use the phone as a remote. Moreover in my opinion the LG camera app, supported only by LG roms, is the best camera app I've ever tried. You can flash TWRP or OrangeFox as recovery, and then remove the play store and play services from there. OrangeFox in particular has a specific 'app uninstall' function that makes very easy to remove apps. That is possible if you can unlock the bootloader. If your phone does not support bootloader unlocking, you can disable the play store from settings->applications or using adb command pm disable. In this case by the way I wouldn't suggest to disable play services, as there would be no way to replace them with microg.
Ah, right, thanks man! I'll give it a shot and see what I can do

Question Non-Samsung version of Google Messages?

Hey everyone. This is my first Samsung, so please excuse me if this has been discussed at length already. Is there any way to get the normal version of Google Messages on a Samsung phone? The huge MESSAGES header when you open up the app is very annoying and never happened on my Pixel 4 XL. I'd love to know!
Thanks!
Following since I'm also coming from Pixel. Why can't we just have Samsung hardware with stock Android haha.
Ok, I actually found this on another forum. Download the universal apk from another mirror site and store it on your phone. Go to the Play Store, uninstall updates of Messages and turn off auto update, go back to the Messages app and clear the cache, then install the other downloaded apk. Apparently, that works! They did say though that the app can't be updated by the Play Store. You have to manually do it. I haven't tried this yet.

It works just the way you said. But if you update in play store, it will revert to Samsung's version and it is going to force close

Yeah you'd have to turn up dates off and just manually update the regular version. Apk mirror is legit
So I use the Google Messages app on my S22+ (just as I did on my Note 10+). No sideloading necessary. This is Google's app from the playstore. No huge app header or anything.
Those headers are specific to Samsung's app design language. You need to remember that Google Messages and Samsung Messages have the same app name in the drawer, but the app icons are different.
i use/have used verizon message + on several samsung phones..pop-up on lock-screen + read message.
currently not a verizon phone.
